As you said, you want your entire wardrobe to only be quality pieces that mean a lot to you, so the fact that you didn’t keep anything was pretty much expected. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s all bad
This is the greatest trick of H&M. The clothes are just nice enough that you'd buy them after trying them on in the store, but after a few wears and washes the pieces start to fall apart.
@@Ben_S_ I think it depends on the item u bought. I bought their sweatshirts and they’re still good and quite comfy. But I wouldn’t be surprised if other pieces of clothing are worse.
@@HarryHas HAHA yeah you're right. Though H&M I guess is an exception. I still have a peacoat from there that I absolutely love, though the boots didn't last me a year so you still gotta be careful, unfortunately.
@@HarryHas I disagree. Some fast fashion basics are really solid like Uniqlo or some H&M tanktops that i wear to the gym that i own for years. Sure, if you buy some 100% acrylic from Asos that are super trendy and you don't want to wear for more than you are wasting your money, but timeless basics last quite well for me.
@@squircled6274 I prefer a plain cotton tanktop to run errands rather than athletic wear. I initially bought it because i forgot my top for the gym and H&M is like 5 minutes away, yet 5 years later i still wear it to run errands and sometimes for a workout. H&M also has a lot of crap, so i completely understand that people don't want to go there and try it out and Uniqlo is generally speaking a better choice.
For me the problem with HM is the fast fashion market they fit right in the middle of. They make cheap clothing posing as premium that won't last. These types of businesses are bad for consumers and pollution so I frankly don't go near them unless I find something worth looking into, but then again I like paying more for quality products so I don't havs to buy more over time. Great insightful video as always!
For me that's not true. Sure if you buy the lowest lines in HM they won't last but if I'm often buying the most expensive clothes there which still are reasonably priced and they serve me well. In my personal experience they are much better quality compared to a bit more expensive brands like hugo boss, ralph lauren etc
@@gleaned3373 True but I don't see anything wrong with it. If something is trendy at the moment i want to get it for cheap instead of paying huge trend tax for those designer brands. I used to buy expensive clothes even like gucci etc but quickly noticed that they are the same shit as in hm and they won't improve your style. You only get them to impress others with logo. Atleast that was my case
@@TheBartek9330 it’s bad because they use terrible materials that are bad for the environment, people also just buy it randomly because it’s cheap and then they throw it out
@@TheBartek9330 that’s also part of the problem, people need to be more selective about what they buy, regardless of if it’s high-end or fast fashion. If you don’t think you’re going to wear it down the line, don’t buy it
For me as a teenager, I don’t have the money for good and expensive pieces. H&M is cheap enough, and well known enough for my mom to allow me to shop around in the store. Sure, sometimes the jeans or the sweaters of mine have really fallen apart after some wears, but it’s not too bad for me. I’m not too upset with H&M.
@@qase8070 I don’t know, I don’t particularly count. But I’ve worn a pair of H&M jeans for about a year and there’s a hole right below my left knee on the back, don’t know where it came from. Like I said it’s not too bad, though you can kinda tell that it’s not the best of the best Yk?
@@yicklemypickle8716 well thats the point isnt it? You're their target audience. Once you get older and can afford more, it'll be more worth it to move on. Even if just to find your own sense of style, instead of just getting the off-the-cusp type stuff that H&M usually offers.
H&M used to be one of my favorite place to shop. But after I realize that Uniqlo sell the best quality of essentials I haven't step my foot on H&M anymore.
@@pikachuiswatchingyou airism is pretty cool actually, it's 1 of the best t shirts I had. Outside fabric from cotton, inside is plastic fiber. Dries out very fast and everything in the uniqlo is very soft and comfy. About heattech, I had some clothes of them, but I dont had this feeling of warm clothing, anyway they are ok for wear at home.
Uniqlo has lost it in terms of fit. Everything is very loosely fitting and looks cheap nowadays. I loved their older stuff but lately I've been a bit disappointed with their clothing.
I like H&M because it doesn’t advertise itself to be anything more than an affordable, in style clothing brand. I find Zara to be much more egregious as they like to market themselves as high end when their clothing is no better than H&M in terms of quality. So Zara video next? 😅
Zara quality has gone downhill likewise their quality control. Most fabrics are synthetic nowadays at both brands yet I find better quality at H&M but skip their cheap tees
Nah that's cap. I do agree that some items from zara might not be HUGE quality but they do some stuff worth buying. I have some items from zara that have above average quality for the price that i own for more than at least 5 years and they are still in great condition.
I’m not sure if it differs from country to country that much but in mine, H&M will barely ever have good pieces and 95% of their pieces are horrible quality. Zara on the other hand has much better quality clothing, albeit more expensive. Shirts and pants I’ve gotten from Zara have also lasted me a lot longer than pieces from H&M. Since I’m a college student I barely have enough money to buy from Zara anyway so most of my wardrobe is Zara items on sale.
