You have a right to own a gun in every state but some states make it harder to own them. Of course there is gun violence here just like there is knife violence in the UK and China. The vast majority of gun violence is criminal on criminal. Just like every country in the world there are places you need to be more more careful. I am a retired police officer and can say if someone wants to hurt or kill someone they will find a way to do it whether it is with a knife, gun or a rock. When you come here you will generally be very safe but just like travelling anywhere you do need to be aware of where you go because there are areas you should avoid and most of those are in the bigger cities.
Yeah, she got on my nerves as she went on. She is exactly the kind of people we do not want in our country, people who come here and then act high and mighty and want to impose their nations law and cultural norms on us. She did not come here to be an American, she very obviously either came here on vacation or she came here to extract resources and opportunities for her own gain.
Try sourdough bread if you can find it, Andre. It is very American and not sweet at all. As for this girl, is she getting her bread at the gas station??? In my usual neighborhood supermarket, you can get French loaves, baguettes, croissants Ciabatta Naan Bagels in several varieties Sourdough White sandwich bread (the insipid stuff you and many Europeans are thinking of) Whole wheat sandwich bread Honey whole wheat bread Sprouted wheat bread White whole wheat bread (made from a variety of colorless wheat) Split top bread, white or whole wheat Hawaiian rolls Oat bread English muffins in several varieties Bolillos 7-grain bread 12-grain bread Ancient grains bread Whole wheat bread with walnuts Bread with seeds (sunflower, sesame, poppy, etc.) Pumpernickel rye Jewish rye Challah Tortillas, corn, wheat, and whole wheat Cinnamon raisin bread Gluten-free bread, several kinds Sorry, I could only think of those "few" varieties of breads off the top of my head. There are many more kinds available there in my neighborhood store. There is every degree of sweetness or lack of sweetness you can imagine. Several are baked on site every day, and the others are delivered fresh daily. *We have bread, don't worry about it.*
Haha nice! I get the exact same reaction from my European relatives and friends, they seem to believe American bread is only of the white Wonderbread variety for some bizarre reason, even when I confront them with the reality that we have everything they have and more. Very odd.
Aside from the fact that she hasn't tried many of the breads here, and she says that American bread is sweet, implying that makes it bad. That is a matter of taste! Just because you don't like something about it doesn't mean it's bad (exception may be white sandwich bread). When I was growing up, I thought my paternal grandma didn't could very well, but I liked the way that my maternal grandma cooked. It was because my mom cooked like her mom, and that was what I was used to. This Georgian is used to a certain type of bread, and calls all else 'bad'. Sounds like she has led a narrow life without many choices. Here, if we don't like something, we rarely call it bad, we just find the kind that we do like.
I'm 73 years old, and I have lived in America my entire life. She has not been here long enough to criticize the way she has. Just because it isn't the same as the country she came from doesn't mean it's wrong
She speaks like a eastern block person with the idea of unnecessary products. Maybe part of the American happiness is having your surrounding be tailored to your lifestyle and not be grey and boring.
Yeah the hatred for the smiley sponge was kinda funny. I wonder if she feels the same about festive kitchen towels, novelty soap dispensers or holiday rugs. People buy household "utility" items for their looks all the time. I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting some fun everyday items instead of purely functional items.
You can buy excellent bread here. Don’t buy Wonder bread; go to a good bakery. Most grocery stores have excellent bread baked on-site or delivered daily.
I am very close friends with a Portuguese family from Lisbon. They have children which are the first generation native born US Citizens . They told me about having a home where the front door could possibly be opened into the roadway . I later saw pictures of it and the old buildings and roadways were beautiful and every time they cook and invite me the food and family are amazing. I myself am second generation Hungarian immigrant family and know where my family came to the US with empty pockets but a head filled with dreams and we achieved all of those dreams and more!!! Now I get to see their family come as immigrants with nothing to their name and no money to a large beautiful family of very successful and happy people with grandchildren. With hard work, dedication, and the right mindset one can still achieve the "American Dream"
Andre, one month is not long enough to see America. There are so many things to see and places to visit. And sooo much food to try! I am 67 and born in Ohio. I haven't seen 1/4 of our great country. I have so many places on my bucket list but alas, I will not be able to see them. Do your research and make a plan. Don't get discouraged if you can't do it all. Just come back and start where you left off. Thanks for the video! 😊✌🇺🇸🇵🇹
1 month is a good visit as long as you plan your trip out in advanced and know what you are looking to experience while here and know where you will find such things. Pick a state with a few things to visit/do and spend a week there then travel to the next.. What time of the year you visit counts a LOT as well most of our states have solid Seasons so, seasonal experiences can only be had at specific seasons.
@@bad-people6510 Well, that is why you focus on what experiences you most want to have and cut it down to at least one life time to do it all in. There are parts of America what I have NO want to go visit (mostly large cities where I do not feel comfy walking around in and make me feel physically ill when I do have to be in one for long) but, many parts that I would still love to visit or revisit in my life time.
