As an older person coming back to motorcycles living in the U.K I have been drooling over this model. It ticks all the boxes for style and ergonomics. I need to save up my pennies for a long time as they seem to be holding the value Hoping you are a generous benefactor and ship it to me. loved this content and presentation. Genuine and heart felt.

Love my 04 VFR, owned it from new. CBR600F4i front forks,8 spoke rear wheel, SP1 brakes (linked brakes removed) 24kg of weight removed. Catless headers,Power commander with custom map. Runs beautifully and in my opinion how Honda should have built it. Everyone who owns one keeps them for ever. They are awesome bikes with a peach of an engine. Had mine 19 years now and will never sell 😊
Hi Laurentiu, I only have a VFR but with CBR parts on it. The VFR is heavier than the CBR but way better for longer trips. I suggest you try one as when I did I fell in love with the V4 engine. I had a Yamaha R6 before my VFR and can travel just as fast with as much fun but with a bit more comfort
That's a true comment, people tend to keep them, especially the 750. Thanks for sharing your mods. I'm riding the white 1200 seen in the video and loving it.

I changed the oil and jumped on my 2017 vfr last year and toured all summer over 10,000mile around Europe… never missed a beat.. so reliable it gives you the confidence to go anywhere! Sold it when I got home and realized I made a mistake about a month later but it was too late! Wish I still had it.. bought a 97 750 just for kicks it’s a great bike to but loved the 800…

Nik - excellent VFR review. I bought my white '06 VFR with 9k miles and now have 56k miles and love it!! Funny story... I sold it at 50k miles and replaced it with a beautiful '04 BMW R1100S, but I didn't ride it as much - it just wasn't 'dynamic' compared to the VFR ...so I bought back my VFR and sold the R1100S!!! Will never sell my VFR again!
Awesome story. I could see why one would want to buy this bike back. My 1200 VFR is very satisfying, but i still miss the VTech. I was parked next to a fully equipped 6th gen yesterday and found it interesting how much sportier the 1200 sits, and the luggage is at least 10 inches lower on the bike, both side cases and top case.

Honda all the way. Build quality at the best. For your money can’t buy better bike than Honda. My personal experience in my 20 years of riding and I’m 36. I had all kind of bikes and since first time I had Honda vfr800 I fall in love with that v4 sound. I still keep my vfr in garage. It’s only 60.000 kilometers (37282 miles) and for that engine that’s literally nothing. Except the oil, filters and chains and sprockets I never changed anything else on that bike. It’s 2008 and now it’s been 16 years old bike, but still on the street they turn around their head and admire the beautiful design that Honda made. Legendary! Cheers to everyone out there. And safe road. Also thank you for this nice review and your time to make it sir.
I appreciate you taking the time to comment t and complement. Glad you found 8t accurate. I'm riding the 1200 in this video but I miss the vtech. Stay tuned for that review. All the best in 2024.

Also seat hight and positon from your angle of view ? Thank you so much. All the best to you and your loved ones in 2024 !

I bought one of these years ago with 110,000km on it. Ran perfectly, took it to my mechanic and he said the engine was in excellent condition. The body looked like it had only 10,000km on it, amazing how well it presented for the kms it had travelled. Really a beautiful bike that I enjoyed a lot. So stable on the road and lovely engine note with aftermarket exhaust
Thank you so much for watching in for taking the time to participation in conversation. That's a lot of miles but the bike is really well engineered so it's great to hear that they sell even after 100k. I see local gold wings for sale with close to 200,000 miles which is unheard of or any other motorcycle. Since changed to the bigger brother, the 1200 VFR so please stay tuned for that review. Just wanted to add here in the later model years of the sixth gen VFR Honda addressed the complaint of vted activating and deactivating repeatedly when holding near 6400rpm which was a concern in turns for some riders. They fixed this by making it so vtec activates at ~6800rpm then deactivates at ~6400rpm so you can hold the bike at either of those rpm's and the bike will either engage or disengage vtec and stay that way instead of going back and forth. I've ridden a 2007 VFR and it really helps smooth out the transition into and out of vtec. Great review by the way! Very engaging and interesting.
Thank you so very much for participating in the conversation and adding that valuable info. I also reviewed the white 1200 which I ride now. Cheers. Nik
Fantastic review, easily the best on RUclips. Im sold. Can pick up one up locally for £1800. Hell of a lot of bike for the money! Used to own the VFR400 about 8 years ago, and have always regretted selling it...might just have to get both...

