At my local donut place, they have a tip line on the receipt WHEN YOU GO THROUGH THE DAMN DRIVE-THRU. Fuck no.
Vegas has a tip line at the gas station 😂
Similar thing at a Mexican spot near me. They have an iPad for tips at the pickup window 😢
They have a "Tip here" line on parking tickets in Los Angeles
I'd just write LOL
@ELGUAPOIV it's not hard to hit no tip and go about your day
“You never know what theyre going through”
I dont care, I work with customers every single day, and have never treated one poorly because I was having a bad day. I am in control of my emotions.
I agree with the sentiment but to think you've never let your emotions sway your behavior at work is delusional.
I don't know what they're going through and I do not care. It's not my fault, my problem, or my responsibility. Grow up
That idea works great until youre rorced to work konger hours for shit pay, cant take vscation when you want, have to skip breaks to get things done, and get bitchedbat for 1 minite of overtime, and leaving will look bat to future employers. Do that shit for a little bit snd see of youre able to stay so resilient
@@unlisted9494 awww you had to work your job that you willingly signed up for? Awww the poor guy had to actually work his shift life is so tough for you working in a nice temperature controlled room pouring soda's for people for 6 hours a day.
Shut up
@@vorbo01 where the fuck did you get anything about sodas. The job market is shit and getting a new job is difficult, why do you HAVE TO be a complete asshole to every employee you meet?
My local vape shop ruined tips for everyone. Nobody gets tips from me anymore.
I went in, i bought a new mod, a new tank, 4 batteries, a charger, 6 bottles of juice and some new coils.
Mind you, this entire transaction took under 3 minutes. I knew exactly what i wanted and where it was. The employee literally just grabbed 10 things off a shelf.
When i went to pay, it was about $500. The pad had a tip option that defaulted to 25%.
Now, im a tall guy. That means when im at the grocery store, i occasionally get asked by short women to grab things off the top shelf. Sometimes several things. I always do it, and i dont expect a tip or anything. So imagine my surprise when the tablet i was paying on reccomended i give this bozo $125 for doing what i regularly do for free.
No more tips. Especially if you do a job that a vending machine can do better than you. Waiters, barbers and delivery people are the only people ill tip anymore.
That's crazy. They got me fucked up 😂
You spent 500 dollars on vape equipment, I say that's your own doing.
@@CandyMan2001 Yes, and its exactly what you think it is.
Honestly I take a Mr Pink approach to tipping

