Klezmer, the traditional music of Ashkenazic (Eastern European) Jewish folk musicians, dates back to the 16th century. As the Jewish people moved throughout Central and Eastern Europe, the music was influenced by local cultures. There are strong Middle Eastern roots which can also be heard in Jewish litugical music, because, of course, our nation/religion originated there. Other major influences came from Romania, Russia, the Ukraine, and Bessarabia. To learn more, here's a good article: borzykowski.users.ch/EnglMCKlezmer.htm. But listening to the music is best of all!

Music doesn't have a religion.. it is geographically oriented rather than religiously . There is nothing like "Jewish song" ..it should belong to a nation or a country
