I own a HPC cycle that Chris and the crew built me last spring...their products are amazing...their quality is unmatched....Best of luck and CHEERS to the HPC crew.....joyous holidays to all.....
Awesome, makes us feel like anything is possible! We've just started selling a Surly moonlander fat bike with a 350 watt motor. Not nearly as powerful, but still pretty fun for riders looking to have a little fun around the park! - Jack
I've been riding Recumbent Electric bikes for 4 years now & loving it!! I rode the bike in my profile pic across MT 800 miles in 8 days without a motor! Leo K
that looks like so much fun. And in its natural environment as opposed to just out in a back alley at a trade show or near a store in suburbia. I wonder if more dune areas and acreage could open up to electric motor only machines since they are so silent and smoke-free. Pismo used to have almost 10k acres of riding, now a crowded 1000. Lets turn that around
There's definitely pollution caused by these machines. Traditional fuel sources are used to mine, transport and manufacture the components and subsequent recycling ( if used ) then uses further energy which then causes further pollution. There is currently no energy supply which is truely pollutent free or sustainable (including wind or solar) without the reliance of fossil fuels in the manufacturing process. Perpetual motion simply does not and most likely never will occur. Alternative fuels and "e" appliances are great because there is the potential to reduce traditional fuel usage, not do away with it. They're also great because the pollutents are usually concentrated in some one else's neighbourhood, often in a third world country where the consumers of these products rairly live.
Considered modding a Lefty for that fat bike? I've been wondering how one would fit a motor over that solid stub, and skip all the anti-torque headaches.
That's the kind of bike I want. I'm 200 lbs and want to go fishing on remote beaches maybe 5 miles one way. I also need ability to carry fishing rods, buckets and tackle. Corrosion resistant components and sand resistant design. Any suggestions?
+NotIrishRider first I thought WTF is NotIrishRider talking about but I see the bike now. Says it's bulletproof. Expensive. What wheel size diameter is their biggest? But a bucket of sand on that machine would likely render it useless
Norman Hirsch sand more than likely it is also expensive but on the road its quite quick but now thinking about it, you'r requirements simply call for a kit you can install yourself on any bike as most electric bikes of today are really expensive and quite small. You can simply get a nice cheap mountain bike nothing too fancy and install an electric motor as well as battery on the frame wire's should be rather straight forward and you could save alot of money, i also appriciate you looking up what i said instead of yelling at me like most people on the internet do.
I'm not sure those batteries really have the grunt for that output. Anyone know if you could run these off lead/acid batteries provided you had a bigger frame?
Very cool! I wish more of the footage didn't have two stroke engine noise from the other vehicles. It kind of spoiled the effect. :-) I'm now actively planning a low cost 2WD solar powered electric bike conversion of my old Trek mountain bike. It's not fat capable, but I'm putting the widest tires on it that I can get. It'll mostly be an urban assault vehicle. I'll use a high current commercial motor controller if I can (probably) but I may build my own three phase motor controller if I decide that I'd rather have regenerative braking with direct drive hub motors for all of the in town use rather than the added no cogging efficiency of a free wheeling geared hub and no regenerative braking.
+AZTigerlilly Parts for my e-bike conversion are streaming in every day. Today, I got the LED tail light, a DC-to-DC voltage converter to power the 12VDC tail light from a 48+V battery, and a four place automotive fuse block. My e-bike is the LibertyMobile 2.0, designed to do most of what a motorcycle can do in town, in bike lanes, with no driver's license, registration, insurance, property taxes, license plate, title, etc. As such, I want it to look as much like an old beater bike as possible so the police ignore it and bike thieves ignore it. I'm almost ready to order the motor and motor controller kit, and the lithium batteries to make the battery pack. I'm planning two videos. One will be a tour of the bike, its features, and how I built it. The other video will be a short trip to demonstrate its performance. It's early winter, so I'm not in a huge hurry. It'll probably be 1-2 months before I post the videos.
+Liberty4Ever Your videos can't be far away now. Looking forward to them. I've just finished my first build. The toughest part was making the moulds for my tyre manufacturing. Your solar panels are a good idea. They might charge your watch, while you pedal along. A tip - fill the frame tubes and tyres with hydrogen. It's 14 times lighter than air - you'll be able to pick up your bike with your teeth. I'm working on a vacuum generator, suspended out in front of the bike. I should gradually build speed until I enter the 14th dimension.
