  • Everyone feels worried and anxious sometimes, but for those who have Anxiety and Panic Disorder, the word "worry" takes on a whole new meaning. And because of the way so many people talk (or don't talk) about mental health, admitting you deal with Anxiety and Panic Disorder can be overwhelming. So let's change that. Let's start a new conversation around mental health that doesn't make anyone feel less than because of who they are. I hope that my "virtual panic attack" can help you feel less alone in what you're going through, or bring some insight to those who want to learn more about mental health issues. #newagecreators

I was scared to just watch this video because I thought I'd have a panic attack. Honestly I paused it when you started the tapping and came back later.

I had to pause the video when the dripping began. i just got up like 'well, I can't handle that' and did stuff before I felt ready to watch the video. Admit I skipped the explanations on anxiety and panic attacks.

I almost did tbh like I never usually get panic attacks but then I was like oh I can handle it but then it just kept going faster and I was like oh sh*t and she was like you get sweaty and hotter and I was boiling and I was freaking out a bit but I took a deep breath and stopped thinking about it for a while

My mom used to get mad at me for being anxious because she thought anxiety was a choice and that I could easily control it.
Nowadays she understands a small bit better but I still find it hard to talk to non-anxious people about it because they can't seem to grasp it, really.
I have a tip for you guys out there struggling: anxiety is that trigger of flight-or-fight reflex even when there's no danger. So whenever I feel anxious for no reason, I try to get up and walking. Fast. Like I was just lying on the couch, feeling anxious, so I took a jog into the next room and back until the feeling was gone. It actually worked pretty well!
So like if you're in class or a work situation and feeling anxious, ask to go to the bathroom and walk there as fast as possible and then jog in place when you get there. Works wonders for me.

      @jayfel104 8 лет назад +13

I do that a lot as well. When I would get a panic attack in the classroom, I'd take a minute to walk around the hallways to get my blood flowing again. Majority of the time it worked, but sometimes I couldn't return to class because I was too overwhelmed. But tomorrow is always a new day.

Kristine Iljina take vitamins to anti depress yourself. You could never go wrong with vitamins, always helping me with my depression issues. Also find out what vitamins trigger your best mood, remember we're all different so study your own body for best results. Trust me, vitamins will help for anti depressions as long as you find out what vitamins make you feel at your best. I also recommend "tranqueline" natural pills to avoid panic attacks somewhat. They also help make u feel calm.

Is Anxiety in fact actually considered a "mental illness?"

    • @strokedriedrie
      @strokedriedrie 8 лет назад +2

No illness! It's a part of AS, a disorder. AS or yous to call autism, you can see as a long barcode, a AS disorder you can have 1 line or several behind each other or 2 in the beginning 5 in the middle and 3 at the end etc. My son for instance is highly mentally intelligent, but in his high school economy study he made straight A's but at his practice test he almost flunked because he can't do two assignments at the same time, first one then the next worked well but it's not acceptable in a job, he made his degree for economics and now he thus a IT course, he made MTA( Microsoft Technical Assistant ) in 3 weeks from total 6 learning hours with a as you call it A++ or here a 10 out of 10.
Find out what you like and are good in do a course or more. A mental illness is ''all'' what people do not understand. A completely normal looking and behaving human, with daily headache and a continuous beep in his brain even with earplugs in a silent room is not sick but his brain thus overtime nothing can stop this, not even a 5 day artificial coma because it's AS a disorder.

