fun fact george washington carver did not invent penut butter and he did not claim that he had. that is something people gave him credit for later on. peanut butter was a pruduct that most farmers knew about for a long time. what he actually did that was helpful was he researched crop rotations and soil depletions and soil cycles, found the best crops to use in rotations to keep feelds good and still be profitable, then he helped educate black farmers on how to do this to help makes sure they did not destroy there fields and go into finiancial ruin.
I'm surprised they are dissing this man after he invented podcasts and was a founding member of PKA

He worked closely with Peanuts and Soybeans for their uses beyond the culinary, and worked to teach new African American farmers about using Peanuts, Soybeans, and other legumes to fix Nitrogen into the soil and replenish the resources available to the crops in the next cycle.
yeah the Tuskegee website is pretty misleading. Like he didnt invent nitrogylcerin, but he discovered you could turn peanut oil in to glycerol and combine it w potassium nitrate and make a peanut based nitroglycerin. He's still a very accomplished person esp for his era.

The usefulness or efficacy of those products is dubious at best. Not sure how adding peanuts to the vinegar creation process is supposed to be relevant to that process in any way, but I suppose peanut vinegar could be a thing...
But the point remains, the list they were looking at doesn't say he "invented" any of those things.

Tooling up a factory to produce ammunition on a mass-scale is extremely expensive and probably takes a decent amount of time to do. It’s not an economically sound investment to tool up just to smooth over a spike in ammo demand, when there’s a decent risk that the demand will fall again.

So, devil's advocate here, I actually went to the website they're viewing, and it doesn't say he "invented" those things, it's saying his experimentation with peanuts and such resulted in the creation of various products made from peanuts.
Now, I'm not sure I've ever heard of peanut gasoline or peanut vinegar, but the site isn't claiming he invented vinegar, it's claiming he found a way to make vinegar using peanuts.
Which ultimately to me just sounds like he was mixing peanuts with random shit and they were like "ah, you out peanuts in vinegar!? Well, that's peanut vinegar, my good man!" ~1920s voiced guy probably.

A lot of that list is taking liberties and it's not explained well. He "invented" the use of a crop for making vinegar. First instance of vinegar was actually attributed to Babylonians around 3000BC made from figs and dates. It is basically him using existing science and applying it to those crops he was studying to make different products in ways that it was not used for before. Like - peanuts (milk, plastics, paints, dyes, cosmetics, medicinal oils, soap, ink, wood stains) and from sweet potatoes (molasses, postage stamp glue, flour, vinegar and synthetic rubber) MAINLY it was like I didn't invent the wheel but I figured out that we can make a type of wheel from this too. He was able to produce a "type" of Gasoline from those crops. He didn't invent gasoline or plastic. Even crop rotation idea was like 6000BC in the middle east.

To be fair, the website says "peanut based inventions" so its not claiming that he invented mayonaise, vinegar, gasoline, paint, etc. Only variations of these that he used peanuts to create. Its probably all still lies but they did specify that his inventions are all peanut related.

When they say "Gasoline" my guess would be that he invented some sort of low energy fuel derived from peanut oil, similar to how some people use vegetable oil to fuel their vehicle. Again, I doubt he actually did this but that's probably what they meant. I don't doubt that he fucked around with peanuts alot, and I don't think many of these "inventions" were productive when compared to alternatives or ever really used.
The reason I was curious is because it is not uncommon for them to make up fantastical claims about Black People. If you've ever heard of the NLB (Negro Baseball League), some of their official stories are just as ridiculous as suggesting GWC invented all these products.
And what does it mean by gas? That's way too vague.
