Excellent tear down and technical information as always. It does seem to bounce as you stated and it looks like it enjoys being on its lid but I think with some shock tuning and tires it would be a pretty tough basher. idk about the price tho
Looks like MJX made some really great changes to this truck, I'm almost tempted to buy my first non big brand RC but not at $400. I'd love to see a comparison of this truck to the Mini Maxx when you get your hands on that truck. Thanks for the awesome content!
I got a v1.2 from aliexpress for $150 shipped. Just ordered the v1 to v2 kit off makerfire. If I can get my loctited screws out I will probably upgrade it eventually. I have already swapped out to an ic5 plug on esc and put in a dumborc receiver. For the money I have in this truck it is awesome, might not put any of the v2 parts on... time will tell. Appreciate the comparison in the video.
Yeah the original version certainly wasn't bad. I think it got a worse reputation than it deserved because people heard they were updating it. I personally thought the V1 was a lot of fun.
Absolutely. I wish they had been a little more forthcoming with the information about the second version but I can also understand why they wouldn't want to.

Love your videos and all the tips and info you always provide, thank you for what you’re doing! On this one I was thinking the extra bounce might be due to a combo of it being OVERsprung + UNDERdamped. I wonder if putting the V1 shock springs on would help solve some of that? 🤔
Oh been looking forward to this one! $399 is clearly overpriced, but for around $250 would be a great buy, even though cost of bigger tires does bring down the value a bit.
Great detailed review..I agree they should have spent some time on tuning it...although I actually believe it is constructed very well and durable I feel my laegendary thunder is way better handling and jumping...yes I did break a couple of parts hitting a trash can at 30 mph,but with $24 parts and hour to fix it's an awesome truck..not all of us beat the crap out of our rc,s...😊
Looks way better right outta the gates, that said I haven't watched your bash yet. I would be pissed off if I ordered the V1 and I don't take kindly to companies using us the consumer as R&D. I had heard some other channels say that the v1 was sent out to reviews for a comment period & testing but they also sold and shipped out those less than great v1. They should offer a trade up to the people that bought the v1. Cheers let's bash !
Yeah what I was told about it originally was that the version we got was the version that was going to be sold. Technically that was true because people who bought them initially got the V1 version but clearly they were also already working on this version so not 100% forthcoming.
I fixed that granite BlX esc where one of the battery wires broke at the esc entrance with a stub left . The first time I capped it and it came loose again so I ground down that little nub and cut away some of the rounded area and it looked like the wire goes right into a block of steel ? I left the smallest nub but if it comes apart again I’m going deeper 😂. I think it’s solid now , hopefully . The previous attempt lasted 4 packs .
Been waiting for this video !!!! Thank you. I have a Hobao question please. The MTX you build.. i can't find the motor you used and would really like to know what size is the max that will fit please? (And tt 2.0 or ttse) Thank you so much for the videos, when ever i want know more of something, this is my go-to channel.
I don't specifically remember which motor I used or if it was the largest that would fit. Unfortunately the amount does create some pretty serious limitations though. I'd recommend joining the hobao Facebook group and asking on there as there will be people who have a lot more experience with it than I do.
@DoRC Thank you so much for the reply. Especially since i am such a huge fan. It meant a lot to me. I have this feeling that Hobao is gonna become my favorite brand. Thanx for the awesome detailed videos.
Yeah it was mostly me saying that. That's the information I was getting directly from MJX at the time. I asked them multiple times to verify that was the case and they did.
That's a pretty good price. I don't have a lot of long-term experience with this particular ESC so I don't really know what the reliability is going to be like but overall it seems decent.
I would say they're pretty similar. This one's a little bit bigger the OT feels a little bit more sophisticated parts availability will probably be similar for both the OT has a lot more upgrades available from Rlaarlo etc. At this point I think you'll be hard to pick a clear winner between the two.
It's a little subjective because I don't really have any way to actually measure it but by feel it does seem like both the arms and the chassis are stiffer.
I may have criticized MJX in the past, for personal bad customer service reasons, your mileage may vary. But a new decent entry into the 10th scale arena is only a good thing for all consumers, whether you buy one or not. Competition breeds innovation and lessens big brands ability to price gouge, except for Traxxas, they just do what the shareholders tell them to do, living in their own bubble, ignoring everything else. So, though I'm not going to be a customer, i think it's nice to have more options. An extra inch of width can do wonders, so I'm told. The More You Know 💫