Education cost will depend on what type of schooling one chooses. Community college costs less than University. It cost me 15,000 for nursing school. As for guns, I disagree that more criminals have guns. I believe most gun owners are responsible and honest. Many people hunt for their food.
I live in Missouri and grew up in rural Kansas. Rural America!! VERY few people hunt their food. 99% of the people I know who own guns have guns for sport. They go to shooting range or in field close to home. PERHAPS sports hunting. Most people have guns believe they are protecting their homes/family or just like to act out their cowboy fantasy.
Her rant about "unnecessary things" is absurd. Nobody is forced to buy anything they consider unnecessary. I wonder if her mindset comes from growing up in a former Soviet Communist state, where unnecessary things were not available.
She doesn’t understand that the Scrub Daddy sponge can change from stiff to soft depending on if it’s hot water or cold. Her brain is just to smooth to know this. Before I use to have 2 sponges at my sink for pots/pans and dishes. I know have 1 sponge. 🤦🏻♀️
That's for sure. They don't understand the wants vs needs. Americans don't "need" big cars, why so many of us have big trucks, what do we "need" them for? We're past of what we "need", we can buy things we "want" too.
Right? I don't have a Scrub Daddy, but the fact they exist doesn't bother me. I can buy one if I want, but I don't have to. There are a lot of things that are available that I don't use. Not everything has to be for everybody. Such a weird take from her on that.
The sponge she was talking about is called a Scrub Daddy. Not only does it have a smiley face on it that does genuinely help with grip, it's made from a different material that softens in warm water and stiffens in cold water. It's not just a sponge, and it is actually a great product.
And the holes aren’t for your fingers it’s for handles of wooden spoons, spatulas etc. and the mouth is for large spoons etc so that you clean both sides at once. Not to mention…. They really are fantastic sponges.
Yeah as I understand it the hardness changing feature is the main selling point, and the smiley face is just in addition to that, but even if it really was just a regular sponge shaped like a smiley face, what's so wrong with wanting a cute/goofy looking sponge?
And not all guns are allowed in all states…. Probably the most archaic thing is the 2nd Amendment. Needs to be done away with, since it keeps getting taken out of context. It’s irrelevant in 2025
That was actually overturned in the last few years. All states are now "shall-issue" states for carry permits. It can be hard to get through the process but it is legal everywhere now, save for some places like NYC.
@@Tilt_TMit's legal to conceal carry in NYC but because it's banned in parks and public transport you just don't carry in NYC because you will be illegally carrying at some point. In my NY 18 hour concealed carry course they showed the regulations in NYC but we were told to just not do it by our instructors for our own legal protection, so we don't become felons and lose our guns.
Nope. Every state now allows it. Some states it is only for residents, but every state has a concealed carry permit they must issue if you pass the test.
The easiest way to understand United States is that the states voluntarily chose to form a union of states by adopting the Constitution. Each state had to surrender some, but not all, of their sovereign power to enable the union to function as a federal government. The Constitution describes structure, organization, duties, and powers of the federal government. The Bill of Rights prevents the federal government from abusing their powers by describing that which the federal government may NOT do.
The states never "surrendered" their sovereignty to a central authority; the Constitution, as amended, clearly states that powers were DELEGATED to the United States authority. Such a distinction was also made very clearly in the ratifying conventions.
1) Education can be expensive here, but there are plenty of community colleges available that are MUCH cheaper than most universities. 2) Guns - almost everyone can own a gun here. The few exceptions are obvious - convicted violent felons, nut cases, etc. 3) Gun violence - most of the gun violence takes places in bad areas of large cities. The safest places are the areas with the fewest gun restrictions because you never really know who is carrying one. 4) Public transportation - you already know the US is quite large. It's not cost effective to provide public transportation to sparsely populated areas. Cars give us freedom to go where we want, when we want without waiting. 5) Taxes - some states tax the crap out of everything, others do not. 6) Bread - she's generally correct about store bought bread here, but what is stopping her from baking her own at home? Heck, I bought a bread machine and all I have to do is put in the ingredients, set the timer, and loaves come out perfect every time. 6) "Useless things" - If something is "useless", don't buy it. Seems simple to me.
This whole public transport thing makes me so angry. Our country does have public transport in cities where it's feasible and actually works. I live in Southwest Oklahoma. We have 15 mile towns here (back when the west was settled, the towns were roughly 15 miles apart, so you could travel by wagon into town and back home in one day) and there is no way public transport would work in this entire part of the country. I'm not about to walk 4 miles to my closest town (on a gravel road), catch a bus, ride into a larger town that's 40 minutes away to shop, catch a bus back to my town with multiple 50lb bags of animal feed and my household groceries in tow and then lug that sh!t 4 miles down a gravel road to my house. The major cities that have public transport are doing a good job, and the rest of us need to be left alone about it.
There are a ton of cities that definitely need major public transportation improvements, and a lot of places still have the "1 more lane" mindset which doesn't work. I live in the Orlando area, and we definitely need public transportation, and we need to redo our zoning laws and regulations. Tampa is another one. But yeah, having EVERYWHERE accessible by public transportation or a short walk or bike ride in the U.S the way it is in France or Switzerland or England is not possible.