@@togp3403 I can agree with most points you mentioned there. H&M quality is not above Zara, it varies on items. Recent hoodies quality at H&M have been better than Zara. However zara trousers and some wool jackets have been better offerings . Overall both have been back sliding with quality of fabrics and stitching lately . However zara is more stylist and has more options considering the volume of designs they churn out annually. I think Uniqlo has been doing well giving a balanced quality and price point. Also I was introduced to COS past few years better quality prices higher akin to Zara but better stitching and that is owned by parent company of H&M too. Worth a try. The demand for fast fashion is waning off for me as my preference is now for timeless and quality wear. Buying less pieces to use often and long lasting is worth the premium and overall better for the environment than the green washing by a lot of clothing manufacturers . Being that you are a student I understand affordability is paramount combined with quality
I think it also depends on where you're buying, I live in Portugal and Zara has some products that are made here so the quality is a bit higher and people regard it as better
Ah H&M the first clothing store that really got me into fashion. It'll always have a special place in my heart. I still love to shop/ browse around here, but don't do much buying anymore. In my experience everything always shrunk 1 to 2 even 3 sizes smaller after being washed and dried. It's a great place to start for anyone who's wanting to get into fashion though.
"Nothing's an incredible price if you don't really like it. That's just called a waste of money." I love this! It's so true, yet many people don't follow this.
Besides the massive cons of fast fashion, H&M was my first place, as well as Forever21, to begin expirementing and finding my own style. Just a while back, I was going to these places and trying on new pieces. Eventually, I began to see what I liked and what I didn't. Thus, I transitioned away from these places and began buying higher quality clothing that would last me a while. This only happened once I established my taste, and if it weren't for fast fashion, I wouldn't have been able to expirement. Of course, each person is different, but this is my personal experience with H&M.
You have a black belt in fashion. You videos are quite entertaining and informative for this middle aged guy living in Seattle. I'm actually in the beauty industry and ironically, clothing fashion has always been a bit of a blind spot for me. I love your no-nonsense approach and have found the content from you channel inspiring and valuable. Thank You!
I find H&M to actually have pretty good quality stuff especially for the price. Never had a problem with their jeans, jackets or tees. I think they're especially great if you wanna try a new style of clothing that you aren't sure you'll like or not so you don't wanna spend a lot of money on it.
@@rehakmate I have two pairs of H&M jeans, one of them for about 2 years and it's still in great condition. And one black pair that's been washed probably 5-10 times and hasn't lost any color. Perhaps you just got unlucky, idk.
I find the stuff i've bought from H&M don't last more than a few washes before it starts looking worn down, especially the lighter stuff like tshirts, sweatshirts and sweaters.
H&M is the perfect place for people like me who are pretty much broke but want to look a little bit "stylish" with the minimal "sophisticated" looks that they sell. It's fast fashion. So don't expect their garments to last forever.
I love H&M, and 80% of my closet is made of H&M clothes, in my experience, they do have good quality. Maybe not the greatest, but I guess you get what you paid for. And if you know how to properly care for your clothes, it’ll definitely last more than you’d expect. Overall, it’s really not as bad as everyone says, but each to their own
@@xeyutipe I've owned a pair of skinny jeans from H&M that lasted about 4 years, the first damage was quite detrimental, tearing in the crotch area. I had worn these A LOT. Washed and tumble dried every 3-4-ish wears. I have a few hoodies and a sweater by them that are still completely fine, they're going about 5-6 years now. I had a pair of thin relaxed trousers, those lasted about 4 years, but I wore them so, so often, and tumble dried them most of the time. They were like a thin, cotton pyjama fabric. A t-shirt that had thin fabric from the start, lasted about 4 years, the damage was thinning under the armpits and eventually tearing. For all of these, I have worn them a lot. Most of them, I tumble dried after washing for years, though recently I've not been tumble drying them. (I would recommend this in general, do not tumble dry if you can avoid it. I only tumble dry underwear, socks, towels and clothes I sleep in now.)
Agreed. You do need to be choosy and also play close attention to the care instructions (same for many brands....some more expensive). Wash inside out with like colours. Cold wash is fine for most outer garments anyway.
Veryyy positively surprised by the overall cut and silhouette of that bomber.. Definitely know what you mean though about the bobbling of the ribbing on cheaper ones!
I'm someone who loves oversized, especially with a bit of a classic feel to it, so the urge to buy at H&M etc. has definitely gone up. I was kinda thrown off guard, I typed oversized into the search bar and didn't expect 300+ results, they partnered with Weekday and I think some others, but still. It's not a company I like to support at all, from what I've heard, but in these uncertain times it can be kinda hard to turn down something you've been looking for at 40 bucks instead of 200.
H&M has a recycling program too. If you bring a bag of ANY clothes to their store, they will either donate it or recyling the material and give you a 15% coupon In exchange
I tend to find that H&M is good for the "essential" items, like tees, socks and underwear, especially for the price. Although I do wish we had places like Uniqlo where I live.
