SPOILER WARNING!!! IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE SPOILED, DO NOT CLICK MORE "IDOL" is the saddest part of Oshi no Ko for me. The lyrics are just a message from Ai to not only Ruby and Aqua but to all of her fans because she never knew what love was like until seconds before her death. The song is like her life, lying all throughout but then at the end, Ai finally realises what love was and said it truthfully to her kids one last time before she died.

@@redlotus1353 I know?? the official English version is pretty flawed compared to the original in its lyrical setting and a lot of other things though :) capturing the exact same feeling in a new language is a skill that takes practice and im complimenting her work for this song .
@@redlotus1353 Wydm no translation is needed? When trying to match the song with the beat/rhythm it needs to work or at least give a similar vibe. Words can be interpreted in other ways and more specific way of calling things with terms that CAN mean the same but can give a different vibe/meaning to it when said in a certain way. Its like if American jokes were translated to Japanese, you think Japanese people would understand the joke from American humor just because it was translated the SAME EXACT way? No it doesn't. That's why she tweaked the lyrics for more so of her style but still giving the song the IDOL point of the feeling when you listen to the Japanese one. A good example of trying to Translate Japanese to English but forn those that are Western English speakers saying the words which she sings "acting like she's the shit" which if you were to translate this back to Japanese this would not translate well if its WORD for WORD from their understanding.
@@EnhancedTrashBin I think redlotus was meaning that Yoasobi, who sung the original (Japanese lyrics) song also released her own English version of the song, which is why Amalee wouldn't have needed to translate the song as there were official English lyrics already available. But emerakii pointed out why this wasn't entirely true.
This cover is amazing. A lot of covers on this song are, but this one just stands out. The lyrics are still accurate, but the lines are so unique yet they work so well--- For example, the line: "Like a lion in the ring" is just so unique but it works so well. I could mention many more, but there are just too many things about this that are just amazing.

The dark part (aka the part where people talk badly of her) is the only time where i heard the english version of the song done with the same energy and vibe. Good job
She is genuinely an singing genius. Idol is a very difficult song to translate. Yoasobi has an English version, but naturally some of the lines may come across as dry opposed to the original because English is not their first language and Japanese is so polar to it. But AmaLee has done a wonderful carrying out a proper English rendition.
Another spectacular cover from our Queen! 2:48 The note she hits at Greedy Idol goes so hard! Ama and the team slammed it out of the park with Oshi no Ko - IDOL, and I will be having it play on loop for the foreseeable future. I can't get enough! 😃💜
When that song was released, one of the first things that came to my mind was "geez I can't wait for Amalee to make a cover of this" AND HELL YEAH BABY SHE DID! I really can't handle how perfect your covers are, all just like the original but also with a light touch of "Amalee". This one is no different, of course. The energy, the lyrics, THE VIDEO. Everything is amazing as always! I love it
Bravo! Another work of art, as per the norm with you. It’s a shame they didn’t choose you for Ai’s English VA. Pretty nice creative spins on the official English version.
Is it normal to find something so high energy so absolutely Haunting? This goes way past translation into one of the best localizations I've ever heard.
this slaps, i normally don't like translated songs, but your covers always hit that sweet spot where it preserves the original, but you can still notice your own thing (apart from the different language of course)
THIS WAS SO GOOOOOOOOD!!! Amalee's rendition of the lyrics and the vocals is spot-on! This songs so rapid-fire it gets crazy! But she knocked it outta the park!!!
You did such a fantastic job translating this song into English! No offense to Yoasobi / Ayase, but every word, vowel, and consonant hits just as hard as the original Japanese version!
As someone who's listening to this song on Spotify while waiting for the video to drop, i can confirm that it is, in fact, the best female cover of this song ever. Amazing lyrics, hits yoasobi's unique tone that has ruined so many covers PERFECTLY, while all the while sounding like Ama. This just slaps, man. Keep it up, and please release more kaguya sama openings soon.........maybe?

I love how the lyrics keep the tone and original message with a different (I’d say better) flow to them, all while the spirit of the song remains perfectly preserved! I love it!
