Makayla i'm so sorry. One tip I like to use is just knowing that things will get better, and that nothing lasts forever. If you ever feel stressed, breath slowly and focus on your breathing. I hope this helps❤
I have no tips but the only thing I can truly say is. That you guys are stronger than you think. Being here proves it. Don’t ever let someone or something ever bring you down because it’s not worth your time and you can do something so much better. ❤ keep being amazing and have a great day!! ^^
So I’ve struggled with mental health for years, so hopefully I can give good tips. 1. You don’t have to do everything at once, if there’s one particular thing that’s stressing you out, break it into smaller steps and work it out slowly. 2. If you don’t already and you have the opportunity to, find a therapist! 2a. If you have a therapist that is not what you wanted, or they’re not helping you, SAY SO. And then find a new therapist. Don’t be afraid to not see a therapist anymore, they should want the best for you and won’t be mad. 3. Take 👏 breaks 👏 I do marching band, which is about 5-6 months a year and can be very stressful. I don’t have a chance to make many breaks, and if you’re like this, then finding even one day a week to take a break is helpful. You always need at least a day, or even a few hours to just care for yourself That’s all for now, but I’ll prolly edit when I think through some more! You’ve got this, if no one you know seems to love you, just know random strangers on the internet do! 💜
@@MakaylaLysiakhey!! How's it going?? I actually went through something similar earlier this year with my fashion career, so I totally get it how awful it feels to leave a career path you've dedicated for over a decade. But is not bad to step away, at least momentarily. It's going to be ok, you'll find your way and perhaps you'll go back to acting stronger than ever! 🤗🤗🤗
I’m so sorry that’s how you feel. But why did you feel the need to say that, I mean was it helping her situation or making the world a better place? How is saying my beliefs aren’t true going benefit anyone?
@MrfairchapI promise you God does have a plan he has a plan for everyone he created this whole universe and God loves you so very much! But then it is your choice to listen to that plan or not 😃✝️💗
I do have to ask. Did you find it difficult to operate in Hollywood as a Christian? I have heard good and bad experiences. I would appreciate your insight.
Thank you so much for sharing this. I’ve recently had to drop my acting, I knew that it was mentally draining despite my love for it, I felt my love decline for it. I Can relate to so many things you’ve said, all the way from auditions being a burden to trying to fit it in your tight schedule trying to remember lines at last minute. I was 18, had a 9-5 job and was soon to be on my way to college in becoming a full time student. I knew that it would become just too stressful. Especially knowing that no matter the auditions I did during this moment in my life, no matter how well I tried upon my era of stress, I knew I wouldn’t be chosen. So it was like fitting a burden in schedule knowing that you’ll get nothing out of it but more burden. I’ve always wanted to be an actress since I was young, and had just gotten into an agency when I was 17. Unfortunately I had to end it. I knew my mental health would deteriorate. I also gave the email to my agency about my situation, and they decided to drop me. Never in a million years would I have ever thought I’d end my acting career so soon, but I knew for now it would be the best option. I can’t explain how stress free I am, I feel so much at peace and in life. It wasn’t acting itself, but rather the price I had to pay for it during this moment of time during my life. I’m keeping you in my prayers, thank you for sharing because it shows that I’m not alone, connecting with someone on this same topic truly helps me to. I’m glad God has brought me to your video today, God bless you Makayla ❤️
@@AnomalyBelleza Exactly! I hate hearing people complain about celebrities or good actors in movies just assuming they are perfect and never have to pay bills or worry about food. Everyone does, you don’t get noticed immediately 😂🧡
Not enough people talk about how emotionally straining college is. I still wake up in panic that I’ve forgotten an assignment or test. Acting itself is also emotionally and physically straining. It’s ok to admit that your passion can be draining and still be a passion. ❤
Bro I feel like college nearly killed me lol. And what ate at me most was that I was struggling yet almost everyone else seemed to be having a breeze (I was studying computer science). I just got done recently, not yet graduated, but I totally would not recommend. Unless you're studying your passion I guess.
From one actor to another, you are only speaking what a lot of us are scared to say! Thank you for sharing your vulnerability. We’ll always be in your corner!
“Gods plan is always better than our plan” ❤ Life is a cycle Makayla, it comes with both good and bad, there’s no way you can let us down. We appreciate you for always being honest and vulnerable with us so that we know what to expect.
Even though I’m not acting, I can still relate. I was so scared of failing and everyone being better than me that I became the person that I didn’t want to become. Someone in my class was super good at acting, so I wanted to be good at acting too even though I didn’t like acting. I was worried of being a failure and I didn’t want to become a doctor but I chose the path to be a doctor just so I wasn’t a “failure.” Love your videos, they inspire me to follow my passions and dreams, thank you Makayla. (LAVA LAMP!) Edit: Thank you so much for 40 likes, you are all too kind!
I wish more actors and actresses who have big roles would speak out about their raw experiences like this. They always make it look so fun and easy. Thanks for sharing your story!
Makayla, don't feel like this is the end of your successes and opportunities. Throw your hands up in the air when I say GOD HAS YOUR BACK!! He will not let you down, I can still see your face that acting is has a place in your heart and don't you worry, those big roles that you longed for, will call out your name at the right time. Being educated is really important so take all the time you need to finish up your studies! Keep believing girl! You got this! Sending love
You’re vulnerability is powerful. So many people are with you and resonate with your story. Getting help is the best thing you could’ve done for yourself. Congratulations on beginning to take care of yourself.
As a former actress I get it. I was like you but with theatre and independent film projects in nyc and Chicago. I started at 19 (not a child actor) and stopped at 28 when I became a wife and mother. I dropped out of college to purse this....I honestly couldn't imagine going while being a working actor. Now I have a 13 year old who is younger and more talented than I ever was and theater is her life! I'm going to show her some of your vids because she needs to hear and see this from an older peer who looks like her and not just her mom. You are beautiful, talented and brave to share this. It's appreciated so thank you. New subbie.
Makayla, you are such a big inspiration to me as a christian, actress, and an overall magnetic person. It’s people like you who make the film industry a brighter place and i just wanted to say how proud we are of you. Whether you choose to continue this career or not, we all still love and support you. Take care of yourself babes
you have a beautiful career ahead of you, Makayla! making school a priority is an incredibly brave and wise decision. especially being at an amazing school like USC... and I honestly hope you make some more screenwriting content ;)
My brother is 20 years older and also a working actor. I always tell him he should do what you're doing, mentoring people... You're ABSOLUTELY qualified regardless if you ever book anything again. You have knowledge only a working actor would have. It's really tough if you don't hyphenate your job description. Actor- Writer - Producer- etc... What you're doing with your RUclips channel is making something for yourself without asking anyone to hire you. You are your own boss. Werk! ❤
I always felt behind in life and thought i was too late for a lot of things because I dropped out of college, missed out on a bunch of opportunities due to my mental health and never did anything i actually wanted to do but pleased so many other people that didn't care for me that it made me not want to exist anymore. Im 26 now, I'm in therapy, I'm medicated, I have job security and have so many good friends and people around me. I've made so many mistakes and gotten into a lot of debt, however what I'm doing now and how I'm managing my time, my life, and my mental health is so much better than when i was listening to adults who just told me what I SHOULD do vs what I want to do. I appreciate your videos so much because it doesn't feel impossible anymore to accomplish a dream. Thank you so much for these videos and I'm so happy to have found
Personally I think you've got it in you to be a top level PRODUCER. You've been in the business long enough - you already have the skill-set, drive, contacts, and vision. You understand how the business works and you have a passion for storytelling and you understand the evolving nature of media (just my 25 cents - inflation) Good luck!
@@MakaylaLysiak You got this - how many producers have you worked with and said to yourself "Hey, I can do that even better!" Much luck on your journey!
@@MakaylaLysiakI would love for you to help me Makayla, I am working on a series and I haven't had the best luck finding producers, my plan is to stream my series on Netflix, please help 😢

