The reason that the radar is sometimes called B004 and sometimes called V004 is because the "B" in the Cyrillic (russian) alphabet in the Latin alphabet, is actually a "V". So B004 is with the Cyrillic letter and V004 with the corresponding letter from the Latin alphabet.

Khod (thermal pod) was produced (5 total) for Su-25T and Su-39 and it didn't get added in-game
(bug report rejection reason, no plans to add thermal pods)

Even without pod it will probably be fine. The Kh-38MTs give you thermals, apparently it can carry 6. Russian TV/IIR weapons are not nearly as bad to use as NATO counterparts without targeting pod, because you actually get variable zoom and in some cases color camera, and in case of the 38, thermals too.
Not to mention you can get much closer to the battlefield (12km) without having to worry about SPAA at all.

The V004 uses a massive passive electronically scanned array (PESA) antenna and operates in the X band. It's just a fat Sukhoi, it won't fly better than any Flanker. Evading SAM isn't really a big deal either especially when you have ample time to make an evasion. What's actually funny with that is the fact that particular aircraft had to rely on some AWACS/GCI to make that evasion which makes it actually worse when you think about it.

I like his channel and it´s one of my main sources of news together with TEC, but watching his Mig-29SMT videos left a sour taste. His opinion about the aircraft changed 3 or 4 times within like 3 months it seemed and with each "change" he released a new video contrary to the previous. After watching all his videos about it I still don´t know what to expect, but I´m grinding it either way so I´ll find out soon enough. Still one of the best channels imo, at least as long as you take everything with a grain of salt.

It's close in dogfights with F-16 if you know how to fly it, and worse in BVR since F-16 has better acceleration, better top speed, better climb rate and can throw an AIM-120 at higher speed (higher energy). Even in ground RB the F-16C can do just as good.

Ability to engage 10 targets simultaneously. JHMCS. That's pretty damn powerful when the Russians are in a technological black hole through the 90s and as such are waiting for Russia to hit the 2010s to finally have the ability to match the US in part.
I say in part. As of right now the Chinese J-10A is all that is propping RedForce up. The Su-27SM might carry 8 R-77 but it can only guide 2 to targets and if any more missiles are fired, the first 2 go blind.
This severe limitation presents a competitive problem for the game. It's why you don't see a change in ARB mode. Russia is literally spraying and praying missiles hoping to hit something after blind firing in BVR mode. Russia needs the clusterfuk of small maps and lots of enemies in that small area just to cope.
The F-18C opens the gap between US and RedForce even more than previous jets like the F-15C and that jet vs the J-11A was insane.
RedForce is riding on the gimped Mig-29SMT and 4 missile datalink limit and J-10A and it's datalink limit.
It NATO got the F-18C with this update and RedForce got no counter, it would end the game.
But RedForce does advance, they jump from being gimped to actually good radars and radar control computers with PESA radar, it's like going from the stone age to space age at the snap of a finger.
The Su-27SM with an 80s radar to the Su-27SM3 and Su-35 with advanced PESA radars just like that. Gonna change detection and engagement capabilities instantly.

Yep. The SU27 doesn’t even have its wing ecm pods, the F15 also has an internal jammer, the JF17 has an external jammer that can put on. The M2k also has ecm… so many jets that are missing them.

War Thunder has always been paper fiction and it has never claimed to be a simulation. People get carried away thinking about realism, especially since there´s "realistic" and "simulation" mode, but irl there is no scenario in which 16v16 vehicles encounter each other in an otherwise sterile environment so this whole realism thought is pointless from the very beginning.

At 9:18 in the cockpit pilot side I believe it shows a radar point downwards, im not sure if its a second radar though it would make sense to reuse older radars for watching your back instead of using a hmd cause it can't maneuver as well idk tho

Su-34 definitely has thermal. The specific targettings system is even known.

@@daft9099 Canards is *not* for high AoE, it's to balance the center of aerodynamics with the weight shift from the massive oversized radar, cockpit, and armour in the nose. Same thing with Su-30 and 33. Su-35S does not need canards to be supermanueverable because it's a vanilla Flanker airframe with composites in some places to make it lighter.

12:27 You could also add UMPK ( gliding ) and UMPB ( gliding + booster ) bombs to the list , Su-34 was the first platform to use them operationally .

My assessment is based on inspection of the aircraft , there is no MAW installed on the Su-34 , MAW are based on IR/UV sensors not radar. Italy never used the f/a-18, spain isn’t a subtree under italy any more than finland is under france (they both have 1 borrowed ground vehicle), and italy doesn’t need filler as they already have a extremely good top tier aircraft.

Now that I think about it, they should've just went and upgraded with the Su-30's as they are the true multirole Flankers. Su-30 with canards and TVC, tandem arrangement, perfect for air-air, and air-ground. Su-34 is redundant and feels unnecessary, and looks complicated with the dual seat arrangement.

I'm almost certain the Flanker's Canards aren't for maneuverability, rather for stability. Look at the versions who have them, the Su-30/34 which are two seaters and heavier on the nose. They also seem to deflect counter to the attitude of the plane, pitching down when the plane is pulling up.

Aim-120s are better than R-77s and Aim-9Ms has the best IRCM in the game for less maneuverable over the R-73

To flight performance: Unlike any other Flanker (or any combat aircraft) this airframe can withstand only 5G load. Source is a documentary, don't remember which one.
@@CounterfeitDuck 5g is the most recommended load, not maximum. F4 phantom can pull only 7-ish G due to manual and look at it in the game
@@10TonneSkeletonand it’s not 5G but 7.5G for the Su-34 as well (4.5G with full loadout so with 8 tons of different munitions on its wings and with 12 tons of fuel. But anyway we don’t have any restrictions/mechanics ingame that would affect max G depending on wing load otherwise F-16’s with 6 missiles and wing mounted fuel tanks would rip every time it pulls over 6G and same goes for pretty much any other aircraft such as F-15’s, MiG-29’s, Su-27’s etc)

It's because the Su-33 was basically abandoned by Russia. They should have added it and the F18A back with the fox 1s. Now as a top tier the 33 is kinda junk, radar is not fox 3 compatible and it's heavy AF! Look cool 😎 though. We probably gonna see a Su-30 at Christmas patch!

shooting missiles backwards is not a thing, from a physics standpoint alone already.
It is possible. It costs a lot of energy, but as an example, the AIM-9X and the F-35 can do it with the lock-on after launch of the AIM-9X. FOX 3 can do the same over a data link.
