What's amazing to me is this wonderful old tractor made life easier for the farmers. Glad to see it running, and I'm impressed with the startup, he made it look easy. Love the old iron, tractors, cars, ships, planes, anything old. Those folks worked hard to survive, made it easy for us.
We have one here on the farm that I haven't seen run since I was a kid . Always made me think I was gonna piss my pants when it ran ! Your video makes me want to go out to the barn and give her a try 😎👍
So, not a good get-away vehicle then! Jokes aside, brilliant video this is. I have a 1903 curvedash Oldsmobile which also requires around 20 mins prep from cold to start and drive it. We need more youngsters like us to take interest in these historic vehicles if we’re to keep history alive for other who don’t have or can’t afford something old as a hobby. It’s so important to preserve history. Thanks for sharing this with us all! Peace and love from GB
My great-great-grandfather bought one of these for $1,000 in 1916. First tractor our family ever owned. My great-grandpa always talked about how much of a pain it was to start, and I can certainly see why.
I purchased an old farm site turned into an acreage a number of years back and dug up a Titan hand crank while landscaping. It has a crack in it with a slight bend and the number *_1660 TM,_* an *_IHC_* emblem and the words... *_" Retard - Spark - Before - Starting "_* on it. Looks to be made from cast so could easily be heated, rebent and welded. Nice Tractor you have their and started easy and ran like a top. 👍 I have a couple of IHC's on steel as well a 15-30, and a 22-36... late twenties, early 30's and both run.
I would say most were used for plowing. This one was used mostly for belt work. I can tell because the drawbar holes are still nice and round and the wheel bearings are still tight. Plowing just beat the crap out of them.
Nothing like a 20 step process to get it started. Great video. The first tractor the Purdue research bought was in 1922 and it was a Titan 10-20. You've done a good job showing would it would be like to start and drive the tractor. Do you know how much were these tractors used to pull equipment in the field like a disk or plow or were they used more for stationary purposes? Jeff
Could you imagine using that for field work lol. Just imagine, at some point in history, a farmer traded in his horse for that, and was mighty proud to have it. He was like finally something that don’t require breaks, food, and I don’t have to clean up after it, and it won’t go lame lol.
Beautiful start up, on the first turn. I would call that a real treasure. I assume, since I saw no fresh paint, and did see a good bit of rust, not much has been replaced on it.
Hello, did you know that titan has been produced in Poland since 1922 under license by the Ursus brand. It was the first tractor produced in Poland, about 100 pieces were created, unfortunately only a few survived to this day.
Built in the days when engineers used slide rules and allowed for greater factor of safety when designing engines because they really didn't trust the materials. "Does that web look thick enough to you? Hell, no - put another 1/8" on it.! Build it big, build it strong and put plenty oil on it. This was before computer design and profit margins.
They were made to be more than just a tractor they actually used them to run other equipment. Like a saw mill my grandfather had ! They used leather belts . Could run water pumps and all sorts of stuff.
Iv'e heard many hunters say, "Dumb farmers" when they wouldn't let them hunt on their land. Knowing they have no Knowledge of crop rotation, animal husbandry or how to start and use a fucking tractor, let alone a team of horses. I was raised on a dairy farm but know how to harvest white tails and any other animal that lives in Upstate New York. I was raised in a different time.
Wow and they were pioneers of farm tractors . With all the odds and ends that make this machine run and work ,I wonder how many of these machines were actually built ?

Superb !! An absolutely fascinating tractor!! 👏

Thats a really neat story! Thanks for sharing.
Great job Buddy. You did that like one of the old timers from back in the day. That old tractors run super.
This is why I love old machinery !! 👍👍🤩

Great video! So nice to see it survived without being restored.

You are an absolute wizard the way you started and handled this rust bucket.
Great explaination of the starting process. Thanks for sharing!
If only modern engines were that easy to start after 100 years.

Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
A beautiful piece of history.
Love the sound of that machine!
There are a couple of these in Bristol (England),,both can be seen at local ploughing matches, thanks for showing
Smooth running.

...but does the tractor love you back?
Thats awsome 😃😃
Very cool definitely a working museum piece.
Great video.
Wonderful thank you for the video
That's a beauty 👍
she fired up beautifully
She’s a beauty! Wouldn’t want to use it for a getaway vehicle though.
Now that is pretty damn cool man
Beautiful start up, on the first turn. I would call that a real treasure. I assume, since I saw no fresh paint, and did see a good bit of rust, not much has been replaced on it.
Tires alone are flat proof 👍
Cool tractor
This is crying out for a restoration. It's impressive now, it would be awesome all restored.
Its worth more all original like this.
What a interesting machine
Purrs like a kitten
Haha Bill. That would be an interesting show!
Jesus that’s some start procedure!!!
Beauty Machine
Nice!! I have a 1917.

Nice tractor
With the scary starting position, if someone leaves the gear engaged, a serious accient is imminent.
You can't crank it over if it is in gear...
Geiles 👍👍👍Maschinchen .
Would need a check list .
magic

🚜🚜👍
Thanks!
pretty impressive.....you almost need a checklist like in an airplane prior to start
Imagine working that bastard out in a field all day…
If only all old iron started that easily!
They were made to be more than just a tractor they actually used them to run other equipment. Like a saw mill my grandfather had ! They used leather belts . Could run water pumps and all sorts of stuff.
just as Nat Bolduc said: he surmises his tractor was mostly used for belt work!
Is this the model with the automatic gps guided steering?
Health and saftey would have a fit
Chaz
Yes RAa yes
wow shes tip top shape.
Keep Manhattan just give me that countryside.
The health and safety bods must of lived on tranquilizers in those days
They just didn’t exist
No flat tires with the IHC Titan 10-20!
Amazing tractor! What’s the hp rated at?
20hp belt pulley, 10 hp at the draw bar
@@garagegnome1
Thanks N8
Hell, it starts easier than any IHC I ever owned, F 20s & 30s, B H & Cub
It is a great starting tractor!
I think its a tractor, it's a great vehicle and how old is this tractor please let me know
1918
Not knowing how to do all of that was the anti theft device.
damn! I know people who moan about not having a heated steering wheel!😀

Please, could you give me the dimensions of the crank please? I'm missing the crank for my Titan 1916. Thanks in advance
I can get those for you.
@@garagegnome1 Hi, how can you get me a crank for my TITAN please? I live in France.
where to find a crank for TITAN please? I have a TITAN 1916. Thanks in advance
There was someone reproducing them on eBay a while ago.
I have a recast crank
THATS N O T the PTO side. That's the PULLEY Side. I don't think that tractor had a PTO
If you don't use that pulley to 'take power off' the tractor then what do you use to power other machinery?
Wow and they were pioneers of farm tractors . With all the odds and ends that make this machine run and work ,I wonder how many of these machines were actually built ?
75,000 were made.
