Important things to remember: 1) Make sure you have the flight plan compiled via the INIT menu in your MCDU. Also make sure you have filed on VATSIM before you send a PDC. 2) The level in which CPDLC is available for you to conect up will usually be available in the controller information. It does vary. UK controllers usually have CPDLC available from FL195 whereas the German controllers usually have it available from FL315. 3) Don't always expect to be accepted on CPDLC, if you only will be connected up for a few minutes above the CPDLC level, the controller may deny your logon request. Don't worry - this is normal. It will advise you whether the connection has been accepted or not. If not, continue on voice. Thanks again for watching the video so far!
- Great video again, love this type of content. Could you possibly make an Oceanic Clearance tutorial showing us how to request clearance and then on route comms etc and if that includes CPDLC then even better? Cheers👍🏼
Easy to follow video. Many tutorials rush through, speak too fast and information is often missed or is a struggle to link to what you're seeing demonstrated. Your video was at a great pace to keep up and understand what was going on with what you were clicking etc. Thanks Jamie
LC, what perfect timing for this video. I was just starting to get into this literally yesterday and you posted this video. Huge help bro!! Thank you Jamie!
Cracking video, this. Nicely lays out the do's and don'ts, the how and importantly (for me, at least) the why. New sub :) What I'd love to see is how a controller can get setup with CPDLC In fact I'd really love a series on EuroScope, setting it up, connecting to Sandbox or Live, observing and controlling at the different positions from DEL to Area. Mostly, though, how to get the most out of it, which plugins you use and you recommend, aliases, UI tweaks, things like that. That's the dream, right there. I know as a new controller, getting ES setup just right isn't particularly intuitive and there just aren't enough community resources. A video series will, I'm sure, help demystify ES and go a long long way to helping OBS -> STUx students
Really enjoyed that. I'm not a flight swimmer (if that's a term) but found it very interesting. You guys have a lot to think about. Enjoyed your previous video from EMA too. Thanks for posting
Great tutorial, really helpful, thank you. Quick question, in the Fenix (with Hoppie code) I’ve been messaged on CPDLC by an enroute controller without me previously requesting a connection. Can the controllers see all CPDLC capable aircraft and initiate CPDLC contact themselves?
Really usefull. Seen the discussion plenty of times on fora especially people saying its useless to be integrated in the plane itself i.e. the PMDG. Couldn't agree less with that.
Nice tutorial well done. The only thing id say is there are far more addons on far more platforms than just the two you mention. Most of those addons have had that capability for far longer than Fenix has even been around. If its an msfs only tutorial maybe mention that in the title if its generic then failing to mention addons like FSLabs who remember pioneered CPDLC is a significant oversight. A quick look through any forum will see Toliss, FSLabs are widely used because many prefer simulation accuracy. Great timing with Fenix V2 coming out hopefully they have addressed the many many accuracy issues that made it such a poor simulation of what flying a real A320 was actually like. You should do more tutorials your voice and casual manner really suites it. Well done.
Easy-to-understand explanations and detailed illustrations! I'm a vatsim user from China. Since technically we have no access to RUclips, can I translate the video into Chinese and then upload in Bilibili (which is a popular video platform in China)? I will give proper credits. Have a nice day, sir
A great tutorial video for a not-so-easy-to-understand feature. I still have one question not answered. Do I have to be on Vatsim to use it (you mentioned talking with the controller so he can "identify you" before logging in). Can I still use CPDLC without a Vatsim membership (not talking to any controller)? Thanks
Interesting video! I have been flying online since the days of SATCO! I knew of CPDLC but not this much - or even if I could use it. I have the Fenix A320 and the FBW 320NEO. Does the PMDG 737-800 have this capability? And maybe the Headwind A330-900NEO (based on the FBW 320) ? Thanks for the intersting tutorial here. Lee
Do you know how transfers are managed between centers? Does atc automatically redirects my cpdlc to next center or I have to go through the procedure of notifying in MCDU?
Great question - the transfer can happen via our controller clients... but you will most likely have to reconnect with CPDLC on the next sector. Controllers can either send "contact" or "monitor" - so based on what you get that is what you would do! :)
Nice tutorial! Do I need to notify the controller that I have cpdlc when voice speaking by saying like "cpdlc" at the end or he already knows I have it?
Sad that I can't fly the fenix. My msfs gives me horrible performance, I can only fly the fslabs (which crashes during approach since the latest update) or the toliss, which doesn't have as much fidelity.
Does anyone know how to install EasyCPDLC? I downloaded it but nothing happens if I try to run the .exe… Its also quite a weird download folder, with another compressed folder containing the .exe inside the main folder….
@@LONController Thanks for your fast response! Inside the main folder theres another compressed folder called EasyCPDLC containing a ressource folder and the only .exe of the whole download. If I try to open this one nothing happens (tried without extracting this folder and with extracting this folder). Going to try some more things tomorrow…
I am in the Fenix and can send PDC and the controller recieves it, but I do not recieve the reply, I have tried many things, is anyone familiar with this issue or know any fixes?

Very well explained, thanks! Any chance we could have an insight to how this works from a controllers perspective?
Fantastic tutorial! Definitely want to see more of these! Any chance you can do an oceanic tutorial in prep for CTP?
- Great video again, love this type of content.

Hi! - sounds like a great plan, a lot of people have requested that one!
@@LONController Keep up the good work mate, love the streams and really enjoying this RUclips content again 🤝🏼
but need an atc to be online?

Brilliant explanation. I just purchased to the Fenix. I can't wait to give this a shot. Thanks for sharing.
Only just found this vid. Excellent thanks Jamie.

Thank you, so much, I really want to try this.
It would be great to see a video of setting this up as a controller (for clearance)
Thanks for this Jamie. Having recently moved to MSFS a good refresh tutorial. 👍👍👍 Keith
Great video mate, I now know everything there is to know about CDLPCLDC, keep the content coming

The ToLiSS A320neo has CPDLC built in also

Great tutorial. Congrats.
I think the volume of your voice in video was a bit slow. Check it out for the next ones.
Hi! Are you gonna continue the 'LC controls' serie?
Do you know how transfers are managed between centers? Does atc automatically redirects my cpdlc to next center or I have to go through the procedure of notifying in MCDU?

When you get handed off to a new enroute controller via CPDLC, do you still need to check in via voice?
I have a question where you find the ATC CALL SIGN ?
In the controller info box! :)
When I got the clearance via CPDLC what do I need to say to the controller or what will the controller say to me?
Hello, what is the name of that program to know the logon code of each control?
This could have been useful for some pilots last night at egcc. 20 deps
How come some A320’s are missing these units especially on the A320neos?
I’ve been wondering what that screen is for in the Airbus. 😆
If you are given a new frequency through cpdlc do I need to acknowledge that by voice with my current controller or can I just switch frequency?
Maddog also has cpdlc which is great for reducing workload of that bad boy)
Sad that I can't fly the fenix. My msfs gives me horrible performance, I can only fly the fslabs (which crashes during approach since the latest update) or the toliss, which doesn't have as much fidelity.
"On your screen you can see.." FYI in both cases you said this there was nothing on screen except the MSFS view
