    I am not trained in vet medicine at all but have several animals and always go homeopathic before conventional in treating their illnesses or injuries. I have been watching your videos for two hours and want to take the day off from work to watch more! I cured my sphynx cat a few years back from some sort of liver illness...vet had no idea, said it didnt look good, she was almost mustardish yellow - just wanted to poke and test for hundreds of dollars. No way. I read in my natural healing books, got some milk thistle and fed it to her in kitten food. That was 7 years ago. She is perfect.. I am always going to try natural first...keep posting, please...love it!!! You are awesome...what a kind compassionate soul. Someone actually out to help animals, not benefit drug companies and be ruled by the all mighty dollar. How wonderful. An angel among us animal lovers...

    I'm a veterinary cardiologist and actually applaud you for encouraging people not to put their dogs on heartworm prevention if they live in an area where heartworm is not endemic (doesn't exist). I agree that the drug companies, in their quest to get every dog in North America on their product, have misled many veterinarians and their clients. See next post -

      Corrie Robertson same here! I just adopted a chihuahua with heartworm and I volunteer with dogs as well. Texas has SO MANY dogs infected and so many people who don't know about the disease. It's heartbreaking, really. I try to be as "natural" as possible and give as little medication to my dogs as I can but I do not take the chance here in Texas. We are. Unfortunately, a very high risk area.

    I took my dog to get neutered. He was a rescue. A Rottweiler. He Did have a mean striek and could be aggressive when scared. I had double muzzled him and gave him a sedidative (from the vet prior when I made the appointment. He was under control The whole time. The surgeon told me he had heartworms that had matured. She recommended I put him down. I was heartbroken. He was a good dog. A neglected dog. He was coming around to trust me. Anyway...I allowed his death and suffered depression over it for months. A Wholestic vet told me he could have come out of it with the right treatment. I was so angry with the surgeon. Too many vets get immune to killing in my mind and are out of touch for the animal itself. i think bc of his aggression the surgeon didn't want to be bothered. My advice get a second opinion. Poor baby had a rough life already and then they kill him. I'll never forget how he looked up at me before his death. I'll never get over that feeling of maybe he could have lived on. He was only about 4years old.

      Upon watching one of these videos I took my dog to the vet and asked if he had heard about the use of Panacur for cancer. Basically he told me I was wasting my money. I got a prescription of prednisone for the tumors and went to the local farm supply for panacur. My dog's tumors are a little larger than a softball. When we started her on the regimen I noticed the tumor beginning to soften and shrink. Kentucky has a high rate of cancer among humans and if this works then I know what to get myself should I develop cancer. My dog is on the second week of the regimen and from the size of the tumors it looks like I have a long road ahead of me. Dog is mobile and doesn't act like she's in any pain. The vet said that if the tumors burst I'd have to put the dog down and we're, my daughter and i, are trying to prevent that.

      I am so sorry. This is why I would always consider another opinion or even try to treat it my self before making that descion. My aunts dog a small chihuahua had a collapsed trachea, she was on vet meds, expensive one but only got worse and the vet told her to put her down and my aunt did. It was so sad, the dog was pleading with her eyes and crying the whole way to the vet, at the vet she tried to run to my aunt as in saying take me home please dont kill me. She was stupidly murdered. It is so sad and I cant get over the trauma. My aunt doesn't believe in hollistic anything. Later on I comducted a small search and even went on amazon who sells all these amazing natural stuff and many people on there had their dogs with collapsed tracheas trhiving and better with natural remedies. I felt.so sad, my aunt did not do everything she could for her baby, she just took the vets advice as the law. It sickens me.

      I completely agree! HAHA...I'm always worried about putting poison on them or in their bodies and bloodstream...I don't want to apply pesticides that will be in my dog's blood to kill fleas or ticks that bite, it's great that it kills the pests but I found out that there is next to no regulation whatsoever on those products...
      But then, the vets always say to ALWAYS use the preventatives and vaccine boosters (I'm glad that it seems more accessible to have them tested for the presence of the antibody now though :-D )
      ...buying dog food my head usually explodes a few times trying to compare and be able to buy food for me too, lol ;-)

