- How did a 1980 volcanic eruption change our understanding of geology? What impact did this event have on the age assignments of sediments?
Join us for episode 23 of The Creation Podcast to commemorate the 42nd anniversary of the eruption of Mount St. Helens. Host Ivana Semidey and ICR geologist Dr. Tim Clarey discuss the surprising discoveries made from observing the eruption, and how this volcano confirmed the feasibility of catastrophic geology and provided compelling evidence of rapid deposition.

Excellent episode 👏
I lived in Oregon during this and so this was so interesting to listen to!!! I love how science keeps confirming what God tells us in His Word!
I was near the base of the mountain May 1st 1980 and in Kennewick when it erupted on the 18th. Amazing its considered a small eruption. We got two inches of ash two hundred miles away.
Volcanic ash + plants + heat = coal within 1-2 weeks
Mt St Helen, with its "mini big bang," also teaches us that explosions do not bring order. Yet our universe is a cosmos.
Well said. :)
Yes very informative and interesting 🤗 APR4USA 🇺🇸
I was 21 then. Expected the mountain to do something, but was NOT expecting THAT😮
That's a great thumbnail.

Great information about the sediments left behind and their depths of 20 to 40 feet. All those buried civilizations in Turkey they have discovered were probably the result of floods or volcanoes. Gobekli Tepe when discovered archeologist said the people covered it up with dirt to conceal the site. Can't you just imagine how many baskets of dirt and years that took, hah!
So good!
Have you thought about adding your videos to Rumble as well. It sure would be nice to see your channel there.
I agree!
Most interviewers don't say, "right" or a "ah ha." Just let him talk.
Good for the interviewer; in the Christian environment, "right " or "ah ha" is the equivalent to "amen", "amen".
She is a good representative of the people watching the video.
