Lozito did what the police couldn't. He is more than a HERO.
Lozito did what the police WOULDN'T do. Those cops were in the motorman's cab with their flak vests and their 9mm Glocks and did NOTHING until Lozito disarmed the drug addled lunatic. They also made Lozito wait more than 20 minutes for an ambulance because they thought that maybe there might be another attacker on the train although they knew that Melman was a lone assailant. The ER doctor told Lozito that a few minutes more, he would have bled to death. Lozito later sued NYPD for their inaction but lost the case against the NYPD because the judge ruled that NYPD has NO duty to "serve and protect" the public.
@Luna EB Absolutely. Spend those funds on programs that actually help people. Do away with qualified immunity and have health professionals deal with unarmed, emotionally disturbed people, not police.
He even tried to sue the cops for inaction. They argued that they had no reasonable responsibility to assist or protect him. Assholes
Anyone realize that the cops watched the last victim fight for his life and they just stood in the safe locked conductors cabin and watched until the last victim disarmed him.
It probably happened pretty fast honestley.
I'm surprised they didn't charge him with uttering threats lol Cowards!

Well, I can of course only talk from my own experiences and the cars I've been in, there was no window.
So he banged on a locked door, and the officers had no way of knowing that it wasn't just some regulate loon.
They were busy looking for the perpetrator in the tunnel, which was why the train was moving so slowly.
It wasn't until they heard the commotion, or if there was CCTV in the Cabin, they understood they had to react. So from there, they still had to unlock the door, get out into the car, and move towards the men fighting, and then get an idea of who's the attacker and who's the victim, and then act accordingly.
And even if they might have had a suspicion about it being their spree killer in action, they couldn't know until they detained him....
I really wish the boyfriend couldve got to his love sooner...smh. he is a victim as well.

No Special Duty
What are the police for? Producer B.A. Parker started wondering this back in June, as Black Lives Matter protests and calls to "defund the police" ramped up. The question led her to a wild story of a stabbing on a New York City subway train, and the realization that, according to the law, the police don't always have to protect us. Producer Sarah Qari joins Parker to dig into the legal background, which takes her all the way up to the Supreme Court... and then all the way back down to on-duty officers themselves. Beast Mode FIAZCO Nope I am not a doctor, I am a qualified nurse in the UK that works in a neuro surgical operating room . That makes me very critical of wound closures. Staples don’t leave a very pretty scar. So the aim is to put the staples in as uniformly as possible. Closer together is better, and making sure both sides of the wound are in the staple equally so the stress on the skin is equal. Maybe they did the guys head wound in a rush. That would explain the end result. If someone has a full head of hair, then the aesthetics of the closure is irrelevant. Scars on the scalp can generally be hidden.

All they had to was let him flee country and nobody dies.

Lozito v. New York City
In the spring of 2012, Joseph Lozito, who was brutally stabbed and "grievously wounded, deeply slashed around the head and neck", sued police for negligence in failing to render assistance to him as he was being attacked by Gelman.[21][22][23] Lozito told reporters that he decided to file the lawsuit after allegedly learning from "a grand-jury member" that NYPD officer Terrance Howell testified that he hid from Gelman before and while Lozito was being attacked because Howell thought Gelman had a gun.[24][25] In response to the suit, attorneys for the City of New York argued that police had no duty to protect Lozito or any other person from Gelman.[24]
On July 25, 2013, Judge Margaret Chan dismissed Lozito's suit, stating that while Lozito's account of the attack rang true and appeared "highly credible", Chan agreed that police had "no special duty" to protect Lozito.[21][22][26]
Lozito later went on to give an account of the aftermath in an article published by Cracked.com in October 2013,[27] and again in October 2017 when he narrated a video, offering his perspective of the event and as a warning to others involved in similar situations.