I really like the piano in this song, it plays as though it’s a back up singer. It doesn’t just follow Amalee but also sings the song itself in it’s own style. The piano sounds like it’s alive and i believe it adds something special to the parts of the song in which the piano is more prominent. (Sorry if I sound like a nerd lol)
I've been an amalee fan since her first Crossing Field cover many years ago, and she just keeps killing it! This is some of her best work yet. Good job Ama!
This is an INCREDIBLE English interpretation! I always think the best way to translate a song is not necessarily the exact translation, but to preserve the meaning. And you nailed it! The more you watch the show, read the manga, and learn about this song, the more you realize Yoasobi made the perfect opening for Oshi No Ko.
I don't remember ever loving so many versions of the same song.. I seriously just can't get enough. I got goosebumbs by the end of this version too, it's so good
I just watched the original music video with the volume off and I had your song was playing at same time. You always have a great singing voice but I never realized how amazing your talent was. Your words matched perfectly with the original. Thank you for all the songs you sing!
This is honestly the perfect english cover for this song. I've been thinking about trying to do some of my own english covers for songs that i really like and this would be the outcome that i'd want.
Once i heard this i remembered Oshy no ko and how much i cried after the first episode. Honestly it leaves a hole in my chest but its a very nice song thank you Ama.
So much has changed since first hearing of AmaLee’s brilliant work dating back to 2018. One day, she’s singing amazing English language OP songs of famous anime shows then becoming Marin of the English dub for My Dress Up Darling. Now onto Oshi no Ko! Brilliance!
I think your adaption of this in English really captures the essence of the original song so well. Yaosobi's original Japanese version is so good, but their English translation doesn't fit very well. You took it and ran with it. Not only through translation, but capturing the essence and feel of what the song was trying to evoke. Well done, an absolute amazing job. Thank you!
That's some unbelievable quality of a song! Cover or not - it's so hard to sing these lines so flawlessly with the perfect voice transitions. Truly an amazing work, that is a pleasure to listen to!
Amalee’s voice is perfect for this song. You killed it! If someone told me that this is Ai in the English dub I wouldn’t believe it only because it’s so good.

I have no idea what love is even like
Is it something you give, or is it something you find?
All the lies I tell, I hope that they come true
May they find their own light,
And be brought to life
I pray they will thrive
So gimme your applause, 'cause I will have it all
No it’s not enough, I’m such a greedy idol
How I wish to tell you from my lips
That you have my love, I promise you this
And so, I’ll lie again but know
I’m praying there's a way
They hold a little hope
That they will come true someday
And I’m sorry, it’s not fine
That I couldn’t say the things I meant to you
But it's now finally time
Ah, on the count of two
It’s no longer a lie
Let me say that it’s true, I love you
Thank you for taking the time to do this!
Ty
Nice!
Thanks
Thank you so much!! I was just praying for this comment!!
I'm so freaking obsessed, like genuinely my favorite Ama cover of all time, that's the grip this has on me. It just goes SO well with her singing style and voice. The translation hits so good, those last lines especially.
The fact that they made all that rhyme is insane, peak song writing
The Queen of cover herself has returned, Amalee is just so talented it blows my mind how every single cover by her is a BOP !
(1k?!!!!Mommmmm I’m famoussssss 😂)
leaves the crown of scuff and switches it to a crown of covers.
@@icarue993 Since day 1 she got ✨the crown of covers✨
So beautiful
Nah she really just went full delusional and said "hurr durr I relate to this song"
Omg agreed I just love the fact that every song makes me want to dance to all high heavens
Honestly, I loved the original song Oshi on Ko very much and I still listen to it a lot. And this version... is never less amazing than it. Really, all this waiting was worth it. Great job, AmeLee, you and everyone who helped make this song.
This was an absolute banger!! Even when it just premiered, I already knew that it was gonna be my favorite of all your anime covers as I can tell you put a lot of amazing vocals in this cover from what I've heard in that sneak peek we had a few weeks ago on twitter.
You're so talented, always bring to our faces and inspire us never let fear hold you back from the things we love, which is why you're my favorite song artist! This song will be even more inspiration to be confident with my singing voice as I feel so close to being able to do song covers again. Thank you so much for always being an amazing person and keep bringing smiles to everyone's faces! 🩵
If she were to sing this live as an idol...by gods all of us would be doing a choreography with those glowing sticks! Screaming AMA-LEE AMA-LEE
SPOILER WARNING!!! IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE SPOILED, DO NOT CLICK MORE
"IDOL" is the saddest part of Oshi no Ko for me. The lyrics are just a message from Ai to not only Ruby and Aqua but to all of her fans because she never knew what love was like until seconds before her death. The song is like her life, lying all throughout but then at the end, Ai finally realises what love was and said it truthfully to her kids one last time before she died.