As an Ecuadorian, hm just reached my country just a month ago. And the thing is that for Ecuadorians, hm, Zara, pull and bear ( fast fashion) are one of the best things we can buy cause it’s affordable and at least for me, that influences a lot how people view fashion, and many people wear trends instead of finding their own style. And overall Ecuadorians do not dress that well IMO.
I worked at H&M for a while, and it was pretty not great. Almost all of my coworkers were around my age, (19) including a lot of the managers. I now have decided to only work with *experienced* managers because they were pretty awful. All of my coworkers were part of this clique, and a lot of them were buddy buddies with the managers, and because I didn't fit in the clique, I had to be the bearer of the blame for just about everything. It was quite frustrating. I'd notice a lot of coworkers standing around and talking and not being productive, coworkers being rude, and coworkers generally being a$$holes, but because they were best buds with the managers, they always got off scot free. But on the other hand if *I* wasn't being productive non stop all the time, if the managers found my looking at my phone for even a second, they would give me this whole thing about how we "need to always be doing something." Then they would proceed to go to the break room and not do anything. At least, thats what it looked like. A lot of the times the managers would be nowhere to be found. That or they were all together with all the other coworkers (except me of course) standing around talking and not doing anything. Of course, if I ever went up to say something, it was always "why aren't you at the cash register?? don't you know its inconsiderate to not do your job and make everyone else pick up the slack??" Yeah, sure. If you insist. The most frustrating part of my job was that even when I was on my first week of working there, they would be short with me because apparently it was inconvenient that I wasn't already an expert at my job. No one would ever tell me things, and when a manager would ask me to do something that I've never heard of in my life and was never asked of me before, and when I would inevitably ask "what is that" or "where is that" or "how do I do that," I was given a great look of "wow, are you really this stupid??" Instead of an explanation of what they are asking me to do. And then they would be mad at me when I didn't do exactly what they had in their mind that they wouldn't tell me. See the thing that sucks about H&M, at least the one I worked at, is that on your first day they make you sit down and watch this hour and a half long presentation about how "we need to be inclusive!" And "we're part of a team! No matter what your pronouns are!" They were *incredibly* preachy about how you need to be "moral" and "inclusive" and "stand up for other people!" But obviously that only counts if your "one of us." It makes me angry and I hate the freaking double standards here. I haven't gone to an H&M since and I don't really care to ever go there again either. The whole thing was so stupid. Anyway, that is all.
Hahaha. That sweater is definitely good for the price. The bomber has a great fit but not sure if it would look good in a few months time or not. Thanks for watching dude
my H&M suede chelsea boots is still going strong after 6 months, still lookin good. I hope it doesn't fall apart easily. I even wear it accidentally during rainy days because equator weather is unpredictable , no leaks.
One of my hottest takes is that as far as "quality" you get basically the same from H&M as you get from much more expensive brands. A lot of these looked good and I'm positive they'd last plenty of time.
I went into the comments expecting just people talking about the low quality of the clothes but then I saw people saying the clothes broke down I can certainly say I never had one of my H&M clothes fall apart or anything
I literally just bought some sweatpants before watching this video, but it was a necessary purchase, I lost all my sweatpants when I moved a few months ago and with winter coming they’re a must, but apart from these kind of “emergencies” I don’t buy often from fast fashion stores
i like that you also talk about materials. in addition to stitching, fit and country of origin, the materials used (natural fibers vs. synthetic) is a massive differentiator between high street and high fashion/luxury.
I’ve personally bought a few items from H&M, specifically a hoodie, a few shirts, a set of rings (which I plan on getting some more), and ordering some sweatshirts & some other items I’m probably missing that don’t come to mind. From my experiences, H&M isn’t THAT bad. I don’t go for the extremely cheap stuff, but I really pay attention to the quality through the images and see if it’s gonna be bad or good, so I’m very picky when it comes to those things, even if I have to pay a few dollars more. I haven’t had any of their stuff fall apart on me yet, but I can say that the shirts haven’t degraded in quality, shown signs of wear and tear, etc. it seems new still. Sure they feel a little on the cheaper side, but I tend to forget how much the piece actually costs when I’m out wearing it. They’re solid, but I’d trust bigger brands like Tilly’s, kohls or even old navy & abercrombie, over h&m any day
Thanks for taking the time to purchase and review all these pieces. Finding the right fit is the most important part for these pieces, considering the low price. Glad that you're promoting these pieces as 'budget' options, and compared some pieces with their higher quality, more expensive siblings. Videos like this definitely make finding a good look on a budget more accessible.
For me the problem with hm is not that they always look bad or felt bad, they just don’t last. Most of the items become sloppy after 4-5 washes and end up either get donated or can only be worn as lounge wear. But of course they are not the worst quality clothes I’ve ever bought, they are an established brand afterall, and some of the items you bought do look good so perhaps they are having some improvement now😄
It really depends tbh some jeans from h&m last forever and stay tight, others get loose after one wear. Some sweaters statt to fall weirdly and get a lot of pilling, others don't... It's risky :D
Are you sure you're washing your clothes properly? I follow the care instructions on all my clothes and everything I own has lasted 15-20 washes before starting to deteriorate. I don't have anything from H and M except a couple hats, but surely they must be better quality than $5 walmart tshirts.
