My guitar teacher was disorganised but he made up for it. Nicest guy on earth, incredibly great teacher. Any time he was late he'd add on to the end of the lesson and sometimes he'd even just run overtime without realising just because he was so passionate about teaching. It didn't cut into other people's lessons either, he had a timetable and he missed his own break over just wanting to go through more stuff with me
I had a teacher who was kinda like that. He didn't have the greatest sense of time but he made up for it by being an amazing guitar player and teacher, there's times when he'd go over time just for me and he never let his lack of time run into someone else's time.
I have always been the "never been to a formal guitar teacher and only got his lessons from RUclips" one haha. Always appreciate the comedy and quality man. Cheers
Every guitar teacher ive ever had was seriously under qualified and lacked the mear confidence and patience it takes to teach someone who doesnt know anything at all. Well done Bradley please never stop making these videos
Many guitar teachers are only trying to make enough money to survive while they go after "their dream." They have none of the skills required to be a teacher and therefore no business doing it. If you're an intuitive musician even though lacking skills they may steal your work too. 😅 A great teacher with no lack of pupils might even tell you to skip some sessions until you've achieved a particular goal. Anyway, good luck with whatever you're doing.
The only two teachers I ever had were "The Disorganized" and "The Savage". The Savage said I had tons of potential and wanted me to essentially quit everything I was doing to play guitar.
@@superjanembaishappy5512 Looking back though I think he was just a really good man. The online tutor is not only a guitar prodigee but a universal genius. Tales say that he wrote his first three big albums (two of which hit quadruple platinum on the first day and one that was never perceived by a single human since it is too complex to grasp for even the most advanced musician) before he even left the womb of his mother. Not only does he play 30h of guitar every day and contacted at least 4 species outside our galaxy simply by dissonant tapping, he also inspired greats like Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Lars Ulrich. In the few seconds per day that he is not consciously playing the guitar, he invents at least 3 genres. Also he has perfect pitch in every hertz frequency and it is rumored that he co-wrote almost 85.4% of all music ever written. His online lessons are free of charge since he sees it as his duty to pass on his knowledge and legacy to the younger generation. Sadly, he only has one upper half of the original Iphone as a camera and only smart device (he ate the other half) and a connection that gives him 3 bits of transmission every hour.
When I was ten I had a school music teacher who made us play ode to joy on acoustic guitar, and she had us "Walk" our index and middle fingers on the strings, alternating between the two fingers. Everyone else was playing it perfectly, and I just couldn't do the walking thing. I could pick it perfectly though. I now consider myself a moderate/advanced electric guitarist playing solos, and I still can't do the walking thing. And I have never seen anyone walk their fingers in my life
Yeah. I had The Chatterbox.. 45 minutes, spoke a bout the good ol` days. 15 minutes of "Blues" stuff and didn't learn a bloody thing. That shit hit home hard.
My teacher is amazing. I had learned so much in a year from him than in my bedroom noodling around. He's also a music teacher and can explain stuff really well that will actually make sense. Me and my buddy are so grateful to be his students. 💪🤘👍🤙
The Underqualified and Overqualified hit home with me because out of the two teachers I've had one was in each category. The unqualified was a teacher at a music store when I first picked up the guitar. Didn't realize until quite a bit later, but I'm willing to bet he was one or two lessons more experienced than I was. The second was after about ten years of not playing and deciding to jump back into it. I didn't remember much at all about guitar, and this guy starts me working on licks from Cliffs of Dover on my first lesson.
For me personally, the disorganized teacher is the best teacher I've ever have. He was super laid back, understanding, and approachable. Him not being the most organized and formal thing ever made it feel like almost I was going over to a friend's house whenever we had lessons. Miss you, Jacob.
My old teacher was the noodler and at the end He also was the one that didn't want to be there but my "new" teacher is a Combination of the overqualified and the unorganised one.... But due to that it really pushed me to get better and i went from playing Basic pentatonic and Power chord Riffs to now playing necrophagist and wintersun in about 2 years !
I had the egotisitcal berklee college of music grad who for homework had me listen to his new album and tell him which solo was my favorite (a pretty mediocre hard rock album with some mild shred stuff). I listened to it and at the start of the next lesson I told him which one I liked the most. He said, "well then you'll like this!" And he played something vaguely familiar with his unplugged electric guitar and said, "do you recognize that?" When I said, "not really" he yelled, "THAT WAS THE SOLO YOU SAID YOU LIKED, WHY WOULD YOU LIE AND SAY YOU LISTENED TO IT WHEN YOU DIDN'T!"
I have had the same guitar teacher for 4 years and he is amazing! He can teach me anything and it's nice to hear his gig stories and talk about life while shredding the sh1t out of our guitars..
I think I have the best guitar teacher you could ever dream of. I started playing acoustic guitar a year ago and decided to find guitar courses. The first time I saw my guitar teacher, I realized that music is in his blood. Literally in a year I can play Five Magics and Holy wars... The punishment due of the Megadeth at full speed, in compliance with palm muting and other techniques, and he also opened for me a Schuldiner with the band Death. He also helped me with the choice of electric guitar and combo amplifier (I chose, and then we bought it on the Russian equivalent of eBay). He also provided me with his amp (for free!) until I bought the one I wanted. Dude, he literally looks literally like a cool uncle which you will never have from American TV series. He's also into things like bikes, metal, blues and stuff, but he doesn't disdain using pop songs to reveal some guitar techniques. Such a nice guy. And you can't say that he's going to be fifty soon. Looks like forty at most. And he never told me *you don't train enough.* By the way, a cool preview.
my 1st guitar teacher was originally my older brother's teacher. He taught me the basics really well, and got me into bass too. I don't think I would've learned as fast as I did without him. My current guitar teacher is an absolute legend. Fun guy, super nice, and he could tell I had more than the usual interest in guitar and music, so he always has a cool story or little tip about whatever random lick I taught myself and play before the lesson starts.
I was lucky to find a guitar teacher that's also become a really good friend and more of a mentor. The right guitar teacher can make tons of difference in your progress
