He really did love her. She brought him peace in a lifetime of war. It was rare for a King to love his Queen but to Henry she was his world.
So true. He was actually one of the few British kings who never took a mistress because she was all he needed. The series actually tones his grief down a fair amount. In reality, he made himself sick from his grief to the point where he almost died. Historians stated that he rarely showed emotion, only with his family & in private, as he believed it showed weakness, so for him to mourn so deeply & publicly showed just how much he loved her. Afterward he wore only black & made sure that her death & birthday was remembered every year. He only half halfheartedly considered remarriage & that was mostly to keep parliament from complaining too much.
Dint he consider marrying Catherin of Aragon at one time
Rick Heady That was his son Henry the 8th Henry the 7th was in lifelong mourning after Elizabeth of York's death
@@celticwarrior184
Funny he love his wife his queen that much and never took a mistress but his son Henry the 8th had six wives.
@@handeaykan8419 Yeah. Historians & critics have often mention that. Mostly how both odd & sad it is that a such a successful king could have such a jerk for a son, who undid almost everything his father did.
His son should have learned something from him
H VIII was desperate for male heirs. Don’t forget the marriage of his parents finally ended decades of civil war (War of the Roses) & without a son (or better sonS) HenryVIII was leaving a kingdom with another war of succession. So what Henry 8th learned was individual lives were much less important than the kingdom. What he didn’t learn was fiscal restraint.
@@ellencook1658 In end it was his two daugthers Mary I and Elizabeth I Who became Queens not a male heir.
I think that was the problem Henry 8 wanted the same love he saw growing up from his parents.
A happy family with love and sons.
@@charlottemunday7311 True, but he got little crazy and wanted a son and he got one from his mistress Bessie but boy died at age of 16 and Then one from 3 wifeJane Seymour Who died after giving birth plus. He was not a faithful husband like his father he had Affairs and dint cared Who he hurted his Wives.
@@marihillestad5486 Don't get me wrong im not justifying any of the shitty things henry did, he slept around (not unusual) but he was greedy and i think he coveted what he couldn't have.
He wanted Katherine (his brothers bride) he wanted a legitimate son.
I know all this i'm a history teacher but i might add he only went "crazy" after an accident during his marriage to Anne Boleyn.
I wish henry the VII was talked about more he really does have an interesting story
Yes he did. But he's "outshone" by his jerk of a son Henry VIII, because Henry VIII had by far the more colorful love life. All those wives and mistresses. Henry VII had one wife and one love, no mistresses at all. He's considered "boring" by historians and authors. I think he was quite interesting, myself.
Henry VII is one of the few kings known to have no lovers/mistresses in a time it was normal for kings to do so. He really did love Elizabeth with all his heart. Also...I cri because of this video.
Who were the others may I ask besides Anastasia parents,Edward IV and Elizabeth of Woodville, Albert and Victoria
@@kathrynorozco5416 Edward I and Queen Victoria were famously extremely in love with their spouse. While it may sound odd, Henry VIII and Jane Seymour were also very much in love. So much so that Henry waited to remarry for 3 years after her death.
the opposite of his son henry 8th
@@maartken5173 lol nah mate, Henry VIII was playing away while Jane Seymour was preggers, same as his other wives. And the reason he waited 3 years to remarry is because quite literally, no one in Europe worth their salt was willing to risk marrying their daughter / sister / cousin to a serial wife killer are you crazy they know better.
@@aislingyngaio lol true
they were brought together by bloodshed , but they clung to each other
They were both puppets of a Medieval Caste system that still exists to this day. And still they both loved each other. I wonder if her uncle Richard III was really her lover?
@@sandranorman5469 maybe a young girl crush. But not actual love
@@sandranorman5469I highly doubt it , that kind of inbreeding was more reserved for the spanish and portuguese royal families.
He was a faithful man. Even years after elizabeth's death, he followed her
“No. No. I am the king, and I command it. You will be well and live a long and happy life with me.”
😭
Henry vii and Elizabeth of york are one of my favorites. My all time favorite royal couple is william the conqueror and mathilda of flanders. He actually came back running to his wife after every battle waiting to see his wife. He never took a mistress and listened to his wife advice on politics and did what she suggested. His heart was broken when his wife died and he died a few years later and couldnt wait to rejoin his wife.
