rewatching this video gave me chills especially the lines: "And don't forget it is I, who is by your side" -before the chapters of the 160s came out I thought it was Ruby reassuring her brother she's here with him through the grief. But after it came out, I realized it was Akane, bc she's literally her willing accomplice he didn't ask for. "Now I forgot about the person I was" -He's doing his revenge as Gorou Amamiya but he didn't realize he's now Aquamarine Hoshino a traumatized teenager who just wants to live in peace. *𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀* -I imagined the final performance at the dome, while B-komachi is happily performing. "That you desire, all that you require" -Aqua laying back while he's sinking (like in the S1 ED scene) accepting his fate "Just to see your face once more, is what I'm wishing on a star for" - Aqua sees a light, he tries to grab it but he realize his death was near and slowly closes his eyes while he dies with a smile. "Oh, children from the stars above, rest and go to sleep peacefully The radiance from both your love, it will never dim easily" -Aqua's casket is open while the people he was close was mourning him "Oh, children from the stars above, will you aim your sights to the sky" -Aqua opens his eyes while he sees Ai while he's resting on his lap, while knowing he is now safe with his mother. "They'll never blink and interrupt, it's your destiny to both shine" -Ruby being heartbroken again, crying while holding a microphone, but she sees to bright stars shinning in the night sky.
The singing is nice, but what I'm mostly impressed by is the translation. Getting the lyrics to keep the meaning of the original song and still stay compact enough it doesn't feel like you're trying to channel Eminem to finish them before the end of the note is *so* difficult and you did it really well. It's really rare to see a translated song and go "Yeah, those lyrics feel like they could stand on their own" without going "...Hm yeah that sure as hell is a translated song huh" but the translation was really good here. I imagine the first couple lines were the hardest ones to translate and not make too wordy. "Out on the stage, yeah that's where I belong / I will yearn, I will pray to make it my throne" is so, so good. Songwriting is hard by itself, but getting it done within the constraints of an original meaning and without being able to change the song structure is so, so annoying...which is why I'm super impressed with the lyrics. What I'm trying to say is - really well done!
Honestly thank you for typing this all out btw. It's a little bit of extra effort I put into my translyrics to make them sound good enough to stand on their own but also retain that original meaning. It's a challenge sometimes, but it's something I'm willing to take. There's usually a negative consensus around English covers but I'm determined to be one of the people that can help change people's minds, so seeing someone help put my efforts into words really means a lot. Ok so I've been stewing on this cover for a few minutes now. I love your lyric choice but I was really stumped on "It is I, who is by your side." I was thinking that the line felt really off, as who exactly is Aqua referring to here? It could be talking about Ruby since they have an obvious connection, but that feels wrong since 90% of this song is about Aqua's grief over Ai. Then I thought about it more and said the line out loud, and it suddenly clicked. It's a double meaning. It refers to Aqua being by Ruby's, and arguably every major characters side, as Aqua has always proven to be there for someone when they need it. But it also has the play on words of "It is 'Ai' who is by your side." Meaning that Ai's spirit is still with them and watching over them. Extremely fitting tonally, especially with the final verse of "children of the stars" which seems implied to be from Ai's perspective. I'm not sure what's different from your original cover, I unfortunately didn't get to hear it. But this cover is genuinely phenomenal. Your delivery, lyric choice, and ability to adapt the lines so seamlessly from japanese to english without altering the meaning of the song is fantastic. Definitely the best version of this song I've seen so far. I always love these japanese songs but struggle to fully connect with them until I can understand the intention in english and deepen my understanding. So thank you for bringing one of my favorite songs to life.

Ok so I've been stewing on this cover for a few minutes now. I love your lyric choice but I was really stumped on "It is I, who is by your side." I was thinking that the line felt really off, as who exactly is Aqua referring to here? It could be talking about Ruby since they have an obvious connection, but that feels wrong since 90% of this song is about Aqua's grief over Ai. Then I thought about it more and said the line out loud, and it suddenly clicked. It's a double meaning. It refers to Aqua being by Ruby's, and arguably every major characters side, as Aqua has always proven to be there for someone when they need it. But it also has the play on words of "It is 'Ai' who is by your side." Meaning that Ai's spirit is still with them and watching over them. Extremely fitting tonally, especially with the final verse of "children of the stars" which seems implied to be from Ai's perspective.
I'm not sure what's different from your original cover, I unfortunately didn't get to hear it. But this cover is genuinely phenomenal. Your delivery, lyric choice, and ability to adapt the lines so seamlessly from japanese to english without altering the meaning of the song is fantastic. Definitely the best version of this song I've seen so far. I always love these japanese songs but struggle to fully connect with them until I can understand the intention in english and deepen my understanding. So thank you for bringing one of my favorite songs to life.

few years back when believer first came out, i tried singing it. when i got to the "pain" part, the only pain was in my heart cuz i couldnt get it. then i had my voice crack and reform, now i can sing "pain" without pain.