I've had basic shirts and bomber jackets from H&M last several years even with weekly gym wear and wash. 10 dollars for something you can wear weekly for years is pretty good. The biggest sell of H&M is not the price it's that american mid level brands (selling at 2-3x the price of H&M) don't typically have slim fit clothing if you have wide shoulders but a small waistline. If you work out and have an atlethic or slim build its really hard to beat brands like H&M and Uniqlo.
Thing with these fast fashion brands is that eventually u end up spending more money on the long run having a full wardrobe but of cheap looking stuff that after some time you don’t even want to wear again
Thanks for another video! I've always felt meh about H&M so it's nice to see that there are still some nice pieces, even though there looks to be some patience and sifting involved. That cable knit sweater was quite a surprise to me. Unrelated - those Weekday track pants pull a dressier silhouette, and some of the knits you tried makes the outfit lean dressier, which for some reason looks more fitting for your frame and your physical characteristics. I suspect you'd pull of tailored suits quite well!
hey Harry, with the fall and holidays coming up you should do a video on holiday dinner outfits, or thanksgiving outfits, something like that. I love your style would love to see some ideas. Cheers!
The problems I see with H&M is that their quality doesn't really match up to the brand image they're trying to build, and also, their website is so messed up. Don't get me wrong, some items can last nicely especially bottom pieces, for most of tops they just lose that "new clothing look" very quickly. For the second thing, sure you can shop in their web just fine. However they lack tidiness in their product lineups, sale items also often misleading with price changing from one color to another, sizes available are ridiculously small or large although the sale just started. Imo they can learn a thing or two from Uniqlo. Their products are quite plenty but being marketed concisely.
I've never understood this obsession with "new clothing look" I wear my clothes until there's holes in them or the zipper falls off. Usually 5-7 years for most pieces. Sure some of my shirts have some minor stains, or the color has faded, but that doesn't mean they're unwearable.
Harry, as someone who's trying to build up a good wardrobe from scratch / very new to all of this, do you think you could do a video walking through the basics? I literally have no clue. I've been wearing jeans, tshirts, and hoodies for 27 years. - Where do I buy? - What's good value for money? What's not worth it? - What essentials do I need? - What should I avoid? etc I appreciate this might be a lot of work, but I've started to be recommended your channel randomly by the youtube algorithm and it's become an interest of mine now. Where do you recommend starting?
As Indian where there isn't much options. There are brands like Zara and Uniqlo which is much expensive compared to H&M. So, I don't have any complaint. I kinda love it.
@@jayeshranjan4413 plus I'm registered in UNI day which gives me 10% extra off in all products, and I'm north eastern so body types are much different from the mainland. Other brands like hrx, red tape and all don't fit in my body no matter which ever size I try. So, I like h&m because nicely it fit my body and how stylish they are but if budget wasn't issue I would blindly go for zara or Uniqlo.
Hi i do really enjoy your revies of brands. And this one comes a perfect timing cause I haven't shop at h&m for a very long time so I will probably take a look again.
I'm confused on how H&M is considered affordable? Its $17 for a standard Shirt,$50+ for cargo pants or varsity jackets and $20-45 for pants. How in the world is it affordable?
They have some ok base stuff but compared with Uniqlo they are just not for me. Especially as the stuff I bought there did shrink quite a bit after the first wash. Great overview and vid as usual mate. 😊🙏🏻👍🏻
Thank you bro. I haven’t had the stuff to see how it holds up but I can imagine that. Always worth spending a bit more and getting some good quality stuff
I know I can't afford a lot of expensive clothes. I'm rebuilding my entire wardrobe for $1000. Instead of mass-buying at H&M and Gap, I will only own a few great pieces and save up for quality brands. UNIQLO, massimo dutti, Zara, Frank & Oak, Levi's for jeans. So that each piece I own is great. I'll have no more than 3 bottoms, 4 tshirts, an oxford shirt, a sweatshirt, a merino wool sweater, an overcoat and maybe a few other pieces.
i bought a black turtleneck there about 3 years ago for like 15€ and ive been wearing it at least 3 times a month and its still good (besides two small holes on my back because of my cats)
h&m jeans ABSOLUTELY age towards a brownish tint. awful looking. they're pretty much a disposible piece of clothing - if you get them, expect to replace them in a matter of a few months
I had a pair of H&M jeans about 5 years ago. I don’t know what they’re like now but I remember that they stretched out a lot - by a lot I mean about 2 or 3 sizes. This meant that they were pretty much unwearable after 3 months and I had to throw them out.
The only problem l've had with their garments in terms of deteriorating have been the jackets. The fake leather just start to peel and dust in 4ish years, same with a limited edition nylon sports jacket. But their fabric jackets have been nice.