I just finished watching your video, thank you very much for such a full and detailed review of the VFR, which I have had for several months, 2017 model, brilliant motorcycle, greetings from Poland 🇵🇱🤜🤛
1983. VF750F ridden by Freddie Spencer in AMA competition. This was the first departure from inline 4's. That V4 motor is the origin of the entire VFR lineup.
Good video, very thorough and detailed review. The linked brakes, having 3 pistons on each front caliper, only operates the middle piston on the left caliper when pressing the rear brake lever. The front lever operates all 5 of the other front caliper pistons. When using the front brakes, the auxiliary cylinder on the left front caliper sends pressure to one of the pistons on the rear caliper.

So let me explain 😊 about brakes. Front lever actuates front RH caliper, 3 pistons, front LH caliper, 2 pistons....and an integral system from front LH caliper will actuate rear caliper middle piston. Rear brake pedal will actuate two remaining rear pistons on rear caliper and as well 1 piston on LH front caliper. So that is how the brakes on VFR800 6 gen works. Mine is 2005 and I love it.....just beautiful bike, engine is a pure diamond. Vtec is not so abrupt if you are gentle with it. Thank You for sharing this video😊
Thanks for this. Always liked the VFR although I've never had the chance to try one. Just now really diving into Sport Tourers after 20+ years riding race replicas.
Thanks for watching. You are in the right place then since I've reviewed many of them. I hope you find the info you need here to pick the bike that best wood your needs. Great to have you. Cheers. Nik

Excellent video on my favourite motorcycle of all time. I have a 2005 VFR 800 vtec in red with all the luggage too 😉. They are beautiful timeless and well built machines.
I always thought that was a beautiful bike as well and although I've never ridden one it looks very well balanced between power and handling as well as between sportiness and functionality, plus they were always reasonably priced. I really enjoy your perspective on motorcycles, another great video!

I watched this review, then went out to buy my first bike! Honestly, I was intimidated by the thought of starting on something big and heavy, but it turned out to be a very good decision. The bike is smooth as butter, and once you change the pipes, the sound becomes beastly (if you care for that). Handling is also great, though manoeuvring it in the garage can be a hassle. Loved your Video, very informative!

I have always like this gen of VFR800. I test road one once and it felt too sport. I did get a Concours 14 with 2" bar risers. Sold it but now 4yrs later I bought a NC700X for a gas saving tool and it's actually not bad. Fun to be back on 2 wheels and easy to work on, takes up less space in the garage and I get 62-64mpg on a regular basis without even trying to baby the throttle.
Thanks for sharing. I've owned and reviewed both the concours and the NC. I loved the Honda, took it down to Baja Mexico and correctly predicted it would be the platform for the next best thing in adv touring. Check it out, I think you'll like my video. It was to see A friend off who just returned after 2.5 years of touring Latin America on a bike I sold him. Cheers. Nik

Great review of the vfr. But I think your understanding about the side braking effect is not really exact. (around 26:00) since the rotor is located in between the forks, probably less than 2 inches from the center axle, the turning force applied on the front axle would be very small, negligible compared to the handlebar's distance to the center of the fork (your hands), therefore, you'll never really feel the brake-steering effect even if it's a single rotor at the front... like a lot of motorcycles are single front rotor. Your example of a side-cart demonstrated the effect of a turning moment applied from almost 1-1/2 feet away from the center of the motorcycle. my understanding of the C-brake is only 1 pair of pistons at the front get activated from the foot brake. because some might use foot brake while turning, and you really don't want too much front brake during a turn.
Thank you so much for that explanation. I'm really grateful to you for taking the time. I always learn so much from my viewers and this is a perfect example. Thank you also for watching my review. Right now I'm writing the white 1200 that's seen in here so stay tuned for that. The next review being released will be of a Triumph 1200 Daytona from 1996. I hope to hear from you then. Cheers

Nice vid as always. Just a couple of points I noticed. The early VFR750 wasn’t VTEC. The first 800 did have gear driven cams. And the VTEC systems on Honda cars operates differently. And Honda’s V4 engines began on the Magna and Sabre in 1982, and then the first VF750F Interceptors in 1983. Those engines were the ones that had early cam issues which for a while damaged Honda’s excellent reliability record. The VFR750 Interceptor was a complete redevelopment to regain that reputation. Interestingly the US models of the VF750F Interceptors (with the solid alloy wheels) were built in Honda’s Marysville Ohio plant. I have one here in the UK that’s sadly still in need of a full restoration. Too many projects and too little time. Ride safe. Peace

