I love the build up in his monologue. He starts chilled, talking slowly and almost whispering, but as he keeps talking he gets more and more excited. A great npc that I would have loved to see more of in the game.
I kind of agree, but honestly I think sometimes I prefer the charm of a character who is quite mysterious and does not speak much. At the very least, we get a lot of great dialogue from Yura before he becomes Shabriri.
This guy was incredibly eerie as he was a very real, very worldly evil. Beyond the campiness and performance of evil we see in fables, his was a seductive, compelling and reasoned manipulation, which some less discerning individuals would likely fall victim to. He creeped me out and I immediately ended him.
Everyone talks about his delivery of "May chaos take the world!" but for me, the best delivery is "Burn the Erdtree to the ground, and incinerate all that divides and distinguishes." May chaos take the world, Lord of Frenzied Flame
In a world where Dung Eater exists, Shabriri is the one who has the title of "most hated man in the world". Am I supposed to believe him when he says that Yura gave him his body willingly?
@ShirakiAkarin well yura was being plagued by madness by the time you fight the raptor. He may have entered a pact with shabriri or was just possessed
it blew my mind. it felt so unnatural and surreal, i couldn't fully compute that yura was dead and that it was no longer him in that vessel. i was so invested it almost made me feel sick. yura's death was tragic, and his body couldn't even rest in peace, being puppeteered by something so outer-worldly. and if you slay the body, shabriri just drops it like it's nothing, only to move on and take another body any time he pleases. what a horrible thing to ponder
Ikr?? What makes it even cooler is how you can slightly hear Yura when his voice is more soft, which ties into the fact that it’s Yura body that Shabriri took over, however Shabriris way of talking shifted it completely. And when Shabriri gets more excited when talking about the flame of frenzy you can’t hear Yura at all anymore. The VA did an incredible job, and I had no idea it was the same voice actor until I looked it up, that’s also when I actually heard the slight similarity in voice.
That voice acting, man. It's just magnificent. I gotta say that so far this game has just amazing voice acting, fat better than in their previous games. Yura/Shabriri, Gideon Ofnir, Narrator, Dung Eater, Seluvis, Margit and Morgott... No count for them.
I thoroughly explore during my first playthrough and as I learned more and more about madness, chaos and Shabriri, I got fascinated by that part of the world. I found Three Fingers before Shabriri and had no idea you could talk to him, so there was only his set on the ground. This questline coincided so perfectly with my plan to play dex/faith build for the first time in soulslikes. I got Vyke's spear, madness incantations and now I find Shabriri's set?! You know it I have been cosplaying him since then! What a fantastic playthrough, man. And along with the best ending imo.

To be fair he didn't fool vyke. Vyke simply wasn't strong enough to become elden lord. Vyke strayed from the path. Chaos is pretty much a grey ending. There's no good or evil about it. It's simply returning the power back to the original great one
I feel like this is the type of opinion someone who says that age of dark is the bad ending for dark souls would have. But, I'm not yet elden ring lore expert. Only saying that "destroying all that divides and distinguishes" sounds much better than installing another lord, or more golden order.
Shabriri isn't a name fromsoft made up and is in fact a demon from Jewish folklore who was associated with blindness. Which makes the Frenzied Flame's connection with eyes give a lot sense now with the outside context
Fun fact about the voice actor its sean dooley who is also the guy who played greg the social worker in the british tv show misfits he was also in the demon 79 episode of black mirror where he played len fisher Its a weird hobby of mine finding out what other roles va's did haha
I mean it's not weird at all imo. If you like the voice job then of course you can be curious and maybe want to find more of their work. I do that too alot.
Shabriri is such an interesting character that we must know now about in the DLC. He talks with just slur and flirt, in his words about burning existence he still finds a way to sweet talk you into actually considering. He's smart, charismatic, strong. The perfect man to stoke the yellow chaos flames.
I have been in love with NPCs. I miss virtual places I have never seen IRL. Never was as close to actually join a friggin' CHaOs cULt. Thank you again, Miyazaki san. Thanks again From Soft and all your Coops. Deliver us from the Collectathon.