I would love to see a video of fast fashion brands o “affordable brands” that actually are worth, everyone just throw hate on these brands but no one propose an alternative
The knit wool sweater at 2:55 is merino wool not wool the one they launched last year with £29 is good with a much finer gsm and gives the feeling of wool. and I’m 6 feet tall and slim and I bought the same sweater you r wearing but it fits me perfect. But anyway good video brother in the next video review Calvin Klein clothing. And once check out the it’s black bomber jacket.
If you have an issue with the thigh area, jeans wise, try G-Star. It's a Dutch brand, and as we are a cycling people, there is more room in the thigh area, and many of their fits/ styles also come with elastane options, for additional comfort and stretch. When it comes H&M I only buy their knits when on sale at a significantly reduced price, as they too often have synthetic blends, sometimes even from the women's department as I am short, and the women's hemlines are a bit more flattering.
When I first started being a little more fashion conscious I liked H&M because it allowed me to try some new-to-me looks without breaking the bank. Now, though, I don’t think I’d ever buy from them again without a massive uptick in quality. Too many garments that don’t hold up after a few washes, and too unsustainable a business practice.
For some reason, their regular jeans fit me perfectly as slim fit jeans (I also squat). Perfect butt and thigh size for me, but that's about it! Uniqlo or Weekday are not that much more expensive and the fits are much better.
I'm kinda poor, so H&M is one of my favorite clothing stores I can actually afford. Also I'm a Swede and this is one of the highest quality low budget brands we have. The only one I'd say is better is Dressmann, as in better quality but similar price ranges, but wider range of sizes and slightly more mature style. I'm 36/30 in pants which is hard to find. But yeah I've bought many jeans, hoodies, tanks and underwear from H&M. Also I actually like that a lot of their black clothes fade to brown. Far better than those that fade to some kinda sickly green. I have a hoodie from H&M I bought back in 2013. It's completely brown by now (used to be black) and the cuffs have torn a lot. What bleached it was mostly the sun, actually. But I keep wearing it like "it's intentionally trashy." I also have a very thick, knitted zippered hoodie (wool/polyester blend) with fake fur lining, from that brand, which keeps me warm every winter. I dunno how long ago I bought it, but maybe 2015. That one's gray and stayed that way. My favorite blue jeans are also from that brand. Had to get them in 36/32 though, but I wear them cuffed. I've always had thick thighs, so I'm kinda used to pants being tight there. I don't ever really think about that. So yeah, I got a lot of clothes from that brand.
The one piece I've spotted at H&M lately is their relaxed tees with the thick cotton material. For 20 NZD the quality is unmatched and the more boxy fit with the heavier weight fits perfect on me. They have some really nice colours that are just outside of the usual, and they stock more regular colours too if you're lucky. I work near an H&M and watch them like a hawk for new relaxed tees but I never buy anything else from there. I've got a printed tee with their basic thin material and it's dog shit
@@harshul9408 I'm from the Netherlands, I very rarely buy there now but it used to be a real mixed bag. Since then I've only bought a few oversized items, perhaps they shrunk a bit, but it's honestly hard to tell with these sizes, and the shapes are holding up well. The only old item I still have from H&M is a long white tee sized up, that one did end up getting a worse shape, but I only use it as an under-layer anyway, you only ever see the bottom hem. So yeah, for oversized fits and under-layers I'd say it's generally safe, but I remember anything standard fit getting quite a bit worse over time. Some sweats lost too much stiffness and lost their shape too, and the denim I got from there was really thin as well. Anything listed as heavy or thick probably will keep it's shape a bit better too, but I've also had pure cotton pieces go TOO stiff.
@@harshul9408 I had similar experience, I completely refrain myself from buying at H&M, my go to brand is Uniqlo now, it's simply fits all my needs, price is little higher side for indian consumers, but I can afford.
I have had a pair of khaki chinos for a couple years now that ROCK. Off the rack they were OK, once i got them tailored and tapered, they now look like a MILLION BUCKS.
Here in Peru you can dress and look more original by buying at H&M, 50% of my closet is from H&M and for what I pay they give me a product that is similar to its price. I will continue shopping there because their prices are not that expensive and the clothes are almost unique and of a reasonable quality for the price.

H&M Divide is bad quality, but H&M L.O.G.G. is the best! I still have a kids sized shirt from years ago and I love it. I have some new pants from them and it seems to be holding up quite nicely and it's really comfortable. Best thing is that there are no annoying tags on the clothes.
I had never heard of h&m until I moved to Norway. I lived in Norway from 2006-2009 and at the time I was in middle school to high school. H&M was one of the only places I could afford to shop. At the time, I also like the clothes more than I do now (although I haven’t looked at their clothes in a long time). I think it’s a great store for people with a lower budget and for younger people. After I stopped shopping at h&m I moved on to Zara and mango which I think is the natural progression, I shopped here from high school to college. But now I am 29 and I find the quality of theee clothes lacking. I won’t shop at these stores anymore. I’ve been working in the fashion industry for a number of years now and have a new rule for myself that I won’t shop from stores I am not receiving an employee discount from unless the company I work for does not sell a particular product like I worked for Ralph Lauren but they don’t sell women’s underwear so obviously I had to get that elsewhere. I have access to employee discounts and exclusive sample sales so I tend to just seek a job from a company I love so my wardrobe can be filled with their products. I can’t tell you how many club Monaco cashmere sweaters I now own.