My cousin was training to be a paramedic. She realized she was making more working as a server at a crappy chain restaurant as a server, than she every would as a paramedic. Tipping is out of control. Servers shouldn't be outearning nurses, teachers, firefighters and tradesmen. That is absolutely insane.
Paramedics have been grossly underpaid for a long time that's not new. Not defending it I'm just saying that it's not tip culture that did it. I've never understood why paramedics don't make more
the problem is the paramedics, etc aren’t paid enough. that should be the focus. not making sure waiters get paid less. let’s all rise up.
@@mikecurry6847we don’t pay anyone who actually does anything important enough, only for fake bullshit where you sit on a computer with a thumb up your ass in a cubicle
Why have tip percentages increased over the years? Percentages are proportional and shouldn't change with inflation or increases in menu prices. I remember when servers were stoked to get 10% and 15% was legendary. Anything above 15% was gratuitous and more than likely from a celebrity.
I tip them with words of encouragement
Best tip. I just pat their back and give them a Verse from jordan Peterson's book
I'm European and we do not tip unless its stellar exceptional service. Which its very rare to find nowadays.
Im ftom South africa, i went to Vancouver on holiday, cut my hair in a fancy salon, the hair dresser handed me the point of sale and had a tip option on it and it started at 25%, i had to tell her no, no tip lady. She looked at me if im the devil.
You gotta figure out cutting your own hair if you’re in America. It’s a racquet meant to collect money from people’s social anxiety. Everybody pays for someone to cut their hair but rarely do you see people with good haircuts.
Yeah Vancouver is bad. They hand you the tip option for nearly any place but 7/11 / cornerstore. It’s gross.
“You know what this is? It’s the world’s smallest violin playing just for the waitress’s”
If I have to get my own refills, I see it as self service. In that case I round up to the next dollar for the tip, because it’s easier to balance my budget with whole dollar amounts. In case of restaurants where an actual service is provided, I do 20% rounded to where it makes the total a whole dollar amount if the service is good. Poor service is 15%, mediocre service is 18%, very good service is 25%.
I'm a service worker. We sell beers and wine. Our manager increased the tip options from 15/18/20 to 18/20/23. I never expect a tip for cracking a $10 beer and handing it to someone but it is nice when someone does. It's pretty embarrassing honestly but never assume that the employee has any control over that stuff.
(Our manager was stealing our tips)
You can sue them if you can prove this
@@brandonharrison60162 No we can't. My province has shitty laws around gratuities. It's completely legal for the manager/owner to take 100% of the tips for the employees and straight up give them zero. I know it sounds insane.
@@MlRAAK bet they don't put that on their taxes. Maybe big brother should find out and investigate
@@brandonharrison60162 Uh well considering that tips are included as a part of your cheque, yes they are taxed the same as a dollar of your fixed wage. The only tips that aren't taxable are cash.
Some places are automatically adding a 20% gratuity on your tab no matter what you order and then they'll still have the fucking nerve to ask for a tip on top of that. You're not getting both from me - absolutely outrageous. It's bad enough we just arbitrarily decided the minimum tip went from 15% to 20%.
Then so many fast food places are increasing their prices. The most basic sandwich at Subway is at least $10 now. You can spend upwards of $12-13 on a regular McDonald's meal, now. Wendy's stock went down recently when they announced they'd implement variant pricing based on demand.
What places are doing that? That's against the law lol
Kyle cracked me up with that minimum is running out 😂
That sketch is from I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson
The never want the tip I offer. Just money.🤷♂️
I love watching Woody raise his eyebrows every 10 seconds.
He confuses his eyebrows with his eyelids
He’s so surprised the world doesn’t revolve around him… every ten seconds.
As a brit this conversation is so bizarre to me
As an Australian, same
I'm not really sure of the history of how it happened or why nor am I defending any of it, but the reason so many people in the US absolutely insist on tipping in restaurants is because the federal minimum wage doesn't apply to tipped employees, they have a different federal minimum wage that's just over $2/hr. Some states have their own minimum wage for tipped employees that bring it closer to the federal minimum wage but not all. When you go to some corner diner in the US and get served coffee, that man or woman serving you might be making $2-3/hr. The justification is that tips are expected to fill the gap. It's kind of like a weird, social subsidy or optional tax. The people who insist on tipping even when the service maybe isn't the best do so because they understand that they might actually be totally reliant on those tips and without them, they nearly worked for free
@@mikecurry6847Do you think Americans in general believe this system to be superior? Genuine question, seems like all of this could be avoided by just paying everyone minimum wage as with every industry
@@jacobmassey183 no I don't think that most of us like this system but unfortunately our congress isn't the best at representing the their constituents sometimes
In every other industry, tipping is for going above and beyond, but when im an already paying customer at a restaurant, its somehow my responsibility to pay the employees wage? Restaurants shouldn't be allowed to pay $3 hr and expect me to cover payroll on top of the bill
As a non American, hearing 20% is insane to me, that’s like another food item
And it's everywhere now drivethroughs, even self-checkout... Anytime you see an ipad/tablet at checkout, expect to be pressured to tip, regardless of what it's for.
I work at a pizza place and my manager will literally start freaking out and thinks she is so obligated for a top and I get a tip on a big order like 60 plus pizzas it’s a small company but for one pizza and talking to a costumer for 1 minutes does not earn you a tip I have turned down so many tips because I don’t believe in tipping people so easily it’s a job you get a pay check 🤷♂️
Tbh having been a cashier in the past, the pay-it-forward thing can get complicated. It's a really beautiful intention and everything but for the staff it isn't always awesome..
Tipping culture is the worst part of the US.
Lets be real the reason people that receive tips defend it so vehemently is because they dont want to be paid what they are worth based on their skillset. There are a huge number of jobs that require you work with customers all day while being on your feet. Those jobs pay about $15-20/hr. But waitstaff probably take home between 25-35/hr depending on where they work (average estimate not every restaurant obviously) so if it were changed to them being paid by their employeer an hourly wage they'd be taking a huge haircut. Thus the reason they defend tipping the way they do. I personally would like waitstaff to be paid an hourly and tips to become a service based thing instead of me subsidizing your paycheck thing.
i work at this escape room place, i am great at my job, i try to stay charismatic and attentive, i never expect tips, but i love it when i get them.
Expecting the employee to risk their job by just handing out free shit is insane
12:50 I'm really happy Woody survived the old cutthroat days of planting umbrellas.. barely made it! lol
Last time I went through the Starbucks drive thru near me (it was a last resort) the girl at the window pulled the card reader out the window and asked me how mucho I'd like to tip. I made eye contact while i hit zero percent, and wish i wasn't in a rush because otherwise i would have had the time to be way meaner
We don't tip in NZ, but if you ever go to the main cities in the nicer areas all the shops have tip options. The workers in the city are often spoiled little brats that get offended when you don't tip lol.
I was given the option to give a tip while buying a bottle of water at the airport from a self checkout kiosk.
Yessir! Love the content
I ate at subway recently and they make the sandwich right in front of me, but somehow the sandwich does not taste fresh, the turkey had a certain musk flavor that was not present any other time. The lady stopped the toaster oven early, before it beeped leaving a warm sub and not toasted. They barely give any toppings, I had to ask for extra extra on every other topping and it still wasnt enough black olives. I noticed how they added a stainless steel screen behind the glass screen that is covering the food so you cant see them make the first part of your sandwich.I regret going to subway dont go to subway ever again even if you kind of want to in the future. I suspect they are holding onto product longer to cut costs and trying to hide the grossness behind the metal screen. eat fresh my ass

