Yeah. Taika Waititi is really a great comedian and director, but it should have been him and someone who has alot more experience writing blockbuster epics rather than just normal movies.
@@RralRonaldo he is right, this movie could’ve been really good but taika tried to hard to make it a comedy and it just didn’t work like he wanted it to.
The thing I dislike the most about this movie is that Gorr was literally right in the end. Thor is the only god that actually does anything to help. Every single other god was exactly the same as the first god that betrayed Gorr. And yet the movie still paints him as a villain who was wrong because of the actions of one single god? Thor himself experienced the same thing Gorr went through in the beginning, having faith that the gods would aid him and being betrayed by them in his time of need. Really wish the movie had acknowledged this in some way.
@@BoogSReviews He helped save the world from Ammit and her deciples in Moon Knight, and he explicitly goes after evil people and those who've done harm to innocents. Yeah, he's a prick but in comparison to his own patheon (with exception to Taweret) who are all content to just be idle observers and especially compared to most of the gods in Love and Thunder...yeah, I'd say he's pretty damn helpful.
That's a problem that's really annoyed me with action movies as of late. The villain actually winds up slightly agreeable, if not just completely in the right, but does something morally objectionable to make sure the audience doesn't actually side with him in the end
@@simplebeauty120 I was thinking the same thing, Zeus is a bit of an all powerful tyrant in Greek mythology so can imagine other gods secretly hoping for his demise/the top spot to free up without having to expose their own disloyalty
The idea that Gorr would even consider leaving his daughter to Thor after Thor literally just sent an army of kids to, realistically, their deaths fighting Gorr is so insanely unbelievable. That decision literally reinforced everything negative Gorr thought about Gods and they don’t even mention it. Absurd
I think the kids being gifted Zeus' power made them, in a sense, "temporarily immortal", seeing how Zeus was shot through the chest and survived. Kind of dumb since Thor has no way of knowing this, and ya it was a very silly scene. What really convinced Gorr of Thor's compassion was the scene with Jane anyway.
To be fair they didn't exactly have any way of escaping the shadow beasts he had summoned, so that was ironically the only way Thor could protect the kids in that regard. Also important to note that the sword had been destroyed directly prior to them meeting Eternity, so the curse's murderous bias against the gods it casted in his head was already effectively gone by the time Jane died
I laughed a little too ngl 💀 obviously not because of cancer as a serious illness but because of how random and dumb it was as a plot device in a Thor movie 💀💀💀
the goats automatically lost points with me the minute they got introduced because its literally the definition of a writer that thought "what are the kids into these days" like when they made the hulk dab
For me i was kind of irritated with how Thor was handled. The last time we saw him he was a broken man still suffering from Thanos PTSD and instead of him working to become whole again and heal throughout the movie all of his trauma is healed in the opening narration and hes back to ragnarok thor cracking jokes and stuff. He was not ok in endgame but love and thunder just basically says "oh hes all better now" without any actual attempts to show how.
Yeah they tried to recreate Thor Ragnorok, but he just went through a bunch of trauma so he shouldnt be so happy-go-lucky as he was at the beginning of Ragnorok. Characters need consistency and causes for change.
Thor was finally in a good place in life again. Thanos was gone for good, he’s fit again, and was adventuring with the guardians. He also has a new purpose with raising love which I think is really interesting. He went from cocky prince who wouldn’t listen to his dad to an adoptive dad himself. I think his whole experience has humbled him and made him understand why Odin did what he did.
Only Mjolnir has the stipulation that you have to be “worthy” to wield it. Storm breaker is just really heavy, but pretty much anyone strong enough can lift if if they want. Hope this clears some things up.
Thor has endured tragedy in his life. He fought Thanos alongside Capt America and Iron Man, he also lost his family (father, mother and Loki), yet this movie treated him like a joke. This makes me sad.
Yeah that one hurts, I wait for beautiful dramatic scenes but it's just jokes, I love scenes of Gorr and his daughter, the love he has for his daughter ngl made me tear up
I definitely didn’t *hate* the movie, I just wish there were more scenes with Gorr. For someone called the “God Butcher” you don’t really see him butchering gods. For example, in the movie we see a giant ice god dead, and apparently Gorr killed him off screen, I really wanted to see how Gorr killed him it seemed epic.
They did film it to my understanding but the movie ended up being like 4 hours and so they cut a lot because marvel didn't want it to be over 2 or 3 hours and that led to Taika being mad (I mean, rightfully so, no way home and Dr strange were longer than hid film) and so he cut a lot as like a middle finger to marvel
There's been mentions that there were some "bordering on R18" level scenes of Gorr cut from the movie, and I have to wonder if those scenes were him actually earning the epithet "god butcher"
@@thejaded not only it would solidify gorr nickname, it will also give scene between gorr and thor a lot more tension because we know what gorr is capable of
I really liked Filamento's review on the film, as he pointed out a lot of inconsistencies with the villian and also provides alterations that would make his motives more consistent.
Right, and I don't think it's fair for that one to be tossed in with the rest seeing that the 'Anatomy of a Failure' title has been given to good films in the past, and vice versa.
True but Elvis was just pointing out the hate bandwagon when it comes to films and youtubians content creators. They use catchy negative titles, talk a lot of shit to get views which can turn into money.Filmento doesnt do a deep dive into the negativity like other creators so I like his stuff a lot. I dont mind a good bashing for crappy movies but it gets boring after awhile if it has no substance.
@@RayValdezPhotography doesnt mean they're wrong, having a different opinion is good, but having the wrong opinion about a fact is beyond stupid, and the fact is this movie sucks fucking ass