+Steve Gould - The solar panels are for the roof of my house, to charge my e-bike while I'm not riding it, although some people who tour with an e-bike generate 100-200 watts of solar power from a solar cell on a bike trailer, while in motion and while parked, so the concept isn't totally impractical. Say hi to my cousin Buckaroo Banzai when you pass through the 14th dimension. I bought a 1500W rear wheel e-bike kit from China, and I'm well along on my winter e-bike project. I do 10-30 minutes of work on it every evening. ETA is one month from now, when the weather is warm enough to ride. I'd recommend buying a full suspension mountain bike with mechanically actuated disc brakes. That conversion is quick and easy, and the resulting e-bike is very nice. Most of my work has been repairing and upgrading my old bike. In the end, I only kept the frame and a few components, so the upgrade cost wasn't much less than buying a new bike, but I treated the work as a hobby and I've enjoyed the e-bike build.
it looks fun and exciting yet my question is do you have a kt that can fit a smaller wheel my wheel is 20 x 2.125 inches.. its a banana seat bike lol i know its funny.. yet i'd like to put an electric motor on it i just didnt consider the wheel sizes any options for my guys?
Why couldn't you fit a hubby into a 20" wheel? It ought to work better! A hubmotor will give you more torque and probably more distance, in a smaller wheel.
hi thanks for respondig to my question about if I could fit a 20" wheel on my banana seat bike ..thanks for the advice for a hubmotor.. not bad,,im not e genius in electricity but 5000 watts on the front wheel and 5000 on the rear wheel on the same vehicle its ALWAYS 5000 WATTS NOT 10000WATTS
basse man You are right--you are not a genius in electricity. He said in the previous video that the system is driven at 100V. If each motor consumes 5kWh of energy, then the system will use 10 kWh of energy. If that is true, then he would need a very high capacity battery pack. If we assume he uses 18650 li-ion cells (3.1Ah@3.6V--like the cells used in a Tesla battery pack) & he uses 80% of the batt charge, to get his 10 kWh, then his batt pack would need to be at least 12.5 kWh (28S32P - i.e. 28 serially-connected banks (with each bank having 32 cells connected in parallel). If he drives the motors hard (like in the video), he'll get his 10 kWh of energy, but not all of that energy will be converted to locomotion--a sizeable portion of the energy will be dissipated as heat--which will lead to less than 1 hr of ride time.
+Johnny V Well not really. The fastest motorcycle in the world is an e-bike. The real problem is cost. You could buy 5 dirt bikes for what it would cost to build an e-bike that could compete with a dirt bike.
No issues with assembly for me ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L but I could see where some might benefit from using an experienced bike assembler/mechanic. I'm an older rider starting back after a 10 year break. This bike exceeds my capabilities and has been easy to get comfortable riding. I'm mostly on easy trails with almost no street riding and have not been disappointed with the performance of the bike. My fitness level is far below what I previously rode with and because of that the mileage is going on the bike slowly. While I'm losing weight slowly, the bike seems to tolerate my 220 pounds just fine. The bike has been used by several family members ranging from 5'5" - 5'9".
Nice area, but might as well ride a dirt bike. This lacks the necessary power. I am still hopefull to see that the electric motor will eventually dominate the field ,, one day one day.
so if 10,000watts divided by 750 gets you a rough horsepower of 13 (peak, as in a few seconds before the motors heat up and the esc heats up and the batteries and the wires heat up and lose power vs a gas motor which gains power when heated up). This is the power equivalent of a 4 stroke 125 or roughly an 80cc higher end 2 stroke. Probably 10% lighter than the 2 stroke and 30% lighter than the 4 stroke. Is it legally a motorcycle? In California it sure is. It's illegally a motorcycle.. No vin, on street, registered vehicles only on off road parks like (kof) the dunes.. Technically (above 2.5 hp no longer in assisted bicycle class.. past power output of a 50cc = past moped class.. you are a Vespa. aka a scooter. aka.. yes. a Motorcycle. An M2 would not cut it you would need an M1 aka a motorcycle license. I have no idea what you would need to do maybe take it to California BAR/ ask for a vin # under a special project and get CHP to pass it. Turn signals.. Brake lights.. Horn.. Though obviously enforcement will be less than a gas engine this is by letter of law on the street and all places that require vehicles that are legal on the street or legally within the system.. hella illegal. (AKA Private Property Only) The real question. Is it cooler than riding the dunes on an 80cc 2 stroke for an adult? I'm saying neither has enough power for stupid stuff. I see no roosters or wheelies or steep dune climbs here. Cool and fun. yes. Badass level speed? no. Is it cooler than an 80cc.. sure. yes. It's weird and kinda styley. Frankly I'd like to see a video of this with an 80lb or 100lb kid on it. I bet it sails then. Like an 80' For 6 minutes. lol tops. Then a few hours of charging time unless that's a 5 thousand dollar battery pack. N' yea No suspension on high speed off road.. Ditch those motors and slap on an ETEK.
You should just build it as an electric motorcycle, having this much power in such a small little bike seems dumb. If it is more like a dirtbike people will get use to it faster.
I own a HPC cycle that Chris and the crew built me last spring...their products are amazing...their quality is unmatched....Best of luck and CHEERS to the HPC crew.....joyous holidays to all.....