But the only thing I hated was Henrys mother she is so evil she tried so hard to get him on the throne she killed 2 boys in the tower n the curse strike back on Henry when he found out he hated her the only reason he even speaks to her is because of lizzie
@@shontamayers8460 yes. I thought margaret was an extremely ambitious woman but I hated her excuse of, it was God's will for my son to be on throne after I paid for his army. It was God's will even though i had the two princes in the tower murdered. I just found it moronic that she believed that but that's how irrational people think

That Hate turns to Love relationship,Lizzie and Henry made me want to watch The Spanish Princess, ughh I miss Jodie Comer's acting

She will comeback in The Last Duel in 2021!
C L A U Really?
@@disuwa7500 yes, a story about France in the 1300.
C L A U Finally some story about France and it’s history!
Not gonna lie, his grief after her death made me believe in love again.
Ohh yeaa.. I felt the same
I am not a fan of P Gregory. She is a writer of hysterical (yes) fiction...which is fine...but the then she wants to say she is a historian. We know Henry VII was the rare King who took no mistresses...he & Elizabeth we’re together almost all the time. When she died he shut himself away & almost died himself & pretty much suffered from depression for the rest of his life. He considered marrying Catherine to keep the dowry but that went quickly to the wayside. He halfheartedly looked for a wife. He gave a very specific description of what he wanted his new wife to look like...he described Elizabeth. After her death he did become the Winter King.
I think the tv shows are better than the trash books- I read The Red Queen- and that was good- PG loves the yorks- but HATES the tudors- so her books focusing on the tudors are wayyyy worse
Emily Graziano she also hates the Lancasters too
Emily Graziano I think she has a tendency to write more sympathetically to Richard III, which while is bias, I actually appreciate because most writers write Richard as evil.
That’s been the view for a long time that Henry was the good person in that fight, and Richard was evil. Tbh It’s nice to have something different. But yeah I agree she can be bias...like most writers though
Elizabeth I shut herself away for at least three days after Robert Dudley died. She never married him and played the "marriage game" to suit her personal and political purposes, but he was the love of her life. Like grandfather, like granddaughter.
She is a Historian. She has a Ph.D, but her writing is not academic history.
If this song doesn't describe their relationship and love then I don't know what will. Such a beautiful song for a very historically underrated couple. I really wish the history books would have more on Elizabeth of York.
Having watched The White Princess and just started The Spanish Princess, this video is just perfect! 👌
You should watch the White Queen!! Its all about Elizabeth as a child & the last Princess of York *Elizabeth of York
He never remarried after her death, for no woman could measure up to Elizabeth in his heart!
I love their story 💙
He was a noble king, but he always bent his knees to comfort his wife when she was sad.
I guess I'm truly blessed. I'm so in love with my husband. He's my life. We've spent more than half our lives together. We rarely spend time apart. Our hearts are intertwined. It's hard to see where one begins and one ends. True love exists. Almost thirty years. His very existence brings smiles and laughter!
They are perfect togehter 💗
Henry and Lizzie Forever 💗
Yeah 😊
I was not ready for the emotional punch
What’s interesting with Henry VII and Elizabeth of York is that they were almost married even before Edward IV died. It almost was a provision so Henry wasn’t in exile forever.
KarilynM yeah i found this really interesting too, they were destined! But i think it was a trap for henry (he thought same and didn’t accept) edward called him “imp” so i don’t think he give his favorite daughter to him so easily ajdksldl But I really want to see/read “what if” versions of henry and elizabeth
@@lyapendragonn It could just as easily not have been a trap, as Elizabeth was previously promised to Warwick's nephew as a gesture of reconciliation before Warwick did his bargain with Margaret of Anjou.
@@aislingyngaio no lie Margret of anju was lowkey badass in the white queen Cercie Lannister is based of Margret .
It would have made alot of sense too.
From Edward's viewpoint, his legacy was secure from having two sons. If he brought Henry into the fold , that would just bolster support to his family l mean, you get Henry you basically get Wales. And it's kind of hard to murder your wife's brothers to gain the throne.