California is large and spread out. We had a great public transportation system but when they car came along it was ripped out! LOL Now it takes you forever to get somewhere on a bus. The trains and trolleys are better, but unless the bus is an express but to a specific location, it will take you hours to get where you want to get.
Most European countries do almost daily shopping for food. Little shops close to their homes. Here we buy daily, weekly or monthly groceries at a time. Different lifestyle.
Not as many from Portugal living here, but the Brazilian influence is strong, and Portuguese influences are spread out throughout the u.s.a. so teaching Portuguese can be a successful job opportunity or as a translator.
Why would you spend billions of dollars on public transportation for rural areas ? Its in heavily populated areas to take the strain off the road system and to move the masses faster .
Do have buses that travel across states but, not general public transport just to take you an hour out of the city and back. If you do not drive you do need to live closer to the city. However, most rural areas do have small shopping centers not far away from main developments of housing. Lil strip malls with like a IHOP, family dining, grocery store, fast food shops and maybe a home shopping store(or a Walmart) and for some reason a craft store. lol.
@@donaldstewart8342 right because they’re often unsafe themselves or at least grossly unpleasant. I’ve ridden MARTA here in Atlanta when I was a contractor at a place that would not give contractors parking stickers. I’d rather spend two hours stuck in traffic in my own car than a half hour on MARTA.
Seems like a good compromise would be to have one bus that makes circuits between rural and city areas. No need for multiple vehicles like what's in the cities themselves, but would be good for elderly, disabled, and impoverished that can't drive or can't afford to drive to still reach things like doctor visits and employment.
What people ignore is the fact that pantyhose is used more often in crimes of all kinds. Shall we ban pantyhose? Some people are criminal types. Thankfully, most people are not. ❤
@@lauralowery9303 Exactly! Most people are NOT. With nearly 400 million guns in civilian circulation if most people were violent, believe me, you WOULD know😂
I used to have a pencil that made a lot of spelling mistakes; I had to get rid of it. Now I don't use pencils and am active in a group working to improve spelling by banning pencils. 🤔😠🤣
There are both public and private schools for all levels of education in the US. What many people see as a problem is that public schools are funded by local taxes, so poor areas have low quality schools with crowded classes and higher income areas have top quality public schools.
Depends on the local laws. Our schools move funds from wealthy area schools to poor ones. What I find weird is this is in a red state and the blue states mostly don't. I would think it would be the other way around?
A lot of people compare the US to Europe and say "Americans work too much", but a lot of people also compare the US to Asia and say "Americans don't work enough". Seems like it's fine to me, of course working less or not at all would be preferred by most people, but I have no trouble at all finding time to do recreational stuff working 40 hours a week.
There is federal minimum wage but states can have their own as long as it is not lower than the federal minimum wage. Currently the federal minimum wage is $7.75/hour.
In California you have to pay a fast food worker $20 an hour. Mind you, you can pay a hardworking Certified Nursing Assistant much less even though they do a skilled job.
Ok the sponge daddy is amazing!!! You can clean spoons easily in the mouth part. You can put your fingers in the eye holes to move it in a circle to clean inside drinking glasses. If you run it under cold water the sponge gets a harder texture to help scrub pots. Run under warm water to get a less firm sponge. It also is antibacterial. Besides it’s not like they cost a fortune they are around $5 and last for ages. I see a lot of people complain about how many options we have various items and foods. I don’t get it because it’s nice to have that many options. If you think there’s too many unnecessary things for sale then just don’t buy them. Yes, rent a car! Ok she really doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Yes, it’s our constitutional right to own a gun. Every country in the world has an area that is dangerous to be in. She keeps saying things are scary or confusing. But what she’s talking about is neither scary or confusing. There are so many types of bread in America. If you don’t like the white bread, just buy a different one. As for guns. She’s going to be wishing she has one if Russia ever decides to invade.
You can own a gun in any state, but there are more laws in certain states. The "bad places" are the "gun free zones" where only the criminals own guns because those states or cities have restricted gun ownership so much that the average citizen doesn't own them. So only the people that don't care about laws and are more likely to use them to break laws have them.
The price of the item on the shelf may be the same price across the nation. However, taxes in each state are different, add in the various counties may have a tax and the city may have a tax. But we know about what the starting cost is. Taxes some are based on a proposition approved by citizens for something like infrastructure for a dam, road, pier, rebuild after earthquake or flood or an added tax to approved for a new park the county asked the citizens if they want a tax to be added to build the park.
I can't say I know them all that well personally, but as a window washer in California I clean houses for immigrants from all over the world. Some customers of mine have come from Iran, Korea, England, Scotland, Norway, Germany, Italy, Australia, Russia, China, Japan, Spain, and Portugal. and some others. Most of my customers are born in America , but It's always fun meeting people from other countries, getting an outer perspective is beneficial, I think. That's why I love your channel.
