I was today years old when I realized RSE has a land champion and a sea champion. And Steven and Wallace are the moral counterparts of Maxie and Archie. That's consistent theming.
Indeed!I Never Thought Of Them That Way!Koh,Digimon World Dawn's Tamer Legend Of Light,And Sayo,Digimon World Dusk's Tamer Legend Of Darkness,Would Slaughter Steven And Wallace In A 2 On 2 Double Battle,Though!For Sure!My Fave Team For Koh:ChronomonHM,ShineGreymonBM,MirageGaogamonBM,RosemonBM,RavemonBM,Calumon!And For Sayo:ChronomonHM,GallantmonCM,BeelzemonBM,Apollomon,Dianamon,Calumon!All Level 99,With 9999 HP/MP,999 Stats,1100 Resists,Legendary Items,And The Best Traits/Moves!
I feel so dumb for never realizing that lol
Me too 😅
Same
Just wish they had steven as the champion for ruby, wallace as the champion for saphire, and then maybe even a new champion for emerald? who knows
I will say I would be happy if steven was just the champion in all 3 games tbh
Many people went prepared for Steven in Emerald with some Fire and Ground types to be surprised for Wallace and his Team.
Really I felt like the average player had one version of the game and the first time they went to the champion they didn't know what team they'd throw out. Like I played emerald religiously and I didn't even know it had a different champion from ruby and Sapphire until years later I just thought he was the super boss like red
My first game of pokemon was pokemon emerald, before playing I watched Jaidens Pokemon Ruby Nuzlocke and I followed her in pretty much everything, and since I didn't listened to names in the video pretty much, I forgot that she said wallace in sootopilis gym, not Huan, and I've got everything planned, barely defeated Drake, and imagine my facial expression when I didn't see Steven, but Wallace instead as a champion
I am a huge Wallace fan, and I could talk for days about his character 😭 One thing I will say about his characterization in the anime is that his DP version is the only one I'd consider real. The one appearance he had in Journeys was just downright horrible for who Wallace is. They did a total 180 on his character, where he goes from humble and kind in DP to just narcissistic and exaggerated in Journeys. He has never been concerned about his popularity before, he's Steven's best friend so he'd never throw shade at him, and I'm not sure why he was so worried about battling Ash when his niece Lisia was going to perform in a Contest Spectacular. He's the one who trained her in contests, and she's family, so I wouldn't think he'd consider missing it to fight.
DP Wallace is the most accurate to his characterization, and he deserves so much better.
Absolutely even I completely agreed with you
I’m a big Wallace fan just because I love the duality he and Steven form. Both are the champions of hoen and the Stone champion representing the land and the water specialist representing the sea. Also I’m convinced Wallace’s last name is Waves. That way we have Steven Stone and Wallace Waves.
I believe that was confirmed somewhere
Steven stone may break my bones but Wallace will never hurt me
Juice wrld reference lol
This is a bad take of mine, I actually think that Wallace is probably the most wasted potential character of Hoenn especially in ORAS. He should have plenty of screentime in the Delta episode, He is a perfect mediator between the quarrel of Steven and Zinnia. He knows the tradition and culture of Rayquaza and also a guardian of Sky Pillar so he is able to understand what Zinnia is trying to do while he is also the best friend of Steven, he can able to understand the situation of both parties and tell them that they have their rights and wrongs. Wallace being heavily involved in destroying meteor would make more sense that Steven entrusts him to have his champion title. if there is an alternate universe where Brendan/May doesn't exist. I'm sure that Wallace will do the work to save Hoenn.
Wallace would be nuts if he EV trained Wailord for speed and gave it choice specs for Water Spout. Replace Whiscash with Swampert. Starmie being on the sidelines to replace Tentacruel or Whiscash would also be pretty sweet given how versatile and strong Starmie is.
If Steven would have been the champion in emerald, then Wallace would have been a post game battle at the sky pillar.
Or keep Wallace as 8th gym leader but make Juan guardian of Sky Pillar
Fun fact: on my attempt before my last attempt to beat wallice, i used Shedinja, and nearly won (in emerald of course)
My lv 20 something Shedinja defeated Steven's Metagross in Sapphire
He wasn't bad. Yes, he could have had a few different pokemon, though. It's be cool to as a series to making the gym leaders, elite 4 and champions better with what pokemon are available in the generations they are in.
I actually think Wallace does better than most people give him credit for. Like yeah, being mono water is tough, but within that context he has a ton of diversity, and with powerhouses like gyarados, ludicolo, and milotic, he can easily catch an ill-prepared trainer off-guard, doubly so because they also have to prepare for 4 other types first. He's definitely not the strongest champion, but I think he's actually tougher than Steven (who I think coasts on the reputation of just Metagross and maybe skarmory, but is kinda weak otherwise)
What I find funny is that Wallace can almost completely counter Steven's team by typing alone.