This industry is a brutal beast. It can and will seduce you and abandoned in the same breath. You are not alone in your experience and feelings. You have achieved so much already and you have plenty more to achieve. I look forward to seeing you at the rendezvous of victory!
I’m so proud of you!!!! I’m almost in my 40s and I set up an appointment to talk to a therapist over PTSD that was recently triggered. Thanks for your video. 💜🙏🏽😊
I have so much negative charge when it comes to auditioning right now. It makes me feel bad because I feel like I SHOULD WANT TO audition and should be grateful for the opportunity. Taking a break is scary, but it feels like what I need right now. Thank you for sharing your truth, it’s so relatable.
@@PromiseMcclainActress well I’m more of a theatre kid and kinda stuck in Theater but thank you very much you’re so sweet 🥰💗. And so cool you’re an aspiring actress 😍🥰💗
Hey girly, I really want to remind you as someone who is 23 and is also on this journey, just because because you are not getting booked or even getting callbacks, it doesn’t mean anything. If you are talented and they WANT YOU that’s gonna be the ticket. A lot of it is really just luck and timing There is someone that is always going to be the first pick before others because that is what the team is looking for. It’s not just about being talented at this point. I want your audience to know that as well.
Yes!!! What is meant for us is meant for us!!! The audition that went to someone else was meant to go to them, it was never ours in the first place- relieves pressure for sure!
Broadway is overlooked by many actresses and it demands different skills like throwing the voice ,not relying on camera tricks ,stage presence , dont give up . Just take a break from satanic and cliquey Hollywood .
@@holy9781 hmm? I never said she was not successful. I said that she should not be too hard on herself for not booking right now. She’s in a great position compared to a lot of actors.

