Long live flatfenders!
OllllllO
Subscribed! I'm in the central Texas hill country. I have a `48 CJ2A and an `85 CJ7. I'm looking forward to seeing this channel grow.
So glad I found your site!!!!! I have a 1942 Willys Mb, issued to the Canadian Military, it’s NOT pretty, but it’s mine
I’ve got 6 in Elko NV. Cool channel looking forward to it.
What a great first episode!
I own a 1945 MB, 1952 M38, and my dad has a 1943 GPW. We work on all kinds of vehicles, but always find ourselves coming back to jeeps.
If you're looking for more content for your channel, there's a BIG jeep community in Northeast Ohio. I can put you in touch with some up and coming vendors that sell the parts to keep these jeeps going - I'll bet they'd love the shout-out!
I also have proof that the Jeep name didn't actually belong at first to the 1/4 ton vehicle we know and love...it belonged to Dodge military trucks!
My first Jeep was a 64 Willys CJ-6. My current project is a 52 Willys pickup. Subscribed #484.
I've got a 1965 Willy's jeep cj6 with the half steel cab.
Once again, thank you so much for letting me edit this first episode. It has been a blast going through soooooo much footage of all of the meetings.
I loved this episode. I was also happily greeted by the host using the name Willies rather than Willis. I was born in the fifties and my grandfather had many Jeeps, he as well as the rest of the world pronounced Willys, Willies. Growing up there were many Jeeps around, flat fenders as well as "Billy Jack" types, invariably they were referred to as Willies. Stone, Woods and Cook campaigned a Willies gasser. The Grateful Dead sang, "jumps like a Willies in 4-wheel drive". EVERYONE called these vehicles Willies. Then, along comes RUclips and someone sees an old commercial for Willys-Overland in which the announcer refers to the company as Willis-Overland. They apparently relish the opportunity to point out that everyone is incorrectly pronouncing the name. Why? What is to be gained? I'm sure that if you asked the man who started the company if he objected, he would probably reply "Who cares as long as they buy the cars". Think of Willies as a nickname for a beloved vehicle if that makes you feel better, but I doubt that the pronunciation Willies will (or should) disappear. So please, to all of you out there in RUclips land, please stop with the corrections, what you're saying may be correct, but I'm willing to bet that the nickname will continue long into the future.
Very cool. Cant wait for more episodes!!
Man this was awesome!!! I was so excited for this to air. Thanks so much for inviting me out to be apart of it. Can’t wait to see how the shows progress.
Great much anticipated first episode. Nice work Dane 👍
I started to watch this video, but stopped it 6 seconds in when he said "Welcome to WILLIEZ World.
I own 2 Willys , a 61 CJ5 and a 1959 FC170 DRW. where are you in the world? I am in southern MO in the Ozarks.
Subbed an' wavin' from the Black Hills, S.D. '48 Cj2A & '49 CJ3A, '89 XJ
Way to go Dane ! Best of luck with the channel !
Sweet
fantastic! well done
🤩😁
Awesome video I love this
Good Man
Awesome 😎
How does one make a channel about Willy's and mispronounce the name within the first two seconds?
Who cares .. half the country pronounces it wrong either way you look at it. 😂 the point is we all love Flat fender Jeeps!
@@wakenya77 I suppose I do. If you're grateful to the person who gave you the Jeep, the least you could do is pronounce his namesake right.