They're my fav champions ever, I like that Hoenn had 2 champions
I think people underestimate Wallace. This man is a mono type Champion, yes.
But he comes with multiple ways to handle BOTH weaknesses with great ease, especially given the lack of rhe Physical/Special split. This man took many attempts, and Steven took one.
A Champion who is both strong and beautiful. Imo, what sets him apart is his use of a monotype that is known for its versatility. Sure, they are capable and useful but not as intimidating as psychic types or popular as dragon types. Love seeing Pokemon when they veer off from trends (tho, they always go back after Gen 3 lol)
You definitely should do a how to improve Champion Wallace's team video
Give his Pokemon items and EVs. Replace Whiscash with Swampert (he owns one in the anime). I'd love to see a special attack, HP, or speed trained Wailord with choice specs or whatever would help it get off Water Spouts.
That Kingdra brings back bad memories
My new Team for Wallace
Keep: Milotic, Gyarados, Ludicolo
New: Lanturn, Gorebyss, Starmie
Lanturn - Amnesia, Thunderbolt/Thunder (for Rain strats), Surf, Confuse Ray/Toxic/Rest
Ability: Volt Absorb for Electric Types, used as an annoying Bulky rester
Holding a Chesto Berry
Gorebyss - Amnesia/Agility, Baton Pass, Shadow Ball, Hydro Pump
Can set up Gyarados or Milotic
Starmie - Psychic, Light Screen/Reflect, Surf, Ice Beam
Maybe a Dual Screen strategy? (Not sure if that was thought up in Gen III)
Steven was just a different beast though 😁
In the anime he also battled Ash, and if I remember correctly, he said he and Steven are equal.
That's exactly what a lower level trainer would say.
I just didnt understand the 8th gym and champion both being water type trainers
In the Sword and Shield anime Wallace said that he's equal to "champion what's his name" meaning he's supposed to be equal to Steven in Universe.
When I first got to Wallace, I only had a Septile left on my team....I became the champion 2 minutes later.
Wallace is my favorite Champion and my favorite memory of my favorite pokemon, azumarill, are him take down his gyarados and mylotic! True be told, i tink Azumarill became my favorite because of that fact alone and that was before he become a fairy type!
Also, water is my favorite type and the diferente style and dedication of Wallace make him grown in my view! That respect for the character only grow even more when i discover he and winona, my favorite gym leader in my favorite town in my favorite game (i always try make my secret base in fortree), have a relationship!
Adan as a Gym Leader is great. Mikuri as a Champion is also great. Pokémon Emerald deserves an anime graphical remake.
Great Video Mystic Umbreon!!!
Do you think you would ever do a decision video on comparing Pokemon Contest Vs Pokemon Showcases
Or Updating Eevee Best Team to include Terra Type and G-max Eevee
I'm not the only one to have encountered the untouchable leech seed Ludicolo right?
my counter to that was my Crobat's Aerial Ace, not missing at all hehehe
@@RUEniCIAN fr the only reason I don't remove that move from my crobat whenever I use a crobat
Wow Alola actually needs a champion
We're technically the first one, or second, depending on the version.
They got one and his name is ash Ketchum of pallet town
Maybe it's because Water type is lowkey one of the strongest types in the game...
It deals Super Effective or Normal damage to everything except Water, Grass and Dragon... meaning as long as it's not one of those 3, then Surf away until everything dies.
It's only weak to Electric and Grass... but it deals Normal damage to Electric and most (not sure if all) Water types can learn Ice moves that counter Grass (as well as Dragon types)
Gamefreak should give some love to Grass types and make them immune to Water moves. hahaha
As a avid lover of water types Wallace is one of my favorite champions 🏆
omg dude I LOVE Wallace that guy is my favorite champ by far, I wish they remade emerald
He's certainly the most WET Champion
I loved hoenn and Wallace was the only champion to win the Pokémon league and grand festival and to have a tournament cup named after him and Steven stone should have a tournament cup named after him where the winner goes directly to the ever grand city conference or the elite 4
Did not know you were a resident evil fan! Or at least knew about it! Awesome!
I think you should have also included information from the Pokémon World Tournament as his team was different in that.
Its a crime that Wallace didn't get a mega for his milotic
If Platinum had Volkner as champion, some random Electric trainer as the 8th gym leader, and Cynthia as some random chick, people would understand why Emerald annoys me. Steven being a random trainer just is wrong, as is the level 70 Rayquaza pre-league.
