    Pet peeves:
    Poorly maintained caches.
    Bad coordinates.
    Hides that require messing up landscaping.

    Private Property caches always make me feel really weird when I go past all the no trespassing signs, It is still fun though having to be stealthy and silent. Funny cache container! Thanks for the video, keep up all the good work.

    When I was geocaching in my neighborhood I was using my phone and the GPS on my phone was going right in front of my house but there was nothing there so I was confused so I just kept looking and my neighbors cat ran in front of me and I had a container hanging on her coller so I chased the cat and finally she stopped so I went to her and It was a geocache!!!! That's probably the coolest geocache ever!

    • @TheGeocachingVlogger
      @TheGeocachingVlogger  9 лет назад +4

      +Lukas Krauklis Wait....the cache was attached to a cat! haha.

    • @kirstieoriley9724
      @kirstieoriley9724 9 лет назад +5

      +Lukas Krauklis I don't see how this is possible as co-ords don't move unless the owner manually goes in and changes them... with it being attached to an animal the cache does not stay in the one place therefore does not follow the rules.. its like putting a cache on a car! I will believe this when I see a GC to prove it.

    • @endorsedbryce

    I don't have a gps or data to find the geocaches, so I locate where they are via coords on the app. Then I study the surrounding areas via google earth , and that's how I find them

    I am REALLY glad I came across your channel! I have been geocaching for a few years now. I don't know anyone that does this, so it makes it a little difficult sometimes. I feel like I am never looking in the right places. Since I have tried to find way more than I actually found so few it can be frustrating! After this video, I am sure I am making it too difficult. I am going to get back out there after about a one year hiatus and try again. So thanks! Open mind and free time. Cache on!

  • @TheGeocachingVlogger
    @TheGeocachingVlogger  12 лет назад

    ya think so? I would say most of the time the cache location is within 10-15 feet for me.

    I liked you pointing out that a phone can have great coordinates. Many older cachers who haven't used a phone for caching can be very negative towards them. That said, you're right the biggest down side is lack of data, but programs like C:geo and static maps and PQ's are a great way to still use it w/o using data. I use that when traveling internationally. That said, you generally will loose GPS accuracy quicker on a phone when in dense foilage. I'd recommend a handheld GPSr as well.

    Nice to see some familiar caches. I noticed you were in a park where I had a cache hidden. I say "had" because it was muggled. Too bad because it was a semi-evil hide that I had spent a good amount of time creating. I hope to get one back up there soon!

    On the iPhones (the ones with GPS) I don't think you need cell reception to use the GPS. The GPS feature doesn't use cell reception to work, so it doesn't need a cell reception. Might apply to other phones as well.

    there wasn't a no trespassing rock when i went to the Jesse Ventura one. someone must have put it there recently. lots of teenagers hang out at this park at night. a cache named Yabba Dabba Doo was up in a tree that spans across a small creek. i had to climb across and poke it out of the tree. some friendly muggles helped

    Just wanted to share - I use the same GPS as you and my iphone 4s. There have been a few caches where my GPS is jumping like crazy and I finally get frustrated enough with it that I check my phone. My phone will be spot on. In fact one particular cache my gps said I was 250 feet away when I was at GZ. I'm not saying my phone is perfect but it's nice to have a back up.
