Yeah spot on mate, I got one as my first bike ever last year (did DAS and went straight on the VFR) and it's been a brilliant bike. Only time I dropped it was when I was putting the center stand on in the rain and my foot slipped. It's quite a tame bike if you ride it responsibly, keeping it below 7000rpm and for the first few months I did. Eventually you get addicted to the VTEC and inevitably speed a lot more often 😂

Went from a 1983 Yamaha xj750 as my first bike to an 2003 vfr800 as my second, much more respect is required for the vfr.

Welsh border roads? Looks familiar, I ride Brecon, Abergavenny etc. I did a long ride down west coast of Ireland last year on my 03, wonderful bike, my second proper bike and maybe my last, although the Hayabusa beckons, exactly my thoughts too! I have only been riding a couple of years, I am 62 and playing catch up!

Ah, the roads are like this all over the UK unfortunately, so it's a rare treat to get a few corners you can see around before you're leaned over!

I have a 2017. And you're right. It's a keeper. There's not much it doesn't do. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but it does what it does. And does it well.

My 2003, dropped once, crashed twice, rebuilt twice, love my VFR, didn’t control the speed, the bike is so beguiling 👍❤️

Yeah it does have the ability to GO. The weight doesn't help when coming into a corner either, have to push really hard to turn at higher speeds 😂
