I have always preferred the 10 gauge but no one ever talks about it until you're video. Similar to the upgraded 30-06 which is also my favorite rifle caliber. You're responses before and after shooting things is how most people feel whole shooting but seldom verbalize it.🤣 Great video!👍
I have been using a 10 GA. for about 40 years. H&R long range, single. The geese drop at a range my buddy's 1187 super mag. can't seem to reach. Biggest problem is ammunition cost. But then again my friends 1187, 3 1/2" , 12 GA. aren't cheap either. Bought the H&R new in the early 80's. And the almost 10lb's it weighs in at.
I love the 10 gauge. It's interesting to me that when it came out, the regular load was 1 1/8 ounce of shot in a 2 7/8" shell., and the 12 gauge was 7/8 ounce of shot in a 2 1/2" shell. Each is now the "normal" load in the next smaller gauge shotgun. Shows how advances in propellants improved the ballistics of modern firearms!
When the ten gauge 'came out'? Are you more than a century old? Sorry but there's even eight gauge and bigger, a smooth barrel firearm is a pretty old invention.
The 16 gauge load was 1 ounce. 10 gauge was generally 1 1/4. 12 gauge was 1 1/8. Today the 16 gauge can shoot 1 3/8 ounce at 1200 easily. 20 gauge was 7/8, 24 was 11/16, 32 was 5/8, 410 was 1/2. I’ve got at least 1 gun in every gauge.
@@newoneinblack I believe that the largest was the 4 guage although it was so powerful that the guns were mounted on a boat and moved to where the ducks were.

Hey Scott just want to say your content has been a highlight in my day. Life’s been pretty hard lately and I appreciate being able to watch your videos to escape the mess of it all. Love the enthusiasm and your passion for firearms brother. Always a good time! God bless man to you and your family
About 40 years ago the first shotgun I ever shot was a double barrel 10ga. It was longer than I was tall. Accidentally let both barrels go when I took a shot at a jackrabbit. I landed a few yards away and we only found part of the rabbit. Been in love with shotguns ever since.
I grew up on the Eastern shore of Maryland and waterfowl hunting was a way life and in my family goose hunting was done primarily with 10ga shotguns. Additionally in parts of Europe up until the 1980’s I have been told by friends who lived in Spain and Italy that the 10ga was pretty much the shotgun of choice as it also was in the American west in 1800’s and first part of the 20th century. Just a FYI the Indiana state police used a 10ga shotgun for decades and it was given the nickname “the roadblocker”
I would really love to see you shoot some Ballistic Heads and Torsos with that 10 Gauge as well as your elephant guns, I mean seeing what happened when you, Matt and Garandthumb shot those heads with the .50 cal I can hardly imagine what the .700 Nitro will do... I am sure it would be glorious, if messy ;-)
That 10-gauge was awesome! I'm really liking the big bore focused content you've been sharing with us. Hoping soon you get to show us a 50-110 or 50-140 lever action and see how they stack up against the 2 express rifles.
Those rounds dont actually put out that much energy compared to Nitro Express rounds. They were blackpowder so they dont really get up to any meaningful speeds or grain weights.
@@darrengarcia4937 Yeah I know, it's hard to beat 1000 grain projectiles with Nitro powder behind it. Still the 50-140 produces a lot of muzzle energy for a black powder load. They also have smokeless factory loads producing over 4,400 joules of energy which is quite impressive for such a low pressure round. It's just more for the love for big bores. They are a dying and forgotten breed of gun and besides a video is always more fun with a big bore. Besides there is a guy on RUclips who shoots, I believe it's a 50-110. He reloads his own ammunition and is producing very impressive results. Very close in comparison to these Nitro guns. You just have to have an action strong enough to withstand the pressures especially with modern smokeless powder. Winchester of course comes to mind as that is the strongest action in any levergun I believe. Either way it's fun.
guns, watermelons, trucks rolling coal while throwing rooster tails?! damn! gotta love the stuff you come out with Scott! I'm glad to see how far you've gotten.
I found a nice 100+ year old L. C. Smith 10 ga coach gun to use for cowboy action matches. It has Damascus barrels, but a couple of gunsmiths proclaimed it safe for black powder loads. To be extra cautious, I only load it to 12 ga loadings. Still, this cannon makes a 12 ga look like a toy and the smoke and flame is very impressive. Other cowboy action guys have stated that they love to see this thing shoot!
The 8 and 10 gauge shotguns and boat mounted duck guns were phased out because of the incredible versatility of the 12 gauge; it’s still the go to for military and law enforcement scatter guns. And the slug/sabot fired from select rifled barrel models gives you essentially a devastating and accurate yet light, fifty caliber weapon.
I really enjoy the fact that Kentucky Ballistics is Pro-2A. I really enjoy that he is also into cars and trucks. I also enjoy every single video he makes... But can we PLEASE just all appreciate the fact that in every SINGLE ONE of his videos, he finds some obnoxious way to absolutely fucking DESTROY a folding table XD I love you man! Glad you seem to have made a full recovery!
10 gauge is my favorite shotgun cartridge. I got a Browning BPS Pump action 10 gauge. Throws shells with authority and the pump sounds angry when you rack it. Its too bad there isn’t a whole lot of semi auto 10 gauges around...one can hope to get one, one day.
Only real downside is how expensive those shells are and much more rare to actually find from shops. Recoil management is personal and we dont count that. I use 3.5 inch shells with 2.3 oz of lead in my remington 870 for hunt.