It's fascinating to wonder what would have happened if H+E had married before Edward died.
I just begin the Spanish princess and I'm just so obsessed with Henry VII and Elisabeth, they are so beautiful and good for each other ! This video is just perfect, and so emotional..I loved it !
I am obsessed with them. TWQ, TWP & TSP were so good! The casting in TSP was great as a continuation. Jodie & Jacob were great 💖
Now I'm in tears at work. This was absolutely stunning, well done!
AT 2:34 I SWEAR SOMETHING JUST HIT ME IT WASN'T A BRICK OH NO.........IT WAS FEELINGS!💔💔😭😭 P.S The flashbacks you added in this is amazing!
A true love story
King Henry VIII is soooo far from him. He has always been faithful and him...?
Kirsteinne Fernandez i think, henry viii took after his grandfather edward iv and arthur could be like henry vii but who knows
His great uncle, Richard III was no better, so it may have skipped a generation.
Henry Vlll is the opposite of his father when it comes to woman.
To this day, they still remain one of my favorite historical couples. I loved this book.
The part where Henry Is sitting on the floor of the Tower of London is so sad 😞
I haven't even watched the white princess, but this made me cry.
you should watch the white queen and the white princess!
@@madapigi1 i love the White Queen and the White Princess i have both on dvd i love Them
It is so weird to watch the spanish princess first and see how much they loved each other and THAN watching the white princess is so confussing 😂😂😂
btw wonderful editing wow 😍
twpdeki olumsuzlukları yok sayıyorum shjkds teşekkürler :)
Bencede hic olmamis gibi 😂 rica ederim
they had more chemistry than henry and catherine ever had in TSP. they'll be always my favorite couple out of TWQ, TWP and TSP.
this made me cry so much!
Agree!! I think they are the most interesting couple in trilogy (though twq/twp/tsp was inaccurate and full of wrong and bad fictions, they still were shining)
lyapendragon most historical shows and movies are wrong tho. I mean the other movies that are about this period (Richard the third especially) are completely bias. It’s either he’s evil (which is the most common) or he’s misunderstood.
@@sophielou2929 and reign portrayed mary as the holy martyr and elizabeth as evil, which both of them certainly were not (i don't like both of them too much in the show, in history i find them both very interesting and okay)
I 1000% agree with you. The guy playing Henry VIII is just odd looking and doesn't match with his partner. Enemies to lovers is a staple (perhaps THE staple) of romance for a reason.
Her death was even more tragic in that je lost two people that day. The child he loved and his york rose💔💔💔
im just amazed at how starz got actors who looked so much and sounded so much like each other to play older and younger selves.
and this fanvid capturing the love shared between these two is just so sweet
They truly did love each other...their love was rare and epic and forever....
In the beginning I didn't know how much they would grow to honestly love each other..but slowly you saw it. ..that real once in a lifetime love...
He was broken when she died.. 😞 I was bawling too!
Definitely one of my favorite couples!! ❤❤
Poor Lizzie, wasn’t six pregnancies enough?! crumbs! beautiful video ❤️
Lol why do they look so old? She was like 37😂
They tried for last baby because their first child 15 yer old died a sudden death. They couldn't handle this loss.
Of ağlamak istiyorum.. bunların aşkı çok güzeldi..
this is making me so emotional. I’m so glad she learned to love him and him, her. 🥺🥺
Though their marriage was arranged his love for his wife is everlasting. He was so unlike his son Henry VIII.
i hope your grace is in heaven celebrating with your beloved, you children, other family members. happy birthday to a fierce queen!
She was only 37 when she died. Why did they make her look so old?
Every now and then I come to this edit and cry every freaking time, I love it
Him ordering her to stay with him was heartbreaking. Death truly doesn’t discriminate.
Thank you for having the voices louder than the musical track.
i just started watching the spanish princess and i bawled when i got to elizabeth of york's death. and the fact that historically henry loved her so much even after it happened that he ensured her memory kept going and that she was to be remembered every now and then breaks me 😭
Why do they make them look so old here? They were only 52 and 37 when they died.
