    I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw what your new tutorial was for...I say this because this was my first sewing project I ever made that was not clothing for my girls. There was a pattern from McCall's or Simplicity, must have been in the late 1980s or early 1980s maybe...the only difference was that the tissue box acted as the body of a cat and you would attach a stuffed tail on the back and a stuffed head and paws on the front...memories lol. Thank you for sharing this😀

Thank you, once again for your efforts in teaching this old dog some wonderful new tricks. You bring a lot of sunshine into these cold winter days.

    lol fire sale. I am going to have to have a fire sale on the pillow covers you taught me how to make, I made 20 or more by now and gave 12 away...and still want to make more! The type with the fold over back so you can remove the pillow inside ...that one. Now, I think everyone will be getting tissue box covers! :D Thanks for always being fun to watch. Your friend, Carol

    A very nice project. I dont have the interfacing you talk of, but I would use Fusable Bosal on the piece of fabric, as the box it is going on is going to keep the shape anyway, and bosal helps to keep shape.

    I have Crocheted a tissue box cover that holds my crochet hooks , scissors, sew needle, measure tape , ruler, small note pad and pen . I am trying to figure out how to send you a picture of this but I don’t know how to access my camera. I sure could use some of Maxwells computer expertise right now . I may have to try and send it on FB . I am so tech challenged lol 😂 would love to show you this cover . I made several for friends and for gifts.

      By golly I think I got it . I sent an email with pictures . I am thinking of making a quilted one to hold seam ripper , small scissors, marking pen/pencil, reading glasses , measuring tape . All the things you need close to you and a few clips on a ribbon . Where the loop is. That holds markers or pins . What do you think ?

    Off topic but I wanted to ask you about your shelving for your fabric. I finally got all my fabric wrapped on comic board cards (took me a week) and now I need shelving. I remember you saying you sons built them for you but where did you get the materials? Are these already made units that you just put together or are they custom cut for your space?

    • @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
      @jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory  6 лет назад +3

      Congrats for wrapping all your fabric! Isn't it rewarding? These shelves are from the Home Depot. They are prefinished melamine (sp?) 11 1/2" wide with the bull nose edging. They come in 8 foot lengths. We used steel "L" brackets on the underneath side (screwed upwards) and affixed to the wall into studs. Very very easy and quick because there really is no major cutting (if you have a large wall) and there is absolutely no painting or finishing. My husband did space them about every 12 inches or so for the fabric cardboard/books and magazines to stand vertical. He also used several smaller vertical cuts to really firm up the shelves. I adore them and have them around every wall in my room!! :)

    • @jaclynmoylan1905
      @jaclynmoylan1905 6 лет назад +1

      Yes it’s very rewarding. And thank you so much for the shelving information. I will be getting on this project right after Christmas

    • @jaclynmoylan1905
      @jaclynmoylan1905 6 лет назад +2

      Oh and on the ends to enclose them is that just another piece of the shelving material to keep your fabric from falling off the sides

    • @jaclynmoylan1905
      @jaclynmoylan1905 6 лет назад +3

      Jean Truelove ok I went back and watched your sewing room tour again (should have done that in the first place instead of you having to repeat yourself in a reply lol) And I see what your husband did on the sides and the small bits you are talking about to beef up the shelves. I love, love, love, your fabric storage. I cannot wait to get organized, it’s been really stressing me out. All this started with me being gifted all that beautiful fabric and I had it stored in totes at my daughters house in an upstairs bedroom that wasn’t used. I finally decided after almost a year to get it all to my house so I knew what I had instead of buying more all the time. In the meantime I purchased a new sewing machine (now that was very stressful. I told everyone it was worse than buying a new car). Now that I have everything here I could possibly need for sewing and quilting ( I will always by fabric and thread but you know what I mean), I’m ready to get everything into place. Unfortunately the room I’m using for sewing is my sunroom which I love all the natural light, but I have too many windows and not enough wall space, so my plan is to use the spare bedroom for my fabric storage where I have enough wall space for shelving. It’s probably better that way anyway so my fabric will not be exposed to a lot of direct sunlight like it would in the sunroom. I have a cabinet maker friend that is recovering from surgery so when he’s up and at em he will build me a cabinet for my sewing machine to fit into and I’m thinking maybe a good size surface on the other side for a cutting area like you have set up behind your machine so it can accommodate quilts while I’m quilting. It’s exciting planning all this but stressful too because I just want it done NOW lol