Wheres the spoiler warning... why did you do this to me
SRRY
Amalee is back on her singing throne and she is killing it as always! Glad to have you back in your element and an amazing cover as always❤❤❤❤!
Hey dude
These lyrics are AMAZING, you captured the song SO perfectly I was stunned by the rap section especially !! And your vocals never miss AAAA, this is just so fire all around 😭❤🔥❤🔥
Sorry to pop ur castle but yaosobi have english version too so no translation is needed
I love this Eng ver so much because the cursing and the harsh words at 1:30 really encapsulates the hate and envy so well. My fav eng version!
these lyrics are way bette than the original English version
Such an awesome cover! The “On the count of two, it’s no longer a lie, let me say that it’s true, I love you” line made me ugly cry 😭😭
Fr?
hey im not ashamed to admit it lol it was a very emotional movie and that line really made a lot of sense once it was translated to english@@baconboy486
ME TOO MAN ME TOO, I FEEL SO BAD FOR AI 😢
The dark part (aka the part where people talk badly of her) is the only time where i heard the english version of the song done with the same energy and vibe. Good job
ur english version slaps🙏🙏 I didn’t expect the visuals and ur voice to be so ✨captivating ✨ and entertaining. wonderful work.
The lyrics in this song give me a strong sense of, "If you know, you know."
This is simply the best Idol cover I've ever heard, hats off to you, it's a real banger!
How does she hit that crescendo on 'Greedy Idol'?
Sweet as honey to the ears. Your range is insane.
I love it
自分は日本人だけどあなたの歌が本当に好きです!これからも無理せず頑張ってください!!
Let's just take a moment to appreciate the ANIMATION, IT'S GORGEOUS BY THE WAY
Bravo! Another work of art, as per the norm with you. It’s a shame they didn’t choose you for Ai’s English VA. Pretty nice creative spins on the official English version.
Is it normal to find something so high energy so absolutely Haunting? This goes way past translation into one of the best localizations I've ever heard.
Am i the only one who thinks AmaLee’s singing is a bit TOO perfect?
Yep. You are.
More smooth than the official transition, while keeping the emotional weight and power. I got goosebumps. Simply bravo.
this slaps, i normally don't like translated songs, but your covers always hit that sweet spot where it preserves the original, but you can still notice your own thing (apart from the different language of course)
First the Raon cover, then the Juby Phonic cover and Will Stetson cover, and now AmaLee cover! Gosh I love this song so much!!
Confession: been listening to this on repeat for 2 days straight while I'm awake. It's so DAMN catchy!
I've been listening to AmaLee's covers for years and it is incredible to hear how much her voice has matured and evolved over the years
This is genuinely the best EN cover of Idol I have heard!
Clever lyrics and the delivery of 1:18 - 1:40 gave me literal chills 😆😆
Agreed, I loved the rap part especially couldn't stop listening to it!
Really captures the people on the internet that fall into the idol worship even better than the original Japanese lyrics imo
Holy crap the lyrics work so much better in this english version than the official.
Amazing job Amalee ^_^
It's amazing how far your singing has come. Your range has improved alot since 2012 and it just feels like your confident.
Oh man, this is the best English version of "Idol". AmaLee did not disappoint at all. Very nice, congratulations from Brazil.
Yeah I agree, this is my favorite english cover so far, i've been waiting for amalee to cover this one bc I knew she would nail it.
hey if you haven't try I suggest you to listen to the French cover of it made by shirayukibananashi it's honestly really good too!!
@@louisonnoname3065 checked it out and it was really nice, the rhymes were really good, as someone who learned a bit of french, I thought it was really nice and impressive
I didn't catch the word "cover" until recently, so I honestly thought this was the official english translation. I was so happy, cause it absolutely rocks on par with the japanese one. Then I did find out, and listened to the official translation. And yeah, I wish yours was the official one, it's surperiour by a long shot ^^
I love how the lyrics have this beautiful meaning just like the original but are using synonyms or different scentences to make the English sound just as flawless and clean as the Japanese
I really love how this isn't the official translation, yet it can still convey the same story as the original. Amazing cover
HEY AMALEE!