This is one of the reasons I like your reviews. Not everything has to be an unmitigated disaster or an underrated masterpiece to you. It's such a strange notion online; just having some fun watching a movie, then going about with your life.
In terms of the MCU, Love and Thunder *is* an unmitigated disaster though. It’s pretty easily the worst MCU movie (and I say that as someone who only likes maybe 4 of these things) and one of the worst movies of the year. There isn’t a single laugh in the movie, lots of Taikaing (yuck) all over the place. Any serious elements are swept completely under the rug in favor for bad jokes. Bale is giving it his all, but you can only do so much with this nothing role.
@@toninomatalone7323 No, Mjolnir couldn't be lifted by unworthy beings because Odin spoke an unbrakable vow into it at the beginning of the first Thor movie. That vow was never made on Stormbraker, and since Stormbreaker isn't sentient (only the handle since its groots arm) it doesn't have any limitations on who can actually wield it.
One thing I wanted to mention is that New Asgard isn't a theme park, it's a city for the surviving Asgardians. It just gets a lot of tourism which helps Val build it's economy.
@@_Tokenwhtguy It's just a Norwegian fishing town that came to house the refugee Asgardians after the snap, Thor was living there when Hulk and Rocket picked him up. The beginning is just Valkyrie opening tourist attractions
The most disappointing thing about this movie is how poor they write Jane as a character. The comic offers such a good story and Jane's' death hits so hard. But the director just boiled it down to silly comedy which is really upsetting.
After her saying call me "Doctor Jane Foster" I don't think any story after that would have made people tear up lol, she got offended by "Lady Thor" whilst Thor is being made up all the time lol
@@pagatryx5451 actually after the 1st film Chris was given more freedom (because of the success) and yes he did wanted Thor to be more comedic hence the shit show after 2nd Thor and other marvel films with Thor. Did u ever watch the BTS or bonus shit on the 2nd bluray? Chris is a drama queen since his days on home and away and will always be a drama queen/action star but for the love of gorr he needs to lay off comedic roles imo he's shit at comedy
new asgard isn't a theme park, it's quite literally the new asgard. their people had to flee to somewhere after thanos, so they chose where thor last saw odin. we see this place in the previous Thor film as well as in endgame. it's just been a while and to help support her people, the new king decided to open it up to tourists and tour guides.
Taika can make impactful and emotional moments land exceptionally well (Hunt for the Wilderpeople and Jojo Rabbit), but those moments are always given time to breathe and be absorbed. I felt most of the moments that fell flat did so because there wasn’t enough time to appreciate the scene before being rushed back into the action-comedy adventure stuff.
I felt quite strongly the emotion from the ending. I don't really understand which specific part of the movie do people mean by not enough time to linger at emotional scene.
Honestly I'm glad you included that section in the opening segment about holding onto opinions and how the mass influx of a singular popular opinion can even go as far as to gaslight people into changing their opinion. Because even tough I personally didn't enjoy love and Thunder aside from Gorr and that one battle where it's all black and white, I do appreciate it since some people do need to get reminded that different opinions exist and you don't need to feel bad for having a different one just because the need to fit in with someone else, or that just because someone has a different opinion, that doesn't make them wrong or bad compared to you.
Honestly, yes! Reminds me of a little something that happened at school. Back then one of my teachers picked a movie for us to choose from since my class already finished the movie, Finding Nemo. One of the kids in my classroom picked another Pixar movie that wasn't very great, and neither looks good with its ratings. I wasn't very sure since I thought that I would have hated it. Especially after what I've heard. Though, after watching it I change my opinion. Sure, I've spotted some parts of the movie that not many people would have liked, but honestly, I was obsessed with it. I started to learn a little bit about separating opinions that each included my own. And honestly, It felt refreshing. Now, this doesn't imply everything but honestly, I think it would be better for people to begin seeing things for themselves other than relying on a popular opinion! Just thought it would be nice to share this
This is very nitpicky, but the only problem I had with that section is that he showed CinemaWins instead of CinemaSins. The latter is definitely a channel that fits in this statement better.
Why am I the only one who apparently didn't like the black and white battle? Like it literally just looks like a crappy black and white filter was put over the phone at times you can see the red in his cape when you weren't supposed to 😭. It felt like lazy editing to me.
My biggest hope is that they do some sort of director's cut since so much was apparently cut out from the movie. Throw in some more gorr screentime, maybe even some scenes of Jane faltering in battle with thor noticing something is off, but brushing it aside being in denial that something could be plaguing her, and just more room for genuine moments instead of a constant joke fest. It just felt that it was trying too hard to capture the spirit of ragnarok again but that kind of mood just really doesn't fit some of the subject matter in the movie. I can only imagine that it was Disney execs pushing for full on comedy like this and forcing the changes, but at the same time in every interview it seems that taika just really didn't care about making the movie. Which is honestly completely fine as I feel like constantly churning out mcu style movies really blows for these directors.
I think the problem with the movie was the director... Taika, as you said, obviously didn't care and I didn't get the sense that we were missing much. It was just...crap?
@@TheGlamchic99 "Doesn't believe in directors cuts"? Thats... bizarre. As much as I love guns n roses, the fact the child decided he wanted to be called Axl after "a cool band he's been listening to" did make me audibly groan in the theater. However other than that I enjoyed the movie. My dad couldn't stop laughing at the screaming goats and it didn't help when I showed him their inspiration, it was very wholesome actually
Thor as a character is an amazing character that gives you chills. In the comics that is read one strip just one, in the mcu he's just a joke a clown used to make you laugh from his dead friends and dead family nothing is safe from tikas wrath