Was truly amazing 😀
What the hell man ? 225 years in prison ? He stabbed his step dad about 50 times, did the same to Yelena and her mom, and ran over one guy. He should be given the death penalty.
What is wrong with the judicial system ? Are they thinking rationally ?
To those who were killed by that sick psychotic killer,
Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord
May Your light shine upon them
May they rest in peace, Amen.
To the killer, if you are reading this ... which I believe the prison won't allow,... May you rot in hell for eternity.
To that brave man who disarmed that psycho, you stood in line of danger and was stabbed severely. Hopefully you have fully recovered. If I were in your position, I would have frozen.
Absoutly a monster...
Every time in these videos when they explain how hard the killer's life has been, I feel as if they want to make an excuse or something... There are a lot of people in the world who have a really hard life or who think they had a hard life, but very few of them become serial killers...Also, as obvious from other stories, they might have had just the normal childhood and again become monsters...
Fate hands you hell, you spread hell to those whos fates were supposed to be perfect, too bad thats life.
Criminology is all about opinions and profiling etc, documentaries tend to be set out for those who enjoy true crime and the story behind the killers, it's not about excusing them, it's about trying to figure out what made them do what they did... So this guy for example you'll have people who say he was just a cold-blooded killer, others will say he was ill and believe it or not you'll get people who say he's the victim and will sympathise with him, what's crazy is that they were all told the same story about his life and yet we always come to different conclusions and opinions on what makes an individual tick, I find it all really interesting.
(As long as the law treats perpetrators the same, in the sense of not letting one of because he's got mental illness, while the other one who doesn't sits and rots, it doesn't really matter, because at the end of the day, you can be as sick as hell and had the worst childhood, a crime is a crime and you have to serve the time)
I was just thinking the same thing it's like you read my mind it infuriates me that they try to humanize these monsters because that's what they are some kind of thing because they're definitely not human. And how society can advocate for one of these things to have three hot meals a day and a warm bed at night after the fact makes me physically sick because there's no place in society or this world for these things just purge them all!!!!
What was that "expert" going on about, plunging a knife into someone shows a great deal of anger, not necessarily,in a combat situation a soldier may only have a knife as a viable weapon,in that case it would be kill or be killed.

Right.. I think he wanted to kill him anyway cause he was jealous of him.. if he was there, he probably would have gotten the worst of it..
These characters bragging on NYC need to snap out of their delirium and accept it as the Rat's Nest that it is now. Pathetic place.
My daughter and son-in-law live in NYC and it is no more of a rat's nest than anywhere else.
@@mamapoch1915 BS. You can't defend their politics lady.
I'm from.NY and it's a cesspool of low life shit...I despise it and all the corrupt politicians
Yep, another Democrat-run hell hole.
@Michael Jones Truth hurts, don't it? You can't defend Scumland- don't even try.
Everyone has something to lose. We could start with the toes, one by one. Then its the knees. You can guess where we go from there.
Wow, they got Albert Einstein himself to star in this one :O
Good on you joe hope you’re doing ok 👌
this is so terrifying
It's kinda annoying that they make a documentary on this. He only kills people he knew. This is not even close to as worse as other cases. The confused teen just wanted attention and you people gave it to him. Just lock him up and give him death penalty.
Unreal! Cops were probably watching the whole fight from the motorman compartment. Then they step in and say: “Hey we got it!”
I'm From NY Never Heard Of This!
Watched the doc......and put 2 and 2 together...
My son, a tall healthy young man, a future medical Dr, said when studying anadamy, that how unbelievably hard to cut through human skin, with surgical knives! Why those killers can just cut and kill people as if it were easy? I don't understand.
Conductors cabins on subways are very small you can only fit one or two people in them at most.
Watch inside of a killer it shows interviews with max an explains more about his crime
is that on netflix??? id love to see it

What a story! It's like something from an action movie thriller.. 'get out!' while driving 80mph..Terminator!
Listening to Joe's account of his fight was hard to listen to, hearing him make mistake after mistake. He's very lucky he lived. Focusing on the weapon is always the wrong plan.
What would you recommend?
@@MrTheedarkhorse In general, you stay aware of the weapon but focus on the attacker. Joe's problem was he was thinking to disarm the guy so he tried to catch or grab the wrist, which got him cut multiple times & his first attack was to sort of head rush the guy, which is why he got stabbed & cut on the back of his neck. From a seated position, he said he was in, he should have just raised a leg & kicked the attacker away, which could lead to a better position, but even if not, he should avoid the blade & focus on the other man's weak points. Human bodies, no matter how big or strong they are, all have the same vulnerabilities so you target those. If I were in that situation, I would have tried to kick the attacker back, they take off my jacket & use it to try to wrap the man's knife & hand into the bundle of cloth & then just go to town on his face until he was no longer a threat.
Well he is still alive, and I don't recall him saying he was a expert in knife defense!!so until you have stop someone from killing you with a knife,Joe did a great job his here to live another day!!💯💯
@@MrTheedarkhorse ,there is always that one internet expert, that has all the answers!
This “former friend” is definitely lying.
There's always someone who is gunna introduce this chap to a whole new world of hurt inside of the establishment that he has now undoubtedly found himself.
The cops were total cowards, but you don’t hear about that do you?
