You notice he completely disappeared from the story with little mention again makes it clear he completely removed himself from her life! He was a dirtbag cheater who couldn't accept responsibility for his actions being why his marriage was ruined because let's be serious! Even if she didn't catch him, someone would have or even his ex-wife in time!
I like to imagine he's living a loser life in a crappy apartment in the city far away still blaming his blight on his ex and daughter! Will likely attempt to force contact with Jun in the far future! But thanks to her character growth as well as her mother finally realizing her own hand in hurting her. I believe she can finally give that man what for, for the damages he caused and the fact he had the NERVE to try and weasel his way back into her life after what he did and the neglect all these's years! Her mother has a chance to reconcile because redemption happened sooner while their still living together and she's young enough! But for her father, damages is done and it will be too late to try
I think she may have been blaming Jun as well for the divorce, but unlike her scumbag ex, never told Jun this or vocally or physically blamed her, likely self-hated herself for even thinking that, KNOWING it's not Jun's fault at all, but it likely made her withdraw more from Jun while she was going through her depression alone! Using work to distract her from her issues till she was forced to have to face them. Takumi grandparents helped her as he helped Jun as she was prepared to leave the play in guilt before his grandmother stopped her and gave her those words of wisdom! Neither of them could properly cope or recover from that man's betrayal and sin because they put the blame where it didn't belong (Jun) or felt guilt for it happening (Her mother). It's all HIS fault shit happened. She wasn't wrong for divorcing his cheating ass and needs to accept that if not Jun, then one way or another he'd slip up, and that's IF he doesn't decide to divorce her first if he could get away with it!
It took a while, but as the ending hinted at. The two have the chance to fix things with each other and their lives and make it better!

It's just so sad and heartbreaking, I mean what could you feel if the person you love doesn't love you back. I was really surprised and amazed that she just accepted and moved on from it. I like this anime, it represents well a child's trauma from their perspective without logical inclusion. It may be hard to figure it out even in old age because those thoughts are relived with that same childish mind. It's also wonderful that this wasn't just another sweet lovestory of someone saving someone mentally. It shouldn't be worked out like that. In this story she had an ability opened for herself to open up from bent up regret and feel free in own skin.

For example, when the dad cheats on someone and gets called out by the daughter and instead shamelessly blames the daughter for calling him out and not his disgusting and immoral behavior. For a child this is extremely upsetting and traumatic because it shatters their entire perception of reality and right or wrong. It is a classic example of highly toxic behavior from parents which leads to a child becoming mentally ill and led down a depraved and depressing path. Same thing can be said about the mum for being cold to her daughter becomes she's upset about the divorce and whatnot. Instead did acknowledging honestly their own short comings, apologizing, and offering a chance to heal or compensate, they choose to bury their own faults and seek external factors which through a wrench into their demented machine of life. It just proves that these parents were never truly mature, well-educated and enlightened people in the first place, and now they bring their gross incompetencies upon their child, purposefully or unpurposefully its all the same outcome. The child degenerates into a ball of misery.

I got kinda emotional watching this movie because I, in a way relate to Jun's silence. I really love it. This and Whispers of the Heart are one of the anime movies that i like when it comes to "romance." Despite the element of "magic" and "romanticizing" reality, they are actually quite grounded. Love isn't as lovely or easilly reciprocated as we are used to see in dramas and Disney. Rather, it shows that in the end, you may not get the girl/boy. Or that, you both do like each other but there are matters that need attending to, and keeping the warmth of love until that other matter is resolved so you can finally be together takes commitment.

Agreed, Frankly I like to believe things didn't go well for the father after he left the story early on and he's still blaming his ex and daughter to the end of the story! He'll likely attempt to approach Jun AFTER the end, but by then she'll have the mental strength and understanding just how much of an asshole he was and the damage he brought about on her and her mother! Much of it was self-inflicted, but the damage never would have happened if not for him. So I feel that his punishment, his life went to shit when he took his marriage and fatherhood for granted like he did

It related to me because I thought it was my fault that my parents split up because I was watching something I shouldn’t have, that led my mom to think it was my dad’s doing. Over the years I blamed and hate myself for what I done. But as I grow older I told my dad about my mistakes that I did in the past believing it was the cause of the fights, he told me that it wasn’t my fault. The truth was that my mom jump to the wrong conclusion of thinking my dad was cheating on her but he wasn’t. After many fight, they decided to have a divorce. Learn the real truth, I was able to let go of the guilt and accept their divorce and moving forward to be happy in life. I also learn that parents, whatever they fight or getting a divorce it not because of the children’s fault, it their mistakes and choices that they made themselves but they should not let the children to get involved and suffer from their parent’s greedy and faults.