As someone who has been on the fence about pursuing an acting career for years, I completely support and understand why you’ve decided to take a break. I pray this is a fruitful and refreshing time for you ❤
Baby, never apologize for crying. What you feel is valid, and what you are going through and pushed yourself through is nearly just an impossible experience. Breathe, and I know it’s hard and i see how much you are going through, but know that what you want to do, is what are you able to do. You are loved, physically and mentally and you are allowed to be vulnerable. We hold you up. Never feel fear baby, we’re here. Forever my love.
So proud of you girl! I understand how hard it is to be rejected over and over again and it affects me too. You should be so proud on how far you’ve come and the path you’re heading on. ❤
I’m a medical student and struggle a lot as well with producing good grades and papers etc. I’m new to your channel but thank you for putting into words what I’ve been feeling trying to achieve my dreams. Nothing is worth your mental and physical health. You don’t owe anyone anything, so Take ALL the time you need; 🧡
The entire industry is less and less appealing to me than it was when I first started auditioning just because of how hard it is to keep yourself from wrapping your self worth into what others think of you and your work. You ABSOLUTELY have had a successful career thus far, and what you have done is such a huge accomplishment. People outside of this entire process don't have an understanding of how much work goes into each and every audition.... and the let downs that come along with it. The way I see it is... You are going to move forward and be the ONE who CREATES these incredible opportunities for actors like yourself. You've got an unlimited amount of potential and I really believe in you! Sending you hugs, Makayla!
@@Im.A.Potatoe Lolol no you don’t. Sure many people DO in their low self esteem and desperation for fame. Sure, you CAN certainly compromise yourself, morals and values and sell yourself short in the process but you DON’T HAVE to. You simply have to be good and in the mix of opportunities that are uniquely for you.
You got this girl! I’m 31 and stepping back from my acting career because I have other goals and things to fulfill. I’ll be back when I’m ready which may be never and may be next year but it’s in my terms not my wallets terms or my ego. Self care is wealth care!
As a fellow actress that has been in LA since 2014, getting an MFA in Acting for film, then recently getting a MFA in Screenwriting, all while trying to "Break in" this business in the way that I deem successful, I FEEL THIS VIDEO SO MUCH! Thank you for your vulnerability! Seeing you reminisce on this moment in your life shows how determined and ambitious you are! I know it's a challenge but don't be so hard on yourself. ♥ You are doing great things! You're just a little burnt out. Continue to take time to just live, refocus on self care and then come back a million times stronger. I just took a year off after getting the degree and I'm JUST NOW feeling inspired enough to get back to it. But HUNNY I feel more excited to create than I did when I took my first theatre class.. Moral of the story. We got this! You're a multi-hyphenate BOSS and I'm proud of you♥
I want to audition for my MFA in acting for next year admission in September 2024. I almost went to URTA last year but life changed quickly. If I get in for next fall I’ll be 31 at the time of admission. Is it worth it to invest in a professional acting degree? I feel like I’d only want to accept it if I got into a school in Southern California or Atlanta
@@aalove4 Hey I am a South African and I've been acting since I was 5 next year will mark 20 years since my first time stepping on a stage, I won a provincial/State Arts competition in 2019 and we were heading to the Nationals but unfortunate circumstances stopped us and in other tournaments before and since our achievement we lost and I have been accepted to her school's or MFA SA version AFDA as well as at Wits, TUT, UP, DUT, Oakfields College, City Varsity, Stellenbosch University, UFS and Rhodes but either money or my parents got in the way of me registering that year But I love Acting and I feel like I will make it that's why I'm entering my colleges drama competition one more time next year and apply for drama at colleges that year as now nothing stands in my way as I want to do movies by the end of this decade both locally and abroad
Listening to you telling about all those struggles and challenges you went through this past year has almost made me cry myself😢. I’m really not the right person to reassure anyone, but I just wanted to say that you inspire me and that I truly admire your charisma and perseverance. TAKING A BREAK?! 😳You are not alone 🫶🏽I am going through the very exact same thing right now, as we speak, and I can tell you it was the greatest decision I have ever made to give myself peace of mind, and I am slowly getting back into the love of directing and creating videos, but on my terms, and on my time and everything just feels very clear and stress-free. Please take my word for it. You are making the greatest decision of your life and your future self will be happy with what you are doing.

