Was the drummer in the band MIRV at the time. We did some west coast tours with Primus and Fishbone. Never forget the Pork Soda tour. Tim was a helluva gracious fellow. Les was well, Les. Great guy. Met his dad at one of the shows... Just like Les! Good times.

God bless you herb you will be missed regardless of how you did it it doesn't matter man you're happy you're where you want to be in your life and you feel good and that's all that matters. I just know that those guys in Primus respect the fact of what's going on in your life and where you're at and they may not have enjoyed the way you did it so much but it is what it is and I have a feeling it's age family body and mind. And you know this touring thing and older age can be a tough thing on some people and it can really burn you out. it can be a tough lifestyle especially if you have a wife and kids. So I respect it I think it came in a good time in his life to sit back and take stock of your life I don't think he's in a bad place I think he's very happy right now I think this is where he wants to be and you know I think it has a lot to do with family. I didn't see this coming but you never do but it doesn't surprise me I mean he's quit Primus before and the guys in Primus will never be able to replace you, dude!!! In my mind you're the greatest drummer the past 30 years there's not a better drummer that's made his mark on music then you Mr Alexander. I've never heard of drummer play better in the pocket have greater imagination and layer his drumming better than you and in terms of Frizzle fry sailing the Seas of cheese pork soda and tales from the Punchbowl there's not a better four album span of mortgage creative and better drumming than what you did over the past 30 years.except Danny Carey but I put him second and you first..... some of the most original drumming I have ever heard in a 4 records span is unmatched...... your imagination is Limitless and some of the most brilliant drumming I've ever heard came from your mind and without you in my life I would never have become the drummer that I am today and I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for everything you've ever for me as a human being and as a drummer. you're never going to read this and a bunch of strangers will but I don't care I'm just making my feelings known that you will be missed and hopefully you'll pick back up the sticks and become the drummer of Geddy Lee and Alex lifeson experiment. I mean Danny Carey with the King Crimson tribute band well not so much tribute band I mean two of the members from that lineup in the early eighties were there with Tony and Adrian and Mr Steve Vai. I mean why not Danny Play Bill bruford drumming he sounds a lot like Bill in some ways and you can tell that bill is a huge influence on Danny's drumming life. just like Neil Peart was a massive influence on Tim Alexander's chops and drumming Style. go back a few years ago to Primus doing a tribute to rush and Neil Peart may he rest in peace. Primus pulled out the unthinkable an accomplished the whole farewell to Kings album I mean they freaking nailed it it was flawless I've never heard another band do it better other than Rush. They did a first set of all their rocking classic tunes and then they would do a second set that was devoted to rush and I was fortunate enough to see them in New Orleans at the House of Blues and they nailed it and tim was the highlight of the night not to mention he had a drum set that was identical to Neil peart's 1977 slingerland drum set aka Blakula. Also not even 4 years after a Primus blew up in the mainstream they put out their second studio album sailing the Seas of cheese and let's say Rush already had them on the radar and they recognized the amazing musicianship that was in this band especially the Rhythm Section and the boys in Rush asked Primus to go on tour with them for their roll the bones North American tour and I was fortunate enough to see both bands on stage at the UNO Lakefront Arena in 1992 and it was the greatest night of my life I've never seen a better concert. I think Tim Alexander was even using pork pie drum sets and he was one of the first to endorse them..... man he had a massive kit it was every bit as big as Neil's. But Neil knew very quick how powerful and brilliant in what a legacy that Tim Alexander would leave. So yeah if there's any drummer to ever fill in for Geddy and Alex an become part of something truly special. he would be the guy there's no drummer that encompasses Neil's playing better than herb Alexander. I'm just glad I was able to see Tim Alexander on every Primus tour that he's ever been a part of yes even Frizzle fry. Tim Alexander and the Lee/lifeson experiment I mean why not. I certainly don't think he's through as a drummer I think he's going to go into Hiatus for a while I mean he is a real introvert and he's very quiet and reserved kind of guy that's why he lives way out in the middle of nowhere I believe in Washington State. I know he's a massive Seahawks fan because he was seen playing drums at a Seahawks game with the Seahawks fan band and they were doing Jerry Was a Race Car Driver it's on RUclips just look for Alexander and the Seahawks band. And he looked and seemed very happy. I just think he was getting sick of being in Primus and doing the same old grind since he was 24 years old in 1989 and it also had to do with family and I know that music and touring can take you away from your family and put a lot of stress on it as well. And I know he had two heart attacks and also open heart surgery and I don't know if you ever get over something like that I mean he's lucky to even be alive and still with us. he's got to make a living so they were touring all the time. And I don't think anybody knew except Tim that he was going to leave the band Like I said he's very reserved and very laid back an introverted. I think it's perfectly normal that he wanted a break from music and he was at a Crossroads in his life and he was honestly just burn out with what he was doing and he felt like he wasn't in the game so to speak like Les and Larry were. And I think being away from his family and touring all the time took a toll the family and himself. I don't think he's going to just quit playing drums I'm sure he will continue to practice and if the right situation presents itself I'm sure he will get back into the scene. But it would have to be something really special and I don't think he's done with Primus I'm sure if he wanted back in the band they would certainly work something out. And I think some people think that you know Les Claypool is Primus that couldn't be farther from the truth Tim Alexander is as important to that band as Les Claypool is. If les wasn't the kind of bass player he was and Larry was not a guitar player like he was they would have never been able to get a drummer as good as Tim Alexander he took that band into the upper echelon and they knew it that's why they got him. There's not a better Rhythm Section the past 30 years then les and Tim. Its going to be so tough to replace him and I'm sure they'll find somebody pretty good I mean they did with brain and Jay Lane. But you can never replace that kind of greatness you can only hope for the best. And I wish Primus the best and the Primus camp and I hope they find somebody but just like it was when Tim left the band I stopped going to see them live and I won't go see them live anymore not without him behind the kit it's just not the same. God bless Primus and see ya Tim for now. I mean I've seen Primus with Tim Alexander 10 times from 1991 all the way through Charlie and the Chocolate Factory the tribute to rush and desaturating seven. Even when they went under the assumed name Voltron in 2004 for the EP animals should not try to act like people. Of course they went on a full-fledged tour and they also have the DVD from hallucino-gentics. So yeah I've been there and done that and it's all good. See on the flip side Tim and good luck Primus