Agree. Henry looks like he is 60 here. He was 46 when he lost Lizzie...!
@@estherbonaparte7461 I really think that when people truly live eachother the survivor doesn't usually last long after the others passing.
I do not get it either. Henry VII's painting from 1505 did not show any beard and had greying hairlines.
As for Elizabeth of York, based on the variation of the 1500 and 1502 paintings, she looked beautiful and quite young despite being 37 at the time of her death. However, her time was different than ours.
I love the style of this video blending their past with their future and the song dear god is enough to ball my eyes out well done and perfect symmetry
I just wish his son could be like him , *LOVE* his Queen till they part away
this is so beautiful i wanna cry i love them so much xx
Henri 7 na jamais pris de maîtresse il etait très fidèles envers sa femme
She became his friend. She could love him,.
God I hope when Henry got to the great after Henry the 7th and Arthur beat the shit outta him and forced him to apology’s to all 6 wife’s plus Catharine deserved aruther not Henry
Poor Henri. Poor Lizzie
you have to remember that they were enemies between families. and they had never seen each other before Henry became king. hate turned to love
They were my 15th great grandparents. Watching this a bit strange for me.
What a awful death childbirth terrible Henry went out of his mind to loose the child to
I think William the conqueror and Henry vii are the two English kings who never took any mistress and remarried after the death of their spouses ( Matilda of Flanders and Elizabeth of york) 🥰🥰🥰🥰
And also Edward I
Oh my heart😭👏🏾
my historical otp.
that was real love
Aaaaaww their love story is a fave 💖
They were like queen Elizabeth of York parents king Edward iv and queen Elizabeth Woodville
When they first meet each other they hated one another Henry grew to love her the same way she did but this story was heart broken because she and her mother place a curse on the killer of her brother in the tower n lizzie found her other brother n killed him to secure a marriage between Spain so tbh her first son Arthur died n the other babies after Henry n Meg died I was so sad I truly believe in karma she married the same line that she put a curse on but Henry was a true king he was Way better than Edward he had no other lovers n he stay true to lizzie till old age n her death truly hurt him I love king Henry but his mother was so evil I couldn't stand her
UGH! Is someone cutting onions? A very emotional video!! 😭😭
I'm not on Henry viii side but I think and mind ye this is just a theory, but I think he wanted a romance like his parents so badly he would do anything to get it. And his dad taught him so have an heir and a spare so I guess he wanted to do so but that's just my opinion
Omg 😍 This is PERFECT ❤
I'm crying 😢😢😢
Loyalty.
Master's wife and song of 12th DoctorL
Lovely video tribute. Sad, that a dead baby and a coffin were what Queen Elizabeth received for her birthday
this makes me sad.
What is your opinion? Philippa Gregory believes that Henry VII was in love with Catherine Gordon of Scotland, the wife of the men who claimed to be Elizabeth of York's lost brother Richard (and England`s rightful king) and even had an affair with her. Was he perhaps not so faithful?
Philippa Gregory is not a historian, she is historical fiction writer. Henry had no mistress, there is no proof. There is no proof about Catherine Gordon too, she kept company after Elizabeth. Also she was chief mourner at Elizabeth’s funeral, Catherine and Elizabeth were close too.
King Henry enjoyed beautiful women at his court but he was monogamist.

Thanks for the quick reply.
beautiful :'(
I STAN
Henry the 7th didn't have a beard
holy shit im crying what
His son was an absolute disgrace to the entire dynasty
This make me cry. Its perfect.
Henry VII was a red-head. He was part welsh, after all.
What’s the part where it looks like Elizabeth is naked and being tortured? Who is the brunette woman Henry hugs at the end?
But his portraits with dark or fair hair?
I think you talk about Katherine’s birth scene and Elizabeth had a vision about future (of course fiction things). Elizabeth died on the same day (it isn’t accurate though)
The woman is Margaret, his daughter. She went to Scotland because of her marriage, it was their goodbye scene.
lovely
I loved this, but what is the older Henry vii movie called? I know the the more recent movies are called the White Princess and Spanish Princess.. the clips you used for the older couple, what is that series called?
It actually brings me to tears
