"The Foggy Dew"- Irish Rebel Song (Rare Version)

- "Foggy Dew" is the name of several Irish ballads, and of an Irish lament. The song chronicles the Easter Rising of 1916, and encourages Irishmen to fight for the cause of Ireland, rather than for the British Empire, as so many young men were doing in World War I.

Ulster is Irish
I never heard a dubliner's version of this. Absolutely fantastic
I think more war/patriotic/folk songs ought to be sung like this in general, this style is about as authentic as it can get, no great and coordinated instrumentals nor even that much rehearsal, just guys singing with real emotion
Today is Easter, this commemorates the Easter rising of 1916.
Ah, Luke! (Lukie, my dad calls him with great fondness. He got to see him in concert at least once). Every song I hear him sing is the best version of it. Talk about talent! Had he been born somewhere else he could’ve been a virtuoso in the opera, and it would have been glorious. (Not saying that would be better, just that his voice, the tone, the strength of it is that remarkable.)
Luke Kelly is great, And this is my favourite song. To hear such a nice recording of a song with a story such as this one from where i live, I love this. You are such an underrated channel, I hope you end up as big as Ingen one day, or even bigger.
Luke Kelly's voice is always musuc to my ears
This is the best version of this song.
I first heard this being sung by various rock artists, and I fell in love with the song. But this version, I think I love more, because it's just one or two guys singing with a deep passion that needs no extra instruments to back it up. The rock versions I absolutely still jam out to, but this one strikes my soul and sends a chill through my spine. I can't really describe it as well as I want to, but I've never been that good at crafting my words.
One of my most favourite irish songs
For my Great Grandfather Donnelly. 🇮🇪
Those heros of 1916 would be ashamed of the clowns in government today
Simply beautiful. Speaks volumes to me as a Pole
Best version imo
