Ginger Rogers, such a beautiful, classy and talented woman.
Incredibly talented!
Ginger Rogers Gorgeous! My grandfather gave me an elaborate framed picture of himself taken in the thirties. At home I took it apart to clean and what is behind his picture? A signed autograph of Ginger herself. He got it during her WW11 entertainment of the troops tour. I asked him if he would like her back. and he said...'so that's where my girlfriend got to.":) I had Ginger framed and in 2019 I asked my granddaughter to choose anything she wanted from my 'stuff''. Out of all my antiques and luxury items she chose Ginger and now has her on her bedroom wall.
"Luxury items"
🦊 What a wonderful keepsake ! I don’t watch too many old movies 🍿, but she is so lovely on this episode. Blessings from California. 🍒
Great story! Thanks for sharing.
@@jamesmcinnis208 Meaning jewlery,
@@rosered103 I see, thanks.
Wasn't Mrs Rogers the most beautiful lady ever , her demeanor is soo calming to watch ,Godbless her soul in heaven 👏😇💞😇👏
@Keaton Princeton 😂👏👏👋 Hahaha
@Kevin Ishaan Hahaha 😂👏👏👋
Ginger was 51 years old here and looked very beautiful. Bill Marshall was her fifth and last husband - married in 1961 and divorced in 1971.
she older than 51.....
April 2020 marked the 25th anniversary of the sad death of Ginger. :`(
Ginger was a dancer & because of that her whole body & her face stayed in better shape then most women her age. This is because All muscles of the face are also kept in shape too
@@nylanelson5212 *than most women
@@nylanelson5212 You mean than, not "then".
Ginger’s hair style was popular at that time. Bouffant hair was the rage.
Couldn't stop looking at Ginger's asymmetrical hair-do.
The Sweep
we called it the french twist, momma had it....purdy
Up, Over, Down, and Back.
Ginger looks like she's just having the greatest time!
She was wonderful!
I love Ginger!!! 🥰❤️
what a thrill it must have been to sit next to the legendary Ginger Rogers. I would have probably been going hommina hommina hommina
I was just talking about that to a friend the other day; we have both been watching these videos. I said I would be so star struck to be sitting next to...Ginger Rogers, Joan Fontaine, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., etc., I probably wouldn't even remember my name, let alone be able to play the game.
A thrill to be seated next to Mr. Jack Rapp!
You and Ralph Kramden.
😅😅😅😅😅😅
$1,160 in 1962 is equivalent to $10,908.75 in 2022.
Wow!
What did you earn though

I've watched more then a few episodes and it's interesting to see how many guest on the show are either in ministry or are function as the body of Christ in their community.
That's their problem. Fortunately, it didn't affect the quality of the show.
@@HansDelbruck53Exactly!
Ginger is beautiful. Orson is a funny man.
Sorry that Orson died in a tragic way; I think he was hit by a car when he was crossing a street. RIP
@@alanhumphrey4198 That’s what I read somewhere.
@@alanhumphrey4198 He was knocked down by one car, then run over by a second car whose driver didn't see him. RIP.
Orson is hilarious and Ginger is a beautiful lady.
Ginger is fabulous
Great, fast-moving episode! I really enjoyed this one!
They JIPPED her!!!! They didn't have the points up on the monitor, and that last clue GAVE her 26 points!!
Orson didn't know when to give up on a word in the lightning round!!!
Too much pressure builds up during those rounds, making it hard when to go on when to give up.
Despite continued warnings from Allen too. Would sacrifice all the 💲 trying to get one word. 😖😢
R.I.P. Orson Bean.
he one of my faves
I was about 5 weeks old when this aired so I don't remember a thing, lol.
Me: *doesn’t look at the word Patio properly and thinking it’s potato* SAY SPUD!! GROUND!! VEGETABLE!! CHIPS! *looks at word again* ohh... I feel stupid... 🙄
Wish I could have seen Orson in "Subways Are for Sleeping".
Guest: "We try to teach them to be better Christians and better Americans."
Oh, how I miss those days.
Me too
I was born in 1955. We will never hear that expression in the United States ever again, unfortunately. I thank God every day that I was born an American, and reared in a Christian home.
All that did was produce Trumvangelical fascists.
Danmasters, Viet Nam era. No thanks.
Actor Orson Bean, a conservative in liberal Hollywood, attends the premiere of Columbia Picture's 'The Equalizer 2' at TCL Chinese Theatre on July 17, 2018 in Hollywood, California. Bean was killed in a car accident on February 7, 2020. Bean died Feb. 7 after two cars struck him as he walked in the Venice area of Los Angeles. He was 91. The driver of the first vehicle did not see Bean and "clipped him and he went down", said Los Angeles Police Department Captain Brian Wendling. "A second vehicle's driver was distracted by people trying to slow him down; when the driver looked ahead, a second traffic collision occurred and it caused the death of Bean".