I did the same thing unloading both barrels at the same time when I was 14yo. It was one of my first jobs doing construction job site clean up and mowing the grass. Boss man came up asking me if I could shoot because they had a snake problem getting in the office. He told me he'd pay me $50 a hour, give me the gun and ammo and a bonus for each snake killed. This was a long time ago.... I made bank but lead the trigger if both barrels were loaded could send both of the rounds at the same time. It was a older gun like this one. I couldn't have been 90# wet and it knocked me on my butt. Boss man had a hell of a laugh and I only loaded one round at a time. 00 buck is the best lol.
Slugs are my absolute favorite as long as the shotgun has a peep sight or similar like the 590 has. Baseball size group's at 100yds all day long. Take your arsenal to the ocean and shoot waves as they barrel!!!! You'll have SO MUCH FUN!!!!

I have to say this again. The Slow-mo camera is awesome and it really upped the quality of your videos! Great investment and I'm glad you're using it well! Cheers!
Got a single barrel 10 gauge- Ruko brand name. Use it sparingly for goose hunts. Reload my own shells.....Had the choke modified to Improved Modified...... Was full before.... Can shoot steel shot now.
I have an American Arms 32" SxS 10 gauge that looks almost identical to that. Oddly it's actually made in Spain. Bought it online with the intention of cutting it down into a coach gun but it's just too damn nice to cut. What a blast pulling both triggers though all I've found local for ammo is a bunch of bird loads.
I'm starting to feel like Scott's hatred of tables must stem from a deep childhood memory, like maybe he was never allowed to eat inside with the rest of his family, he was forced to eat outside on a stump. And he had to fend off local wildlife to finish his meal.
I love the 10 ga video. I’m curious to see what a high-velocity waterfowl load would do compared to the buckshot and slugs. Also, I’d love to see what the 10 would do to a bucket of joint compound.
Would love to see you set up a trail camera after one of your range days to see what all kind of animals come check out the carnage over the next couple days/nights. 😂

Awesome shotty and the slow mo was incredible you could actually see the pellets and slugs. Great video as always. Thank you for all you do. Glad you seem fully recovered from the accident
It's kind of difficult to see the projectile(s) themselves because the slo-mo makes the brightness level a bit lower. So if you could on your next slo-mo run it forward as you do, then backwards to a smidge just before impact, then forward through again. Thanks KB 💪💪👌👌👍👍
One of my favorite things about your slow camera is that i can slow it down even more with youtude settings and actually somewhat see the round as it hits. It is a amazing. The slow camera is an AWESOME addition to the channel.
Back in the 1800's, the 10 gauge was actually the standard. Most old double barrels were probably 10 gauge. Of course, you're talking about using black powder. Lots of smoke and fire, but not as powerful overall.
@@annoyanceking The punt guns continued into the 20th century, if I remember correctly, until there was a crackdown on professional water fowl hunting.
I absolutely loved this video. Its goofy how powerful that 10 gauge is, but I believe my favorite part was watching that table darn near teleport out of the shot, that was hilarious.
My daddy had an old Parker pokestock 10 gauge that was made in the 1880s and originally belonged to my great grandfather who was a confederate veteran. My daddy used to load his own black powder shells for it and he used .32 caliber squirrel rifle balls for buckshot. One time he found some records in my sister’s room of that rock and roll music that he didn’t like so he took the box of records and blasted them in our backyard from 25 yards away with that buckshot and made my sister redd up the yard from all that vinyl