She should do more research. There is more regulation on gun ownership in Chicago but they have more gun violence versus areas that have fewer regulations
It is legal to own a gun in all states but many local governments make it as difficult as possible. Chicago for example has some of the most restrictive gun laws and the Worst gun violence. if a law-abiding citizen can't obtain a gun legally Only the criminals will have guns and the civilians will be helpless.
Sammy how about no gun nut culture! How about relying on police when ur in public leave the guns at home! I've 2x been assaulted by gun nuts midday safe neighborhood! The gun nut mentality is the problem! With more than one gun nut shooting at one perp this endangers society! Cuz bullet spray is uncontrollable! Places like Chicago maybe safer than Florida where any unstable person can carry a gun! Hooray for states with strict gun control! Gun advocates just like feminists never mention how killing someone even if ur in the right can cause lifelong trauma! So be thankful for gun control!
There's plain old "sliced sandwich bread" that many people buy, but many times the stores have their own bakeries as well where you can buy fresh bakery bread. French. Italian. Sourdough.
The average home price in California is 900k. The average home price in Mississippi is 170k. A federal minimum wage is stupid. Each state needs to set its own minimum wage.
States, counties and even cities are able to and often do set their own minimum wage rates. The federal is just supposed to be what no state can go under. Although, many companies like finding loopholes to pay employees less.
@Draconightfury I travel all over America for work. NO ONE is hiring at $7.25. Even in the poorest state of Mississippi i see signs starting at $10 plus. The federal minimum wage should not exist
No, lol, there absolutely needs to be a minimum. It's perfectly fine for states to increase,, but the federal minimum wage should have COL adjustments. The baseline that states make their adjustments according to needs to be accurate.
The real minimum wage is zero. The statute minimum wage can be set at whatever level, but if prices you out of the job market, you're not getting hired.
Fall River, and New Bedford, Massachusetts have the largest Portuguese communities in America (about 100,000 people between the two). I have a friend who lives there (Fall River) and is of Portuguese descent.
Public transit depends on where you live. That's like saying transit is bad in the UK because the bus system on Shetland (off the north coast of Scotland) isn't London. I live in Seattle (Washington state) and have lived here nearly 8 years without a car. I sold it when I moved here because the transit is so good. Is it as good as large cities in Europe or even Chicago or NYC? No. But it's really good for the US. Sounds like she is in Florida... depends where... but I found the transit in Miami and Miami Beach really good (free in some cases, even)... and they have "high-speed" trains that go from Miami to Orlando... I took it and felt like I was back on a train in Norway! If you are coming for a visit and want to go further afield than the core city, you'll probably want a car. If you were to come to NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco, you could visit each without a car and fly between them (or take the train if you're taking a whole month here). Texas you'll want a car. Roadtripping and you'll need a car (obviously).
You can start teaching Portuguese from your home. There are a lot of homeschoolers and even adults that take classes languages online. I'd use TPT, a homeschool, or language website.
My best friends family are all Portuguese. Horta Azores, Lisbon. My niece’s Mom is Portuguese and her whole family is from Portugal. Where I’m from in California there were many Portuguese and Portuguese churches.
@@lindarice4695 I guess that depends on how you define an emergency. If you've got an ax sticking out of your skull with blood spurting out, yes they will get you stable and send you a bill. If you have a lump under your arm and you don't know if it's cancer, with no insurance, they will tell you "Good luck!"
Scrub Daddy sponges are great. (That is what you described). Hard when they are dry to scrape off stuck on food. When it’s wet you can then finish washing the dishes. I have never put my fingers in the holes.😊
Even if you are getting off work at 5pm, walking or finding some way to the grocery store, buying the food for the night and next day . . . Every day. The. Using Saturday to bring the family to get the large items like 10lbs of Potatoes, cat food, or all the things that come in size large, or cheaper by the dozen!
We have the highest concentration of Portuguese communities here in the North East, as well as California. New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut (where I’m from). My daughter’s step mother is Portugese, and she’s been working on learning the language! 😊
Okay the pay in New York (State) is different from the pay in Oklahoma. Or San Francisco, California taxes are different to Rapid City, South Dakota which has no State Taxes. Or Cities have better pay than Rural towns, but rent is different between the two.
Pay in my Oklahoma small town sucks... but my property insurance is only $300/year!!! A state is going to get their money one way or another. I'd rather have lower paying but enjoy low property taxes, very low real-estate prices, lower energy prices, no state vehicle inspections!!!
"Bad Bread" lol this is trivial and stupid. WHAT bread?? You can get any type of bread you want from a thousand bakeries from everywhere. Do you want cheap bread, middle quality bread, top quality bread? Different flavors, different styles, i mean WTF is she even talking about lol. It's like complaining about bad eating utensils, as if we only have one type and quality.
There are even Junior Colleges here for free. If you want to go to a private higher rated college with expensive professors of course it cost more. We have limited public transportation because most people live outside of the city in suburban houses and there would be no way to have public transportation to cover that much open territory in a country this large. There is public transportation in big city where everyone live in Highrise buildings, but most of those are lower income places.
@@arich9326They were built 120 hundreds ago for NY and 80 years ago for Chicago before cars were either invented or widely used. Hard pass thank you.
