Getting into photography was the worst nightmare for my wallet lmao that and Steam sales.
Hahahah steams sales!!! Gets me everytime.
You left...???
Man, I really love the idea about "stealing" compositions by making screenshots! I often see something on a video that I really like, and think to myself, "Oh, that looks awesome, I should do something like that!" and then, of course, I forget about it. I'm definitely going to try to incorporate this.
So did you? Or did you, of course, forget about it.
Unpopular opinion but i think using chat gpt to write your script or generate ideas will kill your creativity and a lot of skills. If you are a one man band, you need to practice thinking of ideas, writing, planning out shots etc. I think too many creatives are so focused on the end product that they forget to enjoy the process.
If ai thinks of a sentence, now you need to show that visually. So ai decides for you what you will be shooting. Too many people just want to shoot as soon as possible, find shots that look cool and try to make it work in the story trough voice over etc. Instead of planning shots that communicate the story trough visual language.
Great video and I do all of these. Further resources: Unsplash (like pexels), Pexabay for sound, I use VEED for subtitles (I wish DaVinci Resolve would add an auto subtitle feature!)
Hey Jake! Thanks for the video :)
Could you film a video about your video making process, from concept to completion? It would be quite beneficial :)
ff
I normally don't even have to clap for audio syncing, Premiere Pro and Davinci Resolve have this waveform align tool that if both microphones at least catch your voice they will perfectly line-up audio. The clap can be a safety guard in case it doesn't work but if you forgot to do it, it doesn't ruined the shot
Just turn "Hardware Acceleration" off, and you can take a screenshot.
Dude! Love this bro. Stoked to put these into use on the vlog! Keep creating my guy!
Wait.... This isn't a R5 review.
I know you don't like to use laptops for editing but do you have a recommendation for those who don't have the space for a desktop computer? I feel so lost looking for something good to edit but also don't want to spend more than I have to!
hey i sent an email via your website a couple of weeks ago but not sure if it went through, did you get any messages from a music producer in australia?
Just discovered your channel and OH MY, very nice !
I'm pretty sure you're my spirit animal...
I learned a Frew things today. Thank you for the tips 😁
Great video!
Great video!! I have one tool that is not free but has been a huge time saver. Ive always hated looking for SFX and then downloading, file structuring them, importing, Etc... So I found something called Soundly and its a powerhouse of a sound design tool.
Stellar video dude! Hoping to catch a game of skate with ya one day
loved this video, thanks for sharing
over A year ago a guy gave a direct link to get FX for After Effects
Another great free resource to make your videos better is Jake Frew.
this is giving me some heyxnatalie vibes
Such valuable tips!
Matching the composition is a lot of fun. Matching the lighting too is a good technique as well.
Thanks for great tips! I have FCP license, but looking forward to giving a try to Davinci, I hear about it more and more lately.
great tips cheers for sharing always feel I learn something new with these videos. Thought it was pretty amusing that you mirrored the shot of you leaving the van to copy the camera action from the lobster. I always find given our driving seat in the UK is on the right hand side that the same shot isn't as cinematic as it would be in a left hand drive because of the camera action being from screen right to screen left.
Nice detailed video 👍
The Lobster😮 movie was so good
Sick. Thanks!
"Congratulations you've just opened up a black hole in ways to spend your money.." I felt this!😭
Not all heroes wear capes!
Omg thank you so much for all this valuable and helpful info!! You're a lifesaver :)
Why have I never thought of clapping to sync audio? 😳😂 Thanks for the free tip! Also love the composition stealing idea👍
Your videos are always so great. color, sounds, voice, everything super good. What mic are you using? Keep it up bro.
nice tips Jake. What LG monitor do you use for your colorgrade/editing, i´m looking to upgrade mine
Loved the video man! Such great techniques
Thanks for sharing Jake. Question. I have always used Adobe products for video. After watching the video i tried to find a "safe" place to download the free version (17 or 18) of Davinci Resolve. , Do you have a suggested link .. thanks in advance.
Great video Jake congrats !!
I've recognized Matti Haapoja's glasses on your desk 🤣

Amazing video! I loved the idea about stealing composition, that is a surprisingly effective way to level up the kinds of videos you can produce. Most of the time there's no need to reinvent the wheel!