I'm 66 years old. Now have 64,000 on. the 2 pistons top and bottom on each side when front brake applied, and the middle one on rear. The idea with combined braking is keeping the bike more stable and no abs with adds weight. If you really know how to use booth brakes at the same time combined braking is really not necessary . Honda looking out for the rider.
Well I have to add this, people like v-tec because you do feel it when it kicks in. My gear driven model all 4 valves working all the time , so in a sense v-tec all the time. And the sound lets you know. Sorry I would not trade.

VFR's are brilliant bikes in my view. It is a shame but it seems this particular generation came under some criticism. Its nice to see some positive perspective on the breaks and the Vtec. I wish Honda would bring out a new version to compete with the Suzuki Gt and the Kawasaki SX. Great review, thanks.

I am going to look and most likely buy a 2006 in white with only 8900 original miles for 5k tomorrow morning. Can’t wait ,, this should be my last motorcycle being 56 and retired.
Omg this ended up being a trashed 8900 mile bike. Was unsafe to ride. No break fluid in the master, clutch slave was empty, 12 yr old front tire, scratch up that you can’t see in pics, no maintenance records, black oil . Just a sad example that might be worth 2500 and not 5000. Would need everything done maintenance wise. Not worth the effort. Passed
If you didn’t see the mileage you would have thought it was in the 40,000 mile range just by looking at it. Brake pads worn , chain and sprockets bad. Was just a huge disappointment.

Great and very comprehensive review of the Honda VTEC! I will be subscribing as I haven’t seen another independent reviewer who does such a complete job of explaining what these VTEC bikes are all about. I am in the market for one and with the help of your review I am now better informed about these bikes from Honda. I have been considering a BMW ST that is basically in the same class but I have heard that parts for BMW’s are considerably more expensive than what they are for Honda’s. I really like what BMW has to offer but I’m not sure I want a massive bill every time something needs to be repaired.on them. They are both very good brands known for their quality workmanship so my decision on which one I eventually get will be determined by its overall cost when everything is considered. Thanks for the very good video and I look forward to seeing more.

Good video, thank you. My Honda's are a bit older: an early ST1100 and a RC36-2, a 4th gen VFR 750. I'm still struggling which of the 2 I prefer most. The VFR is a lot more handy in the garage, yet the lump of the ST vanishes once you ride it. The biggest problem for me with regards to the VFR is that it does not provide the same luxurious feel the ST does. Very personal of course. I'm probably secretly longing for a Gold Wing... I'm old, that's my excuse!
I have to say I don't have experience with the St as of yet. I'm now riding the VFR 1200 that's visible in this video and I'm really loving that motorcycle. It was created first as a concept vehicle and it sure feels that spirit. It's extremely sporty and even the luggage sits a good 10 in lower than on the 800. It surprised me when I saw them side by side. Very satisfying and beautiful motorcycle. And as for gold wings, don't be so quick to judge about the age, I've owned more gold wings than I can count on one hand, including the two that I own now and the two that were from the first generation. I find that to be an exceptionally sporty and comfortable touring bike, and there's nothing not to like about it. One of the most popular reviews on this channel is of my 2003 Goldwing actually as well as the gold wings buyers guide. I've also reviewed the first generation Goldwing and provided some history there if you're interested. Careful though, if you watch it, I'm willing to bet you're going to want to go out and buy one. I'm only 35 and don't feel like these bikes ought to be delegated to the older Riders. A great motorcycle will appeal to any motorcyclist. Thank you so much for watching and participating in the conversation and I look forward to your take on the Goldwing now that the spark has been list. Do take a look at my playlist though because if you look for one, there are a few things you'd want to know in advance what to look for. I also interviewed on this channel a gentleman traveling around the country pulling a trailer behind his Goldwing and that's a very interesting conversation. Thank you for being part of this community.
@@pegasusmotorcycletours Thank you very much. I will certainly have a look at your playlist. Very interesting what you wrtite about the Gold Wing. By the way, many people regard the ST's also as grand dad bikes. Now as it happens, I did turn 70 this year... And am a grand dad 🙂...