For sure. A lot of the off-brands are a little lacking in customer support unfortunately. You definitely pay extra to get that first party support but sometimes it's worth it.
@@DoRCit doesn't look like they changed the ESC app setting where you can set the LVC as low as 2.8v ? In my opinion (just my opinion) I think 2.8v is too low, as most hobby grade chargers won't charge a battery (safely😮) if a cell is below 3.0v At least, my two chargers won't, unless you get "creative"
Bigger pinion yes. Will it make it faster? Maybe. It'll increase the theoretical top speed but the actual top speed is power limited not necessarily gearing limited.
@DoRC Ali has the V1 with free shipping (about 3 weeks or so, lol) for $170. So, with the upgrade kit you mentioned, that would put this at $210 or there about. Good idea, or should I look at something else for a 1/10th basher? I just really love their esc and swapping that 2500kv motor into my H8H would be crazy fun, lol
For the price it's pretty good. Obviously if you spend more money you'll probably end up with a better product but I don't think you'd be disappointed spending that amount of money on that vehicle.
@DoRC what other option would you suggest? Associated, axial, hosim, Arrma, fms, etc .. just not traxxass pls. You motivated me to get out my Losi xxx BK1 and put a 3900kv on it with a super cheap esc. where can I get the 3970 2500kv motor to try in the h8h?
@jhrubicon1470 Not sure about the motor but the new V4 3S arrmas are really good. I suspect we'll be seeing a new granite fairly soon so it might be worth waiting for that.
Its hard for me to get behind a lot of these other brands just for product availability in the us as in local stores and product part longevity i do tire of being a arrma, traxxas, losi,AE fan boy but thats what is easy to get and service i am hoping corally gets a bigger presence in the us and my local hobby shops start stocking there stuff be all over them when that happens
Yeah unfortunately it's unlikely any of these newer up-and-coming brands are going to be pushing for in-store parts availability. So many people buy their parts online these days that it probably isn't worth their while to go through what it would take to build up a national network of in-store availability.
Dont suppose theres any timeframe on when this hits the uk is there? Although i just read anyone who purchased the v1 will get a free v2 upgrade kit sent December guessing that means if you purchased from a none 3rd party right?
@DoRC thanks for the reply tho bud I'm torn I like this little basher but also like the traxxas fiesta although probably will only be able to get 1 past the Mrs 🤣
@@bencresswell1177 unless you're mostly doing on road or really smooth terrain off-road bashing I'd go with this. Rally cars are really cool and look awesome but they are, at least in my opinion, the least versatile form factor in the hobby. They don't have the ground clearance for real off-roading and they tend to be two top heavy for real on-roading.
@DoRC that's exactly what I was thinking tbh I love the mojave 4s but at £450(cheapest I can find) it's a bit pricey and I'm not sure I want to have the thought of the price in the back of head whilst using it I want something that's cheap fun and cheap repairs too and as you probably already know arrma spare parts aren't the cheapest
It didn't feel particularly nose heavy to me It just doesn't have a lot of air control. I think larger and or heavier tires will definitely help with that.
Thanks for the feedback. I do try to keep a good balance of bashing but I have to make sure it's short enough that people will keep watching. You'd be surprised how many people tune out during that part
Yeah that's definitely an option! If it's not too badly stripped you can also do it with super glue. Fortunately this comes with spares so it's not necessary in this case :-)
Thanks for the in-depth video. Could you please help me understand how you know the BEC can be set to 7.4V? Does this only affect the servo? If so, did you get the max voltage off the servo manufacturer's specs? I am not very electronically adept, and would like to understand why reviewers set things the way they do, instead of just copying and without damaging my precious toys :D
So the ESC will have various BEC settings. Some of them like the Traxxas buttons are only set the way they come from the factory and you can't change them most of which are 6 volts. Most aftermarket ones are either 6 volts and 7.4 volts or maybe up to 8.4 volts. The BEC powers the servo receiver and pretty much anything else that's connected to the receiver. You need to make sure that all of those parts are capable of handling whatever voltage you set it to. Most receivers are capable of dealing with as much BEC voltages any normal BEC will be able to put out though the Traxxas ones are only rated at 6 volts. Most modern servos are high voltage and are at least good up to 7.4 volts but again that's something you'll have to verify with your particular servo.
No I don't think so. You get more out of the box obviously but especially if you buy a 3S Arrma on AliExpress the price difference isn't massive and there's just more long-term to like about the 3S arrmas. If I was going to recommend a single car for someone to buy it would be the Arrma every time but if you like to take a chance want to try something different they 10208 is definitely a cool car.

