    Wow! This is actually more immediately useful than I had hoped! Directly connecting the triads to the Pentatonic positions is great! Thanks!

    I love the idea of livestream videos but youtube's notifications are sketchy at best. But I feel like your audience would ask some great questions so even if I didn't catch the stream live, I'm sure there would still be a lot of good info. Great lesson, Blue!

    Another great lesson. One thing that helped me was to look at a picture of the fretboard with all the notes on it. I figure out the root, third and fifth for a chord and just scan the paper looking for any of the the three notes. When I find one I look for the other two and they are usually right there and you can figure out the triad for your self instead of looking at a book. When you search it out for yourself it also seems to be easier to remember. I then repeat it for each note until I do the exercise for all 7 notes.. I need to figure out arpeggios and modes one day...

    You are the only persn I have seen yet explaining with visuals how the triads can be used with arpeggios ie pentatnic techniques and how to use the n root position triads , dude where have you been hiding.. I try to help guitarist but I do not have the ability to do videos. So you are being body snatched with my notes and your. Diagrams lol ..I think of easy shapes as Dorian shapes as the b to c# to e to f# A to b C# to e f# to A , then using the invisible A on g strong to a on e string that you don’t really highlight but going from e strong to d string root position But knowing the five of the. Root position A major is the beginning of the house of blues omitting the A on the d string nice you make the octave touch down lol You now know you are on. A b ,e f# , c# ie house of blues..a# you can see my inability to make videos makes my explanations in followable lol

    Excellent insightful lesson. Until you start doing livestreams can I ask a question? I understand the scales with the first 2 triad shapes but I do not understand the scale with the 3rd triad shape. The scale you are using looks like box 4 of the F#m pentatonic scale. How does this fit with an A triad?

    • @GuitarLessonsVancouver
      @GuitarLessonsVancouver  11 месяцев назад

      Good question. Every Minor Pentatonic has a relative Major Pentatonic with the same notes. That Shape 4 F#m Pentatonic is also A Major Pentatonic (root on the A string pinky finger). So all the shapes in this triad video are both A Major and F# Minor. More info about how that works in this video ruclips.net/video/2vXMecfmhdc/видео.html

    • @jhn1987
      @jhn1987 11 месяцев назад

      @@GuitarLessonsVancouver Thanks for your reply. I understand the concept of the relative minor. I think what threw me off was that for the first 2 triad shapes you were using Box 1 and Box 2 of the A minor pentatonic scale but then you use Box 4 of the relative minor on the 3rd triad shape. That hurts my brain.

  • @stevesimard5369

    Thanks for the video! I guess it's also best to know every triads and inversed ones that fit in the scale? (and not just the triads of the name of the scale?). But then, what are their relation (to the scale or in general)? You need to play other triads less often, so you kept focus on the main one that are the scale names? (a guess). Thanks again!

    • @GuitarLessonsVancouver
      @GuitarLessonsVancouver  Месяц назад

      Thank you! Yes I like to think of triads as fitting with a particular pentatonic shape. So when you memorize a triad shape, also try to see the pentatonic shape that it fits into. I have more about that in this livestream video we did a few weeks ago: ruclips.net/user/liveKQGqJnvegeE?feature=share

      It's for either acoustic or electric, though more on acoustic It does use only open chords, but really the focus is on the right hand and playing. Starting with basic strum technique, arm direction, then getting more interesting rhythms, longer patterns, adding hammer on's to those strums, walks, and the like.

      The books do cover triads but it's not the focus of the books. Book 1 in minor pentatonic, connecting it to chords, triads, targeting chord tones, etc. Book 2 starts with similar things but all with Major Pentatonic and expands from there, including more on combining scales and chords.

      I plan to have videos of varying length and detail. It's surprising what does well on RUclips and what does not. It's not what you would think! Besides that, musicians hear this kind of complaint all the time. A standard answer is: Would you ask a chef to cook for free? You just wanna eat, right? We all have to make a living. You probably have a job. Do you do it for free? If we couldn't make a living doing guitar lessons, none of these videos would be here. There might be some who would teach for free but likely the quality of instruction would be low. The best teachers are the ones who have had the time to develop their craft and their teaching skills. How do they get good at that? By having the time to get good at teaching... gaining experience as a paid teacher. I've been doing this a long time. I'm glad you're learning from the videos, and there will be many more to come. Some long, some short. But I can't do them for free. I have bills to pay and loved ones to take care of.