5:29 You sure this is correct? The Vtec engine didn't have gear driven cams, but used a timing chain instead as it has cam chain tensioners which wear and need changing periodically. The 5th and 4th gen bikes have gear driven cams. Earlier gens might even have them as well. 34:00 the reason why bikes and indeed cars in California, southern USA are in much better condition is the milder drier climate compared to further north and in northern Europe.
Thanks for your input. I'm pretty sure - it's actually written on the bike itself. Same timestamp, look at the decal on the side fairing where ot.meets the front fairing.

I'm on my third VFR. The first was a 1992 VFR750. The second was a 1997 VFR750 and my current is a 2008 VFR800 that I bought new in 2010 still in the crate. The VFR enjoys a loyal following. Very fee VFR owner sell to buy a different bike. We stay with the VFR.
Thanks for sharing. I am riding the white 1200 one in the video now and find it very pleasing albeit wired. I wish it had ride modes to tone it down for the every day. I find myself riding very aggressively with it. Very hot on the left side too. I miss my 800

Thank you for watching and for participating in a conversation. I'm glad you found the review worthwhile. Right now I am riding the Big brother 1200 VFR so please stay tuned for that cuz that's a monster of a machine. The next review being released is going to be somewhat out of the ordinary for this channel but I'm definitely trying to reach wider audiences and especially women cuz mostly it's been just men watching my content. Nothing particularly wrong with that but it would be nice to get some women Riders as well. A review after that possibly next weekend will be of my 1996 Triumph Daytona 1200 so I hope to see you there.

Owned a 1995, 2001, 2007 Anniversary Edition, and a 2015. Still have the '95 and the '01. Styling wise, you're correct, the sixth-gen is the best looking in any color (the '04 Asphalt Black and the '07 Anniversary tri-color are probably the coolest). Just not red (then it looks like a smashed crab). The factory luggage was a nice touch, too, even though it was expensive. Honda took everything that was good about the V-TEC and completely neutered it on the eighth-gen. The valve adjustments were a PITA though. I'm a sucker for gear-driven cams, that whine sounds better to me than the V-TEC ever was. That's a subjective thing though. Regardless, this is quite possibly the most comprehensive review of the VFR800, of any generation, on RUclips. I commend you on your editing and thoroughness. Well done, sir!
Well, that is huge praise considering your experience with these motorcycles. It was a Herculean effort to put it together but I'm really glad to hear this review is getting appreciated by knowledgeable owners. I'm a happy owner of the white 1200 scene in this video and I can't imagine selling it anytime soon. I've noticed the luggage sits at least 10 in lower than the 800, which makes the whole bike very sporty looking. I just find the luggage incredibly useful and actually only recently realized that one can in fact fit a full size helmet in the side case if it's turned on the side and looking towards the rear. So so far the 1200 meets all my commuting needs. Please stay tuned for that review in the near future, and thank you very much again for taking the time to watch and to comment and compliment.
@@suddendilemma5137 I liked my eighth-gen, just not as much as my fourth or fifth gen. Coming off an F4i, you will likely appreciate the riding position of the VFR, as it'll be fairly close to what you're used to. I found the eighth-gen to be more sport-postured than the older generations and added the Honda handlebar risers to compensate. That did the trick; wish they would include those like the do the solo seat cowl. I had the Deluxe version, so I had the adjustable suspension, heated grips, self-canceling indicators (they were more annoying than helpful), two-stage TC, and ABS. The suspension, heated grips, and ABS were worth the extra cost. There wasn't any way to turn off the self-canceling indicators, they would stay on for 300 feet and that's it. I felt they either canceled too early or stayed on too long after making a turn. The TC was basically on/off and you couldn't really tell the difference other than in the rain. The LED headlight was awesome. Mirrors were fantastic. I added the electronic quick-shifter which made it a lot of fun. Overall, I was happy with it for the time I had it, but after riding from Nashville to Orlando in a single shot (700+ mi) in order to get home before a hurricane hit, I wanted something that would be more comfortable, so I traded in the eighth-gen for an FJR1300 and never looked back. I will always love a V4, but sans V-TEC and sportbike ergos. Hope this helps.

