Huge thanks to Island Music Company (islandmusicco.com) for bringing me out to NAMM to meet such awesome people like Jake. Make sure to watch till the end of this video for a seriously funky ukulele breakdown by Jake! Keep shreddin'! -T
1 HOW do we get ukulele class in ALL elementary schools?? It's PERFECT! 2 I think THIS cat is the best uke virtuoso on the planet: ruclips.net/video/S_vxQOH051U/видео.html
This was great, thanks, I've been looking for "is it easy to teach yourself ukulele?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Fenaylern Nonpareil Formula - (just google it ) ? It is an awesome one off product for discovering how to play the ukulele like a pro without the normal expense. Ive heard some decent things about it and my mate got great results with it.
It's actually true that the world would be a better place if everyone played music. It's somehow humbling to go through the process of truly learning an instrument imo
1000 π Thats a really good point, but I think a broader way to say that is just being musical. Some people learn instruments like they are learning their times tables, learning shapes and passages without feeling. I think if you have a real connection with what you are playing, even if it is someone else's music, thats what its all about.
It might depend on who's asking. If some giant biker dude asks me, I'll probably start ripping some classic rock or shreddy stuff, if a little girl asks me, I'll probably strum some happy chords, if a dog asks me, I'll probably drop my guitar and run away because that's a talking dog.
Usually if you play some epic solos people are gonna be like:"Eh,I can do that too",or:"That's easy" but if you play a shitty justin bieber song everybody will congratulate you
Oh god.. this is the same guy i watched all these years ago play While my guitar gently weeps on ukulele and completely blew me away! What a musician and what a human being!
Uke is really an amazingly happy sounding instrument. Even if you play average, it sounds extraordinary on that "sweet" instrument. The "cuteness" of the tone makes every odd note sound melodic!
I had the opportunity to meet and play a little with Jake back in 2002? in Hawaii. One of the nicest guys I've ever met. He's done for the ukelele what Bela Fleck has done for the banjo. His amazing talent is only overshadowed by his pure joy for music & life. A true inspiration for all of us. Thanks for posting this. Peace. JR
i first saw jake... it was over 10 years ago. i was downloading clickbait guitar videos off limewire, and there he was. he wasnt steve vai or rusty coolie, but he inspired me greatly, in terms of arrangement and the possibilities of musicallity. beautiful, humble dude. glad to see him killin it
Tyler - what is the point in asking a question like "how do you play music in three words or less?" I've seen you ask other musicians the same and like Jake, they look as if they just want to walk away at such an insignificant question...
Am I the only one who's noticed that so many great guitarist's name start with J? Like Joe Satriani, John Petrucci, John Frusciante, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Joan Jett, Jack White, Jeff Beck, Johnny Ramone, Robert Johnson, James Burton, John McLaughlin... and here Jake, not exactly a guitarist but he's part of the reason I thought of this
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to learn about ukulele lessons online try Pycanta Amazing Ukulele Protocol ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some super things about it and my co-worker got great success with it.

If everyone in the world played Ukulele, it would be a funky cool ass place.

This is the most humble guy I have ever seen on Earth.
Seems like such a down to earth guy!
He sure is! I've had to opportunity to meet him twice and even play with him for a few minutes! Such a humble and amazing guy!
It's actually true that the world would be a better place if everyone played music. It's somehow humbling to go through the process of truly learning an instrument imo
no it wont, cuz music wouldnt be considered as a talent
schreck 4 that's a good point

DaBeachmasta10 exactly this. Anyone can learn how to copy a couple of notes, but it takes feeling to give a song your own colors, that's talent
Not music, Ukulele.
you should do a video on what to play when someone says "you play guitar? play me something."
It might depend on who's asking. If some giant biker dude asks me, I'll probably start ripping some classic rock or shreddy stuff, if a little girl asks me, I'll probably strum some happy chords, if a dog asks me, I'll probably drop my guitar and run away because that's a talking dog.
Weak, if a dog asked me I'd drop my tuning to D flat and start Djogging.
Tyler.. no. just shred.
shredding wins the ladies.
Finn Bowles I usually play The Satanist by Behemoth
Usually if you play some epic solos people are gonna be like:"Eh,I can do that too",or:"That's easy" but if you play a shitty justin bieber song everybody will congratulate you

Scott Miller I feel the same way, so awkward
Now he has fun with his instrument

My ukulele teacher showed me some of his videos and I was inspired by his Bohemian Rhapsody.
i just wish that teaching someone play something is free and you only have to pay to buy a instrument
why is while my guitar gently weeps so popular for covers
Jake: YEAH...
Use your heart would be my answer to the three words or less
I know, practice,patience,persistence
4:03 I think Eric Johnson has achieved the perfect tone.
That moment when the microphone goes a BIT up 😲
Less words, more music.

Jake is the best
What's the song he plays at the end or is he just freestyling?
my honest response to his question in the beginning: Go Buy One!!!!!!!
hearing him say his last name wrong and him knowing who he is is a total fringe
How do you play music or describe music in three words? Have fun dude 😄
Hey Taylor, what kind of mic are u you using in this video?

Typical RUclips interview: too much explanation (just ask the question!); inane questions just to be odd; no follow-up questions.
He’s okay but needs to work on his upstrokes.