I find H&M and Zara (ff in general) really nice at first but once I machine wash it… it is basically unwearable. Also I wash all of my clothes at 30C so that shouldnt be an issue. Just bad quality that I try to avoid as much as possible, not worth any money at the end of the day. Reather save up and aim towards COS, Weekday and Arket in my opinion.
H&M is definitely moreso for teenagers on a tight budget--of which I would point towards UNIQLO for the best bang for your buck. Adults, even on a tight budget, can definitely afford to save for nicer pieces that'll last from brands like Acne Studios, Comme Des Garcons, Eckhaus Latta--especially during their 40% end of season sales!
I tend to avoid shopping at H&M or other chain stores. They don't offer good quality, only low prices. And I always try to remember that cheap clothes have a hidden price. It is not paid by end users, but by factory workers working for pennies, in terrible conditions, without insurance.
Close to off-topic, but I happen to have the same problem with the thigh-waist ratio on pants and cannot wear Levi's 501s most of the time for this very reason. Try the 505 instead, it has an almost identical cut, except for a zipper instead of a button fly, and it has more room in the thigh area.
Harry we love you.🧡 However we are kinda shocked you left this out. H&M is not the only company that violates the child slave labor laws, Gap, Old Navy, Intermix, Hill City, and Athleta. How does H&M break the child slave labor laws? They had kids working there as young as 14, but they were working 12 hours or more a day.
@Harry Has We completely understand your focus is fashion and you doing and amazing job that's why we are followers. However just do your research unfortunately H&M is not the only fashion company doing this and it's just really sad 😞
H&M are excellent for fit (for my taste anyway). I actually prefer it to ARKET and COS for some items, just for my body type. I find that in ARKET and COS I'm in between sizes on the bulk of items I try on, but when I buy in H&M it fits like a glove most of the time.
@Harry Has 00:23 I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS SWEATER!😫 I ordered this knitted sweater from LightInTheBox over a week ago. I didn't know that they were based in China, nor that there were negative reviews about people not getting what they ordered. I hope I wasn't scammed😫 But either way, I hope to wear this someday!
Im new to fashion/style and brands like h&m are quite nice to try things out and experiement to figure out what you like without spending much money. Then eventually you can upgrade a piece with a higher quality brand.
I have a lot of pieces from H&M and they're good after washing them. Only a long sleeve shirt is a bit weird after washing it like 8 times. But I will still be using it like two years more. 😯 I have jeans from HyM. I paid 12 dollars for one of them. It's 3 years old and I think I'll be wearing it for 2 or 3 years more. 😄
In my opinion I dont think H&M is that bad of a place they do very minimal streetwear clothing, that's affordable and as long as you fit in a stbadard sizing range (S-XL). Perfect for students like me! But, in my opinion especially if you want better quality go on Asos and better size range then asos is a good plac. Brands that are good on Asos is collusion, carhart and then the regular high street brands
for real? i haven’t had that problem at all, the only issue i’ve had is a pair of black pants i bought has started to lose color (you know how some black pants/trousers start looking like they lost their color because of the sun? like they start looking brownish), other than that it’s all still good
@@LuisCastillo-rt5nk probably he bought those sold in bulks (two or more/pack). They do shrink. But, the regular one dont (at least, like u, i also have never experienced it)
I have h and m hoodie, sweat tshirt, tshirts and jogger pants..they are of good quality i didn't see any problem related to quality and brand issue... it's good for mid range brands
I still have a couple items in my closet from H&M lol. My favorite is a hooded bomber jacket that surprisingly fits me perfect from back in 2015. I still have all 3 colors of the first run they did of those zipper pants, I don’t wear them any more but I legit wore them for 3 years and they held up.
H&M is a vendor I've never bought anything from. I used to cruise through, but walked out without a thing. The prices are good, though the quality was always disappointing.
The only thing I have ever bought from HM is a pair of black leather boots, I couldn't find that sillohuete anywhere (only in vegan "leather") and they turned out to be cheap with some coupons , I wear them nearly every day so I'm pretty happy with my boots! Don't know if I would buy clothes tho...
I have only bought 2 pants from H&M because they fit my 24 in waist, otherwise I would've preferred to buy them from elsewhere. I haven't washed them yet so idk how they'll hold up, but I know that most people wash their clothes in HOT and/or wash with it with other materials they shouldn't. Even though H&M is not the best quality they can last a lot longer with cared for properly.
FYI - I didn’t keep anything from this haul

Grey wheel thats for the silver bolt to hold it down
whatd you do with them?