I have always preferred the 10 gauge but no one ever talks about it until you're video. Similar to the upgraded 30-06 which is also my favorite rifle caliber.
You're responses before and after shooting things is how most people feel whole shooting but seldom verbalize it.🤣 Great video!👍
The speed at which that table snapped out of frame had me rolling. It was like a cartoon.
It got yeeted!
Finally showing a PT cruiser the respect it deserves lol
The double barrel shotgun is the best invention to grace this hellhole we call Earth.
And you cannot change my mind.
One day Scott is going to see eggplants sprouting up all over his range, I hope he’ll be ok and it doesn’t cause him anger issues.
All he has to do is shoot them
Oh he'll have anger issues for sure because.......Nobody Likes Eggplants!!!
@@dr.insecto7846 which will make them multiply
Eggplant is the worst
More shooting targets!
It is mainly due to improvements in metallurgy that allows for the pressures.
When the ten gauge 'came out'? Are you more than a century old? Sorry but there's even eight gauge and bigger, a smooth barrel firearm is a pretty old invention.
@@newoneinblack 8 gauge and bigger went obsolete in the late 1800’s my guy
The 16 gauge load was 1 ounce. 10 gauge was generally 1 1/4. 12 gauge was 1 1/8. Today the 16 gauge can shoot 1 3/8 ounce at 1200 easily. 20 gauge was 7/8, 24 was 11/16, 32 was 5/8, 410 was 1/2. I’ve got at least 1 gun in every gauge.
@@newoneinblack I believe that the largest was the 4 guage although it was so powerful that the guns were mounted on a boat and moved to where the ducks were.
I use to hunt geese with the ten gauge. It would easily bring those big honkers down. Scott, you have way more fun than any man should have!! 🤣🤣🤣 Loved your video.
You should have seen the liberal women that dispersed after I tooted in line at Target. Now that's fun.
The 10 needs to make a comeback in popularity
Scott: "Hey you wanna see my table trick?"
Viewer: "Don't you mean table CLOTH trick?"
Scott: 11:13
Hippity hoppity your table is now my property
And for my actual response, that table got roped into this worse than Mr. Meeseeks did...
Yeah that was funny 🤣🤣
Watching you pull that shell out in slow motion brought back memories. I could almost smell it. My grandpa used to take me shooting and I loved that smell of the spent shells
Glad to see you are back to 100% now. That was a messed up freak accident that you went through
I absolutely love a 10 gauge! I have a Browning pump 10 gauge. My husband got me into shotguns a few years ago and I always take my 10 gauge with! I shot a pinata with it last year for my 36th birthday! Haha! All my husband's friends like seeing the recoil when I shoot it! I'm a woman standing at 5' 3" and my 10 gauge goes up to my shoulder when holding on the ground.
I love your channel! I love recoil! I have been shooting since I was 5! My dad taught me. I love 44 mags my favorite caliber and I have been shooting them since I was 7!
Thank you for the videos! Hope to find me a 10 gauge double barrel in the future!
RIP to Scott's rotator cuff lol
You're the best dude! Always so positive, informative, and fun! Thank you for all you do. I hope the new guidelines don't destroy your income or your desire to do full auto or bumpstock videos.
Moreover, there is an alternative to WOT and FTR for men with fast fingers. 🤭
UPD: We're looking forward to FAF with Scott.