I was named after Ginger Rogers
😺 How adorable ! And I love that your last name is Baker 🧑🍳 ! Goes great with Ginger. And my last name is Cook ! Blessings from California. 🧁
I'm not sure why but after looking at Ginger Rogers' hair I have this odd nagging desire to go surfing in the ocean… :-)
That’s funny 😆
@@mariascott2663 Thanks!!
So what would you have cranking out on your ear buds? Miserlou or wipeout?
🤣
VERY stylish hairdo for 1962!
Voices today, 2022, are not very distinguished, they sound alike not standing out.
I know Allen Ludden is telling Orson thank you for looking after Betty
'that blond Jack is incredibly good looking, who know where his grandsons are.
I did a google search , based upon his name , and that he said he had a daughter named Mary . He just passed earlier in 2020

And you can put on your priest outfit, and bend them over in the rectory.
Who do?
That Jack contestant had a Hollywood heartthrob look
These celebrities need to thank their opponent because it's usually THEIR words that give it to them
Although no guarantee it would have worked, at least maybe is a second clue, for "Griddle" I was thinking "Skillet"
Ginger Rogers has male clavicles that go straight across. Female clavicles are "V" shaped.
I'm curious about the several references to the Cooper Street Gang. Anyone know what they were talking about.
DTB1997 From what I found it was a group of friends that she and Mary Martin were apart of growing up.
For "Tape" I would have first said "adhesive" and then "strip"
Or "bias" or many, many other words that would naturally precede "tape."
I'd say "elastic" when she got stuck saying it.
That’s a crazy hair do Ginger Rogers has 😂
I looked it up. It’s a vintage version of a side swept updo. Lol you’re welcome.
it looks nice from the front , but the side view looks kinda funky !
Orson was great in Twilight Zone.
she was so odd in Mame , the play....
adore the clever orson !
Is there someone in the desk pushing up the lightning round words?
No it was electromechanical
The blond lady says "I strive to teach them (the teens) to be better christians and better americans! "
Brunette? I love these times!
And a positive response from the audience and host! ❤
I must say, teaching teenagers to be better Christians AND Americans would NOT be allowed on ANY type of program today. Weren't employees called staff back in 62?
I was thinking the same thing.Very sad indeed.
employees.
The Americans and Christians bit would have been edited because some snowflake would have been offended.
@@Bigbadwhitecracker ..... Exactly right! And of course we wouldn't want to offend anyone.
Ginger cheated three times. That ain't right to the other player. The guy didn't chest.
Ginger cheated when she put her hand up saying razor .
@10:48 Allen showed his ass again. Polka is not roughly, or in any other way, a form of the word Poke. Reason A. Goodwin must have been sleeping on this one.
ginger seems like she alwys acting....
'better christians and better americans'....o dear
These people knew the Bible, unlike so many today.
agreed..when the female contestant said she wanted to help children become better Americans and Christians, that in itself would unfortunately be mocked and laughed at today.
@@carrob704 Just yesterday I used the phrase, "Greater than rubies..." Even if one doesn't use the Bible for religious reasons, it permeates our literature, music, etc. I read Ginger Rogers autobiography, and she quoted Scriptures several times through her book.
@@carrob704 Can you imagine what would happen on The View a little bit later in the day?
@@carrob704 not mocked but frowned upon because not everyone is Christian.
Our society is not homogenous anymore. People who have different (and equally valid) cultural and religious references are no longer conspicuously absent from things like this. I hope no one is pining for the old days in that regard.
Polka[-dot] is not a form of the word Poke.
I was thinking the very same thing.
She was 51 here?
@jackchen7003 Yes, Ginger Rogers was just about to turn 51 years old on the 16th of July, 1962. Born 16th of July, 1911❤
big ole wig on ginger,,,,fun
orson was one of my fave tv personalitys growin up
Her real hair just a lot of teasing going on....then nuked with hairspray
It's not a wig ,how rude 😒👎
Ummm … STRAWBERRY is NOT “roughly a form of the word” BERRY. “A form of the word" BERRY might be BERRIES. And “POLKA” is NOT a form of the word “POKE”. What the hay were they thinking?! I believe they felt sorry for Ms. Tewkesbury.
I let the strawberry one go, even though I agree with you. But to say polka, is a form of the word poke, is ridiculous.
They let her have "berry" because she said the actual word it was just part of another word. I'm fine with that but I agree with "Polka" though. And why would they feel sorry for her? She cleaned house!
Alan Ludden probably was indeed thinking "polka" was actually, "poka."
@I've seen the Twinkie and the damage done I meant that he didn't know that the term related to "dots" had an L in it. Thus, "poka" might seem enough to him like "poke" that he thought it was a form of it.
It was dumb all the way around. Where was Dr. Reason A. Goodman (EDIT: Goodwin) on that?!
"Ummm"
I don’t know who these people are.
Research isn't difficult, dearie.
You are obviously very young...
Sure looks "rigged" to me!