Indeed man. The sad truth is that many people have children without realizing that they are not capable of truly raising a life yet. Most cases are of bad parenting and education but of course there are also cases of literal abuse and torture of children, which is entirely inhumane.
Much of the pain and suffering in this world is bought to innocent people by perpetrators who have been traumatized during childhood, most likely by parents, and therefore seek out to kill, torture and inflict pain on everyone else.
I think in the future we need to rethink our society and rethink the way the government deals with parenting. The government needs to introduce permits and laws which make it illegal for a couple to have a child unless they meet the criteria to do so through mental and character examinations. Are you an honest person? Do you have a stable job? Are you depressed? Do have have violent tantrums? Are you traumatized yourself and may bring this upon your child too?
These are all questions I think the government needs to enforce.
It's the same concept of a traffic light, it's a duty of the government to ensure that society functions as smooth as possible. The government should really take a hand into childbirth and parenting since it is one of, if not the MOST important aspect of a persons life. Because a child knows not of society, or country or nation, it only knows of parents, parents are the world. It is sad that perhaps one of the most important things in life, is something that a person cannot choose. A person sadly, cannot choose which family he or she is born into. It is a lottery in which the winner is able to get the finest and most satisfying reward of a happy, carefree and fulfilling life, yet never realize they actually won. And the loser, is punished for losing with the most cruel and demented suffering throughout their entire life.
I think it is time we change this lottery so that it is no longer just by chance but there's also a level of regulation that goes into it.

Since then, cheerleader girl goes as far as rejecting every guy who asks her out saying that she has a boyfriend which she technically did. She is still in love with him as we see in the ending.

I was playing, but I remember I was also listening to my mom and uncles because they were talking in my proximity. As a child, I don't know that it was a serious talk.
The next day, my step-grandma secretly asked me what my mom and uncle was talking about, and I told her the bits of if... which includes 'grandpa gonna have a divorce'.
A few days after that, I got slapped multiple times across the face by my mom. She also hit my head. My uncles was also there, just watching and saying "don't hurt her too much, or she's gonna be traumatized."
Well, too late. I was already traumatized at that point. Thanks uncle for being so concerned about my wellbeing.
They told me that my step-grandma are going to divorce my grandpa. And it's all my fault because I'm such a blabbermouth. Being a kid, not knowing what a 'divorce' meant, yet dare to go around telling others about it.

Dude do you really think every child in America, Europe, etc who has gone through stuff like this has had access to a therapist, let alone a good one? This is hardly a Japanese problem exclusively.
Tons of kids all over the world have bad parents or go through traumatic things and blame themselves, often for the rest of their lives. I know countless adults with messed up childhoods who still struggle to accept that what happened wasn't their fault, and that's even with therapy. Of course a child still in school would continue to blame herself when her father was the one to put that thought in her head to begin with.
She's lucky to have at least made such an understanding friend when she did. Most people aren't privileged enough to get professional help or have families that'll even acknowledge that they need help at all. This movie is what the real world looks like for probably the vast majority of people since healthy happy well-off families are the ideal and not the norm.