One thing I don't see anyone else mentioning about this movie and that it bothers me to no end, is how bad the child actors are. Gorr's daughter comes back to life, sees her father die in front of her and her face is just 😐 Tony Stark's daughter had the same problem, her father just died, and she just looks bored at his funeral.
Probably feels a little weird to have have come back to life with some of eternity's power. Still, anything would've been better than the nothing she brought.
Everyone reacts different to death. As far as kids, even in real life who knows what they are processing. They might not get hit hard with death like an adult. It just depends. I always find it a weird criticism to tell people how they should handle grief. That was some of the logic behind people that harassed victims of mass shootings for not crying enough or can be used to say someone is the murder suspect for not having tears if a love one is murdered.
@@RayValdezPhotographyAt least I can tell what's going on with someone's lack of reaction after a trauma, as you can see the life drained from them. Eyes speaks volumes, too. Some kids are planks of wood, or not allowed to act!
@RayValdezPhotography what you're saying makes sense for the real world, but zero sense for a movie. At the end of the day, movies are meant to entertain us. Her showing no emotion wasn't entertaining, it was awkward and slightly cringe
Honestly, none of the other gods trying to help Zeus sounds pretty accurate. Especially with the lesser gods, lots of them have reasons to hate Zeus. The guy started as a kind of savior, but he progressively just became the sucky king no one liked.
@@user-tx4jg7yl7h What are you talking about? Thor borrowed "the power of thor" to every child during the final battle. That is something Thor can do because he's Odin's son. He can enchant their "weapons" the same way his Father enchanted mjolnir and he's done this quite a few times in the comics. None of that had anything to do with Zeus' thunderbolt, it's simply the weapon he was holding at the time and therefore became the conduit. He could've done the same thing with stormbreaker, just as Odin did with mjolnir.
I think this film would have worked better as a prequel set a thousand years before the first film and featured Odin and Hela. It could have explained the gods no longer being on earth since Gorr killed them all, and having Hela betray Odin to work with Gorr would explain how she’s able to use the necrosword ability and being sealed away Untill Ragnorak.
@@Judasinchains call me stupid, but I'm not ready to walk away just yet, as long as there future projects that could potentially turn it around from this rut, I'm sticking through it
Honestly Russell Crowe was the highlight of the movie for me. I didn't think he did an amazing job but he looked like he was actually having fun which is something I don't think I got from the rest of the cast.
Thank you for confirming that the problem with loading Disney + is because of Disney. My partner swears it’s our internet, despite never having a problem on other apps. An argument has been settled.
fun little fact that not too many people know: The god Gorr kills (Rapu) is played by Jonny Brugh, who also co-starred in Taika's other great movie "What We Do In The Shadows" (2014) as the character Deacon Brücke, and Jonny still does live shows as Deacon.
I’m just gonna come out here and say it, I believe Christian Bale has the best villain performance in the MCU, highly underrated, and since he was in the dark knight, I wouldn’t be surprise if he took some inspiration from Heath Ledger’s joker.
He was pretty good, yeah... But Thanos (pre "young version" in Endgame) was hands down the best villain in the MCU. Hell, he's probably one of the best villains in cinematic history.
Loki was better than Thanos, and Loki wasn't anywhere near the best ever, so calm down. Marvel just made everything leading up to Thanos all stupidly epic and shit, it was designed to make you think he was a lot better than he actually was.
I liked Thor love and thunder as a romantic comedy with Thor and Jane my biggest problem is that they used gorr the god butcher as a villain and didn't use him to his full potential like the Jason Aaron thor comics did