As a baggage guy (skycap) at the airport. Plz tip. Esp if you’re with your family. 400lbs of luggage on a cart is a bitch. Kyle’s point about the money shit is hilariously on point too. A lot of us mop up on tips but you hate when the government conferences come to town and half of them are obese using wheelchairs and look at you like you should be paying them.
I never forced you to work at a restaurant…….
I always tip 20% at restaurants but if i pay $6 for a fucking coffee you dont deserve a tip, that and to-go food orders, the whole point of to go is youre not being waited on, 20% shouldn't be expected because your employer doesnt want to pay you a fair wage
I only tip if there is a service provided.
Last night when I ordered five two liters of diet Coke and 5 12 packs along with other assorted groceries from Target I tipped the 125 lb Filipino girl that was loading it into my truck three whole dollars,
She looked like Dobby getting a sock from Harry Potter
I dont usually tip a lot, your boss should pay you a living wage. Im

Sorry I'm not the government I'm not subsudizing you're income because I want a sandwhich. Especially when the company is collecting the tips to payout employee's weeks later. Good service I'll give a small tip. otherwise NO IT'S YOUR JOB. I don't care I've worked crappy jobs too.
Don’t even get me started on how much they “need” the money, because their bad life decisions mean they deserve more money for less work but mine mean I should go homeless from leans on my bank account for a medical bill.

Kyle never worked a service job.
I only tip like a dollar or 2 if the server is actually really good maybe 5 they get paid pretty well 🤷🏻♂️
In america? They get paid 2 dollars an hour from the restaurant. After turning in tips their checks are like 4 bucks. Without tips they are fucked. Most people assume theyre getting paid minimum wage plus tips but thats not the case.
Youd be surprised how many resturants actually steal their tips as well.
Fuck us tippingculture, just pay your Name employes enough and i tipp if i think the service is good.

Neat. I'm not tipping for either.
As a former service employee and current chef never tip. It just incentivizes employers to pay servers less.

I’m not going to feel bad for grown ass adults that never learned to function past taking people’s food orders. Especially not if they do that then also decide to have kids that our taxes are taking keeping alive.
There’s no tipping in Japan or Germany and I had fantastic service in both countries, so Tavarish’s pro-tipping nonsense doesn’t hold up.
You understand the wait staff makes 2 dollars an hour in most places in america right?
@@braxtonvestal777 Tough shit. It’s not on the customer to subsidize dogshit wages.
I think it is just different expectations of what good service is in the US vs Europe. The overly attentive service is the us annoys me but Americans seem to expect it, where as good service in the uk the staff shoukd be nearly unnoticed unless they are bringing you something or see you with empty drinks/plates.
@S0m35uy then dont be a bum ass and go out to eat except for fastfood. Buying from these resturants furthers the wage gap buy what ever so long as you save 5 bucks huh?
