Donut Media without James feels like McDonald's without the Big Mac. I wish him success in his next endeavor, and I hope he can bring loads of fun and joy to whatever project he will work on next!

@@REXae86 Yes. But it seems to be some sort of symbol in the US. Not the case where I live. We have McDonald's, Burger King from the US and Hesburger, don't know where this is from and don't care either. Point is, they all try to out-suck eachother. Dry and terrible-looking garbage and a taste to match the looks. It's ok when wasted.
Why not make a video touring the offices to put a face on the people working in the shadows (accounting, merch, marketing, booking, receptionist,,,) and see what they do?
It would probably help with the "Corporate Stigma" that you are suffering from. I am sure that there isn't more than 3 "Corporate people" in the office and all the rest of the staff are just trying to make a living while doing the best job that they can do.
Honestly, I think a "meet the donut team" video would be great to ease some of people's tesions in this transition phase for donut.
I'm so glad people like you exist who are still willing to give these guys a chance. I understand why people are sad seeing their favorite hosts go, but hating on these new guys is not going to help anything. Plus, everyone on this channel used to just be a bunch of new guys to us before we learned who they are and what they were like, so it's unfair that so many people are unwilling to accept this change. I definitely think you have a great idea to remove the stigma that has surrounded donut over these last few weeks.

Good Mythical Morning is a perfect example. It started as 2 dudes and an editor, and now is a HUGE company but on a regular basis you see and meet a ton of the staff behind the scenes. To the point that fans also know them as part of the show. Not that the situation is nearly the same, GMM has had the same owners forever, but still. This is honestly a good idea
Places like this with a corporate overlord have a lot of turnover, so they generally don’t like to introduce a bunch of stuff that will be gone in 6 months and just lead to more questions potentially putting off others from applying.
My company tried putting up posters along the hallway of employees with a statement of why they chose to work here to reduce turnover; it backfired when a year later no one in the posters remained with the company, and people were googling where they went and following them. The company took down all the posters and never tried that again.
James imo was the face of Donut.. Nolan is awesome too, but i think Donut is going the same direction as Hoonigan after Ken passed. Sucks to see.
End of a great era. It feels weird watching Donut without James, but I'm open to the new stuff.
It makes me sad that we're losing three of donut's host, But I'm excited to see what you guy have planned! Also I love all of the host and I love that Jimmy and Max have beed in more content lately.

ALL the hosts should walk away from that mis-managed dumpster fire. Can't believe Donut has come to this. You can hear the pain in Nolan's voice.

Been watching Donut Media pretty much from the beginning of the channel and it’s obviously sad to see James, Zach, and Jeremiah leave as permanent hosts. However, I wish the best for everyone and I hope y’all don’t let the past ignorance and negativity get to the people working hard to make content at Donut!
will miss James on donut, but what I'll miss more is James chopping it up with Nolan, Joe, Justin and others on the podcast. Can't wait to see what he has planned for the future!

It's not the hosts that we are worried about. It's the way the company handles stuff like this. Saying they didn't want to spoil his project, which hadn't even come out yet when this was uploaded, is just corporate BS.
Donut media is not the dudes you see on screen. At this point it's a venture-capital owned business, so it's no longer a group of passionate car enthusiasts devoted to producing the best media they can, it's become an asset in a portfolio that's supposed to generate "shareholder value". The new version of Donut will be geared towards generating as many views as possible with as little money put into production as possible. See: everything that has been made that doesn't have James, Jobe, or Jerry in it. There will never be another Hi-Low season 1, there will never be another Money Pit.
And don't worry about dudes like Nolan and Justin will be just fine if Donut folds. They've grown so much as presenters, the work that they're doing for Donut at this time is frankly below them and they'd be better off elsewhere.
This is like right on the fence of being click bait. James was barely mentioned, and the explanation of not wanting to spoil his project just looks bad now that we know James was contractually prohibited from making the announcement. Donut overlords: we aren't stupid, just be honest. Honesty goes a long way.

Im still going to watch and enjoy donuts content as well as bigtimes and james new stuff. The ranger build has been a blast to watch.
I see all this unwarranted hate going towards Donut for no valid reason. I know that big companies buying companies like donut brings alot of unwanted changes, but give them a chance. Ppl say the rudest things over the internet just because a host left. Thats a stupid reason to switch up on something you were just praising for almost a decade. If anything, its a blessing in disguise. Now you have 2 new automotive channels to enjoy while still enjoying this channel. This new generation is super unappreciative.

I see this as only a positive, more channels and more content to watch. I love all the hosts who are still at donut, and i literally wouldnt be able to sleep at night if i couldnt listen to past gas and the big three 🙏

it sucks that james is leaving, but people should understand james isn’t the entirety of donut. just like with jeremiah and zach, james is off to do a project that he obviously loves and has put a lot of time into. Donut is obviously still doing well without his presence and will continue to. at the end of the day, we benefit since now we’re going to get videos from donut, big time, and we get to see what james is working on