      I live in Canada, and according to the video, the story of heartworm disease is that " ..it's difficult to acquire and usually NOT fatal "Good - I often wondered what the REAL, and long term affect was, of giving my dog a drug that would KILL a mosquito, if it bit them !!! Sounds like a strong poison IS circulating throughout my dogs system to me, for THAT to happen !!
      SO the dog gets bitten anyway - what's the point ????
      Also there's that WHOLE added expense EVERY year of taking that 'heartworm test' "to be sure they didn't get it ", in spite of taking the drugs !! Doesn't exactly instill confidence, does it ? And the WHOLE issue of those 'yearly shots' that are NOT needed because most of them last for YEARS, and some last a lifetime, with just that ONE initial shot and ONE booster, when they're puppies... But it sure helps pad out the vet's bank account, every year, to give out all those tests, shots, pills, etc.
      WHAT A RACKET !!! NO MORE for my dogs !!

    Thanks for this video. It’s so hard to know what to do. I live in the Northeast, primarily in New York City. For decades, I’ve been following the Pitcairn method of feeding my dog home cooked food exclusively. Pitcairn’s theory is that your dog is more resistant to heart worm if your dog is healthy and has a strong immune system. My conventional vet office argued last year that it only takes one infected mosquito to bite your dog for the disease to be transmitted. They used the (very convincing) case of dogs who are routinely rescued from the south to the northeast with heart worm, which means that transmission is much more likely in the northeast and they’ve told me that it doesn’t depend on whether your dog is healthy or not. My dog is now 12 years old and is showing signs of slowing down. The vets have also said that despite testing, the disease doesn’t show up for quite some period of time and that the heart worm disease treatment can potentially kill your dog. I’m unfortunately not aware of any clinical proof that a healthy dog would be able to fend off heart worm disease, so I contacted my holistic vet who suggested that I hedge my bets and go with heartworm treatments every 90 days along with biannual tests for heartworm. I’m following this advice, although I wince every 90 days as I feed my 12 year-old dog the meat-flavored rectangular pesticide-laden treat. I make sure that it’s only ivermectin and not the “plus” product, which contains additional pesticides to ward off ticks and fleas. So far, so good, but I always fear the long-term effect will be that I’m doing damage to my dog’s internal chemistry and organs.

    Lots of common sense. I had a dog who died of heartworm when I lived in Texas 30 years ago. After that happened, I always used a preventative, until we moved from that hot climate to a cool and dry climate wher heart worm is not a threat. When we vacation in Texas, though, I go back to a preventative.

Living in the Southeast, US, I dose with cattle ivermectin 6mcg/kg during the mosquito season (have to use insulin syringe due to minute dose). 3 years ago we adopted a male yellow lab. He had been relinquished to a shelter by his owner because he had heartworms, fleas and was in diminished health. He was treated for the heartworms, fleas and was neutered. My husband and I were fortunate to adopt him, as he is a sweet, loveable dog, and happy to have a good home. I took him to our Vet, and we put him on Heartguard year around. We live in Western Colorado, where the winters are very mild. Am I doing the right thing for him? He is 8 years old now, and our Vet thinks he has severe heart and lung damage. But we take walks everyday, and he takes swims in the river, and runs up and down the hills.

A very smart little man who always used the best medicine, whatever it was. If Mr Grover said it would work , it did. And it would be cost effective as well. This was in the late 50’s and in the Mtns. So he was way ahead of his time. Or....are we just getting back to how it SHOULD be when it comes to drugs, in people as well as animals ?

    I have a question regarding heartworm treatment. I am a foster and one of my current pets is going through heartworm treatment- the slow kill version with heartgard. He threw up a lot of blood last night, fresh bright red and coagulated a bit, and I was wondering what was causing this. He was taken to the vet as soon as we noticed in the morning and we are waiting to see what they say. Being a foster and not the owner, they do not really explain much to me except for what to do as far as treatments, and I was wondering what would cause the bleeding. I understand that it could be linked to an allergic reaction to the wolbachia bacteria inside of the heartworms, but I am a veterinary student and I was wondering what exactly was going on inside the body. I haven't been able to find anything online that goes into depth about heartworm side effects so I was wondering if your team could possible help. Thanks!