Every state has their own gun laws. The 2nd Amendment prohibits the government from infringing on the right to bear arms since a well regulated militia is necessary for a free state
The 2A was written in lieu of a standing US Military. Now that we have the US Military, we should not have the 2A. Armed citizens are not defending the state these days. The National Gaurd is the defense of the free state.
I really enjoy your take on my country, America, things you point out remind me of why I love living here. I travelled around the world quite a bit in my life but I will live here till I die, I hope. Thank you for your efforts, they are well received.
Besides collage there are “trade schools” shorter 1-2 yrs much cheaper for plumbing, carpentry, heating and cooling, electricians. “Blue collar workers “ we call them.
Exactly. The larger towns from me are 60 miles away with each having a population of under 10,000. The nearest city is over 150 miles away. Although we still have a bus (singular) that goes to the city once a day, although even then it's about a 20 minute drive to catch it.
It’s hard to watch this video… This young woman doesn’t know enough about America or Americans to have an educated opinion on these subjects. Everything in America is so dependent on where exactly you live and your lifestyle. and Americans do not want their government to take care of them from cradle to grave. We work hard because we want a better life for ourselves and we have the opportunity to have as much as we’re willing to work for. Some people don’t work much. Some people work a lot. She just doesn’t understand. The way you choose to live makes a big difference. Each of those topics she raises could be an hour long conversation with many different inputs and results. It was super frustrating listening to her! She is so wrong on so many counts. And yes, you are right, guns are legal in all states. It is a constitutional right for Americans to own a gun.

If you have good insurance the cost isn’t that bad. I have a bad heart and have to have surgeries every 5 years or so. My last bill for hospital surgery and stay before insurance was $100k. After insurance we paid $1500. That’s our out of pocket cap. Once we hit that expense every medical bill after we pay zero dollars.
I'm curious: How much do your insurance premiums cost? I am retired from a fortune 500 company. The company doesn't subsidize retirees premiums, they just let you stay on the policy. This year my premiums are $1104/month. That is $13,255/year. I had a stent put in my heart (out patient, no hospital stay). It cost me $1300+ prepay. The hospital bill alone was $160k. Then had to pay the remainder of what the insurance didn't pay or get a write off for. That didn't include what the Dr and other services charged. The out of pocket cap is $4400+/- for family.
I grew up in Rhode Island and am of Italian heritage and have several friends who are of Portuguese descent. I worked with two brothers who moved here from Portugal. Also ... "being legal to have a gun is really silly" tells you she's not bright at all and has never done any research.
I think $65k was my high school tuition per year. No idea what it was at my elementary/middle schools or when I went to college. I got my MA in Japan so it was a bit different than the tuition I had at CU Boulder.
As someone currently in college studying a B.S. in Computer Engineering, I can tell you that I have not paid $85,000 per year for my degree. My education has cost $37,000 (3/4 years completed). It all depends on where you go to school. My university is not the best in the country but the median base salary for students from my university with my degree is $97,000. I’m not sure where people are getting their numbers but those are mine.
Do I know any Portuguese people? That is a HILARIOUS question to me, Andre! Silva, Rita, Medieros, Santos, Sousa, and Pereira are all popular last names here on the island of Kauai, especially in the town of Kalaheo where I live! We live a quarter mile from a big family of Vegas. The ridge we live on was owned by Martin family of Madeira. Portuguese bean soup, Portuguese sausage, and a pastry called malasada are foods brought to our culture from Madeira, The Azores, and even Uruguay. From 2002 to 2008, Bryan Baptiste was Kauai’s mayor, succeeded by Bernard Carvalho, who was our mayor until 2018! In Hawaii, It’s often pronounced as Po-da-GEE. The Hawaiian word is Pukiki. Do I know any Portuguese people? 😂😂😂😂
I just looked up and the VAT in Georgia is 18% so there is $18 buried in the price of every $100 you spend. At least in the US, you know the government is adding on $10 to every $100 you spend. No one likes to pay taxes but with sales tax the money is out in the open instead of hidden.
I am retired and living in Georgia (not the US state) and life is pretty good here. Prices are low. Taxation is pretty minimal here. I have a friend who owns an apartment and is never taxed on it, after the initial cost. If I was living in most of the states right now I'd be living in poverty.
Yes, I know a lady from Marin County just outside of San Francisco who moved to Portugal recently to a suburb of Lisbon, not far from the airport. Wait a minute, those sponges are fantastic. The eyes and mouth are a gimmick, but it the best sponge I have ever used. University education… it is poor choices. People go and party and borrow tons of money… more than they need for school and then complain about the debt.
You've had these thoughts before. View the US as each state being a different country. This doesn't just apply to geography but EVERYTHING ELES as well. Culture, government, housing cost, wages, lifestyles... Every state has a different idea about these things.
The cost of basic procedures in the United States can vary depending on the type of procedure, the location, and whether you have insurance. As of the 1st of this year Washington State has the highest minimum wage at $16.66 but within city limits of Seattle it is $20.76. I retired 7 years ago it was 12.50 .
