Hoping things will change for content providers in the near future but I won't hold my breath. Just very thankful I started my journey while we could still get good unharnessed information. A huge amount was from your channel. Thanks for all your hard work! Blessings!
I watched this video when you originally released it, and now again watching it I think about how far my hubby and I have come. We have been working on our woodworking/crafting skills for making more utilitarian items - foot/step stools, bread boards, rugs, spice mixes, adding more garden beds, learning our states cottage laws to know what I can and cannot make in the kitchen to sell, etc... We have been taking our items to craft markets and learning what's out there and what's not, finding like minded people to socialize and get ideas with. We are close to being debt free, also. We have come such a long way, and I thank you Heidi for your inspiration. God Bless!
If everything collapses, bartering will be king. Learn what your time is worth, everyone can learn to do something. Start now if you haven’t already because you will build your confidence up for when you need it. Thanks Heidi, this was so helpful!! Shalom
Great video, thank you! You and Patrick are an inspiration to our younger family with your wisdom and smart choices. Thanks for sharing! We have been able to buy our land and build our house (with our own hands) by paying cash, and living frugally. We are hoping to be able to invest in a dump truck for starters soon. Really appreciate your channel!
Thank you Heidi! 🙂 I had to sweet talk and pet YT for the comment box again. Success! Great job with this video! 👍There's many possibilities for each person/situation to consider or something completely different! 🙂 It's areas like this where that little Creator spark can guide us. Innovation. Blessings! 💜
Being in my mid-60s, I no longer have nearly the strength I used to (used to lift & carry 180 pounds, so still doing OK with most things), although I haven't been diagnosed with arthritis, my hands are more stiff than they used to be, so getting lids off glass jars is harder. Climbing ladders takes longer than it used to. I am MUCH more careful in winter not to slip & fall, because if I break something it will likely take longer to recover (and allopathic medicine considers partial recovery from a broken hip as "good enough" when you're older, because most older people don't get around as well anyway, so what's a little more "not as well" going to matter). I can no longer climb my large fruit trees to pick, and although I have a fruit picker, I've also injured both shoulders, so that becomes problematic too. And pretty much everything requiring physical labor takes longer than it used to.
@@kleineroteHex Great attitude! I'm probably better off lifting heavy stuff than skipping...bone spur on one heel, prone to Plantar Fasciitis, Haglund's deformity on other heel...just not a good idea to 'pound' when my feet land. Doesn't stop me from walking 20-25 miles/week though!
Digital *can* "Go Down", when EMP's hit, Grid Down, Bank Collapse, CEO's/Owners are Snuffed or Jailed, etc. IF you can not Reach Digital Funds? What then? *something to think upon, for those heading in that direction* I can Trade for Services with Foods, Herbals, Etc. I cannot Trade with Digital.
I agree. I try to live by the principle, be in the world and not of it. We have substantial life savings and I fully anticipate all of it going poof in a cloud of smoke. It will certainly sting but won't break my spirit. I've got barter and trade on my mind with supplies to increase what I think may be good items to have. I'm just wondering how other folks will fare if suddenly the economy collapses?
3 years ago we got out of the city and moved to a remote community. Learn who your neighbors are and who may be helpful and who may be a problem. Every day, I think about how to do things without having power. I invest in a lot of hand operated tools as I identify a task I could do by hand. I do have a propane generator. Not gonna invest in solar. The way I figure is, eventually, all those power things will wear or break and you won't be able to replace them. So my focus is on researching ways to do things without power. Times are gonna get tough, and folks need to be tougher. It's gonna require you expend so much more energy to do a task but, the up side is, you will get healthier.
Hopefully in the next month I'll be closing on a shy 1/4 acre (currently on a 1/8 acre lot, about half of that plantable). I plan to grow nuts & more fruit, but also herbs that I can either barter with like-minded people (medicinal) or sell locally as a high value crop (culinary). It remains to be seen if I'll be able to find a place I can afford, and manage on my own, that will allow me to live out of town. The tangible items I've invested in so far are fruit trees, berry bushes, herbs, veg seeds (now I save my own), canning jars/lids/rings, dehydrators, manual vacuum sealer, shelving to hold my 'stash', solar oven...the small items that I could easily afford. If I can possibly swing it, I'd like to invest in at least a small solar setup, and a wood stove (regulated by law, heavily regulated by insurance companies, and I don't think I'll ever be able to set enough aside to replace a house should the need arise, so I don't think skipping homeowners insurance is an option).
Can you turn old clothes into quilts? Or sew new clothes? Can you spin thread into yarn or thicker threads to weave, knit, crochet? These are a few things that people don't realize that others have need for.
One of my favorite things to do with old jeans is make quilts and we have a lot of denim quilts here as a result. I have even used a blend of old flannel shirts and jeans to make a quilt, It not only looked really nice, it was warm for sure

I thought it was probably revised because I noticed only one Cosori.
@@sandrad518 Right, which was one reason I wanted to point that out as I thought that may confuse people, haha
Great information all the time! You are much appreciated! Thanks! 👍❤
I see you have a fence post digger there. I have had several. Unfortunately, the post holes are never put in the right places.😅
Thank you for your continued encouragement to grown in our preparedness.

Much more so than stashing gold or silver.
No one is going to be taking silver when there are so many other things they find essential.

The new place for off grid will be so cool!
sorry you have to go to all this extra work to be in compliance but all good advice - thanks

Thank you Heidi, all great advice! 😊
We spent $7,300.00 on a house generator. We have a gas well on our property so we have free gas to run it if the grid goes down.
Nice
Good morning from Ms. Thank God for you!

I enjoy doing things a bit slower now and telling myself "as long as I can skip down the sidewalk I have no need to lift really heavy stuff" 😃

Hi Heidi 👋🏻
I'd hate to thank my bunch would have to go off grid, but we can do it, if we had to.

Clear search history, why 😎 I do clear single items, at times when I think of it.
What about medical supplies.