    • @AlejandroRodriguez-cy8ee
      @AlejandroRodriguez-cy8ee 2 года назад +8

@@Akuma09Yomi the problem is not that she didn't have access to this. is the fact that japan keeps creating media, movies, films, series, and games that deal with psychological problems and your average by the day people or friends aren't professionals about this nor do they even know what to do in these kinds of situations, each time they show that everything can be overcome by being with your friends and family, and while it's true about this, it is not always the case.
Look at evangelion, the place had to have a SHITON OF MONEY and none of the people who were riding the mechs decided to go and see a psychologist or a therapist, heck i was convinced therapist didn't exist in japan because of that movie. This has been a constant troupe with japan on not relying on doctors but themselves.
YES you are right, not everyone in rea life has access to this, and they have to deal with it by themselves. But i don't even THINK the option to go and see therapist was mentioned. But i digress.
also yeah that's pretty much how life goes, you win some, you lose some. You gain good friends or bad friends and you pretty much gotta have luck on your side. This is so painful yet very touchy and deep moment for me, because in the end the same almost the exact same had happened to me. Except I got bullied, prompted to kill myself, and everybody would stare down at me when I’d have seizures because of my condition, even filming and posting it on Snapchat. It caused PTSD and I had become distant and silent, hating not only everyone, but myself as well. And because I used to be such an attention seeker as a child because my parents knew my grades were unstable, I’d stay silent and say everything is going fine, acting out like I’d learn in theatre class, a happy child with a normal social life. I had multiple breakdowns, and seizures, rejections, I even had close to SA… and I hated everything further. But I grew closer to music as I had started taking guitar lessons, I tried singing under the shower so nobody would hear my pathetic voice. I realised I could do an opera voice, I could nail deep voices, and had a wide vocal range. It wasn’t that I was special, it was that I wasn’t weird. I never exactly had a normal social life, but nobody did because every life is unique in its own way. I learned the hard way, but I learned nonetheless, that the strange stares are what I interpret, the snarky comments just silly words of jealousy, and that from my pain I gained so much knowledge about many things, different backgrounds, how some people interpret, the process of what people go through before they bully. I felt like I had opened books that had before a cover with the words “I’ll kill you, you no good zero” on it, a cover I ripped away from its book.
I gained knowledge through courage, and I can now help those in that situation. And I have a good voice, I can make myself heard without breaking eardrums or yelling during seizure. I can sing, speak and shout my feelings as a human can live.

It had scared me a lot at first at how this felt really similar-almost too ressemblant to what I had experienced, but in the end in a way, I’m sorta glad this is being talked about, in a way. Children will always be born into this world thinking that everything about their parents are perfect and they are the sky and the limit.
With time, one begins to notice that their parents are not saints rather just people with their own issues.
No matter how much parents love you, nurture you, hate you or abuse you. You must realize that you are here on this earth to discover your own purpose and to carve out your own shadow, and your parents only used their physical bodies to bring you here. As with all things, justice is always correct. If they love you, love them back, if they are mean and hate you, don't hate them back, rather leave and become independent so you can become your own towering self.
I say this as someone who has been through severe family trauma and issues. For any child or even young adult realizing their parents are mortals with issues is one of the hardest truths to swallow. And yet... Once accepted, and once realizing that your parents don't define you and you carve out your own world, the sky becomes bluer and life immediately becomes more enjoyable. The opportunities are endless, there are no limits, you are free, truly free, like the sacred being you always were as soon as you were bought into this world by your parents physical bodies.

I used to visit my great aunt and uncle often. However, my great aunt was not the best person. For over 30 years my aunt and uncle had been together. However, one day my uncle told my aunt that he was not a Jehovah’s Witness, and was tired of being forced to celebrate a religion he did not believe in.
My aunt divorced him. My uncle was a amazing person, but my aunt threw away a 30+ year marriage because his beliefs did not match with hers. When I was 10 years old, I learned that she was not a good person. She was homophobic, toxic, and has tried for years to force her religion, lifestyle, and choices onto me and my older sister.
My aunt has 3 children, who suffer from their own trauma. One of my cousins cannot move out of my aunt’s home because she is being forced to stay because of her mother. Another one of my cousins is moving out of the house by force because she wants to get away from my aunt. The other cousin refuses to work because his mother convinced him to not take up a job and focus on being a Jehovah’s Witness. Only two of the 4 people of their house have part-time jobs. So, a house of 4 people is living off of 1 full-time job. My grandma (my aunts sister) is being forced to pay the majority of their bills.
I really miss my uncle, but I’m aware that I’ll never see him again. It’s been quite a few years, and I really do wish that my aunt was a better person. She took someone away from me, and I will never see that person again for the rest of my life. And my cousins suffer because of her. She hurts her own family, and it’s disgusting.