I've never met anyone from Portugal, but quite a few from Brazil. I think the impact of places like Italy and Germany goes way back to when the USA had a more open immigration policy in the mid-1900s.
Do NOT mess with our guns! Every State you have a right to own a gun. Some states make it really hard. You are correct. It's mostly criminals. They would get their weapons one way or another.
gun laws are different from state to state. the Democrate run states are heavy gun laws but also the most violrent. the republican states with less gun laws arent as violent. because everyone is armed people dont want to get shot doing crimes
Not really. Alaska, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Tennessee have some of the highest violent crime and murder rates in the country. New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and New Jersey have the lowest.
I lived in Massachusetts, my husband was born and raised there. Southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island have more Portuguese than Americans! Every business has signs in Portuguese, lots don't speak English!!
I’m in Las Vegas and I’m an insurance agent so yes we meet people from all over the country including Portugal. I remember the first time I met someone from Portugal. I thought it was in South America and they told me it was European but I was so shocked I didn’t know that’s pretty sad. And when they use the country Georgia, I’m from the state of Georgia so I always get that confused what they’re talking about and I have to figure it out. But yeah, the cities you mean a lot of different people from all over different countries that have come here here a lot times with families and instant families so you’ll get a lot of referrals that way
Of her critiques, some of them are true but some of them are not just false but total bullshit. For example, she says in paraphrase that transportation is good within any major city but not very good outside the city, but at the same time in the positives she says the country is vast. Well put 2 and 2 together, sweetheart. If the country is vast, people will need cars, and if everybody has a car, well then why dump piles of $$$ into a transportation system that very few people will be using and not very often??? There are a lot of critical items that are currently under reform/under construction in America. It is a tumultuous time, socially. Take Medicine, for example. She told the truth when she said the system is convoluted, complicated, and expensive BUT the medicine is top-tier. This has been the subject of ongoing political struggles and legislative efforts that have not yet been resolved. But while we work to fix that I would note that in the UK and European countries and Canada, you get put on long waiting lists for critical surgeries/procedures where in America, you're in for treatment like the next day or within a week. Yea everything is "free" in UK and Europe but not really because you're paying for it with taxes. So we have problems, and they have problems, but when we fix it here, we will ideally have EVERYTHING whereas in all other countries, their government bureaucracies will NEVER be fixed. Socialism is like the monkey who puts his hand in the jar to get the banana but then can't get his hand back out again; getting into Socialism is easy, but getting back out will be war.
Public schools are free to tend but you still have to pay for sports outside of P.E. And school supplies like book bags and pencils, etc. and school lunch you have to pay for, unless you’re poor or you bring lunch from home. And sometimes the school might ask you for money for school bus trips. But the learning experience is free.
There are NO free colleges in the US. You may qualify for grants and scholarships in some cases to bring down the cost, dramatically in some cases, but none are free.
I am 66 years old, and growing up, one of my mom's closest friends was from Portugal. She married an American and moved here ( texas). Her cooking was amazing. She taught us a lot about her country. Of course, this was in the 70s. So as a child, I didn't retain a lot. I just know we loved Maria and her family. Her husband was military so they moved away before we did and lost touch. I loved to hear her speak in her language, mostly when she got excited of angry. Lol❤
You can be an interpreter, teach it in schools. I worked at chinese resturant and of the guys was from Portugal. He went on to be a fireman. He was a blast.
And gun laws. We have THOUSANDS of gun laws. Criminals are the only ones who don't follow them. Lol
"The vast majority of gun violence is criminal on criminal."
Source please.

In my usual neighborhood supermarket, you can get
French loaves,
baguettes,
croissants
Ciabatta
Naan
Bagels in several varieties
Sourdough
White sandwich bread (the insipid stuff you and many Europeans are thinking of)
Whole wheat sandwich bread
Honey whole wheat bread
Sprouted wheat bread
White whole wheat bread (made from a variety of colorless wheat)
Split top bread, white or whole wheat
Hawaiian rolls
Oat bread
English muffins in several varieties
Bolillos
7-grain bread
12-grain bread
Ancient grains bread
Whole wheat bread with walnuts
Bread with seeds (sunflower, sesame, poppy, etc.)
Pumpernickel rye
Jewish rye
Challah
Tortillas, corn, wheat, and whole wheat
Cinnamon raisin bread
Gluten-free bread, several kinds
Sorry, I could only think of those "few" varieties of breads off the top of my head.
Very odd.
If he can't find sourdough, I'm sure someone here could coach him on getting a loaf going in his Portuguese pan
America is about Convenience and Choices.😁🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Options are a must! @@Sobergirl_
You can get any type of bread you want in most stores in the US.
I'm 73 years old, and I have lived in America my entire life. She has not been here long enough to criticize the way she has. Just because it isn't the same as the country she came from doesn't mean it's wrong
One common thought in American is if you don’t like it you can leave! Because we love our country!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸
I LOVE THE SCRUB DADDY SPONGES! Someone send some to Andre.
at my supermarket there are 37 different types of bread in the bread isle you can find one you like
And more, if the store happens to have an in-store bakery.
