Coming from hammer sdk and really appreciating the simplicity of it my mind is being blown every thirty seconds with what these new tools can do. I have A LOT to learn. 😅
I think, it would be quite heavy for compiling that into BSP, but, as for making a concept model, and then exporting that blockout to 3d package, and making a model out of it, would be just fantastic for optimization needs!
@@eagleonedevelopmentteam849 Actually, I was wrong about BSP strucutre for Source 2. I am old map maker, and used for BSP-like way of making mays, however while making my map for CS2, I investigated documentation, and it turns out, that Source made an incredible thing, they moved away from BSP structure, and the mesh you do in Hammer, is being compiled into a model, not bsp brush? which provides more freedom
@@eagleonedevelopmentteam849 Glad to hear it. With CS2 incoming, there's gonna be a lot of new interest in source 2 hammer. As someone just getting started, it's going to be great to see a whole new wave of material to help us learn.
@@eagleonedevelopmentteam849 If you are taking requests by any chance, a deeper tutorial on terrain would be greatly appreciated. That's been for me to get looking nicely.
@@sleepnaught I'll do a new one when they update the displacement tools - for now if you check out the CRASH COURSE series that we have you will find terrain tutorials on there that apply :)
What are you doing at 1:25? I can't seem to get the same result using the Bevel tool on CS2 Hammer. I'm talking about when the audio says "extrude these faces easily"
Does smoothing normals adjust in game hitboxes? Also can i install the cs editor if i don't have access to cs yet? I own HLA. I don't know if there will be major differences with entities and such.
Smoothing normals won't affect the collisions that are generated. If you dont have CS2 thats fine, you can make everything in HLA and then when its time bring it over to CS2. The entities will be different however the meshwork will be fine
@@eagleonedevelopmentteam849 Seething aside, fantastic tutorial! Love this new series, so many great nuggets of wisdom packed into such a short time span, you guys rock!!
I've never seen such a detailed environment created with only meshes. Very impressive.
Thank you S2 Hammer makes it so powerful!
I mean, Hammer 5 is basically modeling tool.

Yes! More Hammerhead please these have been so helpful especially since info on source 2 hammer is so scarce it feels like.
More to come!
This is crazy good! I'm really amazed how much hammer has evolved compared to the original Source. Thanks for this video, I can't wait for more :D

I wish TF2 had these tools. Would be a game changer to be able to quickly make environments like this.
Valve made maps on s2 and backported them into s1
Incredible. Are these tools even comparable to anything else on the market?
Personally Source 2 has the best toolset of any engine out there
Another banger tutorial from cinnamonhaha
Thank you!