Perfect Just watched it and I will respectfully disagree, I thought this was awful in every way. I love you Elvis and will always be a fan even if we disagree good sir
1:48 But when’s the last time HotDiggityDemon actually did a movie review? He makes incredibly entertaining and thoughtful introspective videos about himself and then titles them as though they’ll be movie reviews. I love him.
@@kyleforbes6048 I think at this point (hopefully) most people have realized cinemasins is just pure trash and not a genuine way to gauge if a movie is good or not.
A few things you missed: -Zeus didn't die, he's a God and only Gorr's weapon can kill gods -Valkyrie didn't die lmao, she was just incapacitated for the rest of the movie -Thor giving the power to the kids and the Tree of Life thing. The Tree of Life is shown in the movie briefly in the beginning (I believe it was either an image in a book or on the spine of a book?)
Lol Why didn’t Thor give people his power during Endgame or Infinity War? Why didn’t Thanos just get Stormbreaker instead of the stones? It would be way more easier for Thanos to kill half of life. That just add more plot holes to the universe
This is a very refreshing take on this movie and not how every other review is about how it was a dumpster fire and that every little thing is a nip pick
Thank you for reminding me that there are things to like about this movie. I felt roughly the same way as you when I left the theater, but I think I slowly fell victim to the groupthink afterwards. It's a flawed movie, to be sure, but it's definitely not a garbage fire.
The Thor franchise as been trought a lot in the last decade. Im not sure we can claim any 2 movies where alike either. Moving from serious to comical to complete cringe is, sadly, on brand.
to be honest after rewatching thor and... the dark world i realized how the tone for those movies are all over the place (similar to love and thunder) they try to be serious but they put dumb jokes at the same time
Thor-Serious and mythological tone. Thor: The Dark World-Generic and deceptive. Thor: Ragnarok-Comedic and strangely weird heroic. Thor: Love And Thunder-All over the place.
I love the first Thor movie it's flawed but it's the only one that gets the Thor character right in my opinion other than his role in infinity war where his probably the most accurate to the comics in my opinion
Thor 1 was a good and enjoyable movie, Thor TDW tried to be better than the original but was generic and fell flat, Thor ragnorok learnt from TDW's mistakes and improved on some aspects, and Thor L and T tried to be better than Ragnorok but just failed. If Disney follows the pattern, Thor 5 will be a good movie.
Gorr (and his daughter) can hold Stormbreaker because it was never enchanted. Odin put an enchantment on Mjolnir so that only whoever is worthy can hold it, but nothing like that was ever cast on Stormbreaker so anyone can hold it (remember when Groot held it in Infinity War?).
I've seen plenty of terrible films. Thor: Love and Thunder isn't completely terrible, but Elvis summed up my feelings on it pretty succinctly: it's meh. It's enjoyable in parts but overall it's not a fantastic product. I definitely wasn't fond of the dialogue for this film, it felt rushed and out of place for most of the runtime (and the cancer conversation Jane had with Thor was NOT handled well IMO).
The main thing I have the problem with is that they introduced a new hero (at least in terms of Superheros, I know that she appeared earlier in the MCU) only to kill her off at the end.
I agree with all your points I just have one thing to add why did this movie act like the sword cursed Gorr to die like that's a bad thing? If he didn't have the sword he would've died anyway and wouldn't of gotten revenge and brought his daughter back. Sounds like a blessing to me. In the comics it's implied that the gods didn't abandon Gorr they were just too busy fighting the previous sword wielder to help him
theres probably a ton of other comments saying this but, Gor is able to carry and use storm breaker because it was never enchanted by odin like mjolnir was, thus anybody could use it., same with Gor's daughter