"isle" LOL

You can buy excellent bread here. Don’t buy Wonder bread; go to a good bakery. Most grocery stores have excellent bread baked on-site or delivered daily.
Right! Don't buy the bread from the 'bread' section. Go to the store bakery or deli.
Most crime occurs in highly populated areas. Here in the rural West, where the majority of people are armed, it's relatively crime-free.
Just do it legal.
😊✌🇺🇸🇵🇹
Facts. I'm 51 and still working on the Eastern states. Lol
Pick 2-3 states for a month and do a road trip.
One lifetime's not enough to see America, what are you going to do?
@@jnmsks6052Very well said. 😎
Agreed. A Lexus is unneccessary, you can drive a Corolla, but I sure would like to have one.
I didn’t know that, now I need one
They are great for cleaning non-stick cookware that you don't want to scratch up. They are available at Walmart, Target, and Amazon.
The holes are not for fingers
I spent 7 years in the service, and a large portion of my college tuition was paid for by the GI bill.

Guns are allowed to be owned in all states. Not all states are allowed to carry a gun out in public.
And not all guns are allowed in all states…. Probably the most archaic thing is the 2nd Amendment. Needs to be done away with, since it keeps getting taken out of context. It’s irrelevant in 2025
We are up to 26 states that have constitutional carry. Its very nice. I feel so safe against attack being armed always.
I know some states do, but most you DON'T PAY TAXES on food items at the store.
If my train is more than five minutes late the official JR app gives me proof of the delay in case I need to show it to my employer.
In rural Nevada, it's generally 75 miles between rural towns. And many of those are only population of 1,000 or so. Public transportation 😂😂😂
Yes you can be a translator here!
Why would you spend billions of dollars on public transportation for rural areas ? Its in heavily populated areas to take the strain off the road system and to move the masses faster .
Right,I live in a big city and hardly anyone rides public transportation
One of the big lobbyists that was trying to force people to use public transportation in New York was recently attacked on the subway.
Seems like a good compromise would be to have one bus that makes circuits between rural and city areas. No need for multiple vehicles like what's in the cities themselves, but would be good for elderly, disabled, and impoverished that can't drive or can't afford to drive to still reach things like doctor visits and employment.

There are both public and private schools for all levels of education in the US. What many people see as a problem is that public schools are funded by local taxes, so poor areas have low quality schools with crowded classes and higher income areas have top quality public schools.

Agree but basic schools in Africa offer better education than even well funded poor area schools in the usa
Also, state colleges used to be part of “public education” until Reagan.

A lot of people compare the US to Europe and say "Americans work too much", but a lot of people also compare the US to Asia and say "Americans don't work enough".
Th e supreme court has ruled that gun free zones do not exist constitutionally except where the government provides security, such as court houses.

A federal minimum wage is stupid. Each state needs to set its own minimum wage.
There shouldn't be a minimum... let the market decide

Try bringing home groceries for a large family on a bus or train!
I served in the military with men from Portugal and Brazil, even with a woman from Afghanistan. The military is full of diversity it's great.
Ummm NY and Chicago would not fit that rule.
@@arich9326They were built 120 hundreds ago for NY and 80 years ago for Chicago before cars were either invented or widely used. Today we have more cars then people available and no one has the patience to come and go on a schedule and to wait in areas where the homeless and nefarious occupy while you wait. Hard pass thank you.
Every state has their own gun laws. The 2nd Amendment prohibits the government from infringing on the right to bear arms since a well regulated militia is necessary for a free state
But some do anyway.
All *weapon laws are fundamentally unConstitutional.
The 2A was written in lieu of a standing US Military. Now that we have the US Military, we should not have the 2A. Armed citizens are not defending the state these days. The National Gaurd is the defense of the free state.
@@CrispyOkra not a single one does. Though they should

I really enjoy your take on my country, America, things you point out remind me of why I love living here. I travelled around the world quite a bit in my life but I will live here till I die, I hope. Thank you for your efforts, they are well received.
I'm 20% Portuguese! Our family came from Madeira in 1938 🥹🥰
Besides collage there are “trade schools” shorter 1-2 yrs much cheaper for plumbing, carpentry, heating and cooling, electricians. “Blue collar workers “ we call them.
And these professions pay well.
@ yes they do. More than gender studies.
Insurance is essential. Dr visits and meds are affordable if you have it.
public transportation only makes sense in large cities. If you live in a suburb you will need a car
Sounds like she described the US perfectly. Where did you disagree?
Cos as an American I say repeal the 2nd! The us gun nut culture is disgraceful unnecessary! I've been threatened by gun nuts twice in midday in a safe area! I'm also tired of a nation that's always placed profit above the quality of life! Bs Christianity! And over the top patriotism! Instead of love it or leave it why not love it or fix it? Her criticisms are from fresh eyes! Anytime there's the slightest bit of criticism why can't Americans admit to the problems others see! I give up! I've spent a lifetime as a political activist trying to change things for the better! This year I'll try harder to leave! I so dislike the a American character!