@@Where2bub he was hired very early on, but it was started by matt levin and a couple other guys. i will say james has a video up on his new channel going over the whole time that he was at donut
I mean yea, he isn't the entirety but he absolutely is what made Donut what it is. He's the soul of Donut and it's the end of the program as we knew it.
It's like Top Gear when Jeremy, Richard and James left. Sure the show was still there but who the fuck wanted to watch it.
@@shannonsteven3982 there was still an audience for top gear after the original 3 left in 2015, and the show continued on for another 8 years. sure it wasn’t the same, but it had its own substance and plenty of people still watched it. donut is in a similar spot, they’ve lost three hosts, but the show goes on. the current donut team can still put out good content, albeit it IS much different from what made donut grow. the program has been constantly changing on donut for years, and james’ departure isn’t going to have a major impact on the route the channel has been taking for years at this point. at least now we have donut, big time, and speeed to look forward to. at the end of the day we’re getting more content
@@_ADubl I’d say it’s more the reasoning behind why the key members of the channel are leaving that’s going to lead to its decline. They’re doing rubbish content, that’s entirely just designed for click bait headlines. They’re the buzz feed of car RUclips’s now.

Y'know what? Sure, Donut has lost some of its OG talent, but it really seems like the drama is only on the audience's end. I see four dudes who show up for work, have some laughs and riff it up (part of the work), and carry on. The show must go on, and Donut appears to be in good hands.

As much as I'll miss seeing James, Jobe and Jerry around donut, I'm still excited to see how donut grows into the future. There's a lot of great talent there with lots of passion and creativity. Keep on going boys, we love you, keep making fun content and dont pay to close of attention to the more inflammatory comments, some people just really dont like change ❤
Some of the best podcast content I’ve ever heard is any podcast where James empathy starts to get him emotional… That dude is a not just a legend, but a hardcore good human being. The mainstream internet needs more James!
This is fucked, you guys spoiled his announcement knowing he was gonna be dropping the next day after this dropped. Then you guys did an ama the same day he dropped. I know the people in the video aren't responsible for these decisions I saw autotea's video, but upper management at this company is fucked man seriously
I just cant wrap my head around james having his own channel, unless if its something like donut that he is the owner of i cant see him doing much else, hes a funny actor/ presenter, i dont see him getting down and dirty with cars pr doing anything super stressfull do to his heart.

I think this is being faced more head on than the Hoonigan departures were, those were all secret until (presumably an NDA concluded and allowed) the individual to inform everyone. I think if the guys that stay continue to bring the energy that Donut will hopefully not suffer the way Hoonigan did after everyone (rightfully) took off. And I’m excited to see what James is doing and for BigTime to be successful separately.

same here -- people can call me any names under the sun for following all of them and never drop one, but I feel bond to the team, and those who left I still love them, I just gonna add more subscribing, it doesn't add up my HDD anyway so why not and I got to see more stuff, it's win-win for audience.

Donut should build a 200sx s12. Those were so cool and never got the attention they deserved. just add a bunch of z31, s13, and s14 parts and it's amazing.
I think your most important part of your high/low drag racing is getting your cars super consistent and reliable. There's a guy here on RUclips named 50tussin that has probably over 10 302 powered t5 cars and all but 2 are foxbody chassis. He'll change 1 part and drive to the track and test it, and when you get as consistent as he is, you're looking for hundredths of a second. He has Playlist of all his different cars on his channel so you can see their progress over time.

You guys have always been a channel that’s felt like a bunch of friends getting together to make cool fun cars. I understand having some corporate suits to help fund your videos but please just try and keep that vibe of working on cars with the boys. Love you guys! Keep up the good work. The fact they released this 1 day (July 31) Before james video dropped (Aug 1) Then on the same day james dropped his Why i left donut they do a reddit AMA! Talk about a dirt bag move! DONUT IS DEAD!! Its ran by non car enthusiasts and money hungry suits. Im gonna unfollow and will never watch this channel videos again!
I dig that you guys are planning to do more cool stuff. WOuld love to see you guys out at more track events! Either in your cars or other cars, or maybe just scouting out various folks builds!

So y'all made us wait a month to confirm the exact thing we were assuming? Thats foul AF. This just confirms that Donut is dead bc this took so long bc it had to go thru the corporate structure. Nolan is the only OG left and seems to be going the corporate shill direction... if you're really one of the boys, you'd jump in with the other guys, but instead, they have him lying and doing damage control for Donut. How embarrassing. He doesn't realize that the company is just gonna use him and either throw him away later or he's just gonna burn up with it. Maybe Jerr and Jobe will let him write for them after Donut goes under.
Im literally embarrassed for Nolan. I went thru a similar situation last year and thought I was too loyal and experienced to be screwed like that, along with having the most experience and seniority, I also trained literally everyone including the owner who was never apart of the industry before, was the 1st employee hired to the company. Got a random text giving no explanation that I wasn't needed anymore. Its embarrassing being that loyal and being screwed by the corporate big brother, 5 years dog along with 8 years experience before that, customers that ask for me by name and employees I consider family. Should've known when two of the guys that were with the company before it was bought got let go the year before me (kinda like Jerr, Jobe and James). Nolan will find out.

I feel like there's a lot of hate for donut recently but I think that the future looks bright. Apart from the obvious promotional videos about the Nio ES8 and the Temu/cheap product videos it really seems like there's a lot of creative and entertaining ideas in the works. So sad to see James go but so exciting to see that the brand is persevering and trending in the right direction.

So Donut sees how successful Big Time become within Days that they are going to bring back “working on cars”. I’m going to still feel the disconnect since I don’t have an infinite budget and all these friends and people helping me out. Big Time gets it.