This movie felt like such a waste of time for me, the worst part was definitely how cool gorr was for small moments, he was the only character i was interested in watching the movie
Shadows cannot exist without light.... 😬 Also, Crowe is doing an Australian-Greek fruiterer/stereotypical accent. It's spot on lol a lot of comedians here do the same thing. I ignored reviews and went in with my kids to the cinema, excited after Ragnarok. Unfortunately, even my 5 year old was bored and thought it sucked. He loved Ragnarok and watches it all the time. It's telling how bad it was. I really wish it didn't suck. I'm not shitting on you Elvis, I like your stuff :)

I saw someone's review that compared why Thor Ragnarok worked while this one didn't and I think they explained the problems with this movie well enough. Also why Thor felt weird in this one
what was the channel? kinda interested to watch the review because i liked ragnarok but was underwhelmed by love and thunder, even though i went in with no expectations.
@@herdiansyah9982 yeah, the video i'm talking mentioned another reason that i kinda agree with. He said it's also cause of what happened between Ragnarok and L&t. After Ragnarok, we've seen thor in infinity war and endgame where he was actually serious. Yes, he made jokes but it wasn't the type of jokes that made him look like an idiot
I finally got my thoughts on Morbius... It was everything we were afraid the first Venom movie was going to be. Turns out it was significantly better, but Morbius was exactly what we had feared. Which raises the question since Venom came out first how's it possible that Morbius was screwed up so badly? Fox/Disney could have hired the same screenwriters, directors, etc? Side note I'm getting tired of the comparison between Gorr and Voldemort. Voldemort has a nose (slits) the same way a snake has a nose. In fact that's the whole point he's a Slytherin snake wizard kind of guy. Gorr on the other hand just had a slight bump on his face and tentacles coming out of the back of his head which is significantly different.
Sif gets told that she can't enter Valhalla if she died after the fight had ended, so how did Jane get into Valhalla when she died after the battle had ended. Like that got me and I couldn't stop thinking about it after watching that movie
15:43 / 17:40 they deduced much earlier in the film that Gorr was going to Eternity and it was established multiples times that Eternity is at the centre of the universe. 17:53 Stormbreaker doesn't have the "if he be worthy" quote imbued on it by Odin like Mjolnir, anyone can hold it.
7:46 technically in the marvel universe Norman Osborn did create the cure for cancer, but for use as a weapon to kill deadpool by removing the cancer which keeps his healing factor in check.
I really respect you for putting out your opinion out on this platform, even if I disagree and really despise love and thunder. Im glad we can have a discussion
I really enjoyed this movie, but my wife and I did see why it would upset, frustrate or annoy people. I like the way the movies lean into the absurdity of a God being a superhero and characterising Thor as being kind of a dumbass who can't read the room worked for me. I feel like it could for sure have taken it's themes more seriously however, it was definitely lacking in that department.
I'm really happy you tackled this movie and for your opening section about opinions, I personally enjoyed this movie a lot even with its flaws, but nowadays people can't handle that others have different opinions and will crucify you for thinking something they hate is even remotely enjoyable, heck besides CinemaWins pretty much I haven't seen a single positive said about this movie so it's good to find some different perspectives!
I mean he doesn't have to talk about every single thing about every movie and he still pointed out a lot of things that he found bad about the movie while bringing up what he enjoyed so what's the problem? we've heard people talk about the negatives since the movie came out so why not talk about different points? it's all his opinion anyways and if you think it's trash then cool but he just has a different opinion
By that logic, Catwoman is also a perfectly fine movie if you ignore all the flaws. And his opinions thing is innately wrong cuz the ppl saying it's bad are also putting out their own opinions. Turns out majority of the ppl had a bad opinion of it as it has major flaws and so it's widely regarded a bad movie, which it is.
Well, that's only because you are evil and every time you post, god kills a puppy. otherwise people totally tolerate your opinion that is WRONG. YER WRONG. How could you enjoy this you MONSTER? It is people like you who sacked Rome and brought about a thousand years of darkness! How dare you have an opinion that does not perfectly match with mine? I'd tweet about you, except that your friend Elon must took over and is promoting free speech, just like the tyrant he is! I am literally shaking right now!
I mean The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is objectively a messy movie and yet it still has people that like those movies because of certain aspects, a movie can be widely regarded as terrible but still have its fans because saying something has absolutely no redeeming qualities feels dramatic, just like for Love and Thunder people can enjoy it while still acknowledging its flaws (like this video does), I'm only saying that opinions aren't black and white all the time

