Thanks for this video, I believe you are a Nigerian, and our stair detailing is not like that which it's been exported from prota structure, can you make a video on how to edit the stairs to our own normal way for approval.. Thank you
Hi Sir, can I kindly check with you, If I design the staircase in Prota Steel with details and everything, Do I still need to do the Staircase modeling in Prota, for example if I am designing a 2 Storey House with staircase inside, Do I need to do this? 1st step: Modelling all columns, Beams, Slab, and Staircase for the house 2nd step: Design Staircase separately in Prota Details are these steps correct? is my understanding correct ?
Yes can do either of the two, you can decide to model the staircase together with the other structural members, doing this will ensure all loads are not left out. The second option of designing the staircase separate, you can do this bur ensure you transfer that loads manually to whatever is supporting the staircase in the model.
@@ShefdenAcademy Thank you sir for your reply, very much appreciated it. May I asked, how about to design L-Shape Staircase, Open Well Staircase and Straight Staircase with Landing? Can we use Staircase Module in Prota to do these three type for Design? Or Staircase module in Prota Detail only meant for the use of U-Shape (Dog Legged) Staircase design?
It's already a year ago but I'll still drop this here. I always tell young Engineers to learn to trust their brains first before dabbling into the use of all these structural design applications. These applications are just a GIANT CALCULATOR. They should be seen as TOOLS to make your analysis and design faster but allowing the applications to make judgements for you will get you into trouble. From the video above (14:52), the *required area of steel reinforcements* at different sections of the staircase has been provided by the application. Furthermore, you can actually export the document displayed as a *word file*. Which means, you can simply go to your *steel table*, provide the right area of steel reinforcement based on the available reinforcement diameter in your country/region, edit it in the word file and you're done. Manual design may be time consuming but understanding it for each structural element (beam, columns, slabs, foundation, walls) will allow you to know how each behaves under different load configurations. Therefore, you'll know when your structural design application is giving you an erroneous output. My two cents!
Great video. Sir I have an issue. I followed your tutorial on stairs design but the values I have in the column "provided/required (m2/m)" are all 0.00/0.00 and my spacing came out 0. What could be the problem. Please help me out
Your question seems unclear to me and I think not really related to staircase. Cutting slab strip, you need to get the end conditions right. I think that what you mean
Kindly give a comment if you need my help in any aspects
We have a complete guide to this. Check it out 👉 shefdenacademy.com/courses/freelancing-as-a-structural-designer/
@Eugene Ayoakateng we have a full course in that, click here plz 👉shefdenacademy.com/courses/freelancing-as-a-structural-designer/

Good video. We don't use Y13 in Nigeria, how do you ensure the selection is Y12?
What you have to do is to choose a project that you have already limit the reinforcement to Y12

There should be some provisions provided for reinforcement and spacing. Make sure you hit on the design button b4 viewing detailing.
What could be possible solution for difficult in draw the slab strip. Thank as am awaiting your response soon

Can you model and Design Cycle Stair
Yes, it can
How can I edit the dimensions and colors in AutoCAD after I have exported the designed stairs

Weldone sir....nice job
Most welcome 🤗
Please how do you do the spiral stairs
Okay, note that
Please hw can I design a staircase with 3 flights
The same way we design a 2 flight stair, each flight must be rightfully supported. A manual approach is usually application in stairs design.
What about columns and beams?