@@DoRC do the bearings not wear out quicker with 3700kv? 2s and a little bit of 3s or maby 3s at 75% power the pro's of taking the 3700kv smaller pinion so i can use the same pinion guide not that i am a noobie but because the motor will not move and it adds strengt to where the motor mounts i do not have big flat head screws like you have that have a big surface area to spread load over the plastic where the motor mounts pro's from 3150kv esc will be happier when you look at the specs 3660 3500kv max wp10bl60 why not the 120amp? havier so less weight to demp when jumping and fall speed 3700kv is little over and might run cooler and less rpms
I’m throwing this on the watch later playlist, but before I leave, does this still have the awful throttle delay that a lot of the other cars of this manufacture have? I bought a hyper go earlier this year and ended up giving it away because the throttle lag was honestly very annoying, the car was already hard to drive with how fast it was and being a short wheelbase, but the throttle delay made it unbearable. It almost felt intentional not just poor electronics.
I didn't really notice it but I'm a little insensitive to those sorts of issues since I drive so many different vehicles. I think if it was as bad as you experienced I would have noticed though.
Yeah they need to keep the price low. Thats the whole point of getting this over the "bigger" brand names. Love your reviews btw nobody goes as in depth.
Hmm. That's a tough one. The 10208 definitely has more features out of the box but you'll get likely longer parts support and better potential product support for the MT-10. I say go for the MT-10 if you want to be safe and the 10208 if you don't mind taking a little bit of a chance.
Yeah it's just too stiff. It's interesting most manufacturers for the longest time made the suspension way too soft out of the box and now everybody kind of seems to be going the other way.
@@DoRC as we know China is all about one way or the other no thread lock vs the world's supply thread lock, diff not shimmed vs diff with all the shims 🤣
@@Luke-en2tk Yeah it was nice to see them actually switch to the pre-applied threadlock. That's probably the best way to ensure consistency and as far as I know only Traxxas uses it.
Idk about this one. Looks like it really struggles to land jumps without bouncing around. The price is tempting, but I don't want to constantly chase the truck to flip it over onto its wheels.

Why should we buy this when the RLAARLO OmniTerminator exists ? PS: as always……. Best American video available for this model imho…. You do the right job, big salut 🫡 to you from France 🇫🇷 !
Well this is larger has pretty much all the same features as the OT could possibly be considered more durable is 4S instead of 3S as a clipless body if you like that kind of thing etc. That being said I think the two are pretty direct competition for each other and the question could easily be asked either way.

When watching a video of this particular truck running it does not look good. The feature is the appearance. All that is amazing but the actual driving in the videos I see looks cheap just doesn’t appear to be Quality

The wire should be soldered directly into the board but I'm not sure if they use a standoff.
I absolutely love your content!! Great video! Keep it up.
Thanks man Glad you enjoy. If you guys keep watching it I'll keep making it!

Been waiting for this video !!!! Thank you.
I have a Hobao question please. The MTX you build.. i can't find the motor you used and would really like to know what size is the max that will fit please? (And tt 2.0 or ttse)
Thank you so much for the videos, when ever i want know more of something, this is my go-to channel.
I don't specifically remember which motor I used or if it was the largest that would fit. Unfortunately the amount does create some pretty serious limitations though. I'd recommend joining the hobao Facebook group and asking on there as there will be people who have a lot more experience with it than I do.