Woah man! Unthreading? Seaking belongs in ubers
You should rank them at the end, like putting them above or below the ones you already talk about
He doesn’t have good stuff against poison nor electric, but still have difficulty beating him with a manectric
A nice analysis.
Sorry if this is off todays topic but I don’t like to use repeating types in best teams.
hello, I'm planning to use new teams, keeping my starter, Mewoscarada but rotating out the other members, I don't want type redundancy, and transfer pokemon, no legendary tough, for the dlc, since we don't have much information about returning mons, it is a work in progress, and I will be breeding them, the members I have are for Teal mask are: Hissuian Zoruark, Hissuian Arcanine, Sneaselr and Krookodlie and I need a water type, and for the teal disk, I will use wyrdeer and basculegion, among the three new members, I will want a fire type, any suggestions?
Due to the sheer abundance of grass types in hoenn I'd say no
How is strong he?
Absolutely
a champ simply should not get oneshotted by taking the grass starter
Diantha is not that bad. But the Gen 9 champion and 5 are horrible minus Iris
My sceptile swept his team lmao leaf blade + giga drain spam
I cant wait for Cynthia.
No. Cynthia from Platinum.
nice video and Wallace will never be better then Steven lol
Did he never have a kingdra?
I beat wallace being annoyed cuz steven wasn't the champion.
I say leave the champion Queen Cynthia for last as we all know she's the best champion.
Adding to this series you could make improvements to there teams based on the gen they are in and opinions they have.
I’d say Wallace is pretty mediocre for a Champion, because monotype teams aren’t really challenging. Also, Wallace has two Pokémon with double weaknesses, and Wailord and Whiscash are both mediocre as well.
In this day and age I would agree but when these games came out the competitive scene wasn’t as big. Ppl played with their favorite Pokémon instead of the strongest. And players were more likely to not have a lot of type coverage and also have more of the same types on the team. Imagine playing up to Wallace with a team of fire and ground and rocks type not knowing. You would get destroyed. Vice versa pulling up with grass and electric types.
on one hand, id argue that hes weaker than Dianthia and Geeta because you can VERY easily one shot his team with thunderbolt and rain dance+thunder but on the other hand, he doesnt suffer like Watson, flannery, Flint and or volkner being in regions and gens that have not alot of fire and electric types. its common knowledge about hoenn and too much water.
like with every gym leader trainer elite 4 member and champion pre at least gen 8, they are all victims of their own region and generation. you could argue that ORAS and BDSP could be easier because of more access to moves and types and Spiritomb can be dealt with with fairy types moves and pokemon that are fairy types that werent 3-4 gens ago.
i like wallace as a character and i think water type champ is appropriate for hoenn but always found it stupid to have 2 water type fights in emerald making me feel better that made steven the champion in oras.
can we say ORAS is better than RSE thanks to mega evolutions? can we say scarlet and violet are the best because of Tera?
id wonder all the time what it would be like if every game had something like the tourneys in BW2. let every champ elite 4 and gym leader have a chance to shine in gen 9. the further you go back, it always feels like every trainer is trapped in the mecha of their own games and how you look at it can be good or bad.
Wallace was not a challenge for me whatsoever. My Shiftry, Swellow, and Manectric easily decimated his team.
They gave Wallace a Swampert in the Anime!
Who is Trace?
You could easily beat him with grass and electric types
i think wallace is better. just replace wailord with a starmie. and whiscash with kingdra
Answer: Yes.
He was one of the easiest champion's throw a grass and electric Pokémon on your team and that was a wrap still he's miles better that the new champion or X and y's
I wasn't really impressed with Wallace. As the 8th gym leader he as challenge at first. Steven Stone is a harder champion in my opinion
As a gym leader- yes he is strong.
As a champion- nah he is very weak.
Fuck NOO Wallace was easy as hell for me
lol nope, but he's fine haha
no hes not
He’s mid
Forgot he existed
No
To be honest he’s weaker then Steven stone and ash even beat him in Pokémon journeys
If anything, he’s the weakest
I think Emerald's 8th Badge should have been a Steel Trainer. Not Steven, someone else. RS was already heavy on Water with most of the remaining Routes after earning 6 badges and stopping The Evil Teams at their bases... it's Primarily Water Routes and Caves. Meaning you will start encountering more Wild Water Types and battling dozens of Water Type Trainers, and your final gym battle is a Water Type Gym. Then you have Emerald, where everything I said remains the same, except now the Champion is also a Water Type Master? 2 of the final 7 Boss Battles have at least 11 Powerful Water Types between them... that's not balanced! Fire Types, Rock Types and Ground types STRUGGLE during the last Quarter/Fifth of the game.
After watching 1 second I can say: no