I cannot thank you enough for this. It kind of feels really calming to know you're not alone in this. I, myself, luckily don't get panic attacks often, maybe it's because I manage to always hide my feelings so well, even from myself. But sometimes, of course, it all just breaks out and I explode and maybe the fear of that happening, that is so immense, is another reason for me not experiencing panic attacks so often as I might imagine other people do. But nevertheless, as soon as you described how u felt, I subconsciously burst out crying and sobbing and it kind of feels really good to let out all these emotions that are always trapped in a cage that's way too small for them and that keeps getting fuller and fuller with each day, spent hiding the feelings I should not be afraid to show. So thank you for that as well and everything else, thank you Marie 💙

I have been dealing with anxiety, panic attacks and depression since I was 18. In a couple of weeks I will turn 55.
      Some thoughts:
      - I wish I had the internet when I was 18!
      - I have a lovely marriage, an adult child, had a successful non-traditional career, travelled, lived, loved and laughed. It may sound trite but it DOES get better.
      - I have spent some time in my bed with the covers over my head crying. [Too much time sometimes]. So, no ... it hasn't been easy. There are no "sure cures", a pill to make it go away, ... no quick easy answers. BUT, there are answers, skills to learn, sometimes medications to take, life to live.
      - Ask for Help.
Love that there is this video to start a conversation, to let people know that they are not alone. So Brave!

There was a guy on TV saying people who suffer from this focus on the sensation of it coming on until they have an attack, whereas people who don't have panic attacks might have the same sensation but instead of thinking about it until it becomes something they just think hmm that's a different feeling but then just carry on and literally forget about it.

Well, in my early teens and later when I had a really stressful job there were times when I was prone to panic attacks. The rest of the time not prone at all. So I am both of the guys he was talking about and see the accuracy in what he said. If I ever have one again I will work with his information, which I didn't have then. What goes into a soul pancake anyway? Batter with a sprinkling of chitlins and collards? :) Could be tasty I suppose.

And I felt like no-one could see or understand it. I've never felt more alone in my life. So I think this could help a lot of people who feel this way, because at least now they know that they are not alone.
So thank you for opening up and sharing this in your beautiful video! 💜

To me, everything around me that I look at became larger, little triple the size and it's make me feel like it's about to crush me to death, or I have a sensation of something gigantic about to crashing on when I just simply close my eyes, so yes there is nothing I can do until it's went away. The only thing I can do is crying frighteningly calling for help and hugging someone tight.

sounds like me the weird thing is it only happened when I'm at a job I made a lot of money so when I lost my job in January of 2021 but I've been dealing with this all my life I would get anxiety and out of nowhere I would have weird vision problems like you are explaining where everything seems more closer and feel like I'm about to pass out the only way I felt better was getting away from everyone and some places would always trigger that all my life don't know if it's panic attacks im not sure all I know I used think I was going crazy ive always had issue since I was like 15 years old and now it's so hard to get myself to get a job because im going to somewhere new which scares me plus I hate social problems too I think the reason is because I was a premature baby and had surgery I think it was serious but im not sure I've probably got alot of disorders I don't know about from that what makes things worse is family never wants to listen or think I'm just being a wussy but they are normal and don't understand the things I deal with in my head it's sucks.