Finally!! Someone says it! It is not a great movie, but it is NOT terrible either, I enjoyed myself watching it, at the very least, I can say I had fun, unlike a certain other recent MCU project...
I loved the ending, that Jane ended up in Valhalla despite not dying IN battle, because her battle with cancer was enough. That was really sweet! And the scene with Eternity was amazing, and I liked Gorr! His powers were epic! But I didn’t like too much else 🙁
I saw the thumbnails for both of The Critical Drinker’s reviews for this movie and decided to go watch them after watching this video and idk man, he made a lot of really good points about this movie.
I was waiting for your review and as always, I wholeheartedly agree. I watched this movie when it came out and while yeah, some things weren't great, I enjoyed it. Then every single person started shitting on it and saying it was the worst movie ever. I was kind of confused and even started doubting myself.
@lordvageta sayain I mean its a movie…it’s supposed to be enjoyed. If you criticise everything intensely like you’re getting paid to do it then that’s kind of on you
Stormbrealer and Mjölnir have different properties, stormbreaker wasn’t cursed with the “only 1 shall be worthy” curse so it can be wielded by anyone, unlike Mjölnir who has to have a worthy wielder.
Ok I know I already made a comment, but about the cancer thing. In the second Thor movie, Jane mentioned that the Asgardian technology/magic could cure cancer (I think) and they just smile at her… I thought they were supposed to protect the nine realms? Including Earth (Midgard) Why did they just brush it off?? People are dying painfully and they just ignore the fact that they could help prevent it?? Not a single Asgardian thought to try and help? And they make fun of “mortals”. Also of course Stark could make a cure, but I think he believes in “there’s no money in a cure” I don’t care what anyone says otherwise.
17:55 So unlike Mjlonir, Stormbreaker doesn't have the same enchantment as the hammer so really anyone can pick it up - which is why Thanos and Love can use it
I saw this well before all the reviews you listed came out, and was extremely underwhelmed. It was confused on what it wanted to be and just wasn’t strong. At least I’ll watch Ragnarok over and over and be beyond happy. This was just unfortunate

