As an old head (as in Im 23 but listen to OLD music) I think we're looking in the wrong era. The audio quality shares a similar sound to garage rock from the 1960s possibly early 70s.

    • @NAETEMUSIC
      @NAETEMUSIC  Год назад +3

@@itscs1175 you know I never considered this but it is not a bad idea AT ALL. The sound quality does remind of me of a garage band from the 60s like the sonics, except hispanic. This would be a good place to look, I think as well. Also since Britpop is basically a ripoff of 60s music it makes sense people got confused.

I have been involved in researching the song, and someone found out about a band from Brazil called "The Outs". Today they sing in Brazilian Portuguese, but before they changed vocalist, they were a BritPop/psychadelic rock band who sand in English and whose former vocalist had a very similar voice to Cancion de Alicia´s vocalist. Their former vocalist was eventually contacted and confirmed it´s not by them - but I swear, their music video for their song titled "Dream Song" has a very similar artistic style to the original post of Cancion de Alicia on Facebook. Since I have no reason to believe the guy was lying, I guess it´s just a weird coincidence.

I know a lot of people have pointed out that the style sounds similar to 80s-90s Argentinian or Spanish rock (or more recent, like 2000s-2010s), but the accent, to me, sounds Spanish, so I believe it's very likely that this band is/was from Spain. I've seen others claim it sounds Argentinian, though. I'm not familiar enough with Brazilian Portuguese to tell if the accent could also be Brazilian.
By the way, my original comment keeps getting deleted, it was about Yandex. I wonder why. Long story short, Yandex reverse image search results are generally better than Google's, which is why people use it to find leads on image sources, but the search engine naturally prioritizes results from the region of the world where Yandex is from, so it doesn't mean the images were actually first posted on sites that are from there.

(I'm using a translator, sorry for the possible mistakes)
Some time ago I made a search for the gifs of Alicia's video using the TinEye search engine, I copy here the comment I made at the time:
    ""1st GIF: May 2012
2nd GIF: October 2013 originating from Tumblr
3rd GIF: Couldn't find it to do the reverse lookup
4th GIF: November 2014 originating from We Heart It
5th GIF: February 2014, the original post was apparently deleted, as the upload following it (Feb 2014) is of a cell phone case with the gif image.
    6th GIF: I haven't found it yet
-I still think the edit was made in 2015-2017, it was definitely after Nov 2014.
I put 2017 as the cutoff date since a lot of reposting of the gifs was done on Tumblr and RUclips in that year, more specifically early and mid-year. And the editing matches the one that was handled until those dates, then there was quite a big change in format and style.
I think it is important to know approximately the date of creation of the video to filter searches, because it is to my mind, very likely to be on RUclips like hundreds of other edits of the style that do not reach 500 views.
-I'm also trying to find out what was the program used to edit, that may help to determine even more dates. I'm going by the transition that was used at the 0:30 second.
( ruclips.net/video/rLFVfVrBZ_Q/видео.html ) is a very typical transition, but very specific as well, as each software recreates it in a slightly different way.
I tried to compare with several possible editors, such as Camtasia Studio 8 (very typical of the time), Windows Movie Maker, Filmora and Capcut (following the theory that possibly the edit was recently made by Jitomate Triste) and in none of them I could find that transition. I have yet to try in many more, but that's what I have so far.
Edit: I found it curious since the gif doesn't start playing until the transition finishes entering, something that used to happen to me sometimes in CapCut""
I think that might go so far as to rule out your theory that the edit came from Russia. Since the gifs were reposted on many, many pages, mostly on gif sites, We Heart It and Tumblr, which as I explain in the comment, I found a large part of them being reposted many times in early and mid 2017 by different users of the platform.
If I remember correctly, many of the RUclips videos with gifs made in 2017 were apparently made by Brazilian people. Which at some point came to fit with the lead that it was possibly a Brazilian band (already discarded).

    • @chocokeeki
      @chocokeeki Год назад

Yes, it's very likely that at least some of the GIFs used in that edit originated from Tumblr in that era, 2012-ish. Disney was extremely popular on Tumblr at the time (even more so than now), as were GIF sets with short, small and/or low-quality GIFs due to the platform's limitations.

@@frylopers4232 Hello, thank you very much for your contribution! Personally, I think there is a great possibility that the edit comes from Brazil, since there was a large influx of editions of that style coming from there.
By any chance, the edit you remember seeing could have been this one?
      ruclips.net/video/OlX0N_7Ft0U/видео.htmlsi=qXdnJsfe-3AKEqAo
It was a quite famous edition with several re-uploads, which uses some of the gifs used in La Canción de Alicia.
If it's not that edit, and if it's not too impudent on my part, could you tell me what websites you used at that time? To focus the search for the edit there.

      @@hoshiskur Hey.
The video is pretty similar, but i dont remeber this being The audio. I think that this edit is a thing that someone did and people got It and mixed with various ways.
As for the websites, its a really great question, but since my mom didn't let me browse with liberty i can only think about It being from RUclips or Facebook. It can also be the chance of it being via bluetooth If you ask me, since my mom used it as main sharing form and in Brazil It was still a pretty popular way of sharing.

He said it sounds like a genre known as “shoegaze” started by 60 and 70s bands such as Pink Floyd, and Velvet Underground. 2 i think we should look in Costa Rica for this and i saw there was 2 youtube comments about hearing this song. One from 2013, the other from 2019. Another thing is this could’ve been played on college radio in the us. I’d look for cities with a wider music scene such as, Charlotte and Atlanta. Even though the singer from la "Canción de Alicia" and Pity Álvarez sound similar I highly doubt it's him. Pity and his old bands (Viejas Locas and Intoxicados) are still massive here in Argentina, so surelly someone would have recognized it as an old demo or something pretty easily. As far as I'm aware their albums contained only songs in spanish and their lyrics were maily about social issues and sometimes drugs, while La Canción de Alicia's lyrics seem to be more related to a generic romantic theme (maybe). It doesn't rule out that it's and old demo by Pity, but to me the singer of La Canción de Alicia sounds younger, possibly a teenager, which would also align with the lyrics and the sound of the band being kind of amateurish, if it was a recording from a well-known artist they probably would have had access to better equipment, right?

Can someone answer me something? If this is a lost song, nobody knows who originally cretad this music or even who is the sing the song. Who owns the copyright of this music? This is a free song to use it in any form of media? I don't mean the new covers but the lyrics and the original one. This song is in the public domain?

I think it's plausible that a man's voice will get lighter as they age. The most obvious example being Critikal or Penguin0 who you can tell had his voice get lighter as time went on.

I've seen two videos about this song and in BOTH of these videos, y'all talk about his accent or his voice or his singing, but those change over time. The original Gin&Tonic video was about 16 years ago. If it IS Ricardo, it's entirely possible that his voice just changed and he practiced the accent to better suit what he wanted to sing. It's not entirely out of the question.

@@kiriyaki201 Yeah but not like, that much. I can do a pretty decent approximation of a male opera voice but I'll never be able to do what Pavarotti does. It won't matter how much I practice, how much Italian I learn or what conditioning exercises I do. I just don't have the equipment. I'm a barry. I'll never be a tenor.

The voice and style of singing is very characteristic of Ilya Lagutenko - member of the Russian pop/rock band "Mumii Troll". So I guess, this was recorded from one of their live concerts. Just listen to this song and judge by yourself. ruclips.net/video/V7iCZQgK0SQ/видео.html
