That delta valve was designed that way to help absord shock from the faucet shutting off fast. It was also designed to be removed without cutting a wall open. The straps are not necessary.
Man, the person that installed mine didn’t even use the built in mount, they just left it suspended by the cpvc. I went to change my cartridge because it was leaking and snapped all three pieces of cpvc clean off.
@@urjnlegend actually, a copper strap will hold up better in this particular case because the galvanized strap is going to corrode fairly quickly due to being in contact with the brass. Placing the zinc-coated strap so it is not in contact with brass and using stainless steel screws would work fine though.
Do you absolutely need to use 3/4 inch pex for a shower legit question because I ordered half-inch pex for my stand up shower.. and for my kids hallway, bathroom tub
Setting the delta shower valve, as recommended in the instructions, using the black plastic plate causes the valve handle to stick out waaaaay to far. Personally I think it looks like ass. Don't use a 2x4 to the back of the studs to mount it on, use a 1 x 4 or something. Thank me later
That's the only thing I don't like about the Delta shower valve is that it's not real solid when you install it on the board you have to add strapping I wish they would redesign it other than that I like Delta
Yeah I only put Kohler in my properties and try to use the same valve across all of them to keep it simple but the valve body has screw holes cast into it and it's super solid.
This guy must be a newbie. He forgot that the round crown cover that goes after the tile is installed is bolted down with the two long screws making the valve housing to be solid and firm. Lol. Btw those straps don’t mix with copper metals. Electrolysis will occur damaging the metal.
Yup. Made the average person able to save $200/hour for things that can easily be done now with a few tools. And if there’s a leak later, a quick replacement of some Pex and a clamp, and back in business.
$200? I don't know where you live but I need to move there. After overhead it's more like $50 that actually stays in the Plumber's pocket. I charge half that and after overhead I'd be lucky to make $20 per hour. @@No_bread-and-circuses

It's always customary to screw over the next guy. Also if it breaks that's job security for the next contractor.
Just making it harder for the guy that needs to replace it in the future lol
😂😂😂😂yes
Never build and side on poor quality of workmanship because of “the next guy”
@@JoniAntonioobut this IS poor quality 😂
Brass destroys galvanized straps i use 2 hole copper straps
Ya, : two dissimilar metals - galvanic reaction.
Just braze on some brass straps behind the valve. You can use the acet torch for the fittings as well. No need for solder.
@@xolomartinez6036 that sounds like more work for absolutly no reason lol
It's not a big deal, trim plate screws will secure it just fine..
I see a call about corroded plumbing when the metal erodes the zinc.
Once the plate is on it’s not moving either 😂 that’s the whole idea of the cover plate
And that’s a FU to the next guy that has to remove that shower valve…
Remove 2 screws. No big deal.
@@No_bread-and-circusesthose screws are behind the shower wall. Not assessable once the shower is installed.
@@tedmcnair9709 Wouldn't you still have to access the threaded nuts to disconnect the pex, so in any case, you'd have to cut an opening?
You need copper straps
Plastic strapping won’t corrode
I use heavy duty zip ties. No GR
I want to see you replace it after the tile is up😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Fail.. galvanic action bud.. the remodel plate will look good in a few years.. get copper band iron
Yep. Copper plated tape or some copper two hole strap is what was needed here. small detail, but important detail.
Not needed. Once the face plat is installed there wouldn't be a wiggle. I installed Symmons, though, and they're sturdy with just the two screws
Just braze some brackets to the brass shower valve, now solid as a rock.
Awesome tip brother !
Thanks man
When did they change plumbers tape to pipe strap?
Man, the person that installed mine didn’t even use the built in mount, they just left it suspended by the cpvc. I went to change my cartridge because it was leaking and snapped all three pieces of cpvc clean off.
That would have snapped anyways its cpvc
And the pipe strapping is blocking the couplers……😂😂😂
Up next on another episode of call a plumber...
and pay them $150 hour to do a job you can do for free.
Call a plumber and you need a 2nd job. I'm 74 and I've never called a plumber. It's not going to happen.
If you stubbed out with copper you would have better material to help secure the valve body.
Hot diggity are those *compression fittings* on the valve connections?
Screw on pex adapters. Standard way of doing it.
Galvanic corrosion
Wow toy pipes!
copper plumbers tape with zinc screws would match and look better
I disagree.
I think the zinc coated strap hes using would hold up better than the copper, plus more people would have it available, grest vid
if you’re worried about aesthetics of rough in work idk what to tell you

overkill job, have installed 100s of this delta 10000s, and not a complaint from customers
Tape up those straps with some electrical tape

No. That's ½" man. We reduced down before we ever got to the valve body. No issues ever.
Amerika 😊
Once you tighen the face plate to the tiles it will be solid as a rock. Waste of time

Can the black plastic plate be discarded
A. That's a horse-shit Chinese design.

U guys have no clue what you’re doing. Can’t have steel touching copper. You should call a plumber
Yah, no
Way better ,… if you sweat copper it gets super ridged if clamped … but I suppose ur method w/ pex is best of both worlds
Delta valves are trash use moen
Noooooooooooo
