Very impressive! I've seen lots of DIY built in videos like this but yours is the most budget friendly version I've seen! Using the prefab bookshelves and using the bead board instead of a more expensive wood were so creative! By the time you added the trim and painted all the same color it looks as fabulous as the more expensive versions! Green is a hard color to pick! I picked almost the same dark green shade for my lower kitchen cabinets and then repainted it with a new color that looks very similar to yours. It's still not exactly what I was going for but it's staying, ha!
thank you! we were on a very tight budget, so we literally just used what we could 🤷🏼♀️ green is sooo hard to pick! i feel the SAME way. i’m still not sold on this lighter green but i mean i’m committed at least for the next few months now 😅😂
it still works! we can still open/close it. we also left a little gap between the trim and the ceiling for ventilation. we haven’t had any problems with it!
It’s looking great!!! We want to do a built in similar to this is our family room as a built in media center. Can’t wait to see the final reveal. Are you going to move your air vent out a little so you can add another piece or trim at the top to fill that tiny gap? We had a similar issue when we had our butlers pantry built and it didn’t seem like a big deal to move the vent a tad…but it also wasn’t me doing it…
so we were thinking about it, but we decided to leave that tiny gap at the top for ventilation! the tiniest part of the vent is covered, but it’s still accessible to open/close if needed. the tiny gap doesn’t really bother us & it makes us feel better to know that there’s proper air flowing in & out of the built ins. it probably doesn’t make much of a difference but just for a piece of mind for our sake ☺️
I was so excited for this video and you did not disappoint 👏🏼 Kenzie this is just AMAZING 🤯 You guys killed it! I wish I could build something like this lol 😂 Can’t wait for part 2!
dont know if you said something about it in the video and i missed it but i immediately thought that changing the doors to pocket doors would be amazing. then they wouldnt swing into the room and would allow more functional space!
Master carpenter told me not to " choke " the hammer. Your hand grips the end of the hammer which lets the weight of the hammer do the work of setting the nail. Wish I had known that before I laid a sub floor down!
I know you put in the cabinets, then did the floor, but you should have done the floor in the entire room, even under the cabinets. the flooring would have only added 3/4 in max to the height.
This is looking so nice, I'm just not understanding how two people are going to be able to work at that desk! The opening where you'd put the chairs looks too small to me!
simply because our room was 100 square feet and we only had about 96 square feet of flooring! so we didn’t have enough and didn’t want to buy a whole extra pack for just a few feet. we also didn’t want the desk to be too high, and the flooring took off about 1/2 inch of height 🤗
I don't even know where to start. 1. You show no sanding being done. 2. No pre-treatment of the wood done. 3. No primer used (no, all-in-one paint/primer does NOT count). 4. You partially blocked the side window. 5. You partially blocked the air vent. 6. Why would you use a miter saw instead of a circular saw for the desktop? Are you a glutton for punishment? 7. The top trim is a flimsy joke. God help the next homeowner who goes to run electrical through there and has it collapse. This is the poster child for everything wrong with DIY videos on RUclips. One of the worst ever, so much so that I'm blocking the entire channel. Unbelievable.
Why would you use sink base cabinets instead of regular cabinet with a drawer? I can tell this is an absolute, inexperienced, DIY job. Why paint in place instead of painting outside. Why not take the doors of the cabinets off to make it easier to paint
i feel like this first part took foreverrrr to finish but i'm so glad it's done! what do we think so far?! 🤗
The Floridian in me is freaking out about blocking the air vent lol
Hey, you covered your vent! How are you heating and cooling that room? Move your vent. Everything else looks great.
love it!!! Good choice with the second color, it's so soft and beautiful.

it still works! we can still open/close it. we also left a little gap between the trim and the ceiling for ventilation. we haven’t had any problems with it!

girl you are the best!! thanks for being here, ev! 😊
dont know if you said something about it in the video and i missed it but i immediately thought that changing the doors to pocket doors would be amazing. then they wouldnt swing into the room and would allow more functional space!

aw thanks!! 🫶🏼
Where did you buy the cabinets?
It looks like you’re in N. Idaho! Like in our neighborhood almost 🤣😂
What brand and color are your floors, looks great!
antique by paradigm!
What size cabinets did use for base?
here are the dimensions for the cabinets we used: 36-in W x 35-in H x 23.75-in
Hello, Congratulations Cool 👍👏👏👏👏
Master carpenter told me not to " choke " the hammer. Your hand grips the end of the hammer which lets the weight of the hammer do the work of setting the nail. Wish I had known that before I laid a sub floor down!
Did I miss in the video why you bought sink bases instead of regular base cabinets with a functioning drawer?
just because it was cheaper and we were on a budget! :)
I know you put in the cabinets, then did the floor, but you should have done the floor in the entire room, even under the cabinets. the flooring would have only added 3/4 in max to the height.
why cover the heat and AC duct?
This is looking so nice, I'm just not understanding how two people are going to be able to work at that desk! The opening where you'd put the chairs looks too small to me!
I was wondering the same🤔
Removing the doors would’ve made it easier and better coverage.
I dont understand why the flooring was not all the way under the built in
simply because our room was 100 square feet and we only had about 96 square feet of flooring! so we didn’t have enough and didn’t want to buy a whole extra pack for just a few feet. we also didn’t want the desk to be too high, and the flooring took off about 1/2 inch of height 🤗
LIKE👍👍👍👍👍 💥💯💥💯💥 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Cabinets like this need to be sprayed, not rolled or brushed.

Wow… too bad you weren’t there to help
