There's a lot to love about Sam's videos. My favorite thing, which puts him above most, if not all, video game music cover artists on youtube, is the way his arrangements bring out and highlight what makes the original piece so good to begin with. Anyone with basic skill on an instrument can play melodies from video games. Sam digs out the shiny heart of the piece, polishes it, makes it shine brighter. You can tell he puts a lot of work and love into these songs. It's easy to miss the genius of the musicians and composers of video game soundtracks. Sam does them a great honor by playing their music as seriously, skillfully, and beautifully, as one would Bach or Mozart. This is high art, despite what that goofy, smug face at the end of the video would suggest. He's taking the dub and he's earned it.