Awesome.
I'm almost game on the V2!
They definitely made some good improvements!
Great comparo & review. Thanks! Some day I'll get one of these.
Glad you enjoyed!
Ow man, everyone said there isn't going to be v2, now i got to buy the upgrade kit.
Yeah it was mostly me saying that. That's the information I was getting directly from MJX at the time. I asked them multiple times to verify that was the case and they did.
Nice video! I liked mine, and i LOVE yours!
Thanks glad you enjoyed!
I found the esc on ali express for 36 dollars tax and shipping included.. it has to be the best budget esc with Bluetooth included.. what do u think?
That's a pretty good price. I don't have a lot of long-term experience with this particular ESC so I don't really know what the reliability is going to be like but overall it seems decent.
Appreciate the heads up man…the fact that they are going from budget-friendly to $399 is hilarious
So many better options than MJX
To be fair that's just the Amazon price. You can get it on places like Maker fire and AliExpress a lot cheaper.
Awesome video thank you! How do you think this stacks up against the Omni Terminator?
I would say they're pretty similar. This one's a little bit bigger the OT feels a little bit more sophisticated parts availability will probably be similar for both the OT has a lot more upgrades available from Rlaarlo etc. At this point I think you'll be hard to pick a clear winner between the two.
OT is $212 on Amazon, pretty clear I’d say.
You must have been climbing all over that construction site with how much that sucker flips 😆
I got used to it pretty quickly and was able to keep it under control most of the time. It definitely could use a bit of suspension tweaking though.
Do the chassis flex as bad as the v1? Arms too?
It's a little subjective because I don't really have any way to actually measure it but by feel it does seem like both the arms and the chassis are stiffer.
Dude i wanna buy one of the escs from this rc.. do u know the part number??
Wow, really awesome truck, dude!!! 😮
But, I agree... It's too expensive. 😕
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
It definitely is a premium price.
In my opinion (just my opinion) I think 2.8v is too low, as most hobby grade chargers won't charge a battery (safely😮) if a cell is below 3.0v
At least, my two chargers won't, unless you get "creative"
Can it be fited with a bigger pinion and make it fast on 3S?
Bigger pinion yes. Will it make it faster? Maybe. It'll increase the theoretical top speed but the actual top speed is power limited not necessarily gearing limited.
@@DoRC well it should be something similar to the pinion options on the omni termi
@@RinkaiKouen Not 100% sure. The new mount does have fixed pinion positions but I didn't check to see what they were.
Really with they updated the driveline/steering with rubber shielded and greased bearings, but gotta sell replacement parts tho.
Yeah it would have been nice to see sealed bearings
Any idea what's in the diffs?
Not sure. If I had to guess maybe 20k front and rear and 100K in the middle or maybe 1 million in the middle.
Unfortunately at this point you know pretty much exactly as much as I do. I wish I could give you more info but I'm not getting anymore.
Some major differences and upgrades as well. Seems nose heavy. Hopefully changing the tires will make a difference, cause it barely wants to backflip.
It didn't feel particularly nose heavy to me It just doesn't have a lot of air control. I think larger and or heavier tires will definitely help with that.
i like your videos man. keep it up! more bashing !!!

@@TallTimbersUSA I think you'll be happy with it.
Unscrew the turn-buckle end, drop a bit of JB Weld on to the rod, thread it in, then out, and leave it. it should be fine after 24 hours.
@@DoRC Thank you brother!🙏 I'll go do some research.
Mjx are quite a good company by the looks of it

No I don't think so. You get more out of the box obviously but especially if you buy a 3S Arrma on AliExpress the price difference isn't massive and there's just more long-term to like about the 3S arrmas. If I was going to recommend a single car for someone to buy it would be the Arrma every time but if you like to take a chance want to try something different they 10208 is definitely a cool car.

2s and a little bit of 3s or maby 3s at 75% power
the pro's of taking the 3700kv
smaller pinion so i can use the same pinion guide not that i am a noobie but because the motor will not move and it adds strengt to where the motor mounts i do not have big flat head screws like you have that have a big surface area to spread load over the plastic where the motor mounts
pro's from 3150kv esc will be happier when you look at the specs 3660 3500kv max wp10bl60 why not the 120amp? havier so less weight to demp when jumping and fall speed
3700kv is little over
and might run cooler and less rpms
Agreed. The prices are definitely creeping up and that could be problematic.
Oh yeah, now its time to buy that
Yeah especially if you can get it at the prices from places like AliExpress It's definitely worthwhile.
Would you prefer the 10208 V2 over the Rival MT10 V2?
Hmm. That's a tough one. The 10208 definitely has more features out of the box but you'll get likely longer parts support and better potential product support for the MT-10. I say go for the MT-10 if you want to be safe and the 10208 if you don't mind taking a little bit of a chance.