I would recommend you try a Suzuki Brugman 650. I sold my Kawasaki ZX14R and kept the Brugman. Since you had the Concours, you would appreciate the smoothness and massive luggage of the Brugman

What I liked most about the review was your personal experience riding it, loading it, moving, etc….nice job I subscribed! Also just bought a 2006 pearl white with luggage and abs, as a project. Would you have any suggestions for tires, parts sellers or forums related to the VFR800A?
Thank you for watching and participating in the conversation. I'm happy to hear that you found the review worthwhile. Congratulations on your new bike, made treat you well. I found the Facebook VFR 800 group to be very helpful. And the tires that I found most worthwhile for the price are the Continental conti-motion sport touring tires. Great looking too.

the early VF750 (not VFR) had catastrophic cam chain failures so Honda over engineered the VFR given it gear driven cams to gain back customer confidence in the V Four engines.
I heard that while researching. I don't have any experience with earlier VFRs. Right now I'm riding a 96 Daytona 1200. Thanks for watching and participating in the conversation.
The first VF750F Interceptors in 1983 (along with the earlier Magna and Sabre) actually had cam issues which for a while damaged Honda’s excellent reliability record. The problem was eventually traced to a production casting issue that they eventually sorted. The cam chains are actually very strong. The VFR750 Interceptor was a complete redevelopment to regain that reputation.

I picked up 08 VFR800 ABS with full luggage and the amount of storage on this sporty tourer cannot be overstated. Did yours come with the Honda soft inserts? I replaced the cables with SS braided steel. It's worth mentioning that the luggage is limited to 130 km/h.
Thanks for watching. I don't have the inserts. I have since switched to the 1200 and the luggage doors at least 8 inches lower which side by side parked makes the 1200 appear much sportier.

Had my eyes for one of these few years back but ended up on an FZ1 Fazer instead back then, after 2 years I wanted ABS, 2 up availability and to be more upright. Therefore I bought myself a FJ 09 Tracer and then another one the same, been riding those for 4 years now total but still love the looks of the VFR. The one that got away i guess. Thinking of switching again although the Tracer has been phenomenal, you think I'd be disappointed going to something that much older? The 6th generation definetly looks the best and would be my choice. Does it also work as good for 2 up touring as my tracer has? :) Great review and both of them VFRs look great. 👍👍
Thanks for watching. I haven't had the pleasure of owning the Fix or FJ yet. Right now I'm enjoying the 1200 VFR and find it to be almost everything I like in a bike. Looks wise it can't be beat. Please stay tuned for that review. I think anyone will appreciate the vfr800 VTech. I still miss the VTech since the new one doesn't have it. The 1200 is definitely more adequate for two up, but the 800 will do the job. Nothing beats three piece matching luggage.

I got the 93 (2017) model. I find it too forward positioned and the windscreen is useless. I am thinking of selling it again and buy something with a more upright position. The rest is really nice, but not for long distances ( just not for me).
Thank you for watching and participating in the conversation. Right now I'm riding the white 1200 that you see in this video. What I've been surprised by is putting them side by side how much higher the luggage of the 800 stands compared to the 1200. The difference is at least 8 in if not more for all three bags. So the 1200 really has a more aggressive stance. I don't know if you had any opportunities to sit on one?

Have one and I wish it was a hundred pounds lighter. Fantastic for me on the interstate but for normal around town riding I prefer something with a more neutral riding position and not so much mass. And I don't ride mine in the summer heat either. I really should sell it.
The VFR 1200 feels even heavier although the luggage is set about 8 in or so lower which makes it handle differently and look a lot sportier as well. That's what I am writing now and I love that bike. Although I do miss the vtech

Thanks for the great reviews! I actually found the channel looking at the KLR650, DR650, and F650 videos, but then was researching the VFR as a replacement for my old 93 CBR1000F. Your video definitely aided in that decision and now I own an 07 VFR. Unfortunately mine was not the deluxe model, so at some point I'll be looking at luggage. Is there any soft luggage you think will work, and if so any recommendations? Or would I be better off saving my money for a set built specifically around the bike and it's under tail exhaust? Keep up the great videos, looking forward to watching your epic rides section soon, but saving it to watch on the TV instead of my phone!
Thanks so much for the support and for taking the time not only to watch my reviews but to comment. It's supportive words like yours that make me want to keep doing this work. I look forward to hearing your opinions about the epic rides, and a new one will be released early next year about eastern Sierras. The next review will be of my 2020 Yamaha super 10 array and that has till now the best filming footage, so I look forward to the responses. Regarding your question about soft luggage, there isn't any specific brand that fits this specific motorcycle, but I use my Oxford saddlebags and for sport bikes and they did okay. They tend to scuff up the paint and they can't really fit a lot, plus the way they open make them less useful, but this is the case with every soft luggage system for sport bikes. I know that Givi makes cases and carriers for the VFR but the OEM is always the best option. Happy holidays and thank you again for being part of this channel.

