Holy f**king s**t that is crazy. I’m glad you came out of it alive, and as you mentioned somewhat normal in the years after. That is f*cked. I never would have thought about it.
That makes sense when we had an insane storm (not hurricane, just storm) that washed away parts of highway and parts of houses in to the bayou… well my school lost 26 classrooms that had to be gutted and remodeled fresh almost to the ceiling. Now I understand why that last 18 miserable days we came back for, that they wouldn’t let any of us in the grass. We were expected to keep the K-5 kiddos on the sidewalk. No PE, no recess.
I thought it was an overreaction. But May is dry here, so they couldn’t say the water had washed it away yet.
It was hazardous and half the school was a construction zone.

Girl, i am french and let me tell you this is not the worst thing the French government has done for the Olympics. 1) Before the beginning of the games, they told people from paris and ile-de-france region to leave or work from home so they can organize it. Btw you have to obtain a QR code to assist the games. This Qr code is used for an administrative inquiry made by the police. They can obtain a no answer for no reason even if you need to work during the games. 2) They increased the price of the metro ticket (to 1,70 € to 4€) for the games. 3) They forces students living in students residencies to gave their rooms for athletes without a real compensation (at first nothing and then only 100 € and 2 tickets to the games). 4) They displaced families who were in hotels and were waiting for a place for an apartment without any remplacement. 5) Homeless people were moved out of Paris and sent to other cities without a plan to take care of them humanly. 6) Our "almost dictatorial president" decided to dissolve the assembly before the games and the left won the most sieges. However, since he don't want to recognize the results, he doesn't want to name a new prime minister of the left and said, i quote, we need "une trêve olympique" (olympic pause) so people can focuse on the games. For now, we don't know what will happen and if he will use the article 16 of our constitution where he can have full powers. 6) About QR code, they did not thought about people needing to go the hospital in case of emergencies and appointments. Some people with an appointment were refused their basic rights to be healed. The hospital organization (aphp) in Paris was fuming about this.

I was wondering why Macron would insist on elections so shortly before the Olympics, than the right basically won every single depatement and by some twist in the regulation suddenly the left coalition has the majority. I have seen something like that in several Western countries, like they don’t even pretend anymore, that the vote matters, they are put into power by some “higher powers” and they guide us into tyranny. WEF Young Leaders everywhere.

We are so far removed. I think about a vid I saw of this person live-streaming and something catches on fire and the person goes to ask chat what do they do. Like, our very primitive ancestors knew how to put out a fire and “we” don’t. I think about this with like our food sources, propaganda and systematic narratives given to us by politics or social media trends. We truly don’t know our sources anymore.

It always was. It's the bread and circus. What is significant about the time we live in is a collective refusal of seeing it, thus it becomes more and more evident and parodic.

I’ve seen countless videos over the years of people saying if they didn’t know French, they were treated like swine. And if they learned some French for their trip,it was like look a swine attempting to juggle. 😂

The Japanese are mostly affected because their country is so clean. They aren’t even allowed to chew gum in public. And they care very much about their neighbors and people around them. They have a crowd culture vs an every man for himself culture. I’m sure others know much more than I do, but that was my first thought.

When you can leave your purse or drop wallet in a train station not once or twice, but three separate visits in Japan and come back and it’s there or given to local Police…..you know Japan is doing it right.