I hope you had a fun time at Otakon!
I am so happy you did this song. I’ve been totally obsessed with it, and you sang it perfectly! Sending love to you!
FLAWLESS. You've helped me decide. The OST was the first impression I needed to decide whether to watch this or not. I was already adoring the art style. But I needed one last convincing thing. You brought me that in the best way possible!
You're our idol Ama.
Amalee is captivating every single person with her voice
She absolutely is
We know lol
Using one drawing and using the background to make it look like there are multiple drawings is really smart, good job AmaLee!
0:48 seconds in the song already and i love this
I've been an amalee fan since her first Crossing Field cover many years ago, and she just keeps killing it!
Shes about to sing the best cover of this song, and i was waiting so long for it!!!
This is my favorite translation of this song, your translations are always so good and that's why you are my favorite cover artist!
This is seriously so amazing! The translation is impeccable, and the way you sing it fits SO well with the original~
I find it unbelievable that they made a super amazing video with only one single drawing
I don't remember ever loving so many versions of the same song.. I seriously just can't get enough. I got goosebumbs by the end of this version too, it's so good
Why am I not surprised at all that AmaLee is absolutely nailing this? IT'S SO GOOOOOOD
You can tell this this cover was made with such passion and emotion! 👍
I loved this channel, I'm from Brazil and I want to learn english, so these songs can help me a lot. Thank you for this awesome work!
Once i heard this i remembered Oshy no ko and how much i cried after the first episode. Honestly it leaves a hole in my chest but its a very nice song thank you Ama.
feels like yesterday and I didn't lie when notified of new Amalee covers and this MV is so good!!! bless our Anime singing Queen and it fits!!!
Idolee is something I've been waiting for since I watched Oshi No Ko and heard the OP. Loved it
Usually I don’t like covers of songs but that opening cripples me every time I hear it.
This is my guilty pleasure as a man
Your so talented. Your singing is brilliant and you’ve quickly become one of my favorite VA’s in anime.
@@XHammer-fs5pfit's not real
OMG IM SO EXCITED, Idol has been stuck in my head for months now and now we get a Amalee cover of it?? YESSSS ❤
I am today years old now I realised why monarch has been appearing on my shorts.
All these things bring me joy
this is by far my favorite english cover of this song
So much has changed since first hearing of AmaLee’s brilliant work dating back to 2018. One day, she’s singing amazing English language OP songs of famous anime shows then becoming Marin of the English dub for My Dress Up Darling.
Now onto Oshi no Ko! Brilliance!
Why does this version of the song describe past me and present me so well??
I think your adaption of this in English really captures the essence of the original song so well. Yaosobi's original Japanese version is so good, but their English translation doesn't fit very well. You took it and ran with it. Not only through translation, but capturing the essence and feel of what the song was trying to evoke. Well done, an absolute amazing job. Thank you!
That's some unbelievable quality of a song! Cover or not - it's so hard to sing these lines so flawlessly with the perfect voice transitions. Truly an amazing work, that is a pleasure to listen to!
So, it's been almost 3 weeks, this cover has been stuck in my head...
Don't help me, I'm enjoying it :D
Same😭
This Oshi No Ko Cover is 🔥. I am going to put this song whenever I am exercising. It’s a great energy song.
Amalee’s voice is perfect for this song. You killed it! If someone told me that this is Ai in the English dub I wouldn’t believe it only because it’s so good.
The singling , the translation and the editing this is just soooo good wth is the hodgepodge of talent?!?
ITS THE SCUFF QUEEN OF TWITCH BACK WITH ANOTHER BANGER COVER RAHHHHH🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
The Oshi no Ko dub really missed the opportunity to have you voice Ai
I just want to say that every part of this video is flawless: The singer, the video itself, the background, everything. I play this on loop so much, and thank you for creating it. Everyone who contributed is truly talented.
I love blasting this at midnight
I love Amalee and her songs are incredible. I've enjoyed lurking in her streams and the scuff is a perfectly enjoyable counter to that angelic voice. She's a wonderful individual and I hope she enjoys massive success with good vibes only.
