Those rubber urinal gaskets are usually reusable. That looked like an American Standard urinal. We have a product called Clobber. If you put it in the urinal, you have to evacuate the room for a while because it is so powerful. Nice job on cleaning the urinal out!
Thanks Randy. Appreciate that that product clobber does it break down the calcium and does it do anything to the urinal? And also how long does it usually take? Thanks for watching. I hope you have yourself a great day brother
@@Jaythatdrainguy I rarely use acid it but if I do I tape a heavy plastic trash bag tight to the porcelain and let it sit overnight. The fumes can be brutal and they can attack the metal in the room. The calcium washes away or at least softens up enough that you can remove it with a little scraping. I haven't used Clobber but I have used Calcisolve and Sizzle. If you use acid, it's a good idea to have some baking soda on hand to neutralize any spills. I would have the bag taped on except for a little flap at the bottom to pour the acid through. Pour it very slowly into the water in the fixture. When done pouring, tape the flap to the porcelain. Also, Barkeeper's Friend will usually take the scuffs from metal tools off the porcelain. Just put a little on a rag and scrub a little. It won't scratch the porcelain.
Awesome to know about the barkeeper's friend. I've never heard of that. I'll definitely look into that because I on occasion will scratch toilets with my auger and some people get real pissed about it. Thanks for watching Roger. I hope you like the video and I hope you had yourself a great
It doesn't take very long to activate, but it is potent. If you have copper waste arms,it will eat through them. You are better off removing the urinal and running cable
I found this extremely interesting. As a female that used to work in restaurants, I know exactly how gross urinals smell. It's the most uniquely putrid smell ever. 🤢🤮 great video!
Yeah, they're definitely pretty bad QB Glad you found the video interesting. I hope you liked it and I really hope you have yourself a great day. Thank you for watching. Trogna.
Urine has calcium in it and it turns into calcium if it's been sitting if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for watching John I hope you have yourself a great day.
Why did you remove the vacuum breaker, flush tube, and spud coupling instead of taking the assembly apart above the vacuum breaker? Just curious. Urinals are the worst! I just remove the flush valve when working on a urinal or water closet toilet.
I would highly recommend muriatic acid or hydrochloric acid to quickly clean urine buildup. Just can't do it consistently as it can be bad for drains if used heavily
Yeah I definitely agree a lot of the times they don't want us to use the acids and a lot of times we don't like using the acids because of it's not good for the pipe. Also, when we're in a location where people are, they don't want it because of the smell. Thanks for watching. I hope you have yourself a great day
I used to do everything you did but then I poured muratic acid in there and that does wonders. You can pour acid into water but not water into acid. So to remove the acid you can run water just have the area masked off really well and don’t leave the acid in longer then 20 min and do it in fresh air or well ventilated area
Same! This video might just save my ass.😂 Im in the middle of cleaning a unrinal at big lots right now and I can’t get through the calcium build up. About to try this same method!! 🤞🤞🤞
My toilet gets crystalline build up. I'm not sure if it's pee or hard water, but if it's pee, at least it 's my own pee. I'll never complain about it again.
Yes you can. Sometimes the calcium is solid and it still won't work though because if you're not getting a good seal on the vacuum, you're just going to suck air from around it if that makes sense. Thanks for watching. Have a great day
Honestly, John. It all depends on how much usage there. Getting and the water flow and everything like that. I've seen urnals that were probably from the 80s. Or 70s, and they could have even been older. Thanks for watching John. Have a great day.
A lot of the newer/remodeled rest areas along the interstates here in the Rocky Mountain states are using Kohler floor length urinals and porcelain fixtures.
I agree. I'm a drain technician, not a plumber. So im not allowed to solder. But the people we go to these jobs for are plumbers but don't deal with drain blockages. Thanks for watching. Have a great day.
The most real video of everything doing this kind of work involves. Thank you.
Thanks for watching brother have a great day
Good job done Jay, on no account i could have the guy standing and watching me on every move, he should have just done it himself.
Yeah your right I definitely did not know he was going to be on the job site thanks for watching Taylor I hope you have yourself a great day.
Good job Jay that was a nasty one we use muriatic acid to get rid of those urinal salts what do you think about that as a solution
I have never used it how is the fumes. Thanks for watching Robert I hope you have yourself a great day.

Oh yeah I got to love the smell of those urinals John. Hopefully the dogs and chips are good. Have yourself a great day brother
Glad you cleared it Jay those urinals are American standard and they siphon
Thanks for watching Timmy Turner I hope you have yourself a great day.
How does calcium form in a urinal? and on a side note you should have wrote "Jay the drain guy was here"
Urine has calcium in it and it turns into calcium if it's been sitting if I'm not mistaken. Thanks for watching John I hope you have yourself a great day.
@@Jaythatdrainguy oh ok thanks
A guy with the same name and cleans shit just like me
Lol we are the same
To clean that out
Thanks a lot. Cheers
in other video he wrote about fat sweats :) i have them to, but jay is not even fat.

Sometimes I just do just so I make sure it doesn't get knocked off while moving it around

Good advice. The only issue with me is every call I do there are always people around. Thanks for watching John have a great day.
why is the turn off screw counter clock wise?
I don't think it was.
@@Jaythatdrainguy so you turn in clockwise to shut off
thank you
Yes, you turn it clockwise to shut the water off counterclockwise to turn it on. Thanks for watching. S. H, I hope you have yourself a great weekend

I wouldn't take a risk

How Many Years can a Public Urinal Last For????
Honestly, John. It all depends on how much usage there. Getting and the water flow and everything like that. I've seen urnals that were probably from the 80s. Or 70s, and they could have even been older. Thanks for watching John. Have a great day.
@Jaythatdrainguy Do They Still make Urinals that go Down to The Floor????
@johnschirloff836 Yeah, we service Costco's for another company and a lot of their urinals are floor mounted.
A lot of the newer/remodeled rest areas along the interstates here in the Rocky Mountain states are using Kohler floor length urinals and porcelain fixtures.
@jbsimmons54 oh really eh. I like the floor models they're easier to snake out lol
Looks like the control stop needs to be replaced with it dripping the way it is when turned off.