It's too obvious for them to not have been aware of, which leads me to believe it was a cut scene, surely.
Well there's also Khonshu from Moon Knight, who insists on helping humanity with Marc as his avatar.
@@gaminggalaxies6633 Khonshu is kind of a vengeful god so idk if I’d say he’s that helpful.
The fact that none of the other god went to help Zeus when he got shot actually makes ✨perfect✨ sense.
Also love the DB reference.
@@simplebeauty120 I was thinking the same thing, Zeus is a bit of an all powerful tyrant in Greek mythology so can imagine other gods secretly hoping for his demise/the top spot to free up without having to expose their own disloyalty

more like the budget weren't allowed
it makes sense they didnt help him, it didnt make sense he got killed so easily
The idea that Gorr would even consider leaving his daughter to Thor after Thor literally just sent an army of kids to, realistically, their deaths fighting Gorr is so insanely unbelievable. That decision literally reinforced everything negative Gorr thought about Gods and they don’t even mention it. Absurd
well children empowered by the Thor Force plus it's shown his daughter is powerful herself now
LOL.. You are right. The endless cicle
@@ElvistheAlien the movie is shit

Edgelord. Gross.
The screaming goats dropped my score for the movie by a point for every scream after the first time.
It's funny the first time, but Taika's dadjoke brain took over and told him to put that in AGAIN AND AGAIN
the goats automatically lost points with me the minute they got introduced because its literally the definition of a writer that thought "what are the kids into these days" like when they made the hulk dab
It reminded me of the Llama from the Guardians of The Galaxy game
Fcking goats super annoying.
I thought the goats were funny:(
For me i was kind of irritated with how Thor was handled. The last time we saw him he was a broken man still suffering from Thanos PTSD and instead of him working to become whole again and heal throughout the movie all of his trauma is healed in the opening narration and hes back to ragnarok thor cracking jokes and stuff. He was not ok in endgame but love and thunder just basically says "oh hes all better now" without any actual attempts to show how.
like how he had survivor's guilt and was in a dark place when we last saw him even after redeeming himself
Yea it feels like he was straight up character assassinated
Yeah they tried to recreate Thor Ragnorok, but he just went through a bunch of trauma so he shouldnt be so happy-go-lucky as he was at the beginning of Ragnorok.
Characters need consistency and causes for change.
The writers said he’s not fat anymore so he’s good
Thor was finally in a good place in life again.
At the end, Christian Bale's performance was heartbreaking. He really did throw everything at the role.
Yeah
Even he was pretty bland or bad.

What? The movie did not treat him like a fucking joke dude. What are you even talking about?

Right, and I don't think it's fair for that one to be tossed in with the rest seeing that the 'Anatomy of a Failure' title has been given to good films in the past, and vice versa.

Apparently the 4 hour cut of this movie is supposed to be Monty Python esque. Dying to see that version if we ever get access to it
Honestly I'm glad you included that section in the opening segment about holding onto opinions and how the mass influx of a singular popular opinion can even go as far as to gaslight people into changing their opinion.
Just thought it would be nice to share this
Opinions like asshole. Why so many

Why am I the only one who apparently didn't like the black and white battle? Like it literally just looks like a crappy black and white filter was put over the phone at times you can see the red in his cape when you weren't supposed to 😭. It felt like lazy editing to me.
Nah, movie sucked big nuts.
The director said he doesn’t believe in directors cuts. So this likely will not happen
I have no interest in seeing the "Taika cut"

One thing I don't see anyone else mentioning about this movie and that it bothers me to no end, is how bad the child actors are. Gorr's daughter comes back to life, sees her father die in front of her and her face is just 😐
Tony Stark's daughter had the same problem, her father just died, and she just looks bored at his funeral.

