  • The Fabulous Wailers were one of the first regional premier rock bands. Their live recording at Seatle’s Castle, now barely listenable, was pivotal for many of the early bands in the Pacific Northwest to try and emulate. Rudimentary instrumentals and vocal covers songs sung by the outstanding Gail Harris or Rockin’ Robin Roberts were visceral and energetic. Later they would drop the ‘Fabulous’ from the name as well as many of their personnel. Guitarist Richard Dangel was a style to behold. Keyboardist Kent Morrill took over vocals by the time of Out Of Our Tree, released: Oct 1965. You can hear their inspiration coming from Satisfaction and other muscly rock songs of the period. Sadly, virtually all of this group’s recordings sound pretty awful today and are badly in need of remixing and remastering. Much like almost all of the early music from the Pacific Northwest where recording was incredibly deficient, it's hard to imagine what these bands sounded like on stage in front of you. I tried my best to prop up this cool song, isolating tracks, cutting verses, some of the words of which are not even understandable. You be the judge.
