    Hey Stonnie. Just like to appreciate your work and methods. I find that as much as you are showing how the dogs are supposed to behave, I learn how a handler needs to behave. I look forward to more videos on Dobermanns. Good luck.

    Acclimating your dog is so important! My mother's 7 month-old Labrador freaked out in the middle of a bridge over a very busy road because there was a gap in the rails and he could suddenly see the cars zooming by beneath his paws. He totally shut down and we had to carry that 50lbs puppy the rest of the way. No fun! My mother went to a trainer right away to make sure it won't happen again.

    I've been watching your videos and i really like your way of training. I have an older pitbull that we took in from some people who couldn't care for her any more. She had zero training and also turned out to be pregnant, lol. So now we have her and 8 puppies I have to try and get trained, it's a handful but it's truly something I enjoy. My father trained Dobermans and from what I learned from him and watching and learning what I can here on youtube I think I am going to have a great pack of dogs. Thank you for the time you spend making these videos and your obvious love for animals.

      @@bigbadaddie I've never had one! I'd done research on the breed a few months ago but didn't persue it. I went to the shelter for a different dog but he really drew me in. He'd already caught my attention online, especially his natural ears as that's my preference. Then I kept coming back to him, got him out of the kennel, and liked his temperament. He's 3 years old, give or take.
      Good luck with your new dog!

      @bigbadaddie 4 года назад +1

      @@MadCheshireHat how cool! You are in for a great experience. My piece of advice is that they are very sensitive and smart. They don't need hash correction. They need a strong handler that understands this. However, you do need to be the boss. If they are a little wild run them, and then train.(Imo. For what it's worth) I made this mistake with one of mine in the past. I am not a pro. I just love them
      I can't wait for another chance to train one of these beautiful dogs. They are amazing! Lord bless!

      Mr. Whittaker, SIr! With all the chaos and madness going on politically right now in this Great country of OUR's that men, woman, brothers, sisters, sons and daughters LITERALLY sacrificed their lives willingly so that We The People would remain free from these Crazies around the world, it sure means a lot to us to know that there are still "Americans" that honor them-THEY, are the TRUE HERO's, those that I see-young-missing an arm, leg, or both; they ALSO ARE HERO'S. Although I have had our own literally die in my arms, it is THEM, that we NEVER FORGET. I think about and remember daily...
      Sincerely, thank you Sir! With the way that some so-called "a"mericans have been acting lately, it sure meant a lot to me to receive this.
      For people EXACTLY like you - WE would do it all again

    Hi Stonnie!! I am raising my first dobie...Livy ..she is a 2 1/2 year old small female. Her first two years she was the typical high energy curious Pup but this last year Upon approaching other dogs at the park she will go into a frozen/alert stance and you can literally FEEL the tension. She will let the other dog smell ect and then she will either go into play mode and start darting around (usually making the other dog anxious or afraid) trying to play or she will get aggressive and growl. Is this typical behavior? I’ve been keeping her away from dogs unless she knows them well because either way Livy behaves it makes both the owner and the dog afraid...unless the dog in rare moments of happiness are of the SAME temperament then they play but usually very rough and it’s hard to discern if it’s okay play. How can I socialize her to be better around other dogs?
    Some background:
    She is wonderful with humans if she meets them outside my house. She gets tons of exercise running 3-4 miles a day and playing fetch. She is JEALOUS. She is disobedient to most females including wife unless I’m around.
    Any suggestions?

    Is this Doberman a European or American Doberman?
    Initially, the dogs were called “Dobermann-Pinschers” in Germany, but later the name was shortened to simply “Dobermann” because the “Pinscher,” being the German word for terrier, was no longer considered appropriate. The British also dropped the Pinscher several years later, but it continues in North America.

    • @donnakeeley7924
      @donnakeeley7924 5 лет назад +3

      I fry it in bacon grease, when its done, i cut it into chunks and I freeze a couple of bags and keep one in the fridge. (When it is done cooking and bagging, I put about a Tablespoon of parsley in each bag. They like that and its good for them. Especially in the winter. I also will cut growing wheat grass and give for treats too and in their food. Make sure it isn't gmo or treated for anything. Just grow it in a planter and give to both cats and dogs.) You can get good wheat seeds from Petco or your local farmers seed store. Costs less than a dollar, you will need about a Tablespoon a day for a large dog.

    I have a friend who's suggested the Doberman because I walk alot day and night in coyote country. I can't afford a professional trainer nor do I have a park near me. What do you think. What all training does it need (if) I were to get one. Little concerned. I live with my mom. Who needs crutches. What's you're advise

    • @MultiWhoswho
      @MultiWhoswho 6 лет назад +2

      I have 3 Dobermans and they love to move almost as much as they love to be as close to you as they can be. The training will depend on what you want out of the dog. To get it to do basic good dog stuff sit stay lay come. That is something you can do at anytime you are with your dog. If you plan to be with it all day it’s better for you both. You can put a minute in here and there. As for your mom that’s a little tough to answer. Mine are all a bit bumpy not trying to just have a habit of being pushy. But with training anything can be done. I think any home that can have one and give it what it DESERVES should have a Doberman.

    • @donnakeeley7924
      @donnakeeley7924 5 лет назад

      I've been luck enout to have owned a couple of these dogs. Just be aware that they like to lean on you while you are standing still. Its a way they show their love! Need to correct them not to do that against mom.

    • @donnakeeley7924
      @donnakeeley7924 5 лет назад

      I'm from coyote country and have no use for coyotes! Never leave the house without a weapon on you. When they come for your dog, shoot them! Or if you haven't the stomach for that, shoot in front of them. They usually run off or regroup.

    The European Doberman grows slightly larger than the American Doberman, and it also has a more muscular body compared to the American Doberman. Additionally, the American Doberman is better suited for families and companionship over the working European Doberman

      It is not only a money investment, but an investment in quality time, training, socialization and exercise. Your puppy sounds quite insecure and lacking in proper mental and physical stimulation.

    • @cerberus_6662
      @cerberus_6662 4 года назад +1

      Dobermans were bread to guard. So that is what yours is doing. If you think he is displaying aggression whilst guarding this needs to be addressed. Tell him "no" or whatever negative word you use to correct behaviour, and when he goes quiet or is distracted praise him and treat him. Keep doing this and he will eventually understand that is bad behaviour. Dobermans are independent thinkers and will do their own thing unless guided by their owner. $500 is an extremely low price for a doberman. I've recently bought my dobe pup from a professional dobe breeder/importer and paid £1200 which is about $1500 roughly. And that was cheap for a dobe.
