- Kenya's former president, Mwai Kibaki, has died at the age of 90, President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced.
His 2002 election ended 40 years of one-party rule since independence.
However, his 2007 re-election sparked months of nationwide violence and led to 1,200 deaths.

Here lies a man who came, selflessly served his country and left as a much better place than he found it. He was allergic to theft or misuse of public resources and endeared his country men to work hard and stop doling out a begging bowl. He uncalculated the principle of self belief and you can do it attitude among Kenyans. His legacy is indelible and will be remembered by many generations. Rest in peace icon!
I remember him as the president who threw away The Begging Bowl and built our economy from negative to almost close to double digits. Rip legend
This evil media can only remember negative things about KIbaki. Kenyans remember him for building a versatile economy that is envied by neighbors. Were it not for him, Kenya would be poor economically and politically than some of Africa's worst democracies.

Yes. BBC and Western media cannot report fairly or positively on any leaders or governments outside of Europe and the Anglo Saxon world. Kibaki's legacy for economic management and development however, is assured. He can be credited for much as Finance Minister, and then when he became President, taking a thoroughly broken economy and reviving it back to health, shunning reliance on foreign aid by good fiscal management, and initiating development and infrastructure projects. History will judge you well, good sir. Thank you for your service to country and continent.

He took over when Kenya economy was in fragile - GDP was 2.0 and within a tenure of 10 year's GDP was around 7.5, thus he is remembered as a Great Leader. Fare thee well.

I will remember My President Kibaki as a selfless man who made visible positive changes in Kenya, an Economist, an Entertainer and a geunuine man in the way he ran his affairs.

He introduced free primary school 🏫 education , promise to create 100 k jobs in his first 100 days in office, which led for youth to own motorcycles for business now we have almost 1.5million youths earning a living through this scheme.