Cosay I also want the us to be a democratic socialist nation like Denmark. FDR LBJ! Why not have an easier life with lots of gov assistance! Like a national health care plan! This rugged individualism is bs! With lbjs war on poverty people got out of poverty! Infants got fed on the wics program! Food stamps alleviated hunger! Why would us people rather not be involved with gov programs that took care of people's basic needs! This criticism u made on this woman that people here don't want to rely on gov is nonsense! Those in power have always gotten richer off of the rest of us till now we've a representing oligarchy in gov power! Who are choking off opportunity for we the people! When trumps done with this country are u going to think everyone's a loser who want more assistance from gov!
@@oldfogey4679If you're incapable of going out into the big bad scary world and earning your keep then i can understand why you need daddy government holding your hand through life. The government has ALWAYS been the enemy of the people throughout history. I take care of myself and work hard because I enjoy it. Why should I have pay for people's healthcare that don't want to exercise, eat right or get off their lazy ass to contribute to society. Canada, all of South America, most of Europe and all of Scandinavia is already what you want. How does it make sense to change the only capitalist country in the world instead of just going to ANY of the places that already exist, Seriously?!? Make it make sense! Considering we're the only super power in the world I'd say it's been working out OK for us.

There is a federal minimum wage that a state cannot go lower than but a state can have a minimum wage that is greater than the federal minimum wage.
College can be expensive depending on what school you go to. There are many smaller schools that are very affordable.

I know two people from Portugal and the first time I heard them speak in their native tongue I was shocked how beautiful their language is. Very beautiful.
We have good bread (French bread, organic breads but they don’t last as long and they are more expensive) and sandwich bread. We have both.
They sell baguettes at any grocery store in the bakery section
America the beautiful 🇺🇸
Moved from the EU 40 or more years a go to Canada love it never looked back same for the states .
Much better than EU 🎉🎉🎉
Canda’s doing worse than the US 😂
I grew up in Rhode Island and am of Italian heritage and have several friends who are of Portuguese descent. I worked with two brothers who moved here from Portugal.
Also ... "being legal to have a gun is really silly" tells you she's not bright at all and has never done any research.
Public education is free up through high school. My college cost $65,000 total for a B.A.; it’s now $85,000 PER YEAR for a four-year degree.
My cousins are Fonsecas.
I just looked up and the VAT in Georgia is 18% so there is $18 buried in the price of every $100 you spend. At least in the US, you know the government is adding on $10 to every $100 you spend. No one likes to pay taxes but with sales tax the money is out in the open instead of hidden.
No Vat tax, there are State and Local taxes on most purchases not in the price like EU Vat tax.
Most of her family was born and raised in Portugal, she herself growing up in Marin County, USA. She travels frequently back to the U.S. enjoyes the best of both worlds. 🤓
My Swedish cousins retired and now spend most of the year in Portugal.
Wait a minute, those sponges are fantastic. The eyes and mouth are a gimmick, but it the best sponge I have ever used.
University education… it is poor choices. People go and party and borrow tons of money… more than they need for school and then complain about the debt.
There are Portuguese restaurants in many places in America. We are a melting pot.
You've had these thoughts before. View the US as each state being a different country. This doesn't just apply to geography but EVERYTHING ELES as well. Culture, government, housing cost, wages, lifestyles... Every state has a different idea about these things.
I've always had health insurance and the most ive paid out of pocket is 5 dollars

Routine blood work: Can cost between $300 and $650 or more
Lipid panels: Can cost between $130 and $200 at the lab, or $75 to $200 for a portable digital meter
Meniscus repair: The national average cost is $7,595, but costs vary across the country
Hospital stays: The national average cost per inpatient day is $3,025
There is a federal minimum wage but cities and states can mandate a higher one. A guy that works with me is from Portugal
Bread in America ranges from pure crap, to wonderful! You just have to go to the right store or bakery. My Mom's whole wheat bread was FABULOUS!
Many states have a minimum wage that is higher than the federal minimum wages it just can’t be lower than the federal minimum
As of the 1st of this year Washington State has the highest minimum wage at $16.66 but within city limits of Seattle it is $20.76. I retired 7 years ago it was 12.50 .
Today Florida has a new state record of highest snow totals ever recorded. With 10 inches of snow!
Thats crazy. Stay safe my friend.
I’m in Albany. It’s 9 o’clock in the evening and it’s still snowing here. We’re gonna probably get over a foot at least.
Yeah, I'm in the panhandle living through it. It's insane, we're literally snowed in for the next day or two until it melts off.
I dated a Portuguese man for about a year. I don’t currently know anyone from Portugal.
I've never met anyone from Portugal, but quite a few from Brazil. I think the impact of places like Italy and Germany goes way back to when the USA had a more open immigration policy in the mid-1900s.
Well, if she doesn't like guns she can go live somewhere else.
@@gotham61 New Hampshire is very gun friendly and has low crime, proves its not the guns
The sponge with the eyes and mouth is a Scrub Daddy and I for one swear by them. Serious game changer for scrubbing pots!

Lol❤