    I am so scared. My beagle tested positive for heart worm.
    We tend to adopt last chance dogs. I am a long time pet owner and have a lot of patience. She is no different. She was not potty trained and has anxieties, including separation anxiety. Because my dogs already have been through a lot in their lives, I use as much holistic medicine as possible. Healing the whole dog is more important than addressing that one symptom.
    Anyway, I don't understand how she could have it now. She was fine last year and took her meds. We live in Michigan, we have a risk but not as serious as most spots.

    I used to give my dogs Heartguard on a monthly basis; I live in Florida and I know they are at risk but a Vet told me that I could skip a month or two and the Ivermectin would stay in their system for as long as 3 months. Is this true?

    • @heatheater4370
      @heatheater4370 9 месяцев назад

      I don’t know if that is true or not but I live in Florida too. My neighbor didn’t want their lab anymore and I took her. When they gave me her medical records they forgot she tested positive for heart worms. They told me they treated her every month with ivermectin and yet she tested positive. So, now I’m going through the heart worm treatment and I am back on Heartguard. Since we both live in Florida, I thought I would share my experience with you. I wish there was a more homeopathic way to treat her but like Dr. Jones has stated, in our area we have to use these preventatives.

    I am very concerned for my friends senior cocker spaniel and despite all of my efforts encouraging them to get him the proper exams and treatments he desperately needs, they continue to ignore everything. I feel so bad for Buddy and it saddens me so much to see him in the horrible condition that he's in especially since his brother Red had to recently be euthanized because of his severely deteriorated health which they also ignored until it was too late. I know buddy has had some type of ear infections in both of his ears for at least 3 years and they have done nothing to help him, also no matter what they bathe him with or how often they bathe him, he always smells like a combination of dead animal and dog feces. Also he always has fleas and he has had some type of worms for about 3 months and despite them treating him with over the counter worming medicine repeatedly, the worms do not go away. PLEASE give me as much advice as you can so I can try to finally get through to them before buddy surcums to the same fate as his brother Red. And should I report them to the humane society?

And you can buy some horse wormer at a farm supply store for about 15 bucks and it would take only a VERY small amount to treat the worms. Ask how to do the dosage on one of many facebook sites about dog health. Someone will help you figure the dosage. It's not rocket science.

      If you are a doctor, have to support clinic staff salaries, pay your liability insurance, read up on latest meds and diseases, treat multiple species of mammals, not just one, and manage your domestic chores, financial future, kids, relationships, etc, you would not have time to worry about blow drying your hair. Would you rather have a well-coiffed and manicured vet, than one who knows how to save your pet? Case closed. Don't make such disrespectful comments in public again. Vets are my heroes!

    • @whiskytango17
      @whiskytango17 10 лет назад +5

      Lass-in Angeles
      Relax Angeles. Alice is commenting legitimately based on normal concerns. When people are relying on other individuals for advice or care, one substantial sign of credibility is how well the person takes care of themselves. If a person doesn't have time to groom themselves before something as public as a video to advertise their business, then an individual will absolutely question what other aspects of their life or practice that they allow to go unmanaged. It's also Alice's right to make those comments, so telling her not to make 'such disrespectful comments in public again' is a wildly narcissistic demand (that you have every right to make also). In this case, I don't personally believe that Mr. Jones' hair reflects his skills as a veterinarian, but I did notice how unkempt it looked in the beginning of the video. He sounds very passionate and knowledgeable, even though I disagree with a couple of his opinions. I just disagree with your assertion that busy people don't have time to groom themselves, or someone must choose between an intelligent and skilled caregiver or one that takes care of themselves. That's ridiculous. Vet's are a lot of people's heroes. I was at the vet this morning and she was beautiful, well dressed, showered AND intelligent. I'm sure this comment is a waste of time, but never-the-less, here it is.

      Rohit lohchab Me too. I have the same problem here. We are worried also. Our dog got Adisons disease after a vaccine & now is on florin daily & has to get regular bloodworm done. It has cost us thousands, $5000 just to save her life when she collapsed. Grateful they save her but so tired of the vets bleeding me dry. One of them almost killed her again from too much medication, caused a GI bleed, been through so much...But I can't help but wonder if the cough could be from all the spraying, chemtrails because my husband & I seem to get sick at exactly the same time, sniffling & sneezing twice now right after they sprayed. Have you found anything for your dog? I just read about usnea & elderberry on one website. (www.thepossiblecanine.com under usnea). I also am trying CBD oil & Black seed oil. The black seed is supposed to be amazing for lung infections. Just started it. Used Lung Flush by Omega Alpha in Canada from the health food store, which worked for a while, so did antibiotics worked for a while too, so did Lung Care by NaturoPet but so far it works for a few weeks or months & then it comes back again. Well best of luck & many blessings friend. Also might be worth watching the youtube video "What the vets won't tell you! How to kill heart worm!" by Tammy Skinner Pugh.