Man, that table yank with the truck looked like it came straight out of a cartoon 🤣
Hey Scott just want to say your content has been a highlight in my day. Life’s been pretty hard lately and I appreciate being able to watch your videos to escape the mess of it all. Love the enthusiasm and your passion for firearms brother. Always a good time! God bless man to you and your family
Track ppl: "We do the hammer toss"
KB: "That's cute" *throws table then drags it behind truck*
I'm glad to see you've healed up and are back to doing what you love .
About 40 years ago the first shotgun I ever shot was a double barrel 10ga. It was longer than I was tall. Accidentally let both barrels go when I took a shot at a jackrabbit. I landed a few yards away and we only found part of the rabbit. Been in love with shotguns ever since.
Being able to see the angry swarm of pellets headed down range on the slow-mo is pretty awesome.
00 pellets no less and a whole bunch of 'em.
Im sure it would be gnarly, though 50 bmg is significantly more powerful than 700 nitro. 8900 ft lbs vs over 12,000 in the 50 cal
@@theshapeexists I just want to see what happens, don't really care about the numbers .-)
HEY! That's MY line!
Absolutely adore that double barrel 10ga shotty. Almost as much as I adore the 700 Nitro Express 😎🤙🏻🇺🇸🦅
Legend has it that Scott’s shoulder stays bruised 365 days a year.
24/7 he has an ice pack gorilla taped to his gun shoulder
The 8 and 10 gauge shotguns and boat mounted duck guns were phased out because of the incredible versatility of the 12 gauge; it’s still the go to for military and law enforcement scatter guns. And the slug/sabot fired from select rifled barrel models gives you essentially a devastating and accurate yet light, fifty caliber weapon.
Also recoil was a factor, the number of people who could comfortably shoot a 12 gauge was far higher.
Most of it was the invention of smokeless powder. Made the 12 better and the bigger ones near unwieldy
I'm so danged happy to see you pretty near fully recovered and having fun again. 👍
Bless you buddy! 🙏
Made my weekend to see "Watermelon Time" was back and you hit that table so hard it's entire family felt it!!!
that slug hit!
atomised watermellon :-D
Half a lifetime ago, when I was 30, I'd have joined you. Today it's fun to watch you take the pounding by yourself. Thanks for the entertainment.
I love the 10 gauge had one as a teenager that I used to deer hunt with those 18 pallets in the buckshot are 30 caliber. the devastation of 18 30caliber pellets is awesome site.
Scott buddy you're the greatest! Excellent vid
Scott has wised up now and stands farther back when shooting condiments..lol..great vid!
Scott, that 10 Guage, in a word, is --" SENSATIONAL!!!!
Hey man I also have a 10 gauge double. I've never tried both barrels but I used to watch my dad and his friends do it when I was little. It looked pretty hard to handle. I seen it black the entire side of my uncle's face lol. He was a big guy too.
The rear trigger on mine fires both barrels
11:16 “This table has 3 speeds; Here, There, and Gone, to infinity and beyond!”
Question: Why is KB doing donuts in the yard with the truck?
Answer: He's just tilling the field.
I showed my boyfriend him doing yard donuts and he was so triggered because we are in A suburban area of California and he wants to do donuts with his truck so badly. 😂
Lmao
It's called cumulative destruction of evide......yeah, tilling the field works!
this man is alike to someone who crashed a drag car flipped over 15 or 20 times landed on his roof and walked out of the car at 800 horsepower, then came back headstrong and wanted to start out with 950 horsepower this time around and just send er! this man reminds me to never stop doing what i love and to never ever be a wuss!
I can't tell you how many times I get caught off guard with watermelon time. You sigh, look off into the distance, and then start saying something deep.
Then you yell "Watermelon Time!" and said fruit explodes shortly after...lol. Love you man! Can't wait for the next one!
Got the same 10 gauge, send it down to Texas, have 6” cut off the barrel and fitted with screw in chokes, you will love it!
Never get tired of this stuff top man Scot the gun collection must be vast lol
He has licensed dealer and armorer friends.
@@jenniferwhitewolf3784 oh that makes sense 👍
Thanks Scott. Your boyish delight in destruction is infectious! I can’t believe I am so addicted to watching someone shoot for fun
I was gonna say the same thing, it looks a lot like my Zabala sxs 10ga made in spain. Same engravings and also 32" barrels
I'm starting to feel like Scott's hatred of tables must stem from a deep childhood memory, like maybe he was never allowed to eat inside with the rest of his family, he was forced to eat outside on a stump. And he had to fend off local wildlife to finish his meal.
pulling the table with the truck was seriously funny. I would love to see him do it with a longer rope so the truck is moving faster
"And the flowers are still standing." Dr. Peter Venkman.
I love the 10 ga video. I’m curious to see what a high-velocity waterfowl load would do compared to the buckshot and slugs. Also, I’d love to see what the 10 would do to a bucket of joint compound.
Cool to be able to see the shot pattern of the 00. And I’m also glad you’re shooting miracle whip instead of mayo.
I did enjoy watching you Scott having fun with the ol 10GA shotgun they're classic firearms they also make great predator guns both 2 and 4 legs.
That DB shotgun was OP I love the slugs
11:04 this was my favorite bit!
Would love to see you set up a trail camera after one of your range days to see what all kind of animals come check out the carnage over the next couple days/nights. 😂
😂 I guarentee there's families of raccoons of 130 deep or more that migrated from Indiana to Kentucky once the word was out from there kin folk ,
12 gauge double barrel shotgun to the 10 gauge double barrel shotgun: I'm two spots higher than you
10 gauge double barrel shotgun to the 12 gauge double barrel shotgun: yeah but I'm a bigger badass than you .
That 10 gage is what's called a "Goose Gun". Designed specifically for knocking large waterfowl out of the sky.
This video is inspiring with how much he does so soon after surgery
I found myself paying more attention to the wadding majestically fly off into the forest. Digging the new camera!
Did u catch the part where the wadding hit the cheese in midair after the slug blew it up 6:50
@@JoeyAdamPerkins I love the smell of cheese covered wadding in the morning. Smells... Smells like Victory

God, you just made me crack up! Nearly died of laughter!
I love just watching someone genuinely having a good time. Love the content, puts a smile on my face every time
It's kind of difficult to see the projectile(s) themselves because the slo-mo makes the brightness level a bit lower.
So if you could on your next slo-mo run it forward as you do, then backwards to a smidge just before impact, then forward through again.
Thanks KB 💪💪👌👌👍👍
theres so much power going out of that shotgun its just shocking like damn looks like a normal shotgun but the bullet hits look like a fricking 50bmgs
One of my favorite things about your slow camera is that i can slow it down even more with youtude settings and actually somewhat see the round as it hits. It is a amazing. The slow camera is an AWESOME addition to the channel.

How ‘bout the 10:34...? 😤aaahhh😀
@@Strugglin.on.RUclips You’re right, that one too!