The first time I had one, I thought I was having an asthma attack. Two weeks prior, I found out my fiance fooled around with my aunt, but I didn't react emotionally at all. For two weeks, I went into a mechanical, robot auto pilot kind of mental state. I did NOT want to feel . I numbed myself and continued to cook dinner , take care of our kids, even make love to him. But I thought about my discovery every minute of every day, and refused to cry, get angry or feel ANY kind of emotion. Then, on the day I had to do a show for my work at a convention center, I heard our song. OUR song a half hour before I had to put on my game face in front of about 1,000 people. OUR song was playing on the speakers at the convention center. There I was, in a crowded convention center with my boss and coworkers, and the song and his infidelity . I fought to keep the tears away. No no no, not now. Not like this. Not here! Get it together your boss and coworkers need you!
I had to go into the rest room to pull my self together. Then it happened. I tried to take a breath in, but I ended up making a weird gulping noise. Tried again, and it was like my chest was only allowing a small amount of air along with more gulping noises. My chest felt tight, my vision was altered, and I went into full panic mode. Gulping and gasping for air. I started to feel complete humiliation which made it worse. Humiliation of someone finding me, of my coworkers finding me and 10 minutes left until I was due to make my presentations. I was also really scared because I thought I was having an asthma attack. I was alone in there. I was holding onto the counter, trying to hold my self up when a man accidently walked into the ladies restroom with me. He saw me and realized his mistake and hightailed it out of there. I tried asking him for help, but I could barely speak. I thought I was dying. I never had a panic attack before. I called my female coworker, but her phone was off. So my only choice was to call my boss and tried to sound normal, asking him to send ginger in to help me with something. Well, Ginger comes, but my boss hung around the ladies room (unknown to me at the time) and she asked me what was wrong. I exploded, told her everything. I became hysterical and my breathing got worse. She told me I was having a panic attack. 5 mins later, the on-site medics came in to help me. (My boss heard everything, EVERYTHING) he was the one who got the medics. They wanted to take me to this room, but the thought of leaving the privacy of the bathroom, and walk passed hundreds of people, including my coworkers , made my panic attack worse. So they skirted me through the back and through a loading garage and into the nurse's station. About an hour later I felt composed enough to call my bff to come pick me up. I stayed at her place for the weekend.
That night after I left, I get a phone call. It was my boss. I HAD to answer. When I did, I immediately apologized for leaving the show, my voice was completely shot by then, super raspy and course. Thank God he was understanding and told me he wanted to check in on me to make sure I was all right, that he heard the echoes from the women's room, and understood my emotional state. Told me to take as much time as I needed and that my desk will still be there when I come back. That brought some solice. He even called me the next day as well, but by then, I had no voice to speak. I lost my voice completely that weekend.
That was a year and 6 months ago. I had panic attacks about twice a month for a while, once at church in the middle of lent service even. They are SO humiliating. Trying to stay composed and fighting it back so I don't make a scene was so hard and futile . But it's been 6 months since my last one. Sucks that I have absolutely no trust in anyone anymore. I stay away from situations that remind me of it, and I can't have fun anymore when I go out because I feel I need to pay attention to every person, every detail around me. I feel I need to have the entire room in eyesight when I DO go out. I question EVERYONE'S motives , ESPECIALLY women. I feel the need to analyze every movement and to ALWAYS have my chess pieces in order in social situations. It's horrible. And mentally exhausting and I know it's unnecessary, but I can't help it.
I used to be so carefree and social. I have detached from my family, from everyone. I only feel safe at home. I miss my friends, but then again I don't because I have this stupid idea that they will stab me in the back if I let my guard down.
    This has to get better.

I can't express my gratitude to you enough. this video is really helpful to me. I have struggled with anxiety for two to three years now and going into year 12 and with a job as a cashier things are getting rough. I've gotten depressed and fallen into a deep hole I'd thought I'd never get out of. I've watched countless other videos about anxiety and seen a cb therapist but nothing has worked. I'm not quite sure how but your video has convinced me it's time to stop living under this and move past it. you're video has made me realise it's time to see a real doctor not just a therapist and consider taking medication if need be despite my previous fear of medicines. thank you so much. thank you a million times.

Greg, Develop your mental muscles. God has given us life to enjoy. Meditation heals anxiety as it reprogrammes the mind. Watch alternate nostril breathing meditation videos on Google and do it for 5 to 10 minutes if possible twice a day. You can sit on a chair and do it. Second technique is to close eyes, sit in one place with back erect without moving for 5 to 10 minutes-Be still and observe your breath. Negative thoughts will reduce. Shyaaam Sir, Mentor. Make meditation a daily habit.

I've had this before, it was horrible. It's much better now than it was. What really helped me is when I got fed up with it and eventually realized it's my mind and doesn't control reality or determine your future, unless you let it. It takes awhile at times, but every day is a victory cause you keep moving forward. It'll get better overtime. Keep moving forward and fighting!

This video is great. We have to make more visible mental health illnesses and issues, and the fact that they affect people.
I appreciate you for showing your experience. I think that's important that people need to be aware that anxiety is actually a "thing", it's not like getting a cold. You can carry anxiety for years (or another mental health issue) and people will still say that's gonna be gone, "it's just a phase". And that's a sad perspective we must change.
    Thank you.