I felt this not long ago as well, I was doing auditions and getting into acting but I had to step away from it bc I knew I wasn’t going to be able to do it while focusing on college. I truly understand and respect your decisions!! Wishing you the best !!!❤
I just wanted to say how grateful I am that you made this video. I am a sophomore in high school and struggle with the same things you do. I make myself sick over assignments and projects because they have to be perfect and if there’s a single aspect of them that is less than perfect then I consider myself a failure. And that strikes a fear of failure in my life, which also leads to procrastination. Seeing you take a step back and consider your well-being first has taught me that your mental health is way more important than being “perfect”. I aspire to do so many things after high school (acting, singing, dancing, etc.), but I also know that this industry can be extremely overwhelming at times. I hope you know that you sharing your story is helping others, including myself, in so many ways. You are not alone in your struggles. We may not all be challenged in the same ways, but we all face roadblocks and hardships, and we can all find a way past them. God is not done using you, this is only the beginning of your journey. I’m so proud of you and look forward to watching you grow. God bless. ❤️

Hi Makayla, I am an actor myself and I have had successes but, most importantly, I understand the disappointment that you and many other actors go through. I want to thank you for all of the encouragement that you have given me to carry on and all of the insight you have also given to my parents about the industry. I wish more actors would do what you do; not just post about their successes but about the rejection and heartbreak they go through as well because this industry isn't easy. Hi Makayla! I’m so proud of you on taking these steps toward your mental wellness! Thank you for making it public for many people who need to hear this and providing the information on how you deal with anxiety. Continue to be well on your journey.😊
I just so understand this. The first thing that helped me was to take a break. I told my teachers about it, that my homework may take a little longer. And with my acting, I took everything slower. I did everything one step at a time. 😘 you’ve got this.

You always need at least a day, or even a few hours to just care for yourself
That’s all for now, but I’ll prolly edit when I think through some more!
You’ve got this, if no one you know seems to love you, just know random strangers on the internet do! 💜
I think whats very important is to focus on things again, that do you well 💗. Do things you like and take time for yourself.❤️

But is not bad to step away, at least momentarily. It's going to be ok, you'll find your way and perhaps you'll go back to acting stronger than ever! 🤗🤗🤗
"Gods plan is always better than your plan" AMEN sister. Everything you went through is part of a bigger picture ! Stay strong sister

But then it is your choice to listen to that plan or not 😃✝️💗
@Mrfairchap well youve chosen to believe that but youre wrong there is a God with the greatest plan for your life
I do have to ask. Did you find it difficult to operate in Hollywood as a Christian? I have heard good and bad experiences. I would appreciate your insight.
Guys I’m literally crying rn reading these comments… 🥺
We love you x
You got this girl🎉
We love and you are so bold ❤
We Love you
Thank you so much for sharing this.
I’ve always dreamed of being an actress and I’m so grateful you are kind enough to share the down sides of acting.
❤
Definitely a lot of people view it as perfect and everything comes easy when in reality it’s very difficult
@@Lucia4_ VERY DIFFICULT
Me too, and I finished college 5 years ago.
college was a like a walk in park after school that was more like marine training program. i hate both still.
Omg truth and it’s really hard at times to build relationships here
Same, i used to cry so much with 3 children. I did it tho!
makayla, thank you for being so vulnerable. We support you.