I have no personal experience with that bike honestly, I'm not sure how common they are in the states. But it has less fairing which immediately makes it less desirable as a sport tourer for me anyways. I've been riding the vfr1200 and it's a beast, but it is miss8ng rise modes and cruise Control to be the perfect sport tourer.

I would consider sport tourers if I had the ability to stretch my legs straight while riding (arthritis). But all of them have fairing which doesn't allow for the addition of foot pegs. :( Great typical review, Kemosabe.
That's a good point. I personally prefer the leaned forward ride over the cruiser style lounge hair for my back. But i could see if one has issues with knees or wrists why that would be uncomfortable. Bit yes, all the sport tourers have that more aggressive ride and even the big concourse 1400 does too. You can always adjust the controls but not like you can on a cruiser with forward controls due to the fairing being in the way. The most comfortable bike I've owned so far that you might look into is the Guzzi California 1400. I regret getting rid of it recently.

Thanks for watching. I'm loving my 1200 so far minus the speeding ticket this morning. It's that kind of bike though. The luggage sits at least 8 to 10 inches lower on the 1200 which makes it look sportier. Needless to say the power is much more noticeable.
@@pegasusmotorcycletours So it makes sense to start with a 800, right? I'm in Amsterdam, and the price difference between the two is about €4k with similar mileage. Despite price difference, I'm wondering if the order model will offer a better stepping-stone to a sport cruise bike.
@@bsandrade77 absolutely I'd recommend to go with the 800 first. You wont be disappointed and the 1200 is really almost too much power for every day. I just got a speeding ticket yesterday actually on it - it is not a great daily rider because it likes to be wound up high.
Thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated. Keep up with the good content. I suggest a comparison of 800 vs 1200 for example, because there is none. I've only seen Gen 5 vs Gen 6, so I think you can do great explaining the story and changes.
I appreciate your comment. I made a two part video on lane splitting - turns out it's about 30% safer that riding in line with cars? Believe that? There was. I think most reviews, especially those outside of Europe, don't focus on the luggage because moto-touring kinda sucks. The best touring motorcycle is a Miata, maybe a Corvette if you're a bit fat or an SLK if you're bougie.
I beg to differ. You are describing traveling in a box behind glass. I just hosted an event last Saturday from a client of mine who just returned after 2.5 years of touring latin america on a bike I sold him. If interested check out the presentation under the Live tab on my channel.
@pegasusmotorcycletours That's fair. But the box and glass sure are nice when the temperature drops or it starts raining. The seat and trunk sure are nice after a few days. I love my bike, but 6 hours is about my limit before I start wishing I were in a car and by 3 days I start hating it.
Ive owned a vfr1200F for 5 years. Prior to that i owned a 5th gen vfr800fi for 14 years. The VFR 1200 is in a totally different league for performance than the 800....the 800 does feel underpowered after riding the 1200. Both freat bikes though.
I agree. It's a monster and hard to go back after having so much power. I've been enjoying.my 1200 but have a few terminal dislikes that is making me wanna sell it. I'll be reviewing it this or next mo th so please stay tuned.

I prefer the simpler, smoother looking previous generation. I know the angular look of this one is more modern, but I've never liked the pointy nose and those headlights. And I have to say the 5 spoke looks great on that white bike. I don't see the appeal of the 7 spoke. It looks crowded and bulky to me.
It is very interesting how tastes can be so different. The gentleman who sold his bike to me also had the previous generation and obviously thought so too since that's the bike he kept. Right now I'm riding the 1200 and I'm utterly enjoying the monster but do miss the VTech

As an older person coming back to motorcycles living in the U.K I have been drooling over this model. It ticks all the boxes for style and ergonomics. I need to save up my pennies for a long time as they seem to be holding the value
Hoping you are a generous benefactor and ship it to me. loved this content and presentation. Genuine and heart felt.
You won't be disappointed. I ride the 1200 now but very much miss my 800 vtech. Was just right.

Had my 2008 VfR800 from new and still love riding it after almost 60,000 miles and 16years
What a bike
Amén to that. I. Presently in Madrid and just saw a white one parked on the street. Here the white has black decals so it's a bit more interesting.
@Mark Laidlaw I have a cbr f4i, should I upgrade to vfr or not? What's your opinion? You have both of them.
Wow, nice updates there!