Everyone reacts different to death. As far as kids, even in real life who knows what they are processing. They might not get hit hard with death like an adult. It just depends. When Axel first appeared, I leaned over to my friend in the theater and whispered these four words:
"200 million dollar movie."
It's a shame Thor didn't think to "borrow the Power of Thor" to anybody else at any time in the last few years. Could've come in handy. Hm.
As explained in the movie it is a power exclusive to Zeus's weapon, resembled also by the use of yellow lighting instead of the usual light blue one.
@@user-tx4jg7yl7h when was it explained? The kids getting powers came out of nowhere, that was never said
@@user-tx4jg7yl7h What are you talking about?

Exactly!
Sif gets told that she can't enter Valhalla if she died after the fight had ended, so how did Jane get into Valhalla when she died after the battle had ended. Like that got me and I couldn't stop thinking about it after watching that movie
I think it's because she died in a battle with cancer.
Or maybe Thor just lied to Sif because he didn't want her to die.
@judeconnor-macintyre9874 that'd make sense
Too bad he ignored all of the objective complaints, which is most of the complaints that people have for the trash movie.
I mean The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is objectively a messy movie and yet it still has people that like those movies because of certain aspects, a movie can be widely regarded as terrible but still have its fans because saying something has absolutely no redeeming qualities feels dramatic, just like for Love and Thunder people can enjoy it while still acknowledging its flaws (like this video does), I'm only saying that opinions aren't black and white all the time
Oh my god the door knocking during the ad absolutely freaked me out… I was outside in the dark trying to unlock my door and all of a sudden: Knock Knock Knock
valkyrie distracting thor when trying to comfort a demon gullet-full of children , made you laugh? the grenade bit, made you laugh? each to their own but …idk what did you do to your brain to make you like this stuff, im jealous
I loved when gorr killed the god in the beginning and said it's Gorrin' time.

The editing on the Disney+ tirade has been better than the editing on any of the phase 4 movies
Finally!!
Someone says it! It is not a great movie, but it is NOT terrible either, I enjoyed myself watching it, at the very least, I can say I had fun, unlike a certain other recent MCU project...
It's trash.
5:00 jesus christ i was alone and on my open back headphones not paying attention; that knock knock sound effect scared the shit out of me
The before the “fix” had me burst out in laughing
I loved the ending, that Jane ended up in Valhalla despite not dying IN battle, because her battle with cancer was enough. That was really sweet! And the scene with Eternity was amazing, and I liked Gorr! His powers were epic! But I didn’t like too much else 🙁
I saw the thumbnails for both of The Critical Drinker’s reviews for this movie and decided to go watch them after watching this video and idk man, he made a lot of really good points about this movie.
Nobody should trust a drunk man's opinion
@@chaserseven2886 ironically the only way the movie can be seen as anything other than atrocious is through consuming copious amounts of liquor

yeah no
Isn’t that the guy who blames everything on wokeness?
@@m_ridae no
I was waiting for your review and as always, I wholeheartedly agree. I watched this movie when it came out and while yeah, some things weren't great, I enjoyed it. Then every single person started shitting on it and saying it was the worst movie ever. I was kind of confused and even started doubting myself.
@lordvageta sayain
that still meansn enjoyable to be fair
It's like with the Bay Transformers movies. They're pretty goofy but I still enjoy them lol
@lordvageta sayain other words
"Don't ask questions, just consume products" aka accept mediocrity cuz you'll like it anyway....
Thank you for this!
I had the same reaction, I thought its a lot worse because of the initial reaction but after watching, its perfectly FINE!
christan bale did a great job at carrying this movie, if only they didn't waste his scenes
I work at a theater so we had a showing just for employees and the only person who laughed at the jokes was the dishwasher who was wasted.
Dishwasher? At a theater?
17:55 So unlike Mjlonir, Stormbreaker doesn't have the same enchantment as the hammer so really anyone can pick it up - which is why Thanos and Love can use it
It’s the only movie I have seen in years where I wanted to buy another ticket and rewatch
I wish there was more compromise with the heavy themes. The potential was there, but I agree, it's an "OK" movie. I had a good time.
I saw this well before all the reviews you listed came out, and was extremely underwhelmed. It was confused on what it wanted to be and just wasn’t strong. At least I’ll watch Ragnarok over and over and be beyond happy. This was just unfortunate