I was fortunate enough to see these guys at Tipitina's in New Orleans in 1991 for Frizzle fry then I saw primus twice for sailing the season cheese at State Palace Theater in New Orleans and they opened up for Rush at UNO Lakefront Arena during the roll the bones tour also during sailing the Seas of cheese the greatest damn show I've ever been to In My Life. Man I saw them at Lollapalooza during pork soda and I sawthem again at State Palace Theater in New Orleans for pork soda and I saw them during Tales from the punch bowl at the House of Blues. then I didn't see them again until 2004 when herb came back and they did an EP why animals shouldn't act like humans I think that's what it was called and they were under an assumed name Voltron and of course they made a DVD as well during that time which was really popular hallucinogentics DVD which shows Primus in all their Glory. I saw them during that tour in Atlanta. Then I did not see them again until Charlie and the Chocolate Factory after herb came back for a second time or was it the third time I don't know if he had had his first Heart Attack by then I know he had two heart attacks and he also had open heart surgery so yeah that always stays with you I'm sure I mean that's a big deal for something like that to happen to you not once but twice I mean he's even lucky to be alive and be with us. But anyway I saw Primus for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in New Orleans at the Civic Theater in Nawlins by Lee Circle and then I saw them again for the desaturating seven I guess 2 years later at the same theater.... the Civic! And I finally saw him for the Majestic Rush tribute tour where they did a farewell to Kings album from Rush to commemorate Neil Peart and his passing and the end of a magical career that Rush had and that was at the House of Blues so yeah I've seen Tim Alexander pretty much on every tour that he's been on with Primus with the exception of the last couple years. I mean they haven't made an album since desaturating seven so I suspect they're just touring the country just to be touring but it will be minus Tim herb Alexander God bless you brother

Got to shake Hands With The Beef 🥩 (Less Claypool) himself, in Louisville at A dive called Jillians. Little dive probably held 600 people maybe. I heard him saying an interview. He does not touch peoples hands and is kind of a germ Afobe now. Interesting. He actually kissed my wife’s hand and said Madame. It was a highlight in our lives.😊😂
