For a $4200 value and losing $1500 right off the jump, that’s crazy. That’s a $2700 margin. Then he would have to actually buy the figures; and if he offered her triple of his $500 offer which is $1500 that leaves a $1200 margin. If it takes him 1 year to sell everything it’s just simply not worth the $1200. I would’ve offered her maybe 1000 just being generous, but he’s a businessman, the $500 offer made the most sense to him. Selling 1 item worth $4200 is much more practical than selling 15 items worth $4200.

I know a guy that I have been friends with for a long time that is 1000% more of a Star Wars nerd that Steve Grad. Sealed cases of action figures that never saw store shelves; autographs, posters, Star Wars props. Probably has the most extensive Star Wars collection of anybody I know.
Noticed how Rick coped with missed deals by saying that “I don’t know if right now they would sell” about the life size figures. As if he didn’t just mention Star Wars being great in reselling
I think the issue is the amount of room they take. For Rick it’s a bad deal because they will sit until the right buyer comes along, conversely a vintage toy store could buy them and put them in a highly visible area and could promote store traffic by word of mouth. I make weird one off fan items and almost always it’s a toy store or comic book store that buys them. Eventually the items sell but they claim the increased foot traffic and incidental sales due to the increased traffic paid for the item several times over.