Yeah, all the power going to charge it totally isn't coming from fossil fuels.
exactly

is there any kits for the stingray chopper bikes?

How is a dual motor ebike se tup? Do you need 2 controllers and 2 batteries?

you need 10000W on the rear wheel

wow..most awesome..the bigfoot..!!! yeah!
Is that glamis
*rides for 15 mins* then signals to be picked up by atv because battery died. get a 2 stroke gas engine. i put one on my trek fx. revs loud. goes 30 mph. its amazing
this thing probably goes 80+ mph and have 10x more torque than your loud as 2 stroke bike
How fast is it?
Please offer different colors!!
how much does it costs?
Pretty bad ass
the battery cannot take it for a long time. most of the people will not go desert or a place only moutain and sands. ebike are generally used for simple travel and curise. travel a place to another to buy something. most all the time is road.
That thing handles the sand easy
You could have powered the bike in Oblivion with this! (They just used a petrol bike and dressed it as e-bike)
10,000 watts..............WOW!
I would think that the sand would eat up the chain and gears. But hey, "Rock on"
fun in the city, boring at the dunes.
can't say that for certain if your not there
wayd19 tickets in the city, not at the dunes
And after 45 min when the battery dies, good luck pedaling that behemoth.
CHIXTERS' CHANNEL connect solar panel to it or small generator in the pedal sprocket to charge Batteries. lol you could even install a small 12 volt alternator depending on the battery Bank what volt it is to charge the batteries... open your mind
after any gas vehicle runs outta gas, good luck pushing that behemoth
Size, weight, SPACE!!? what the F&*K are you talking about! Pounds baby pounds! Good luck pushing that behemoth.
TESLA? AUDI? WEIGHT!? Whaaaaat the F&*% You talking about!!?? After your Gashole vehicle runs outta fuel. Good luck pushing that behemoth!
This makes no sense. Whats the point of this? Comment is Flagged. BEV's for the win.
ill take a yz 450cc please! 2 strokes forever
Kid your slow
Electric motors will always win thanks to instant torque you don't get instant torque with ANY liquid fuelled engine (rocket engines don't count)
Where's your dune flag....
I want one. . just send me the info.
not bad,,im not e genius in electricity but 5000 watts on the front wheel and 5000 on the rear wheel on the same vehicle its ALWAYS 5000 WATTS NOT 10000WATTS
basse man Always? I want some proof that 5,000W * 2 does not equal 10,000W
Why am I the idiot? I was agreeing with you. I asked basse man for proof. Come on *****, read what I say before going on a rant.

are you filming with a potato????
just a shame combustion engine motorbikes will be way cheaper, practical and all that for a decade or two more. 5000 for a conversion kit lmao.

Y it sound like a dirt bike
All that sand and not a single rooster tail what a waste
Nice area, but might as well ride a dirt bike. This lacks the necessary power. I am still hopefull to see that the electric motor will eventually dominate the field ,, one day one day.
Barley makes it up a hill
so if 10,000watts divided by 750 gets you a rough horsepower of 13 (peak, as in a few seconds before the motors heat up and the esc heats up and the batteries and the wires heat up and lose power vs a gas motor which gains power when heated up).
Morgan Tilford jheeezz the OCD just kicked in
Hurts my eyes .
You should just build it as an electric motorcycle, having this much power in such a small little bike seems dumb. If it is more like a dirtbike people will get use to it faster.
buy a motorbike its cheaper !
a mid drive would smoke this bike easily. hub wheels are shit for torque
that thing did not, by any means, conquer the dunes.
hahhah
Thats an expensive moped at the dunes
Just get a motorized dirt bike
So you proved it's crap on dunes. How about some top speed facts along with mileage? You know? Something useful
all that money into that shit bike and it can't even climb a hill get a dirt bike these bikes are waste of money
My god could you go any slower? Looks like we're watching driving miss daisy.