      TAKE YOUR DOG INTO A VET RIGHT AWAY!!! There's multiple reasons/things that can explain ur dogs laboured breathing. But NONE of them are good reasons.... Could be respiratory issues, lung issues, heart problems, a tumor/tumors, heartworms or possibly some kind of injury they may have suffered....(That last option was NOT in any way, shape or form me accusing u of any wrong doing) Is ur dogs mouth wide open, tongue hanging out & is it breathing really fast & panting really fast? It could also be things like they're hurting from something, Cushing's disease, pneumonia, heart issues/failure, lung tumors Ect.... I know we don't know each other & I'm not trying to be all up in ur business, But I REALLY, HONESTLY & TRULY think, feel & believe that u should take ur sweet pup to the vet.... Yes, it is the only way to kill the worms once they already have full grown worms living inside of them. If you don't treat your dog he/she will die anyway -- so if you care about your pet you should at least give treatment a try.

    • @likeabunnie
      @likeabunnie 8 лет назад +3

      I am not a vet, but it is true that if you aren't sure if your dog may have heartworm, vets tell you not to give it, because it can send the dog into shock/allergic reaction/severe bad reaction, as the preventative will kill the larve (I don't recall the specific reasons-but it could be fatal). Additionally, in the US at least (I think the whole country), you must have a prescription written to obtain the conventional preventative which your vet can only give you after doing a blood test to make sure your dog is free of heartworm.
      PLEASE, see your vet ASAP- as the video stated, heartworms can slowly be killing your pet! The only way to really know and treat it is by seeing your vet.
      If finances are the issue, I encourage you to look online for your area and see if there are mobile vet clinics, they typically don't charge a fee to see your pet, so you are only charged for any vaccines you might want to buy from them, and they usually are able to take a blood sample fairly cheaply and send it out for testing to see if there are any heartworms. If you need help locating resources, if you tell me a city and state you live in or near I could help look online, etc!
      Please get your pup checked out asap, though, you clearly love your pooch since you are watching this video, so I wouldn't want something entirely treatable to get worse-heartworm suck because they multiply and just fill up vital organs, and I think the video said you won't see symptoms until they have already been infected for half a year, so once symptoms occur I would get on that- best wishes (and I don't mean to freak you out, either...it could be a completely benign cough, but if it is something you've not seen much prior to recently, I would strongly encourage you to get out checked out!
      Thanks for looking out for your pups health! Let me know if resources are the issue- I can't personally help but like I said, would be happy to help locate services if that's making it hard

    • @likeabunnie
      @likeabunnie 8 лет назад

      To clarify, the first poster is correct that you must give them the medication to save them, but if your dog has heartworm, there is a different medication used, and they are injected, then observed at the vets office for a few hours to make sure they don't have a reaction to the worms dying off.
      Another series of injections is given by the vet a month later, and then I think a week following that, and then that should have killed them.
      The medication given by the vet as an injection is different than the pills you buy to prevent heartworm. Until seeing a vet and being tested for heartworm, and being told by the vet that it is ok, GIVING THE PILLS TO A HEARTWORM POSITIVE DOG CAN KILL IT...
      So just get in to the vet ASAP, get pup tested- if pup has heartworm, the vet will talk to you about the treatment and such! Hope you get it figured out and your pooch is feeling better soon! :-)

    I think you have a good channel, but like every other conventional veterinarian you are subtly guiding people away from using, for once, actually effective dewormer drugs that have practically no side effects, with quite useless arguments like 'if you live in Canada'. Heartworms and most other worms are very hard to test for, it is much easier and to have a preventative regime for canines literally eating other dogs butts, when most other types of worms are transmitted by feces. You guys would have a lot fewer patients if everyone was regularly using dewormers on their canines.