I changed the oil and jumped on my 2017 vfr last year and toured all summer over 10,000mile around Europe… never missed a beat.. so reliable it gives you the confidence to go anywhere! Sold it when I got home and realized I made a mistake about a month later but it was too late! Wish I still had it.. bought a 97 750 just for kicks it’s a great bike to but loved the 800…
This would be a perfect bike for that kind of a trip. I'm riding the white 1200 seen in the video. Alot more powerful but I still miss the vtech.

I’m also considering vfr1200. I like the camshaft bikes too, and somehow I accept the different look of 12 hundred, so, what are your points on that one and how you like the power delivery and do they have any weak spots or some common problems ?

In the future reviews and safe riding till then. Nik

Thank you. I'm riding the 1200 now.
1983. VF750F ridden by Freddie Spencer in AMA competition. This was the first departure from inline 4's. That V4 motor is the origin of the entire VFR lineup.
Thanks for that info. The older one are selling for crazy money.
A great real world use review, especially given your depth of experience with a wide range of bikes, thanks!
Thanks for watching. I've also reviewed the 1200. Cheers.
Really happy to hear you found it valuable. Thanks also for clarifying. Very complex braking system indeed. Cheers. Nik

Thank you for taking the time to educate me. I appreciate you.

Thanks for watching. Glad to have you. I've reviewed most of its competitors so please take a look in the playlist. Cheers. Nik.

Fantastic to hear it. I ride the white 1200 seen in this video and actually miss the 800. Stay tuned for that review.

(around 26:00)
since the rotor is located in between the forks, probably less than 2 inches from the center axle, the turning force applied on the front axle would be very small, negligible compared to the handlebar's distance to the center of the fork (your hands), therefore, you'll never really feel the brake-steering effect even if it's a single rotor at the front... like a lot of motorcycles are single front rotor.

I am going to look and most likely buy a 2006 in white with only 8900 original miles for 5k tomorrow morning. Can’t wait ,, this should be my last motorcycle being 56 and retired.
Congratulations. I'm as excited as you are for that. Let me know what you think of the bike.
Really appreciated this review and your channel 🙌

Great to hear you've found your time well invested. Glad to help. Cheers. Nik

Right now I am riding the Big brother 1200 VFR so please stay tuned for that cuz that's a monster of a machine.
How you like your 8th gen over all. I love my f4i but getting an itch you know.
Hope this helps.

this gen and the 8th are just so nice, the 8th gen luggage is absolutely incredible, gna keep mine until it completely falls apart
Agreed. I was very surprised how much lower the luggage sits on the 1200. I parked side by side and all three pieces were at least ten inches lower than on the 800
Maintain it well and it wont fall apart? if you like it so much.

I would recommend you try a Suzuki Brugman 650. I sold my Kawasaki ZX14R and kept the Brugman. Since you had the Concours, you would appreciate the smoothness and massive luggage of the Brugman

I loved my one but the TRiumph 1059ST had just that extra bit of ooomph to make it better. The V4 and triple engines on the best.
Yes I had three sprints and loved them all. Also reviewed here. Thanks for participating in the conversation.
the early VF750 (not VFR) had catastrophic cam chain failures so Honda over engineered the VFR given it gear driven cams to gain back customer confidence in the V Four engines.

Great review and both of them VFRs look great.

Can you do a ride and specs comparison between this and the Honda cbf1000.....or is there just no comparison?

Check out the mineral Boron for arthritis.

Thanks for watching. I'm loving my 1200 so far minus the speeding ticket this morning. It's that kind of bike though. The luggage sits at least 8 to 10 inches lower on the 1200 which makes it look sportier. Needless to say the power is much more noticeable.
@@pegasusmotorcycletours
So it makes sense to start with a 800, right? I'm in Amsterdam, and the price difference between the two is about €4k with similar mileage. Despite price difference, I'm wondering if the order model will offer a better stepping-stone to a sport cruise bike.
@@bsandrade77 absolutely I'd recommend to go with the 800 first. You wont be disappointed and the 1200 is really almost too much power for every day. I just got a speeding ticket yesterday actually on it - it is not a great daily rider because it likes to be wound up high.