@@KilsE90 he usually sells stuff, I’d imagine in this case he just gave it to goodwill
I can imagine they wouldn’t probably hold up great
I only own their turtlenecks and tanktops and both last for year even tho i wash them after every use and wear them regularly.
@@Ben_S_ I think it depends on the item u bought. I bought their sweatshirts and they’re still good and quite comfy. But I wouldn’t be surprised if other pieces of clothing are worse.
@@calmv_ absolutely, but i wouldn't disregard the entire brand because of it.

I'd love to see a video on fast fashion brands to AVOID so that some of us can avoid wasting our money.
I had planned to do one of those. Pretty much all of them are to avoid
@@jackmanleblanc2518 Don't buy shoes from brands that aren't reputable shoe brands.
@@TheBartek9330 h&m is a giant of fast fashion regardless
@@gleaned3373 True but I don't see anything wrong with it. If something is trendy at the moment i want to get it for cheap instead of paying huge trend tax for those designer brands. @@TheBartek9330 it’s bad because they use terrible materials that are bad for the environment, people also just buy it randomly because it’s cheap and then they throw it out

How many wears and what do you mean by falling apart
@@qase8070 I don’t know, I don’t particularly count. But I’ve worn a pair of H&M jeans for about a year and there’s a hole right below my left knee on the back, don’t know where it came from. Like I said it’s not too bad, though you can kinda tell that it’s not the best of the best Yk?

that just means you have a low standards. H&M still sucks.
@@bradbonarddelacruz2238 That’s cool.
H&M used to be one of my favorite place to shop. But after I realize that Uniqlo sell the best quality of essentials I haven't step my foot on H&M anymore.
Uniqlo hides a lot of plastic fibers and label them heattech or airism which is something i dislike
@@pikachuiswatchingyou Still 10 times better than H&M's business practice if you ask me.
uniqlo is also fast fashion hombre
What brands did you go to after H&M?
You have a black belt in fashion. You videos are quite entertaining and informative for this middle aged guy living in Seattle. I'm actually in the beauty industry and ironically, clothing fashion has always been a bit of a blind spot for me. I love your no-nonsense approach and have found the content from you channel inspiring and valuable. Thank You!
I find H&M to actually have pretty good quality stuff especially for the price. Never had a problem with their jeans, jackets or tees. I think they're especially great if you wanna try a new style of clothing that you aren't sure you'll like or not so you don't wanna spend a lot of money on it.
true, this is how i found my current style and when i can afford, i'll buy higher quality clothes
my h and m jeans always lasted a year max, and i dont do anything crazy in my clothes. Black jeans started to lose color after 2-3 washes

Overall, it’s really not as bad as everyone says, but each to their own
How long do their hoodies, shirts and pants (jeans) last if you wear them regularly? How often do you wash? I'm planning to buy from H&M for college
@@xeyutipe I have a few HM hoodies and they lasted pretty well (I wear them regularly)
Yes mate. I was too. I really liked it. Thanks for watching mate
"nothing's an incredible price if you don't really like it that's just called a waste of money" keeping that in mind everytime i shop now
I think the biggest issue with clothes not lasting is that people dont know how to wash them.
Most people just chuck in everything in the machine.
No matter what your pronouns are!"
They were *incredibly* preachy about how you need to be "moral" and "inclusive" and "stand up for other people!"
But obviously that only counts if your "one of us."
It makes me angry and I hate the freaking double standards here. I haven't gone to an H&M since and I don't really care to ever go there again either. The whole thing was so stupid.
Anyway, that is all.
I've got that oversized sweater it's hella nice! And that bomber look ideal as well. I'm a H&M fiend so I loved watching this!
I laughed at the Winnie the Pooh line! 🤣
Hahaha glad you liked it
I worked at h&m for 3 years and it really helped me change my taste in fashion. For cheap essentials for students it's honestly amazing.
One of my hottest takes is that as far as "quality" you get basically the same from H&M as you get from much more expensive brands. A lot of these looked good and I'm positive they'd last plenty of time.
My only problem with h&m is the stichings, they are so Weak that its just pathetic.
I went into the comments expecting just people talking about the low quality of the clothes but then I saw people saying the clothes broke down
I can certainly say I never had one of my H&M clothes fall apart or anything
Wait... is it just me or none of the clothes I bought from h&m fell apart or fade or come out wrong 💀💀
No, it is much the same for me. I think I just choose selectively, but none of the clothes have fallen apart.
Same
same for me, if u take care of them properly they actually last decently well
Same here
Thing with these fast fashion brands is that eventually u end up spending more money on the long run having a full wardrobe but of cheap looking stuff that after some time you don’t even want to wear again
Thanks a lot. I do like tailored trousers a lot
hey Harry, with the fall and holidays coming up you should do a video on holiday dinner outfits, or thanksgiving outfits, something like that.
I've never understood this obsession with "new clothing look"
I wear my clothes until there's holes in them or the zipper falls off.