The nature of Shabriri is one i compare to a servant of The King in Yellow. He is an Agent of Madness. Through inspiring despair and hardship in the Tarnished, he seeks to drive one to become Lord of Chaos.
Melina is cringe regardless, so who cares. even if you subdue the frenzied flame after buring the tree she wont return or say anything about it. its because she only cares about *her* being the sacrifice.
Ranni’s actions in the night of the black knives, particularly the fate of Godwyn, are unforgivable in nature. Better to correct it along with every curse and sin, wash it away in noble chaos flame.
Something that I appreciate about this delivery. It's easy to deliver it in the usual, stereotypical, evil, villain-like manner. But this one sounds calm, cold, unsettling, and dark. Because he's talking about the end of all life cycles, which probably makes this ending, the darkest of all. And this voice actor delivered his lines like a messenger of death, it's chilling and scary.
His arguments are rational, empathetic at first but then I think somewhere near the end there he kind of gave away hes a zealot and doesnt really care about the girl lmao
He seemed so compassionate to help us spare Melina at first, then he went all manic at the end 😂 Oh well, I’ll remember his words the next time I nuke the NCR and Legion again. May chaos take… the world!
Shabriri is the devil, with his eloquence, appearance of a well loved and trusted old friend Yura, and false concerns about the girl, gets you to beleive that he cares for the well being of others, just to tell you right after that the way of frienzied flame is the the "rightful path". that bringing chaos, suffering and despair for everyone is the way to go. that if YOU are not happy, EVERYONE else should suffer.
blasphemy, shabriri is a kind hearted soul who would never do anyone harm. It is his dream to rid the world of suffering by burning everything away, including all that divides us. After all, the only way to truly end suffering is to get rid of everything capable of suffering.
His point is that everyone is suffering already. It's a twisted, broken world with monsters and curses around every corner. So why not burn the whole thing down? No slaves, no gods, just level everything. Not my favorite ending but it is interesting.
When I first met him when he said "may chaos take the world." I just thought of the Demons of chaos from DS but then I find out it's all the more sinister.

Those who said Melina was just a spirit has no physical body and no one can see her or some shits has been debunked by Sharbriri here. If Melina truly had no physical body as they say, then how do you explain Shabriri who is telling you not to sacrifice the girl so that you can become a lord knows the existence of Melina in the first place?
Cuz, only people in search of burning the Erdtree would even dare to go to the mountaintops, and to do so, the maiden needs to be sacrificed. He doesn't know who you maiden is, he just asumes that you do have one and is why you're there. That's how he corrupted Vyke, he knew he had a maiden and Shabriri whispered sweet lies about saving his maiden if he became Frenzied Lord. And Melina herself says she doesn't have physical body, so is a confirmed fact, but i doubt that it means that nobody can see her, when she is visible for us, it just happens that she becomes invisible/some kind of energy since she fades away except when we are in sites of grace, so to more people to see her, they would have to be with us when we sit in a site of grace or while we are in Leyndell.
@@KaraSub2.0 That is a mystery that doesn't have an answer yet, many (myself included) assume she is the Gloam Eyed Queen. i didn't really care about the Frenzied Flame ending at all, but when he said "Spare the poor girl," I was convinced. The path of the Frenzied Flame is a path of self-sacrifice, which is far more honorable than sacrificing Melina, even though she wants to be used. It also puts an end to the suffering of all those in the lands between who cannot die. Gigachad ending
Except, not everyone wants to die, births continue because life doesn't want to die out, Marika broke the world by removing death from the elden ring, but not everything is so closed minded, you can have death restored with Fia's ending, the dungeater ending can restore the crucuble and stop the cicle of reincarnation, you can remove the elden ring entirely with Ranni's ending, here, you're just being selfish, it is not a ending of self-sacrifice, since even if the people are suffering, happy, conformable, doesn't matter since EVERYONE except YOU dies.
I don't think there's anything honourable in sparing Melina, and you are not 'saving' her, because using herself as kindling is her purpose for being there to begin with, that's what she is for. It's like refusing to have kids with your wife to spare her from the pain of childbirth. She doesn't even feel anything when she's burning. It's not a gigachad ending, its a brainwashed into a cult ending lol