Yes, most customers just like the experience, not necessarily the curvy fast roads. It's all about the private narrated unique tour. @@Fee.1
You say VFR750 was Vtec. I believe Vtec was only on 6th Gen (& 8th Gen VFR from 2014). I appreciate you have kindly made this vid for others but felt need to highlight this
Thank You for catching that. You are correct, only the 800cc sixth and eight gen had the VTech. Thanks so much for watching. I'm in the process of reviewing my 1200 so I hope you proof read me against once it's live. Happy holidays. Nik
@@pegasusmotorcycletours Thsnks for reply...No probs at all😅.
I am a big fan of the VFR1200F...I genuinely nearly bought a 2012 (NON DCT) very recently. Great to ride.. the weight pushing it around my only concern, ( I have a large abdominal Hernia OP pending). Ride Safe 👍🏍
@@AW8UK I was able to delete that mistake in post editing here on the youtube ap, so I am really grateful you pointing it out. I would absolutely hate to provide wrong info. I also added a link in th edescription to a handy site listing all the changes. Great having you here, safe riding and looking forward to hearing from you in the future videos. Nik

The whole point of VTEC is an abrupt increase in power. People acting like it was ever anything like a turbocharger hitting were insane imo.
True true.

@@pegasusmotorcycletours looking forward to it, thanks for the heads up
I think most reviews, especially those outside of Europe, don't focus on the luggage because moto-touring kinda sucks.

So you own this bike still? Does it feel down on power or torque rather compared to modern bikes?
Bike was sold - however the guy just listed it for sale on case you are interested.

4:11 is it LED bulb?
No. Just a standard blue h7 that the bike takes.
I have a black one. Never getting rid of it. Peace.
Owners tend to love and keep em for as long as they run. Thanks for watching.

Super výklad ❤❤❤🤔💪💪🥂
Thank you for watching. I have also reviewed the white 1200 seen in this video which I ride now
Hell of history lessons
I'll take that as a complement. Thanks
Na ur a kl guy tho ,
But have u ever got it up to 130 mph and if so what does it feel like ?
Tank range on the 1200 is really poor. Makes you think what the point its.
If only Honda had a v4 1000 with Vtec that we could plop into this chassis for a RC30 imitation
That would be very interesting.

Fantastic bike, i own a 2009 and very happy with it.
I saw that you have some space between the plate and the handlbar, or did you put a ring in between?
Great review😊
What plate exactly? The triple tree? You can get handlebar risers to basically lift the handlebars a bit to make the bike more comfortable.

You have a extra bedroom or guest house i can rent out for a few month? God I’d kill to ride those roads daily for a stretch
Where are you from / currently located?
@@pegasusmotorcycletours I’m out here in New Orleans. I spent the last decade taking care of my mom…so I stopped college to start helping her out after her Parkinson’s diagnosis, I also had my own diagnosis to battle…and before I knew it I was her caretaker 24/7 365 & the only human capable of doing it basically. I lost her recently though and very much blame myself. I share all that just to explain why such a seemingly crazy comment would be made. Finding yourself in your 30’s starting from square one and no idea where you’re headed is a odd and uneasy feeling…I haven’t had the luxury of spending 5 minutes thinking about myself in a decade. Now I have too much time. Rough transition.
@@pegasusmotorcycletours ANYWAY, hope to plan some fun adventures in the next 6-12 months and most will be at least partially riding related ideally so just at the planning stage still

In the course of time the 5th gen will be the looker.
There is no variable timing in the VFR VTEC. People may not have understood your explanation there.
VTEC stands for Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control
@@pegasusmotorcycletours I know what it stands for, and it definitely applies fro Honda cars. But there is NO "variable timing", as you correctly mentioned there is a oil activated lift mechanism that simply engages the extra two valves per cylinder. I just wanted to clarify for your viewers, that there is no timing variation. They should have called it VATEC...Valve Actuation Technology. It's all good, I wasn't trying to be argumentative.
What was this one sold for $$$ ?
I would normally disclose the price but the buyer just listed ot on Facebook marketplace in San Diego so you can see the details there. It has 50k Miles

@@pegasusmotorcycletours what did the buyer sell it for? I forgot to go look 😂
I will stick with my Gen 5, No HISS and no cam chain.
I have the European anniversary model.
Thanks for watching. I agree that the level of unnecessarily complex tech is getting absurd. No Hiss in North America though. Is that the two tone version?

Bike is nice but luggage rack makes it look over the top in a bad way
All three cases of the 1200 VFR luggage sits at least ten inches lower which makes it look much sportier.