AMEN!✝️👑😇🙏💜
Even though I’m not acting, I can still relate. I was so scared of failing and everyone being better than me that I became the person that I didn’t want to become. Someone in my class was super good at acting, so I wanted to be good at acting too even though I didn’t like acting. I was worried of being a failure and I didn’t want to become a doctor but I chose the path to be a doctor just so I wasn’t a “failure.” Love your videos, they inspire me to follow my passions and dreams, thank you Makayla. (LAVA LAMP!)
Edit: Thank you so much for 40 likes, you are all too kind!
I wish more actors and actresses who have big roles would speak out about their raw experiences like this. They always make it look so fun and easy. Thanks for sharing your story!
You can definitely take a break and still mentor on RUclips ! You have hella credibility! Don’t stress yourself girl, just do what you can!
This‼️‼️‼️
Yes also I would love to see Tabitha Brown connect with her! I think she would be a great mentor for her.
Thank you for being so kind. This means the world.
I am in my 50s, and I am blown away by how much Makayla has accomplished. I remember taking 18 credits one semester and that incredible workload.
New subbie.
Do you think starting as a child actor is better to pursue this career?

Thank you so much Brooke🩷
My brother is 20 years older and also a working actor. I always tell him he should do what you're doing, mentoring people... You're ABSOLUTELY qualified regardless if you ever book anything again. You have knowledge only a working actor would have. It's really tough if you don't hyphenate your job description. Actor- Writer - Producer- etc... What you're doing with your RUclips channel is making something for yourself without asking anyone to hire you. You are your own boss. Werk! ❤
Thank you so much for writing this❤️
Excellent comment! I love what you said about the benefit of working for yourself. It’s true!
Shes literally giving up,at 23 to say she hasn't made it yet is kinda delusional
@@holy9781 hmm? I never said she was not successful. I said that she should not be too hard on herself for not booking right now. She’s in a great position compared to a lot of actors.

So proud of you girl! I understand how hard it is to be rejected over and over again and it affects me too. You should be so proud on how far you’ve come and the path you’re heading on. ❤
You should write a screenplay about this experience. Write a movie showing this whole experience. That would be amazing to see in cinemas

You have to sell your soul to be big
@@Im.A.Potatoe Lolol no you don’t.
Sure many people DO in their low self esteem and desperation for fame. Sure, you CAN certainly compromise yourself, morals and values and sell yourself short in the process but you DON’T HAVE to.
You simply have to be good and in the mix of opportunities that are uniquely for you.
Well done for speaking about something so personal. I want to become an actor as well and your teaching me a lot

You are one of the few with so much acting experience to give us advice and i am so greatful for everything you do, I appreciate you and thank you, no matter how your acting career is going, your opinion matters, no need to book a thousand roles. I follow you to hear your opinion, no matter where you are professionally, you give us more than any other actors out there! Even if you stopped i would still want to hear your opinion, and you still would be worthy to give it
Wow thank you so much for this. I feel loved by your kind words. Thank you for supporting my content ❤
lava lamp, and hey, stay strong makayla, you'll get through it, you're such an insporation to us all !!!!💕💕
This is the first video of yours I’ve watched. You’re so well spoken and intelligent. From what I can tell you’re an honest person not to mention beautiful. Having that level self awareness at your age is commendable. You identified the problem and took the necessary steps to correct it. Take as much time as you need. Life is a marathon sometimes you need to slow down and adjust your pace. You’re going to continue to do great things. Wish you the best 💜 subscribing ✅

You're young and talented. I'm 43 and just trying to start getting into the industry and you've accomplished to much at a young age. You have a very bright future.

Thank you for sharing. As a counselor,it's hard but good to see you put your self first. It's an amazing lesson to learn you are only responsible for yourself. You deserve to enjoy college and do whatever you want in life. ❤
Girl you're allowed to take a break and still mentor people on RUclips! You don't know how many people you've helped. You've literally been on Grey's Anatomy, you're definitely qualified.
Grey's don't hire off of qualifications it's a long series they just need people for different faces and scenarios
@@Im.A.Potatoewhy do u keep commenting in this video
@@notkarennn97 the same reason you are, because we can
Take a deep breath and remember that you are amazing, your feelings are valid, and you have so much experience. Just because you aren't acting at the moment doesn't mean you don't have great things to say and show. Thank you for taking care of yourself and making the hard decision to take a step back from something you have loved so much in the past. Everyone understands and has your back, I promise.❤
