As long as Trump claims to have done what he convinced them sounded good at the time, Trump voters don't care if he shreds the constitution and 70 years of international alliances to do it. They don't care about the real-world long-term consequences or whether he cheated to get into office or whether his entire administration is corrupt for one simple reason: They are in a culture war and Trump is their champion. They're on the wrong side of history, they probably know they are going down, but they're going to make damn sure they go down kicking and screaming.

Iran-supported Hezbollah in Syria killed thousands while fighting for that torturer and murderer Bashar al-Assad who also indirectly ruined millions of lives. Hezbollah in Syria and Lebanon kill the locals as well as executing terrorist attacks against Israel. I get the point Schlapp goes to more liberal platforms, being that you have to try convincing people out of your own bubble, but how can he expect to do that by acting like a less annoying Kellyanne?
How can you expect to convince people who tend to fact check information by cherry picking Trump's "achievements" and omitting the big promises he made?
C'mon, he started with the withdrawals from Paris Agreement and Iran Nuclear Deal, which technically make sense, but repeating that there is a Wall, you only have to call it a fence? Really? Where was he during the longest government shutdown then?
How can you justify Trump asking for security clearance for Jared and Ivanka, by saying every president have had their trusted consiglieres? Does he actually expect people to forget what daughter and son-in-law mean?
    And so on.
How can he assume it is completely normal to look calm and rational to persuade people to vote for chaos and irrationally, to put it mildly?
    Fucking hell.
Bill, please keep going with the If Obama Did It list. Ok, republicans will keep using hypocrisy to avoid the actual reality, but each one of them, from everybody's racist grandma to Mitch McConnell, they must notice at least one thing, one tiny thing about Trump that is not even conceivable for a US President to have said and/or done, right?
It's not a question of "everybody's got something you won't like", because in this case you can pick literally anything. Russia coming out all the time, mob like lifestyle, international embarrassment moments, his tweets, his cabinet members, his cabinet members leaving all the time, his ties, his McDonalds buffets in the White House, the way he speaks, his fake tan, hair and teeth, his incapacity to even smile, to make a normal handshake, his lies, his petty ways to divert attention, his megalomania, his press conferences, his golf attendance, his love for strongmen and dictators, his different tones of voice, his inappropriate remarks, his family, his entourage people, his awful buildings, his business failures, his Hollywood Access tape, his short attention span, his illiteracy, his poor knowledge on anything, his arrogance, his thin skin, his affairs with porn stars, his attacks to the press, his incompetence in any field, his charities, his blatant denials, his support of guns, his racism, Charlottesville, him not honouring the fallen because it was raining, his flag hugs, his bigotry, his misogyny, his taste in wives, his immigration rhetoric, his family separation policy, his presidential pardons to Arpaio and D'Souza, his climate change stances, his nonsense, his direct look at the sun without proper glasses during an eclipse, his "executive time", his non-diplomacy, him not shaking Merkel's hand, him hanging up the phone with the prime minister of Australia, him saying to the Italian prime minister he's still friends with Pavarotti forgetting he died several years ago, his lack of ambassadors in countries like South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Belgium, and so on, so on, so on.
There's got to be at least one thing that would discourage literally anybody to support Trump in the first place, let alone keeping him in office in 2020.

Yes, it's not all "red meat" (or should I say Tofu?) for the archly progressive liberal audience, but Bill does keep having them on, gets in some pretty good shots and lets them explain a bit in a not-so-friendly environment. If you treat people of opposing political views like dirt and don't talk civilly with them, you might as well begin preparing for real war.

Bill's being too intellectual with those book questions. What he should be asking is "What if Obama dropped an umbrella at the door of a plane while boarding?" Because we know damn well if that had happened Republican's like Schlapp would be calling it the biggest Presidential scandal in the history of all Presidential scandals and Fox News would be calling for a National Emergency and Impeachment.

One thing I agree with Schlapp on: politicians have to be prepared to talk to everybody and go where they need to go, especially in a tight race - whether that means Bernie et al being interviewed on Fox or Hillary visiting delicately-balanced swing states.
And I can't help feeling the DNC's ban on Fox hosting a primary debate is playing into their hands.

I have to give Schlapp credit for one thing: He made me understand what conservatives meant when they said Trump fulfilled his promises as POTUS - which is mainly to rollback Obama's policies and wipe out his legacy. When you begin to see it through that perspective, you realize it was all about one thing - conservatives absolutely HATED Obama. Trump's hatred for Obama was coincidentally solidified after President Barack Obama humiliated Donald Trump at the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner. It was an unholy alliance between Trump's personal vendetta against Obama + the conservative hatred of the 8 years of Obama being POTUS. Everything else like tax cuts for the rich and conservative Supreme Court judges were just cherries on top of having someone with no moral principles, a rubber stamp for passing conservative policies and enriching themselves.