I'm confused on how H&M is considered affordable? Its $17 for a standard Shirt,$50+ for cargo pants or varsity jackets and $20-45 for pants. How in the world is it affordable?
I have everything from H&M and my stuff did last for 2 years now
They have some ok base stuff but compared with Uniqlo they are just not for me.
Very nice job, Harry. I've never been in an H&M but I just may walk through one now. Thanks for an excellent review.
I know G star but I haven’t tried their jeans. I’ll give them a go. 🤘
G-star selvedge denim is 🔥 for the price point
I bought that oversized sweatshirt and did not size down. Now im really nervous to recieve the order 💀
The cable knit fit looks great on you!
Thanks for the honest opinion😇
Thanks for watching
Uniqlo is probably the best option now for quality,
Love this type of videos man!
Great to hear mate
H&M has bad quality, but sometimes here and there I found good pieces that lasted long, but that's very rare. 🙂
I remember them being very poor quality.
do we get worse products from H&m compared to what US nd UK get? My regular fit t shirts converts into slim fit tees after few washes and i hate it
@@harshul9408 I'm from the Netherlands, I very rarely buy there now but it used to be a real mixed bag.
@@rajatmaheshwari916 I will be buying the airism oversized one it. I need to save a little for it tho.
Love your delivery.
7:09 the best bomber is the classic Alpha industries jacket
H&M Divide is bad quality, but H&M L.O.G.G. is the best! I still have a kids sized shirt from years ago and I love it. I have some new pants from them and it seems to be holding up quite nicely and it's really comfortable. Best thing is that there are no annoying tags on the clothes.
i stick to uniqlo. durability is great and comfortable. i bought a shirt in HM once. it fall apart after a few weeks
I just buy basics from H&M, Terranova, New Yorker. I jsut look for black and that is on sale, my size. They are good for combining and layering.
What I would like to know.. what pants is Harry wearing before he tries on the black Jeans. I love the Pleat and the zippered pockets are everything!
They are the weekday Ken track pants. I’ve linked them in the description
Harry you look soo stylish in that shirt.
I would definitely shop at those over H&M
you should review the h&m stuff after you washed them (;
This is a good suggestion, my quick prediction is anything that isn't already boxy will look and fit noticeably worse
Uniqlo is more expensive than h&m
I tend to avoid shopping at H&M or other chain stores. They don't offer good quality, only low prices. And I always try to remember that cheap clothes have a hidden price. It is not paid by end users, but by factory workers working for pennies, in terrible conditions, without insurance.
Lol even Louis Vuitton chanel pay peanuts to it's emploice
Close to off-topic, but I happen to have the same problem with the thigh-waist ratio on pants and cannot wear Levi's 501s most of the time for this very reason. Try the 505 instead, it has an almost identical cut, except for a zipper instead of a button fly, and it has more room in the thigh area.
Harry we love you.🧡
However we are kinda shocked you left this out.
H&M is not the only company that violates the child slave labor laws, Gap, Old Navy, Intermix, Hill City, and Athleta. How does H&M break the child slave labor laws? They had kids working there as young as 14, but they were working 12 hours or more a day.
According to my research they publish detailed information about their suppliers and supply chain so I have not heard anything else other than that
@Harry Has We completely understand your focus is fashion and you doing and amazing job that's why we are followers.
However just do your research unfortunately H&M is not the only fashion company doing this and it's just really sad 😞
Hahahaha “whinnie the poo style” cracked me up man
H&M are excellent for fit (for my taste anyway).
Thanks for the scouting report!
Depends what country you buy it in
In my opinion I dont think H&M is that bad of a place they do very minimal streetwear clothing, that's affordable and as long as you fit in a stbadard sizing range (S-XL).
Perfect for students like me! But, in my opinion especially if you want better quality go on Asos and better size range then asos is a good plac. Brands that are good on Asos is collusion, carhart and then the regular high street brands
The real test is what happens to the clothes after you wash them. Everything I've ever bought from H&M shrunk like crazy after the first wash.
for real? i haven’t had that problem at all, the only issue i’ve had is a pair of black pants i bought has started to lose color (you know how some black pants/trousers start looking like they lost their color because of the sun? like they start looking brownish), other than that it’s all still good
@@LuisCastillo-rt5nk probably he bought those sold in bulks (two or more/pack).
Same mostly, so much time wasted in H&M over the years
Timeless pieces like bombers are worth spending as much as possible as they don't go out of style and the more you pay you longer it will last
The only thing I have ever bought from HM is a pair of black leather boots, I couldn't find that sillohuete anywhere (only in vegan "leather") and they turned out to be cheap with some coupons , I wear them nearly every day so I'm pretty happy with my boots! Don't know if I would buy clothes tho...
Where are the black pleated trousers from my man? 🔥 video as always
Weekday. Linked in the description 👍🙏
Harry’s bicep vein poppin in this vid
In New Zealand, my favourite affordable clothing store is Cotton On, they do really nice pieces but it’s extremely basic
